Food is amazing, service is good but it can be slow during peak hours because it's a small business with a small staff.

My first visit to Flashbacks was yesterday. I had lunch with two friends. I ordered bone-in chicken wings and they were excellent. Good wings in restaurants are hard to find these days. Usually under cooked and rubbery or so big they look like they just came off a big bird. Flashbacks serving was 10 wings with celery and they were by far the best I've had since wings were given away free at taverns. When my friends and I were there, a gentleman was photographing about every dish on the menu for their Door Dash add so afterwards the owner would lay the various items out on a big long table so I got to see about everything. From pizza to burgers to salads to the very large breaded tenderloin sandwich one of my friends enjoyed, everything looked delicious. Their only downfall was their ice tea which like a lot of restaurants was bad (I'll let them know this next time I visit). I was told their pint domestic drafts were $3 and bottle beer, I saw advertised on the wall is $2 on some days. Needless to say, I will return and bring some friends. Finally, I was a little reluctant to go here because I live in Greenwood and Flashbacks is located at the intersection of Southport and Shelbyville Roads. However, I took I65 and after "wheeling" it on my odometer, I found it only to be 1.3 miles east of I65 so not too bad. About 25 minutes to Center Grove or west of Greenwood. read more

We've been wanting to try Flashbacks for a year now and finally got a chance to go last night. When we walked in we were pleasantly surprised by the sports bar theme and the local high school memorabilia on the walls. We started off our meal with an order of mozzarella sticks and marinara sauce, and they were freezer burnt and the sauce wasn't tasty either. For our meals, I got the flashback burger and fries. The burger was cooked exactly how I asked it to be cooked, but it was nothing special. The fries were soggy and had no flavor to them. My wife ordered a tenderloin and only ate half of it because it was so dry and bland. We really wanted to like this place because of the location and the reviews that we've heard from neighbors. We'll give this place another chance, but it was a let down on our first visit. read more

My family and I have been coming here for a few years now and the food was just okay. However, the past two visits, the food has been outstanding! I recently heard the long term cooks quit and they have brand new cooks. Well they seem to be putting a lot of pride into their food! My first flashback expierence was a success. I will be a repeat customer. The fiance and I went on tuesday where they played family fued. It was free to play and you can win gift cards. I had the tuesday night pizza special. You got pizza and breadsticks for $11. It was pretty good pizza. My fiance turned her nose up at the pizza. Forcing me to eat an entire pizza on my own. I couldnt let it go to waste considering the starving children in Africa situation. They also had $1.50 domestic bottles on tuesday. In true "flashback" style I drank a budweiser. Who drinks budweiser anymore with all these fancy craft beers. So it was kind of like going back in time. With a name like flashbacks I did have one fear, that never came to be. My wife and I tried the boneless wings(mild), cheese fries, and pretzel bites and cheese. Everything was Fantastic!!! The pretzel bites are like crack they are soooo good. The wings are fried nice and crispy and the sauce is tasty without being melt your face hot. The fries are good and a good size portion. We've had stellar service, fun and tasty dishes, and phenomenal beer selections at this surprisingly classy local pub. The inside decor FAR trumps the exterior strip mall. Think SHALLO's in Greenwood. Beautiful interior, and a fully stocked bar with plenty of TV's. We were having a get together with our parents so we had a rather large party. They were so accommodating to us, and the food was fast even though we ordered a bunch of stuff! The spinach dip appetizer was phenomenal!! It's a must try. The boys all ordered the cheesy bacon fries and the plate was MASSIVE! Be ready to share. They loved it, and the ranch dipping sauce it came with was fantastic. We ordered chicken tenders and also two pizzas, everyone was raving about them. It seems like you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu!! The service was excellent too! Our waitress was so sweet and always made sure our drinks were topped off. Our FCHS graduating class of 1973 had our 45th Class Reunion at Flashbacks. What a perfect venue for us! When we spoke to them originally about hosting us, they were worried we'd take up so much room that their regular customers couldn't get in. (How great is a place to worry about their regular customers?) So, we decided on a time of 3:00 pm as a start time when they wouldn't be so busy. It worked out perfectly! The staff was so friendly, even though I know it was difficult to keep up with drink orders since we were all walking around visiting. The owner kept in touch with us preceding the months before our party. The food they served was well seasoned, hot, and served with a smile. I'll come back every time I'm in the area. Hunkered down here for the IU/Purdue game, which is my first point. It's a good spot to catch a have, as they have several TV's scattered around for a good view. They have a decent sized menu from which to choose, and everything I've tried has been good. The tenderloin is a nice size sandwich and made well. The pizza with your choice of toppings serves a table well. The drinks and prices are fairly standard and average. Overall, a nice neighborhood bar. read more

Staff is always so friendly, from the hosts to the service! I didn't take a picture because I was starving and devoured my scrumptious food- but I ordered the ribeye, baked potato & green beans. We live across the street and we were so excited to get a new restaurant. One that we could just walk on over too. Had extremely high hopes but unfortunately this place is just mediocre. I like what they did to the inside from when it was Brandons. However the food is severely lacking. If it were your standard bar food of greasy burgers and deep fried foods, I would give them the benefit and probably give them a higher rating.But this place tries to offer "fresh ingredients with an upscale menu," as they say on their website... I just feel this place could go beyond the crap they serve. Nothing about it is upscale. Just because you put filet mignon for $23 and lobster mac and cheese on your menu doesn't make you upscale! First experience, I had the fish tacos, which I couldn't even finish eating. Horrible! The manager said a lot of people really like them, but I couldn't eat them. And that is so not like me. Even if i don't like something I will usually eat it anyway. I couldn't get past the taste of some kind of seasoning they used. Not to mention it was soggy fish just chopped up in a tortilla served with fries, coleslaw, and tartar sauce. No artistic or original spin on it what so ever! In my opinion if you have fish taco's on your menu and you do it right and make them phenomenal, they could be your signature dish...Not at this place though. My boyfriend had the bacon cheeseburger. To which the server then had to tell us that there wasn't any actual fresh cooked bacon on. They use a product called bacon jam...not sure what that is, but it wasn't good. Another time I went I got the turkey reuben. I feel they should have told me this was not a traditional turkey reuben. What i got was turkey and coleslaw on a toasted bun. No swiss cheese, no thousand island, no real sauerkraut...For desert the server told us what they had. Naming a thin mint desert. Not sure what it was we went for it...I just shook my head when it was brought out. 1 scoop of ice cream with 5 generic thin mint cookies stuck into the ice cream and tons of whipped cream on the plate. That isn't a desert! If i wanted a hodgepodge of sweets on one plate, i could do that at home. I have no idea what that was that they served us. Besides the food, our server along with the entire kitchen crew took a cigarette break outside for around ten to fifteen minutes. As we could see because they were right in our view. Also they all kept their aprons on. Which because I've worked in restaurants I know is a big no no. Also they didn't wash their hands upon coming back inside. I was watching them the whole time as they started to just go back to work. I have also received a water with some glob of something sticky and gross on the inside rim of my glass. Also they use little plastic ramekins for all the side sauces and such. If you want to claim "upscale" maybe use real ramekins and put them on a spare side plate. Don't just drop 4 plastic ramekins of sour cream and salsa and stuff on the center of my dish with the lids still on them from when you dished them up however many days ago! And I'm just going to be blunt with this, the wine list sucks! I can appreciate that you want to promote one of Indiana's only local wineries but Oliver wine is bottom of the barrel! In my opinion it's a joke of a winery! If you want to say you are more upscale and make your restaurant far better than the average bar, then make it more of an upscale place. Don't offer crap food, with crap wine, and crap service. You have the potential to make this place good if not great, and be successful, and be a place everyone loves to come in to....do it! I would have loved to have had an amazing experience here. I think everyone who lives around here was expecting it to be great. I'm sad it has been such a disappointment! As for anyone interested in dining here, it's up to you, but don't go in with high expectations! read more

Food is pretty decent bar-type fare (3.5), service (5+) bumps it up to a solid 4. Remember the snowstorm on Valentine's Day? We were supposed to get 1-3 inches and ended up with 6-9 and backups were insane? These guys were still open and rocking all evening. Since this is the only bar/restaurant near a ton of neighborhoods and nobody could drive very far, it was pretty crowded. On top of that, a lot of their deliveries had been delayed so the kitchen was pretty backed up. Our server (big guy with a ponytail) was amazing. I'm sure he had a lot of irate people because the kitchen was backed up, but he was incredibly friendly and comped us drinks while we waited. Our food took a while to come out, but it was good when it did. The catfish sandwich is actually surprisingly tasty, as is the smoky quesadilla. On other occasions we've gotten burgers and wings, which are excellent. When deliveries are running smoothly we've never had a long wait for food, and they do have a pretty good drink selection. For a suburban neighborhood bar/grill, this place delivers above and beyond. read more

I took my mother here one night as it is a local bar and grille (which I tend to support local establishment when possible). Interior: It was really dark when we got in and sat down. My mother couldn't even read the menu. They finally turned on some lights in there (it was slow so they were probably saving electricity?) Nice decor for a bar and the table/chair was nice (not wobbling) which is a plus. Service: I was overall pleased by the service. The big man waiter (built) was really police/nice and was pretty cool. We didn't get offered refills but the cups are nicely sized there. Food: Lobster Mac Attack: This is a lobster and mac & cheese dinner with fries and texas toast. The mac & cheese with lobster is on top of a piece of texas toast. I was disappointed.The mac and cheese was honestly cold (which can ruin almost any meal). The lobster (given the price) definitely tasted like imitation (its a pub in Indiana so can't expect it to be real, let alone fresh). I would have happier with the mac & cheese by itself (hot) over the toast. French Fries: Seasoned and hot. Nothing special but they were good. 8oz sirlion: Unfortunately, mom ordered this well done (it was probably closer to medium well as there was some light pink). It actually tasted pretty good and moist (better than lets say Applebees). If I could do it again, I would have went with the steak. Price: They actually have some GREAT specials for alcohol during the week ($2 bottles, 5 for $10 buckets, $2.50 u call its, $2 draft / $3 imports) given the day of the week. They have 2 Sun King beers on tap as well as Stella ($3 draft is a great deal). 2 entrees, 2 sodas, and a nice tip for the service was $40. Maybe a bit high for pub food but it was for dinner. Overall: Due to the service and alcohol specials, I'd be willing to go again but hopefully a better experience with warmer food next time. read more

Great little pub for bar food!! The only draw back is the price of the food. 3 of us ate for $53.00, which for bar food is a bit pricey. That being said the food is good and drink prices are ok. I do like the environment inside and plenty of TV's to catch whatever game is on. We come about once a month and if the food prices come down we will put this one in our regular rotation. I've been here several times simply because it is one of the closest family restaurants to my home. I'd say if I didn't live so close I probably wouldn't not have been more than once. The service, food, atmosphere, are all just so so. Nothing to write home about. The food is mediocre. I've had fish and chips, chicken tenders, tenderloin and salad. None of which were super amazing. The tables are pretty close together, but luckily it's so loud in there that you don't feel like the people next to you are listening in on your conversation. We usually go on Fridays so during football season it can get packed with FC fans before/after the games. read more

Four of us went in to enjoy the Purdue game and some beers. We noticed all TVs were on Notre Dame game so we asked hostess(wearing a ND shirt) if they could turn one tv to the Purdue game. She came back and said the manager said they would not turn one TV for us to watch Purdue. We said "OK" and left. We live less than two minutes away and we will not be back. I tried this place a few years ago - didn't really care for it, never went back. Decided to try it again once we learned it had new owners and have had great experiences ever since! Food is good, reasonably priced, good drink prices, and they have Trivia night and Family Feud night on Monday's and Tuesday's which is a great time and well ran. I would definitely recommend to anyone who hasn't tried it in the past year. Also - the waitresses there are so sweet and work hard to take care of everyone. New favorite for us! read more

Worst pizza I've ever put in my mouth. The pizza sauce is way to sweet for pizza and the dough tastes soggy like it was premade and refrigerated or frozen then cooked. We asked our server to have it taken off our bill and she came back with 10% off the pizza um no I had to confront the manager face to face and get the pizza taken off. I've have had frozen grocery store pizzas taste better. I had a cheeseburger too that taste like a frozen patty reheated. Dont think we will be back. They really need to evaluate the food the cook is putting out of that kitchen. read more

We come in every few months for lunch, dinner or carry. Slow service had been an issue the last two visits but decided to give them another try. Server was good. Management/Owner was not. This evening we ordered potato skins, 8 pieces, we ate 3 but found rest to be over cooked & burnt. Returned & asked to be taken off our bill. The owner came over mad, red faced and talking loudly accused us of eating most of it and stating people come in and try not to pay for their meals after eating all of it. Stated would give us 10% off. My husband stated then we won't be back and he said that's fine with me. They went back and forth on it but at the end the manager stated he will take it off the bill. Well the bill came and guess what was still on our bill. We will not be back despite the rest of the food being good for being treated so rudely and it ruined the meal for us. read more

We went to Flashbacks for the first time on Friday, September 15th because I had won a gift card from our local block party. It has a local bar vibe with plenty of tables for diners and nice outdoor seating. Upon sitting, someone came over to get our drink order. Maybe my husband and I ordering water gave the server the impression she wasn't going to make a bunch off of us so it seemed to have set a tone for the service? Once the water was brought, our server asked if we knew what we wanted. I said it was our first visit and she replied, "I'll give you more time" and started to run off quite quickly. I said, "Whoa! Wait a minute. I said this is our first time here. What do you recommend?" She made a couple recommendations and said she'd be back. After making our decision and waiting nearly ten minutes, I asked my husband to flag down the server as she was at a table eating. My husband was waving furiously at her since it seems she forgot about us. She came to our table and took our order...with zero personality. Our food didn't take long. I ordered the grilled chicken breast topped with grilled onions and green peppers with melted provolone on top of that. My sides were mac n cheese and onion straws. My husband ordered the special which was some type of deep fried fish and shrimp and coleslaw. He said the coleslaw was good and the fish and shrimp was o.k. It looked great. I think it lacked seasoning so an easy fix. My chicken didn't seem to have much grilled onion or green peppers and the provolone cheese wasn't melted but the chicken was nicely prepared which also lacked seasoning, too, but an easy fix. I liked the chicken dish really well but it would have been excellent with seasoning, more grilled onions and green peppers and MELTED provolone cheese. The onion straws were delicious especially with the accompanying horseradish dipping sauce. The mac n cheese was way overcooked to the point of being mushy but I really liked my husband's coleslaw. Unfortunately, my husband also thought the mac n cheese was so overcooked I couldn't talk him into switching. We needed the waitress but she was back at that table eating and talking to another server again and we had patiently waited for awhile so my husband stood up and waved his arms to get her attention. I explained about the mac n cheese and she exchanged it for coleslaw with no problem. Shortly after I got the coleslaw, we were ready for some boxes which the waitress quickly dropped off along with the cheque but never asked if we were interested in dessert or an after dinner drink. Frankly, we felt we were an inconvenience to her dinner and chit chat with the other server. I REALLY wish I could give more stars because I really want to like all restaurants in Franklin Township, but, our server had no interest in us as customers. Sadly, she made our dining experience painful instead of pleasant. Had she cracked even one smile or said anything to us instead of running off as fast as she could each time we needed something, we'd probably visit two or three times a month. But, there are so many other friendly establishments in Franklin Township with as good or better food. Truly, I wish I could give more stars but on the merits of the food on this visit, three stars. As a side note - I saw the tenderloin sandwich being delivered to a table near us and it looked spectacular. If I were to ever try them again, I would get the tenderloin. read more
