Some of the best pizza around. It's a 30 minute ride from my house and it's well worth the trip. The regular cheese pizza is so tasty. Has a unique and fresh taste that I struggle to find elsewhere. Also very reasonably priced. You can tell they use fresh ingredients in every bite. Only reason it's not 5 stars is the staff is a little inconsistent. But overall pretty good. Highly recommend if you're craving pizza and want to feel good after eating it. They also have a bunch of different toppings and specialty pizzas. And I've tried a bunch of them and every single one of them has been delicious. Salads are also fresh and delicious. They market themselves as a restaurant that uses fresh and organic ingredients. Finally got to try Flatbread after my entire freshman year @Brown. They did not disappoint! The seating area was huge; way much more room than you would even expect it to hold. I ordered the Providence community flatbread because I was in the mood for something simple. It was delicious. There was just the right amount of caramelized onions and mushrooms, and the sauce was awesome. Even though there were not that many toppings on mine, the crust part did get a bit soggy/weighed down. Generally I like to get pizza from independent places and stay away from restaurant chains but Flatbread is an exception. All the ingredients are fresh, service is excellent and you get the same feeling as you would at an independent shop. Came in here for Valentines night and had a really good time. We ordered our custom pizza with roasted red peppers, fennel sausage, sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms, and it was great. Two of us did a great job at cleaning up the plates. Hand flattened dough coated with the freshest of ingredients. A stellar staff of finely feathered people that are personable and fun. My delight was all their intent! That pork mopsy tho!! I typically am not a fan of pineapple on pizza (don't judge!), but there was some type of umami flavor thing going on that superseded previous pineapple presuppositions. This is our all time favorite place to go for a great pizza in all of R.I. Nothing beats how fresh and delicious the pizza at Flatbread is!!! We have been numerous times and last weekend we were craving it. We called ahead when we were about 10 minutes away and our name was added to the list. When we arrived we waited about 15 minutes and were seated. I had a maple cherry spiked lemonade and hubby had a hard cider. The lemonade was strong! For our pizza we had the Cheese and Herb which (we usually always get, on at least half the pizza) and then on the other half we had the Carne Special. I like how they always have a veggie and meat special going on and they are all usually unique and yummy. The pizza is so fresh out of the wood stove and its perfectly thin and light. We order a large and usually finish the whole thing between the two of us! It's so light that you you don't feel stuffed. A little bit expensive for pizza, but flatbread is a great option for when you want something a little better thought out than normal delivery. The vibe inside is cool, as you can see the pizza ovens. My favorite pizza is the chicken bacon ranch which is a special that appears every so often (other specials I remember are a corn beef and cabbage around st. patrick's day, something creative with potatoes on the pizza). The normal rotation is also very good and easily customizable. This place is really good for groups especially with diverse dietary preferences. They make a really good gluten free pizza and there is always a vegetarian pizza special along with their meat-based special. If they have a special topped with ranch and you don't get it, order the homemade ranch for dipping. It's "so good I could drink it" which I unfortunately said out loud too close to one of the servers, who dared me to take a sip...no regrets read more

As a Brown student I dined here countless times during college and beyond, most recently ordering takeout on a recent COVID Friday night. I'll first speak to the indoor dining experience - Flatbread is a gem on Thayer, where sit down options are slim. The atmosphere is generally casual, but the more upscale flair on pizza makes it a perfect spot to grab a meal with visiting parents of friends. The large indoor bar definitely makes for an adult dining experience. And the space is actually quite large, and serves well for private parties and events, or can accommodate larger tables of 12-15 for special occasions (pre-COVID times). It does get a bit noisy inside just by nature of it being an open space. Certainly has never been a bother while I've been dining, but may want to consider if you're dining with someone who has trouble hearing . The pizza is always great! I haven't officially worked my way through every pie on the menu, but I'd certainly be more than happy to. They use premier ingredients (eg homemade sausage, organic veggies and breads etc) and it shows - I have never been disappointed by the robust flavor each pizza brings. Flatbread excels at delicately balancing their exquisite flavors brought by veggies, meats, and seasonings, without overwhelming with any one taste. Among my favorites are the Homemade Sausage and Jimmy's Free Range Chicken. The only reason they get bumped a star is, unfortunately, the pizza's are a little pricey for the size of the pie (a hungry me could honestly eat a large by myself), and a large can barely be split between two hungry people. Because of that, it does tend to be a more expensive pizza meal than I intend. I will say that I do prefer Flatbread to other local wood/coal fired pizza options, notably Providence Coal Fired Pizza. Always recommend flatbread for that upscale pizza experience, but if you're looking for just a quick pizza dinner, maybe opt for one of the slightly less classy but much cheaper options on Thayer. read more

However the flatbread was pretty rock solid by the time I got it home which was pretty disappointing. Ingredients weren't super flavorful either. Amazing place all around. First off has its own parking albeit it's small. The interior is very spacious with outdoor seating. The menu is simple and staff extremely polite. The salads are very small considering how much they cost, though the ingredients are always are very fresh. Flatbreads, as far as I am concerned, hits the pizza sweet spot. Now, they never claim to be pizza, ever -- these are flatbreads. They flavor combos are extraordinary and thoughtful. Nearly everything on the menu is house-made, organic and local. How much to you love that? You see, they have an outstanding sense of community, and go above and beyond being just considerate. The staff is so friendly and very well versed on the menu. Excellent service all around. The space is HUGE -- really, I was shocked at the size and think it might actually be one of the largest venues in the neighborhood. Their beer menu is super impressive -- carefully selected local brews, and when I say local, I mean about 90% of them are from RI. Finally got a chance to try this place out! I love the atmosphere. The restaurant is huge, with an open kitchen, a large bar, and even a little nook with a library at one end. It smells like wood fire and baked bread. I liked being able to watch my pizza cook in the stone ovens. The flatbreads were pretty good, too. I had the homemade sausage flatbread and my friend had a cheese and tomato sauce flatbread. They stew their own tomato sauce in a cauldron over a wood fire. It was really good. There were a lot of organic and local ingredients too, which is always a plus for me. The restaurant location is not great, which isn't their fault, but it does detract a bit from the whole experience. They do seem to have a lot of parking though, so this helps with the isolation. I've been to other Flatbreads so knew what to expect from the menu when I walked in. This location is so much bigger in size than I expected and is very open. The section we sat in had very high ceilings and you could see part of the exterior of the original building. It's got a nice vibe. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive, almost too attentive, but I'll get back to that. The cocktail menu is great. I'm going to have to go back just to try a few others. The Mule I had was awesome. We split an organic salad with blue cheese to start. It was fresh, flavorful and had a great dressing. We ordered two small flatbreads, the carne special which was meatball with green pepper and onion and a Jack's free range chicken. I appreciate the use of local, organic ingredients and both flatbreads were crispy and flavorful. The chicken one in particular was very well thought out and a good blend of ingredients. I would have liked to see more toppings on the flatbreads. The comment from Jessica S about Bob and Timmy's being better? She's right. The red pizza is much better than the red sauce flatbread I had here. The one thing that I didn't like about the visit was how rushed I felt from start to finish. It was a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was only half-full,so no need to rush. I like to relax on a Sunday afternoon and I didn't feel relaxed during my visit here. Also, most of the tables and chairs are reclaimed from wooden bleachers somewhere out in the great wilds of Wisconsin. The floors are also reclaimed from an old lumber mill in RI. (If u need more in-depth info ask a friendly server.) If all of this aesthetically pleasing info doesn't do it for you, there is a full on book nook with really comfy couches in the back. Who the hell can pish-posh a place where you can get lovingly crafted pizza and drink great craft beers while you read? For picky, less than picky people, they have standard beers and i'm sure they can make less "trendy" mixed drinks if you want. Pizza. Pizza. The pizza is great. Got mushroom and pepperoni flatbread and salad. All fresh, tasty, would highly recommend a visit based on that. Also, pretty cool they allow dogs on the patio. Upon being seated, we saw at least 3 tables getting served before us. No idea what was up with that but we had to grab someone to get served. Tatiane said it best "Such a hipster spot!" That phrase essentially highlights Flatbread and its ambience. It definitely appeals to that group of youngsters in the area. So many people had been talking about Flatbread and I just never made it to them until just before I leave Providence. I decided to give it a try since it came so highly rated. The first time we tried to go there, we went around 7/8pm on a Friday night and it was packed. The wait was going to be about 40 min whether we ate in or ordered out. We decided that we would then order out on our next attempt. Thank you Grubhub because of you we finally got to try out Flatbreads! Like all the recommendations here we decided to go with the kailua pork pizza and a few others that we designed ourselves. Definitely a solid pizza here with a thinish crust and fresh ingredients! I wasn't disappointed by any means but wasn't as blown away as some other people were. What a welcome change from the cramped restaurants on Thayer! The first thing you notice when you walk into Flatbread Co. is the enormity of the place. The decor is very rustic and woodsy--it feels like walking into a spacious hipster ski lodge. Seats are well-spaced out so you can have a conversation without contracting laryngitis from having to yell to be heard. Food is solid, as well. I normally go for the veggie special and I've never been disappointed! Special shoutout to the brownie, it's DELICIOUS, as is the ice cream it comes with. There's also a very big bar, looks like a great place to hang out on a weekday and grab a drink with friends. Tip: This place has gluten-free crusts if you're going with GF friends or are GF yourself! I was in Portsmouth, NH visiting friends this past December and when we were trying to decide where to eat, one of them suggested the Flatbread Company there and said "it's a chain but it's seriously really, really good." We chose something else due to the long wait there and then, miraculously, a Flatbread opened in Providence only a short time later and it was time to try it for myself. I went as soon as I possibly could and haven't been disappointed in any of my experiences there since. I had the opportunity to sit at the bar on my first visit and the bartender that evening gave me a background on all things Flatbread Company. The wooden floors came from an old mill building in Providence, tables and chairs from a high school gymnasium, the wood fired clay ovens were built in the restaurant since they weigh 4,000 lbs each, they only use the ovens along with a cauldron for their sauces meaning no microwaves or heat lamps here, and they try to source as much local, organic ingredients/beer and liquor as possible. Fun fact: you'll notice that this building that lay dormant for years was once an auto garage and they kept the bay windows and well as signage intact in the front of the restaurant. On to the main, main attraction: the pizza. It's fantastic. Flatbread offers daily specials (one meat and one veggie which is sometimes vegan) and have really great specialty pizza options on their every day menu (and will even do a pizza half of one specialty option, half another). The crust is doughy but crisp and whether you get a white pizza or opt for the red sauce they are equally delicious. The best specialty pizza I've had is the Mopsy's Kalua Pork Pie and that's coming from someone who tends to be vegetarian more often than not. It's the perfect combination of a salty chipotle BBQ sauce and sweet toppings. Organic, local, vegan options, craft beer and cocktails.
