Was craving a sandwich while waiting for my flight and decided to try here. I'll start with the good. The gentleman working the kitchen who called out orders was super friendly. There were no napkins anywhere on the tables so he gave me a stack. He also wiped the tables as people left. There are lots of tables and seating, and the bench seats along the wall were cushioned and a nice relief from the hard chairs throughout the airport. Now the bad. I ordered the chicken avocado sandwich for $16 and doesn't come with sides. The avocado was completely missing and the chicken super dry. I had to take a bite of sandwich then sip of water because it absorbed all moisture in my mouth. The toasted bread had no spread so made it taste even dryer! I'll never eat here again. $16 wasted.

Overpriced, mediocre coffee in an airport. What else can you expect ‍ However...the ambiance is nice, good music, comfortable seating and TVs. Good place to kill some time. I enjoyed myself. But if you're looking for a quick cup of coffee, save your money and go to Dunkin or McDonalds.

During a layover in Delta Terminal 4 (both Delta Lounges had long queues) @ JFK, I settled on fast casual Flatiron Coffee Roasters for a quick lunch. Their limited kitchen food menu, had my first choice of an egg salad sandwich which I ordered at the counter and only had to wait 5 minutes before my order was called at the kitchen pick up window. It's located in an airport and one in New York so of course it was overpriced but the egg salad mix and spinach were fresh. And it was on slices of one of my favorite marble rye breads from Eli Zabar. There's a logo for Irving Farm New York Coffee Roasters but I didn't confirm that's the coffee product they offer. But offering food products from local small powerhouse businesses aligns to my consumer preferences. The seating area and floors were cleaned between customers by a nice gentleman employee. There's a communal table with stools that offers outlets to charge your electric devices while you sip on a hot beverage and snack on a baked good. There's also a couch seating area in addition to regular tables and chairs. I had time to check out all the options and Flatiron Coffee Roaster located in the large middle hub section toward the A Gates end is worth checking out.

Excellent grilled chicken and avocado sandwich on hot toasted wheat bread. Lots of coffee and tea options. Comfy eat in area.

This place was conveniently outside Terminal 4 gates. There wasn't much rush. I went for a chai latte, and it was nice.

Don't try to sell regular hot brewed coffee as cold brew- it's not at all the same thing. There's a huge difference in flavor.

Now you can conveniently order a burger in no time from a location in the airport. You place your food order from a touch screen kiosk. You can also watch your order being prepared by employees in the kitchen. This location has the typical Shake Shack vibe and flair. I ordered the single-patty ShackBurger, a made-to-order quarter pound patty of 100% Angus beef with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and ShackSauce on a toasted potato bun. The burger really hit the spot before a flight. The burger was juicy, well-seasoned, and made fresh, with the perfect balance of sauce, cheese, and bun. Simple, classic, and satisfying. For an airport location, the quality held up surprisingly well. Service was a bit slow but everything came out hot and neatly put together. Prices are a bit higher at the airport, but the consistency and flavor made it worth it. Solid choice if you're craving a reliable burger at JFK and want something familiar and filling before takeoff.

Perhaps they're evocative of my childhood and youth, when every diner and burger joint served them. So I headed to Shake Shack for some lovely delicious fries. Ordering is a pain. You use a kiosk. No live people. I had gotten a bottle of water. The screen said to "scan" any other items. There is no barcode and no scanner. After saying three or four times that I couldn't scan the water, someone came over. You have to page through the menu. Ugh. Paid, typed in my name, and waited. And waited. Finally, my name was called, and I got my fries and some napkins. I sat I a lounge chair right across from Shake Shack, and.....the fries were cold. Terrible, awful, crushing disappointment. I so rarely eat fries these days. I was anticipating hot, golden, lovely crispy fries. I got lukewarm semi-limp mostly underdone fries. A sad, sad feeling. There's no seating at Shake Shack, but you can sit at a gate or take your food with you. Employees were working very hard, so it's strange that my fries were cold. I picked them up right away when my name was called. I probably won't come back, if I am in this terminal another time.

The high chair we received had a broken safety buckle. When we asked if another high chair was available, we were told they were all like that, which was very concerning. After being seated, it took more than 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge our table. Once we finally ordered, we waited approximately 45 minutes for our food, and only two of the three meals arrived. To make matters worse, we were told there was no clean silverware available and that we would have to wait for utensils. By the time my meal arrived, the other two people in my party had already finished eating. I ordered a veggie omelette, but when it was served, it contained no vegetables at all--just egg and cheese. Between the broken high chair, long waits, lack of clean utensils, incomplete orders, and incorrect food, this was an extremely disappointing experience, especially when trying to grab breakfast before catching a flight.

Dunkin is right in the food court next to a few other food options like H&H Bagels and Custom Burger. The line for Dunkin' was going outside the food court area! It was so long! I decided since I had a lot of time prior to boarding for my flight back home, to wait it out. It certainly was a wait. I ended up waiting about 45 minutes before I could place my order at the register. I ended up getting the following Munchkins - Glazed Donuts Plain Bagel with Cream Cheese Medium Hot Chocolate. By the time I picked up my order and went to my gate, I had about 20 minutes prior to my flight boarding! The hot chocolate was delicious! It was still warm for my flight out to Las Vegas! The bagel was perfectly toasted and there was a decent amount of cream cheese on the bagels. The glazed donuts were just okay. My recommendation would be if it's a early morning flight, and if there is a long line, if you have some extra time, you could order from here, but if your flight is less than 30 minutes in the morning, I'd recommend choosing another option.
