The shrimp were a nice size and the catfish were crispy how I like it! Pack your patience as it comes to parking, there's only street parking. My review is focused on the negative than the positive. I came here for the first time and upon opening the entrance gate it made a really loud bang because the "garage door" that is used to when restaurant is closed was not pushed up all the way. Every time someone entered you heard the loud bang. After entering the lady with the blonde curly wig was rude. All she said was "for 2?" No hello, no good morning, no warm welcome at all just attitude. Once we sat down, I said thank you and she just walked away. Upon leaving she was standing at the stand just staring, no smile, I have a good day, nothing so I said thank you with a smile and she gave me a dry you're welcome. Not sure if the greeter that did not greet us was having a bad morning but she should leave that attitude at the door because it definitely affected my experience and the tip. It was our first time trying this place. Will we come back yes but if I were to walk in and she was the greeter, I would probably just turn around and walk out as customer service can make air break a business and she needs to work on hers. Our actual server was a ray of sunshine. He made us feel welcomed and showed he appreciated us for trying the restaurant. Every time he approached our table, his energy was up beat and kind. Our server did not introduce herself but she was attentive to our needs. We were served a proper portion of food for the price. So much food we ALL had leftovers to go. The food was delicious and served hot. No lukewarm food here. One of my out of town guest is a picky eater, but she really enjoyed her meal. Although we had to wait a bit longer to be seated and for our food due to a few of their staff calling out that day, the food did not disappoint. The chicken was fried crispy and very WELL SEASONED; something that seems hard to come by these days. My goodness! This place is the local G.O.A.T. for breakfast for the soul. The Peach Cobbler French Toast rocks my world. While visiting The City of Angels, (from the bay) the besties, I a crew decided to grab a bite to eat. While the food was tasty, I found a couple of uncleaned shrimp in my batch, so I had to eat around it. And even though we had a bit of a wait, we didn't mind because, they let us gather in the back room to chill on the couch and chairs, so we chatted it up until our table is ready. Willie was awesome and on it checking on us every chance he got. Ambience was mellow, but full of love. The Peach Cobbler French Toast is what they are known for and I can see why. If you are someone who likes a sweet breakfast you are going to love this flavorful breakfast that tastes like it should just be dessert. We also trips the fried chicken and it was just like being in your mom's kitchen which is my preferred fried style. The sunrise was frozen at the bottom so hard to enjoy until that was melted but once it did it was delicious. The grits could have used more cheese and seasoning in my opinion but were still good with the sauce on top. The was a bit of a wait, we were told it was going to take about 30 minutes to be seated and ended up waiting close to an hour to get seated. It was a Sunday, and they seemed like they needed more staff. Overall I would go again but would likely order take out and pick up and just eat at home. read more

My family has been here a few times and each time did not disappoint. Food is always fresh, and it's not called FLAVOR table for no reason, the flavor is definitely there! I often pay some stranger's tab as I leave in an effort to spread the wealth. Parking can be a challenge, but I am not aware of any reports of vehicle thefts or damage owing to one's patronage of the Flavor Table. Even with the line, they turn the tables over fairly quickly. We barely waited 5 mins. Food..OMG almost everything we ordered was FIRE (salmon croquettes were a bit too salty and fishy..but still tastes decent. The catfish plate with grits was just perfect. Fluffy flaky fish with the well seasoned crispy outside!. My Mom lost her mind over the peach cobbler French toast! And my uncle was in heaven eating the short ribs and grits! On November 1, 2025, at approximately 8:30 a.m., my friend and I decided to try breakfast at Flavor Table. We informed the hostess that another friend would be joining us shortly and called her to confirm her estimated arrival time, which was about 10 minutes. To avoid delaying seating, we notified the hostess again. However, she told us that if we were seated before our friend arrived, our friend would not be allowed to join us later. We found this response unreasonable and chose to leave. I respectfully suggest that the hostess clearly explain any seating or guest-waiting policies upfront to avoid confusion. Additionally, the hostess's demeanor came across as dismissive and rude, which made the experience unpleasant. Without too many details, the front of the house isn't his strong suit and it's quite clear, the owner doesn't care. The weight wasn't that long as it used to be. We also went mid week. The staff is always friendly and inviting and there's always such a warm feel to the place. Went ahead and got the fried catfish and eggs and shrimp and grits. The fried catfish has always been one of our favorites. The seasoning on the breading is one of a kind. Flavor in every single bite. And the breading to catfish ratio is perfect. Do you still get chunks of white flaky, juicy moist catfish in every bite, and that I was so good seasoning on the outside. Fried to perfection. Shrimp and grits were pretty tasty as well. Flavorful and cooked well. One of the best we've had. But definitely not the star of the show. Anytime we're in the area.
