Inside the Thompson Savannah, and just as ornate. We've only eaten breakfast here, so I cannot comment on dinner. I ordered the oatmeal. Seemed to be the healthy and light meal for the day ahead. I asked server to omit the walnuts. I'm not allergic, I just don't think they add anything to the oatmeal. First attempt had walnuts, along with the berries and puffed rice. I reminder her of the no walnut request. Second attempt had no puffed rice, but still had walnuts. Third attempt had no walnuts, no puffed rice, but was room temperature. I decided to eat and move on. Staff seemed friendly, and the restaurant is clean. Oddly, I'd probably try it for dinner. read more

This place was absolutely amazing!!! Everything to the location, the atmosphere, the staff and even better the food!!! I came here on a date and the wait staff was so nice! I would finish my water and they would be right there filling it up again. I will say this is more on the pricy side but totally worth it! I ended up having the grilled oysters and the warm smoky dates to start off with. Then for my "main" course I had the salt and pepper shrimp. Since I was on a date I didn't get to see the total but I have a feeling it was a pretty penny. But I'm glad I was able to experience this place. I would highly recommend coming here. read more

Fleeting is a beautiful new restaurant on the Eastern Wharf just south of the Savannah River. Words don't adequately describe this place. It's at once old Savannah and brand new big city. I love having the amenities of both worlds. The food: very good. All the entrees are well paired with sides that complement them. In fact, at Fleeting you can ask for a side to be removed from an order, but not substituted for something else. Since they only prepare and serve dishes that are in season, they consider their food 'fleeting' (and thus the name.) I honestly don't normally care for veggies, other than the occasional salad, but at Fleeting, I found myself eating vegetables like asparagus, tubers, and mushrooms quite happily! All the food was absolutely perfect. The waiter was very attentive and the only complaint is that Mr.O's cold glass of milk took a long time to come. It finally arrived just before we finished dessert. I would have given this amazing restaurant five stars but, although we had made reservations well in advance, there seemed to be much discussion when we arrived about where they would seat us. Everyone was nice; they just acted like we were not expected and they didn't know where they would seat us. I highly recommend Fleeting. It was a great experience. After dinner we went up to the roof to The Julian Bar and enjoyed the sunset. Amazing experience! read more

We made a reservation weeks in advance and then when we checked in for our table with the host we were told we would have to wait 20minutes for the table. We were then sitting around in the lobby/bar area waiting 20 min for the table. And the servers did not seem like they had enough staff to cover the tables. The food was good, the plating was done nicely, and I enjoyed seeing the chefs prepare the food with an open concept. read more

We were there for Easter breakfast (no brunch) and very very happy with all the dishes that our group of 6 ordered. Here is what we got to try: Steak and eggs: did a great job with the steak, ordered medium rare and it's not your rib eye but nicely done and tasty French toast brûlée: very good, not too sweet but would be nice to add maybe some additional color on the plate Classic breakfast: typical breakfast, 2 eggs, bacon, toast Gluten free pancakes: very good and fluffy, not too sweet. But maybe could add a little color to the presentation Sweet potato 'something': mix of cooked sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts, regular potatoes - great option for a vegetarian eater. Was delicious. Perfect for date night or breakfast with a friend! Upscale and modern, the restaurant is located inside the lobby of the Thompson Hotel in the new development along the river walk beyond the Marriott. It was my first time there and I loved the sleek, wood and chrome decor that reminded me of a luxury ship interior from the 1920s. We had a reservation and arrived a bit early and they seated us quickly and gave us a quiet table. The (square) stevedore biscuits and gravy were delicious, although the scrambled eggs could have used another minute on the griddle. My cortado was lovely and my friend claimed that the gluten-free pancakes were light as air and "heavenly." All in all a wonderful dining experience and I am now looking forward to trying their dinner menu and taking a look at the wine list. This gem is inside the swanky Thompson Hotel. They just started having Jazz Brunch on Sundays and the brunch menu is as every bit as good, as their dinner. It's a lovely place to join your classy friends, your love one, or to impress a date. It's not the spot for loud, mimosa overload conversations. My favorite? The Chai Spiced Pancakes!!! There's nothing like them any where on this planet! After a plate of those, ya just might wanna get a room...if you know what I mean. read more

Visited savannah for the weekend and decided to make a reservation at Fleeting after reading about it in an article. It did live up to the expectations. Minimal and classy decor with fine dining vibe. Our server Alex was friendly and took good care of us. We ordered two appetizers and both were excellent. Our entree was a bit disappointing in terms of the size of the fish. Been to fine dining before so wasn't expecting such a small piece of fish. Went to Fleeting as I've seen them on IG and Thompson hotels IG account. They have looked great and wanted to give it a try. Got a reservation and had great table by the window and was able to see the activity within the kitchen which is always a fun aspect as you watch the chefs preparing the food. I wanted to give 4.5 ranking as I couldn't give a full 5. That downgrade in all honesty was the fault of the hostess stand and lack of attentiveness to those waiting to be seated. The table service and the food on the other hand is the true saving grace. Their food is delicious and has great creativity from the chefs. The grilled oyster app is flavorful and worth every penny. The wood grilled fish dish is one they need to keep on their menu. The chefs have that one down pat. The shaved collard salad though I must say was the best. Their anchovy dressing was one of the most flavorful I've had in a long time and I'd eat that salad as my main course the next time as it was that good. If you can go eat here, you need to make the time. It was a great meal and I enjoyed going and I'll go back again to try some more of their kitchen staff's creations. read more

My fiancé and I were recently visiting Savannah and stayed at the Thompson, which is a newer hotel in the area. The aesthetic of the entire building is so pleasing, and this includes Fleeting which is housed in the Thompson! It is beyond beautiful. We randomly met a nice woman in the elevator that mentioned she ran the restaurant downstairs so I had to try it; it was so delicious! The sweet potatoes in the veggie spring bowl were *chef's kiss*. The wait wasn't long and they had a steady crowd. I definitely plan to visit again. 10/10 would recommend. read more

We were excited to try this restaurant during restaurant week but left quite disappointed. We were a party of 12 and all ordered the restaurant week specials. While the appetizers were good, the main entrees were not. Food was bland and boring. The crab/noodle dishes were cold and had to be reheated. Some desserts were frozen. I top of all that, the added gratuity for large parties was a whopping 22%! Even the bottles of wine had a gratuity charge of 22%! (Which by the way, the same wine is $16 at Kroger)! Save your money and don't bother with Fleeting! It's not worth a fleeting moment of time. read more

Fleeting is the restaurant inside the Thompson Hotel down by the river in Savannah. It's an open concept kitchen with the food being prepared right in front of the diners. Our experience was with breakfast as we stayed at the Thompson for the evening. The space felt like every other restaurant in a Thompson hotel that we've stayed at, which is to say it's elegant and upscale. The menu is ever changing, probably based on seasons. However, it still had the traditional breakfast items. The coffee was strong. The orange juice tasted fresh squeezed. We ordered both the steak and eggs and the classic breakfast. The steak was cooked well and had decent flavor. The eggs were supposed to be over easy, but came scrambled instead. The classic breakfast had scramble eggs, skillet potatoes and sausage. The sausage was a little salty. The scramble eggs was a tad overcooked by the time it got to the table, but not inedible and the potatoes was just okay. I guess my expectations were higher with the ambiance and decor that the restaurant portrays. However, the service was friendly albeit we'll give her a pass for mixing up eggs over easy with scramble eggs. I guess the really comes down to would I come here again if I wasn't staying at the hotel? Probably not, but for the time being and until the surrounding developments get built out, this is pretty much the only option unless you want to make 10-15 minute walk up the hill into the historical district. read more

Hands-down on of the best restaurants I've been to. We ordered a couple salad dishes, their oyster small plate, and a trout dish for a main. Everything was cooked so wonderfully with great, unique flavors and plated beautifully. The oyster dish was AMAZING! The oysters were baked in a tomato sauce with the most delightful crispy capers. The trout was cooked to perfection (yummy crispy skin) and served with seasonal vegetables. Their menu clearly rotates with seasonal produce, which is a huge win in my book. Our waitress was wonderful. They had a very interesting wine list and our server recommended a wine that pair perfectly with our food. Highly recommend. The restaurant is right on the Savannah River path and you can take a nice stroll post-dinner. read more

I'm not one to write a bad review. But the service was awful last night (24 FEB) . Went last night with a buddy after a long day at work. We both wanted steak and some good cocktail. Never had an issue before with fleeting. Last night walked at 800 pm . Got seated right away. Ordered two old fashions and the $95 steak. Drinks were great no issues . After 45 min sitting there the waitress comes by says our food will be out shortly . Steaks finally arrive at 915. No big issue we didn't have anything planned . The steaks come out like warm and was just okay. Not it's normal level of perfection .Okay no big deal. Then the waitress brings out the salad . Oh forgot your salad that comes with your steak . Our cocktails were empty for over . No refills on water . The restaurant was half empty and only one large table. I'm a fan of the hotel, the restaurant, and bar Julian . Last night was definitely an off night for them. I hope some one reads this and takes time to recalibrate the staff and process. For an upscale restaurant in Savannah really disappointed. read more

I learned about this place the day we visited by reading reviews online and based on what I read, was surprised to find it fairly empty inside with hostess, doorman, and managers very friendly and eager for our patronage. I can see why. Beautiful food presentation but taste misses the mark for the high price point. Three of us paid over $200 (pretip) for 2 mains - duck and steak- and 4 sides - spring rolls, roasted carrots, veg fricassee, dates. 1 beer and 1 small glass of wine. I ordered 3 veggie sides for my meal and am not a huge eater but left hungry. Daughter ordered the steak- market price was $74. Sticker shock for sure. Server was not super attentive, seemed unenthusiastic about food/drink menu and disinterested. To her credit however, she did inform us all the apps and veggie sides were small and not sharing size. Great wood smoke flavor in a couple of the menu items (little gem salad with the duck) and a beautiful dining room. No toilet paper in any of the bathroom stalls either. Glitz and glam fell short of the mark. Glad I tried a new place but will not return. read more

We had a party of 12 for Restaurant Week and dined at Fleeting restaurant. The atmosphere was very nice as we were sat in a semi private area. At first, the service was good as the server took our drink orders. Because of the size of the group, and it being restaurant week, we were provided a pre-fixed meal for $60 per guest. We ordered cocktails or wine. The "Amuse" and "First" courses were small, but good. The main course selection consisted of either a crab rigatoni or house made sausage and polenta. All 6 couples ordered one of each. When we received the meals, the pasta servings were small and cold and had very little flavor. The sausage was bland at best. We asked to return the pasta and the server informed us that it was cold because cold crab was on top. However, the pasta itself was cold. A number of our party returned the pasta for heating. Once we received the plates back from the kitchen, the pasta was slightly warmed but had been placed under a heat lamp which dried it out. We finished the mains, and were served our desert. This was still frozen. At this stage we finished our evening. Several in our party left their meals unfinished. Because this was a large party, the restaurant added 22% gratuity to the group including the bottles of wine. The customary charge is 18% and 10% for wine. Restaurant week in Savannah is an opportunity to try new establishments. Its an opportunity for the restaurant to show off their best. Fleeting missed it with 6 local couples. We will not go back and cannot recommend this restaurant. read more

The food was excellent. Though an item limited menu, the offerings were well prepared, very tasty, and though a bit costly, honest portions. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that it is very loud. The restaurant sits off the main entrance and bar for the hotel and there was a very loud event complete with DJ in the entrance. Our party was seated at the far end of the dining area, away from the entrance, but it was still very hard to hear one another against the background cacophony. The atmosphere was nice, pretty casual. If you go there with a large party all members need to be present before being seated, but our reservation was still held for us. For appetizers our group had; georgia pork & cheese plate (this was a group favorite); country captain chicken spring rolls (it was ok, wouldn't order again. Then again I'm Asian I know my spring rolls); and roasted east coast oysters (also a group favorite) For my entree I had the koji aged spiced duck breast; muscadines, celery root, green tomato, sourdough brioche crouton. The portions are small, I don't eat much and was able to eat the whole thing. I think this dish would be a snack for a grown man. There was about a spoonful of what seemed to be a potato purée. I really wish more of that was added. For dessert I had poached plum brûlée; grilled plum mousse, thai basil, sweet biscuit crumble, caramel. It was a good combination of sweet and tart. The tart was a surprise. The service was excellent! We were there for 4 hours, not once did we feel rushed to get out. In fact we had to ask for the bill when she came to our table at the end. This is a restaurant which makes me WOW. Came from NYC and we had visited most of the michelin 3 stars, I have to say Fleeting definitely has the potential to be one of them. When the waitress arrived I do what I always do before ordering, I ask, "What are the favorites?" When a staff member answers "Everything!" I know instantly they are new, don't know the menu and I wasn't wrong. We ordered our appetizers, entrees, and vegetable sides. About 5 minutes later the first appetizer arrived, only seconds after that both vegetables arrived and seconds after that our oysters arrived. We were now sitting there with a table full of plates. This is when management arrived and tried to correct this by taking one side away which was already cold when it arrived at the table. So if this weren't the only issue, the food was just meh. The spring rolls were bland and tasted like dusty Burger King chicken fries. The oysters were fine. The polenta was cold both times it was brought to the table and was also bland not rich like I had hoped. The potatoes were the best item on the menu which doesn't say much about the innovation of their food. I could make those potatoes. My filet was perfectly cooked inside but the cocoa crust was burnt and bitter. My husband's dry aged steak was also prepared correctly and had a lovely sauce but oddly came with a side of arugula which appeared later on a separate plate like an after thought. The final course dessert was hands down the worst. We ordered a chocolate tart. How could this go wrong?!?! It was inedible, bitter, hard crust and chalky. We each only had one bite. I can say with certainty that this is the first time I have not been able to eat a dessert in my life. Probably the worst dining experience I have had at this level. Not a fan of custard but the chocolate custard and no bake cheesecake was to die for as well! Not only was the food good but our server was amazing as well!
