I came here for lunch one day and was pleasantly surprised by my experience! When we arrived, the line was out the door. That typically gets anxiety, but then a worker asked us how many in our party and gave us our table number (hm?). We got to the counter and placed our orders - I chose to go for the plate with 2 sides, and a protein (chicken). My 2 sides were the japanese eggplant and sichuan green beans. YUMMY. It was so flavorful and delicious - with just the right amount of spice. Anyways, after we placed our order, we went over to the drink station, which is where you would also get your silverware/chopsticks/straws, etc. Then, you find the table number the 1st worker gave to you. Score! I love that they pre-assign you a table, it makes the peak times so much less stressful. The food came out relatively quickly and the presentation was beautiful. I highly recommend this place! I'll be honest- this isn't the type of restaurant I go out of my way to explore. I rarely eat healthy foods when I go out because I feel like it's a waste. I was skeptical, but my friend I was with is vegan and suggested Flower Child. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience to say the least! Setting: This sounds cheesy, but I felt a little happier just walking through the door. The inside is full of positive decorations with bright colors, cute wall art and real flowers everywhere. It has a very hippie, trendy, and "fresh" feel. Food: -Avocado toast: it was what I expected -Brussel Sprouts: it had a nice citrusy, balsalmic flavor -Thai Cashew Quinoa: Very flavorful and highly recommend this! -Grilled Tofu: This was my choice of protein- nothing special about it because it is what it is. -Mac & Cheese: Not healthy, but it tasted like a "healthier" mac & cheese option if that makes sense. As in the cheese was a little chalky and it lacked some flavor. Price: The prices are steep in relation to the portions provided. However the food is very high quality, the restaurant is very aesthetic and in a nice area so the price is to be expected. Food was definitely okay at best for kind of a steep price. I had the Mediterranean Quinoa salad and it was fairly good, but isn't $9 worth with an additional charge of $4 for plain tofu slapped into the bowl. The dressing was very flavorful and the self-service hot sauces offered were good, and veggies were fresh but that's as far as quality goes. I ordered tofu for my choice of protein and it seemed to either be grilled or baked, which was fine but... it was unseasoned... I don't understand why I paid $4 for a few piece of unseasoned (or under-seasoned) tofu. I had a pleasant experience due to good company, but the food wasn't anything special and I wouldn't come back for more. My friends and I ended up paying $14-18 for such small portions. read more

Beautiful place to eat. Nice and clean. You order in the line and they'll give you a number. They're good about splitting the check at the counter too. We had a group of four, and had no issues splitting up everyone's own meals. They have a lot of choices on their menu to choose from. I like how you can even do a vegetarian option. They have some beers and wine options if you're wanting something tasty to go with your food. I came for a girls brunch and we had shared a bottle of Prosecco. The food came out quickly. The salmon was cooked perfectly. I also had the avocado toast and the sweet corn quinoa. The corn was a dish served hot. It was different than what I thought it would be like, but it was good. Not my favorite though. I think the yogurt being hot threw me off. Apparently it is one of their popular dishes, so I would suggest trying it. I might be one of the few that do not care for it. Flower Child is super popular for weekday lunches, so expect a wait. On the other hand, my sister-in-law went for a weekday dinner and said it wasn't full at all. During the lunch rush, this is how it worked -- You get in line (which will most likely be out the door and down the sidewalk a bit if you show up at peak times like 12-1 on a weekday) and order/pay at the counter. They give you a number and assign you a table based on your party size. This helps keep things flowing so that people are seated in a timely fashion. My go-to item is the Mother Earth Bowl with whatever protein I feel like adding that day (salmon was good but pricey at $7). It is fresh and hearty while still being both delicious and nutritious and minimally processed. G got the Glow Bowl but without jalapeños because she didn't want it spicy - neither of us was super impressed with it. Wouldn't get it again. It was just a bit lackluster and tasted too "healthy" -- not delicious enough. The chocolate chip cookie was tasty BUT has coconut in it... which neither G or I like, but she didn't realize it had coconut until after she already paid for it (because it wasn't in the item name on the label, only way down in the ingredients list). read more

This is slowly becoming one of my favorite places to dine in Houston. It's as if Local Foods and True Food had a child - - that's what this place is. It's amazing healthy selections with great service and a brow that's not too high. It is located in Uptown Park, but it's not as pretentious as some of its neighbors. I've been here twice now: once for lunch and once for dinner. Lunch was a fun experience. My friend and I placed our order, paid, and were told our table number. Then, we got to go find our table in the restaurant! This is a great way of managing crazy lunch crowds and awkward "is this table taken?" conversations with strangers. Dinner, however, was different. Perhaps because we wanted to sit outside or it wasn't as crazy busy as lunchtime, we were handed our table number and were able to choose a spot! Both times, service was efficient, and servers were kind. Both times I've patronized Flower Child, I have had the same meal: Mother Earth with chicken. It's basically a bowl of deliciousness ancient grains, sweet potato, portobello mushrooms, avocado, cucumber, broccoli pesto, charred onion, leafy greens, red pepper miso vinaigrette, and hemp seeds. I stop by Flower Child upon an invitation from my friend after our meeting. Is quasi self-service. You order the food and they bring it to your table. You get your own drinks and silverware. The food: I had the bowl with spicy japanese eggplant, sichuan green bean and grass fed beef, supposedly cooked medium. Love the protein, but it was well done rather than medium. Both carbs were too sweet to my liking. Portion was very small. I was still hungry after the meal. Maybe I need to order more sides. Soup - not sure what kind of soup, please see photo. It was tasty, but too thick for my liking. My friend ordered the soup with the salad. Can't comment on the salad because I did not try it. There is outdoor siting but quite limited, over looking the parking lot. The restrooms are gender-neutral. She's been to the Dallas location and enjoyed it, so I thought let's give it shot! Ambiance/Atmosphere: I'm talking about this first because of how I felt when I walked in. It's light and airy and just makes me feel calm and happy. I liked the decor and how much sunlight was entering the open and spacious building. There's also a small patio area facing the parking lot where you can sit (if it's not too hot). Service: Once you enter, head on over to the counter to look at the menus and order. The lady at the register and overall staff were very friendly and helpful! It's open seating and the cashier will give you a number and the food is brought out to you, but you can get your own water and utensils. FOOD: We ordered 2 bowls and a soup of the day to share. I believe the soup was a Potato and Leek soup which was creamy, but not too thick and tasted great. I got the MOTHER EARTH bowl as recommended by my sister. It has ancient grains, sweet potato, portobello mushroom, avocado, cucumber, pistachio pesto, charred onion, leafy greens, red pepper miso vinaigrette, hemp seed and I ADDED Tofu to it (pay extra). My sister's bowl was seasonal I believe, because I can't find it on the menu now, but we also added Tofu to it. BOTH BOWLS were delishh! I would HIGHLY Recommend you to try the Mother Earth bowl! The quality of the food combined with the flavors and the fact that I felt full but not stuffed is why this place got 5 Stars from me! Price: The items are not excessively pricey with the highest item on the menu being around $13. It may seem a bit steep to some for the portion sizes, HOWEVER the food quality from taste alone is exceptional. Additionally, Flower Child states that they use fresh ingredients made close to home. With that being said, I would definitely pay this for healthy flavorful food. Cleanliness: The bathrooms were so clean and decorated in the same fashion. The state of a business' bathroom, speaks volumes to a customer on how well the overall operation is being run and in this case I give it 5 stars! What better way to have a girls brunch than over a healthy meal at flower child! You don't feel bad for whatever dish you choose; so go on and buy that bottle of prosecco. With a group of 4 girls, the bottle gave us 2 pours each. Bubbly goodness so don't skip out! The concept of the establishment is to get in line first, to order, then find a table. I came on a Saturday around 1ish so the line wasn't to bad. If I had to guess-timate there were 15-20 people in front of me and that took maybe around 20ish minutes. If you are in line a lot longer, they have a small booth outside that provides water to keep you hydrated. You can look at it as the hydration station before you kill a bottle of prosecco like we did. Once you reach the cashier, you order and pay and are given a number to take with you, and place on your table. The place looked packed when we got there, so we were worried that we wouldn't be able to get a table inside right away because outside was chilly. We didn't worry for long because shortly after we ordered lots of tables opened up. To keep all our orders on one number (since we were together) they had us all go to one cashier, give our orders and paid individually. They have a good system to keep the flow going. Against the wall you will see where you can grab your utensils as well as water. I ordered "Mother Earth" under the bowls section. The combination of ancient grains, sweet potato, portobello mushrooms, diced cucumber, avocado, broccoli pesto, onions, leafy greens, hemp seeds, and tofu (I added it in) mixed with the red pepper miso vinaigrette was amazing!! It was so good that I should have also ordered one to go! That way instead of dreaming about eating it again, I could just open my fridge and eat. Well, I didn't so I'm left to dreaming about it. Flower Child is the new, hot restaurant to go to in 2018. Now this is a chain that just opened their first Houston location and so I am expecting that they should have everything down on good food and service. I came here because my dining companion is vegan and I know they have a great vegan menu. Once you enter the restaurant, you will order from the counter and there's two entrances, one for dine in and the other one is for to-go. When you order at the counter, they will assign a number and will already drop off at a table that's pre-assigned to your party so you do not have to have one person find a table and sit there to "reserve" it for the whole party. Beverages such as water and tea is self-serve, along with all the utensils and napkins are self-serve as well. Once the food is ready, they will have a food runner deliver it to your table and take your number away once everything has arrived. I ordered The Plates, and if you order 3 plates, it will be a total of $9, so basically $3 a plate. I got Indian Inspired Cauliflower, Sauteed Spinach, and Yuzu Brussels Sprouts. My dining companion got the Vegan Poke, and we both got a beer. Once I paid at the counter, we got our beer and found our table. I really like the atmosphere that's inside the restaurant, very hip and chic. Our food came out in good time and I got to say, the plates are definitely a bit smaller than I thought it's gonna be so 3 plates didn't really fill me up, especially it's mostly vegetables but I felt pretty satisfy with my food. The vegan poke looked really good and I took a bite of it and it tasted really delicious. All the vegetables I got are great and well cooked. I can definitely see why this place is a popular place here in the Galleria area. I would certainly come back and try other vegan food here, or maybe if I feel rich, I will add a protein to my food. What turnt me off from this place is that they (the houston location) isn't registered with DoorDash. However, you can download the app, pay the additional $20 in fees per order only to have your food delivered by DoorDash... you see the problem? Us DoorDash users pay for a monthly subscription to where the fees are either discounted or eliminated if you ordered directly thru the app because you have a subscription. I first had tried flowerchild in austin and spent 60$ on my very first order- viable DOORDASH! From that moment on, they had me... However, I feel entirely ripped off on this order. You all do not offer the benefits of DoorDash because of whatever the company may lose by becoming an affiliate. But yet, you utilize their delivery service. Anyway, I ordered a salad and a Mother Earth bowl... you can guess that the salad and the bowl both were room temperature. Please tell me why I paid so much in fees on YOUR app 'flower child' only for my order to be delivered via DoorDash and receive such crap type of quality in food temperature??? The only reason I can't give them a 5 star is because unfortunately as must as I hate to say they are not consistent with there food. Consistency with food is a really big thing for me. The very first time I ever tried them I was amazed at the gluten-free Mac and cheese and the veggies and omg the salmon was so yummy a wet. Just everything was heaven. We grabbed our table number and picked a comfy seat near the window. It gets lots of natural light, which is really nice. It's a really cute set up, the tables are mostly spaced well enough, but some were tighter than others. All of the tables seem to follow a theme of mismatched chairs, and honestly it's cute. So for food, we got the Thai Dye wrap, and it was really good. The wrap claims to be house made with whole wheat, flax and chia seeds and I don't know what else but they were delicious. We grabbed a side of the Brussels sprouts and I was genuinely sad when they were gone. I love brussels so maybe I'm biased but really, try them. And my bf ordered the Thai Cashew Quinoa with salmon. I don't like seafood much but this was perfect. My bf didn't even want to try my wrap because he loved his food so much. (That's a first!) We also indulged in a glass or Prosecco and a local beer. I had seen that a couple of my acquaintances had gone here and knew I had to try it. As soon as you walk in you are good to order. The offer multiple options from salads to creating your own plate. That is what I chose to do. I had the salmon, with mashed potatoes, & broccoli. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The mash was amashing. & the roasted broccoli with the hint of lemon was delicious!! My bf had the chicken, sweet potatoes, and Mac n cheese (which is so delicious as well). Only reason I did not give 5 stars is because in one occasion that I went there was a hair in the mashed potatoes But I will say that the manager on duty was very apologetic, I got a new plate of food and he also reimbursed me for it. I've been to Flower Child twice and enjoyed both experiences. This order I grabbed my food to go. 3 sides (sweet potatoes, macaroni, Indian spiced cauliflower) and a protein (steak) plate. I was able to get this for about $16 so not bad at all price wise. I also like that they have a variety of options for sides all flavorfully seasoned. I really wanted the avocado toast but was worried it would be too much food. The portions are really good for the price point. You can also call ahead or order online. Even though I went at a less than busier time (Sunday afternoon) you can cut down on the 15 minute or so wait by doing that. My favorite side thus far are the sweet potatoes!!! I have tried the simple hummus, kale salad, vegan poke and spicy Japanese eggplant. Everything was delicious. For hummus, feel free to ask for refill for pita bread. I don't think this place is great for large parties of five or more. I had no issues finding a table for two people at 11:30am on a week day but the line soon formed shortly after, and went out the door plus some. You order at the counter and someone will seat you based on where you are in line, and sets your number on the table for you. First of all, I've never seen a place with a line out the door like this, except for Torchy's Tacos when it first came to Houston. I wanted to get a "to-go" order but that door was locked, so the wait was absolutely brutal in 90 degree heat. I had the Vietnamese crunch salad ($8) and red mango tisane drink ($3.50). The salad was good, but I feel like it's pretty pricey for the small sized container. It was supposed to have all these fresh herbs like basil, cilantro, and mint, but I could barely tell they were there. It was mostly cabbage and definitely zero cashews...maybe a couple pieces of bell pepper. But, the lemongrass dressing was good. I loved the drink. It was unsweetened but was very refreshing, and they have pretty big cups so you get a lot of it. I'm not sure if it was a bit of a letdown since they were crazy packed and my order was to-go. Since I have the mentality "well if it's this busy, surely it's good?!" I'll definitely give them another shot. Plus, SO much on their menu sounds good, from salads, to entrees, to bowls. I was very excited to try Flower Child for a late lunch with my mom. I had heard of all the veg options and could wait! There was no line when we arrive and ordered our food very quickly, 1 bowl and 1 plate of two veggies. I ordered the Mother Earth bowl and added tofu. It was delicious! The only problem is this is something I could (and do) make at home. There was nothing really special with the flavors or ingredients. My mom ordered the plate with 2 veggies. They were out of the Indian Spiced Cauliflower so she ordered the Spicy Japanese Eggplant and the Red Chili Glazed Sweet Potato. It wasn't enough food and the employee didn't mention adding a protein to make it an actual meal. She ended up eating about 1/4 of my bowl to have enough food so she wasn't starving. It was my first gist there this past Friday. Place was clean, staff was friendly and the food was GREAT. However, the place was packed and instead of having two ladies working on the register they had one taking calls and taking space in the front register While the other one lady took orders. My suggesting is that the girls at the register I've FULL ATTENTION to the customer preset there and someone else handle the phone from another place in the restaurant. Although I am not a practicing vegan any longer, I was eager to try out Flower Child, a new restaurant in Uptown Park, located right next to Cafe Express. First thing I noticed, pulling up for lunch, was a really hip building some cute paint on the wall and some minimal outside seating, but the thing that really caught my attention was the line that was stretched out the front door. I figured, either, 1. They just opened 5 minutes ago or 2. People love this place! Here are my thoughts in a nutshell. Service: Despite being slammed busy - the "Table Valet" guy was friendly and efficient; the ladies behind the counter were also pleasant and answered questions despite 40 people standing behind me. They take your food order and send you to a table with a number on it. The food came out in about 10 minutes, and we forgot to pick up silverware, which the kind worker noticed and remedied without us asking. Food: Ok. I had the steak, brussell sprouts, and something called tomato toast. Let us start with the Tomato Toast- described in one word - (crazygood). See menu from my photos. The steak was slightly tough, but seasoned perfectly. They have several types of teas, and I had the green tea with mango / jalepeno. Very good. We've been here twice and here's everything we've tried: Mac and cheese delicious! Sichuan green beans delicious! A bit spicy but perfect for us. Avocado hummus very good but after several bites I got tired of it but the bread served with it was delicious. Indian Spiced Cauliflower very good! Vegan ingredient salad has a lemony dressing and fresh off the Cobb corn! Loved it! Organic Smashed potato's really good and I love they are organic! We love this place because you can get healthy, tasty food in a casual atmosphere and the bonus is they have a patio so we can take our baby with us! read more

Had a nice experience trying this place out with a friend. Once you enter, you need to order and once paid, you can take a seat, and the food is served on your table. The servers were very quick and the place was busy, when we got there on a Thursday at 6 pm. I tried the fresh coconut water served in a freshly cut coconut and spicy coconut curry.
