This spot is popping. Opened a few months ago and the line can be out of the door during peak meal times. There is indoor seating and a covered outdoor patio. You order at the counter and then they bring it to your table. It's great to have a new spot in town with lots of vegetarian options!!! They also have a house kombucha which is a vibe. I really enjoyed the mother earth bowl. Really nice balance of flavors and textures. Pretty filling without adding on a protein. Really fresh. I'll be ordering it again. The spicy green coconut curry was tasty with the fresh herbs and veggies. The spice level is a low ish medium and is the kind that keeps building as you eat. Relatively small portion and you'll probably want to make sure you add on a protein. Large shared parking lot available. We did take out another day and it was pretty clunky ordering online. We had been to Flower Child in other cities when traveling, so we were excited to get one here in Omaha. Unfortunately, we had a weird experience at this location and don't know if we'll be back after it. It was very cute inside and out, with lots of whites, greens, and yellows and an airy and floral/lemon motif. We visited on the Sunday before Labor Day for lunch (it was actually a late lunch, like 2pm-ish) and they were pretty busy. Because of the busy time, I guess they were changing how the ordering works. In the past (in other cities and what I think is the Flower Child norm?), we have ordered at the front, been given a number, and then found a table, sat down, and had our food brought out to us. When we visited the new Omaha location, my husband went to order at the front as usual, but was told that because they are busy they are going to do it a another way and we need to go find a table ourselves and then come back up and order and tell them our table number. If that was how the person stated it, it would have been simple and easy. Instead, they told us this in a very odd way that didn't make sense - there was nobody there to show us what table we could take, and when that seating person did come, they were rolling their eyes at my husband in a rude way. He was just trying to understand this new confusing way of ordering that we had never seen before, and they made him feel embarrassed and like he was dumb or something. Not a nice way to start the meal. He almost wanted to just leave after this interaction, but we were hungry so we stuck it out. The eye-rolling person (who was nowhere to be seen during the confusing conversation about seating, so basically caused the confusion themselves) sat us at a table and later gave us a free cookie, because I think they realized they were in the wrong with how they treated us earlier. The food was right on par with what we were used to and it was delish. No shade to the food, but the service we received was not the best experience. I had the steak entree with the Brussels Sprouts and cauliflower risotto. My husband had the 1924 wrap with chicken, and a side of the sweet corn and quinoa. We both had the lemonade for our drinks and that was good, but I recommend getting it with ice to chill out the sourness and to make it a little colder because it comes out basically room temperature. I think checking out the Omaha location of Flower Child is worthwhile for the food, but I hope you have a better experience than we did when you interact with the staff. read more

I've been here numerous times in the last month, I keep recommending this place! The first thing I tried was the steak entrée with the side of mac & cheese. It's been so hard to deviate from this, since the mac & cheese is one of my favorite in town!! I couldn't believe this was gluten-free the first time I tried it. I stopped in again today, and got the avocado Caesar salad. Absolutely delicious!! the flavor and texture of the dressing was fantastic, a little bit of a lemon flavor, and not too thick and creamy. There was so much texture on the salad as well! I'm not even sure what all was on this, but some grated Parmesan, and I believe some type of nuts? It added so much! I wish I could make this exact salad at home! I got to try a pumpkin muffin while I was in, life-changing as well. Not to mention the green chili, queso appetizer, which I loved, despite not being a huge queso person! First timer and can't wait to try more of the menu! I got the Caesar salad with salmon and loooved how light is tasted. I will say I wish there was some more mixed greens like kale in the mix but would def still order again. I had to try the gluten free Mac and cheese on the side. It was all that and then some - I'm not even gluten free but it was so delicious you could have fooled me! My mom got the chopped veggie salad with the gluten free dressing and she too was pleased. The service was pleasant (I got a free cookie bc my salad came out after my mom's but only by like 5 min so it was a very nice gesture but not expected!) I also tried the seasonal triple berry sangria and if I were to close my eyes, it almost made me feel like I was back in Spain. I love the open air option on the outdoor deck. First off, it was sooo cute inside! Great vibes all around. The service was super helpful and pleasant as well. I ordered the enchiladas and WOW! They were delicious. I was not expecting them to be THAT good. 10/10 would get again. We also ordered the queso and the avocado hummus for the table and we loved both of them. The queso was pretty spicy, but not too terrible. The avocado hummus had the flavor of guacamole but the consistency of hummus. I was obsessed. I have gone to flower child in different states and was stoked to see them make their way to the 402! Healthy, delicious, whole food options are exactly the types of restaurants we desperately NEED in the midwest. FOOD : I got the chicken entree with a side of olive oil, roasted vegetables and sweet potato fries with their house made dill ranch -- i loved my plate. I will say, they go heavy on the olive oil but i'll take it over rancid seed oils any day. The food tasted delicious and the chicken was tender and fresh, not chewy or fake seeming. The dill ranch was SOO dang good, and also so fresh. The sweet potato fries weren't anything too special but for how quick they got it out to us and how quality it all tasted, i'm very impressed! I love the flavors and seasonings they use and how they enrich every dish. SERVICE : The line was out the door, but they moved it quick. I maybe stood in line for 10-12 minutes tops and it was looong, so that was impressive to me! If you aren't trying to wait in line get there between 1 Pm & 3 P. Everyone who worked there was so kind and quick, and we actually were able to get a seat which I was surprised about. Service was exceptional and made it feel very welcoming. Overall I had a great experience and will absolutely be going back -- it's places like this that truly need the support of the community and hopefully will change the way us midwesterners eat. I actually visited twice within a few days, so here's a quick review of both experiences. First Visit (Dine-In) Since they're still buzzing with new business, our food took a little while, but it was worth the wait. I ordered the chicken enchiladas, sangria, and a brownie. The enchilada sauce was fantastic with a great kick, and the sangria was refreshing and paired perfectly with the meal. My friend had the shrimp, carrots, and "smashed potatoes." We were both surprised they were actually mashed potatoes, but it ended up being a great surprise! The feta on the carrots was also delicious. The brownie was good, but I probably wouldn't order it again. Second Visit (Curbside) A few days later, I tried curbside pickup. The process could use some improvement. You have to call when you arrive, and it was so loud inside that it was hard for the employee to hear me. I was also told my order would be another 10 minutes even though I was only a couple minutes past my pickup time. An app check-in and more accurate pickup estimates would make a big difference. I ordered the chicken, smashed potatoes, and sweet potato fries. I forgot to request silverware (my fault), so if you saw me eating mashed potatoes with chicken and fries in the Whole Foods parking lot... no, you didn't. The sweet potato fries with ranch are a must-order, and the smashed potatoes were creamy and garlicky. The chicken wasn't dry, but it could've been a little more flavorful and the portion was on the smaller side. Overall, I definitely preferred the dine-in experience (plus, sangria!), but I've really enjoyed Flower Child's diverse menu and will definitely be back. read more

Wow what an incredible new addition to the Omaha area! My family and I went to check out this restaurant for the first time and were blown away. As a gluten free person who likes to have a healthier option, this had so many choices for me! The restaurant was busy, but there was a lady going through the line and assigning us a table, which made it so seamless for us. The overall line to order went quick and everyone was very nice. There was seating inside and outside to choose from. The overall restaurant was so cute and felt like it would be perfect for any occasion. The food was excellent! My favorite was the gluten free Mac and cheese, YUMM. The roasted veggies were a little on the harder side, but still super tasty. The salmon was cooked to perfection. For drinks there is no soda, but I did love they had a variety of different drinks to choose from (lemonade, tea, poppi, etc.). I also really appreciated all the different gluten free desserts they had available. It didn't feel limiting at all for someone who has to eat gluten free. Flower Child is a great addition to the Recency lineup. I can tell this will be a hot spot for lunch around this area. It's kind of like Meddy's where you order and then sit. I did like that someone finds you a table and gives you a number. The food is high quality. The braised beef was super tender and very flavorful. The avocado turkey wrap was a little more bland. I showed up during lunch time on a weekday and immediately felt very grateful that I had ordered ahead for pickup. The line was out the door and it didn't seem to be moving super rapidly (although again, I was just doing a quick pickup so between being in my car and locating my order and returning to my car was probably only 5 minutes, so I didn't see the line for much longer than that.) The restaurant itself is very cute and charming. It's one big open cafe seating area, but then they do also have a really cute enclosed patio as well if the weather is cooperating. The pick up shelves at quick right turn from the door where you enter. I actually didn't see them at first, but now that I know where to find them it's quite an easy pickup process. I tried the rose lemonade and really enjoyed that. For my meal, I opted for a salmon entree with two sides: heirloom carrots and roasted sweet potatoes with some sort of chili glaze. It was all VERY good. The salmon was flaky and tender, well seasoned without competing with the other flavors. The heirloom carrots delicious and an appropriate portion (worried the veggies would be skimped on). And the sweet potatoes will have me coming back a few more times!! read more

This was my first time ever trying Flower Child and I can see what the hype is all about! For starters, if it is normally this busy at lunchtime, plan ahead! I chose to do takeout ahead of time because it stated a 40 minute wait on their app. Their app is super easy to use and made the process very simple. When I arrived, they have designated parking for take out orders up front. Staff greeted me quickly and made sure I had the correct order. Now for the food: Super fresh and delicious! I had their chicken plate with Mac and cheese and a side of sweet potato fries. You have so many side options, it was hard to choose! The chicken is a simple grilled chicken breast, but it was quite flavorful and not dry at all. It paired really well with the Mac and cheese. My only recommendation would be to get some seasoning for the sweet potato fries. While they did come with a side sauce, by themselves they are a little too plain for my liking. I finished with a dessert for me and one Togo. The strawberry muffin was very fresh and delicious! Based on this visit, I will definitely be back and encourage everyone to give Flower Child a try! read more

I have a new favorite restaurant. Everything about our visit was perfect. First the line was out the door but moved fast and food comes out quickly. A staff member was moving down the recline assigning numbers to parties and then getting tables for them! So no worries about having food but no place to eat. The food was phenomenal. They have such a large variety of sides you could never get bored! Chicken was tender and nicely sliced, kale salad perfectly dressed with lemon and zucchini zoodles, and lastly the red chili glazed sweet potato had just the right amount of heat. Very rude demeanor in a way hard to describe but as if he knows it all and doesn't have time or patience for paying customers. Why are you treating a paying customer like you don't like them or like you are mad you have them? He made me feel stupid or like I bothered him for having questions about the menu which has A LOT of good looking choices.... He made faces when I asked questions that I couldn't understand but felt put down by. Very subtle but it rubbed me so wrong. Again.... Now I'm back to write this a second time. I felt bad for stating in my last post how he talked to his coworkers and I overheard. I think my second time in. I didn't want to cost him his job if he was just having one of those days. Now I see this is a pattern and it makes me want to avoid the restaurant!!! I didn't even take my time to order what I really wanted because it felt like for him the transaction could not be over soon enough. Why?! I don't know. He has a sinisterism about him that he hides under a very evidently fake smile and uncomfortably forced customer service from a customer P.O.V. It feels everything but genuine. Am I the only one bothered by him? No way. Cant be. Pay closer attention to him and you will not be able to unsee it. It will be a while before I come back. The other two times I have been in but did not encounter him were positive and enjoyable. Very positive. Very different feeling. Like he is trying uncomfortably...unnaturally hard... to hide flawed character. Not a nice person to interact with. I will say I noticed no one else in the restaurant seems to respond to customers like this in fact everyone else seems normal.... genuine... and interacts in a way that comes off like they really like the job they have. Not this kid. Lunch feels so much better when he was not there. What is that about? I deal with enough of this in the corporate world. I see it plain as day and a rotten egg is easy to spot. I'll be happy to come back when he is gone. This was on Tuesday for lunch. I would try curbside pick up but I don't want to chance him anywhere near me OR MY FOOD. Everyone else NO PROBLEM. Went for carryout and I ordered the ginger miso salad and added chicken and for $17 I was very disappointed. Nothing special. Dressing had no taste. Much smaller portion comparing it to Asian Chicken salad at Cheesecake Factory. My husband got the Pruvian Braised beef and hated it. The meat was not as described. Very chuncky and tough. For $17.25 not at all worth it. Then to top things off I came to try this restaurant a few weeks ago and they had shut down their online ordering and promotion, so I picked up a paper menu and left.
