They somehow manage to make it exotic with the tropical guava flavor which is not overwhelming and tastes delicious. Chocolate mousse cake is extra chocolaty and extra awesome! Additionally their cakes are very visually pleasing and make for the perfect birthday cakes! Ambience wise, it's a cute little bakery with trendy modern interiors. An awesome friend got me birthday cakes from here, and I was so excited to dig into this! But oh boy I did not know what I was in for. The Bavarian burnt almond was completely tainted with chemicals. From other reviews, it sounds like we weren't the only ones! It wasn't rancid or bad - it was as if I was licking a sharpie or someone accidentally dropped 409 into the frosting. Even the inside of the cake smelled of it so I knew it was in the mixture. Unfortunately it was next to other cakes, so the entire box had a faint chemical taste. Getting a job right above this place is the best worst thing to ever happen to me. It's a daily struggle not to treat myself to one of their delicious treats. The morning bun is amazing any time of day. Their cheesecake is the best I ever had. I'm so thankful for my sister and this bakery. Because of them, we've celebrated birthdays and last Thanksgiving with Flower Flour's Mango Tango cake. They've got a nice spot right in the center of the Pruneyard, so it's certainly well situated for a quick post-meal snack. We weren't looking for anything too heavy, so we didn't sample much beyond a singular cookie (which is hard to fully judge a bakery by), but we liked what we got. The place is cleanly decorated with a very bright aesthetic with a smattering of indoor seating, though mostly for small groups. The display case up front has your standard spread of baked goods, some birthday miscellany on the side, and bigger cakes in the back. Slight expected premium, but not too amiss in the shop. We opted for one of their Chocolate Walnut cookies, which for the price is a pretty massively face-sized cookie. Definitely more cake-like in its rich consistency, and quite the ample amount of walnuts in each bite. IMHO It's been years since I've visited the original Flower Flour in Willow Glen (mainly because parking can be hard to find there) so I was very excited to hear about their new Pruneyard location! This new store is big, bright, and beautiful!!! We were warmly greeted when we entered and were immediately drawn to the large display case full of beautiful and delicious looking pastries!!! I left with a Morning Bun ($4.85), a blueberry scone ($4.85), one Chocolate Chip cookie ($3.85), and one raspberry crumble ($4.95). All items were huge, and tasty! My husband and I ventured into Flower Flour one Friday evening for coffee, as Peet's had already closed. The beautiful displays of cake certainly caught our eyes, so we enjoyed coffee with a slice of carrot cake. To our surprise, the coffee was better than the cake. This is not to say the cake wasn't good; it was good, but it didn't taste that fresh. The coffee was excellent, though. Service was pretty good. We appreciated how the door was left open. I usually don't comment or review a business, but I have to do it this time. I discovered FF 4+ years ago when researching for wedding cake for my daughter. Was immediately impressed when we tried the guava mousse cake at the willow glen location. Later, was glad to know they opened a second location at Campbell, but later learned that it had changed hands. The name Flower Flour and the Campbell location were sold to new owner. Even so, this is still my go to place for cakes. I like their moist airy cake and the guava mousse, the chocolate cake and almond cake are good too. BUT, two days ago, we bought a guava cake for my husband's birthday and we are so disappointed. When we removed that plastic protection around the cake, the guava mousse came right out with it. When we cut out a piece, the mousse and the two layers of cake got separated which had never happened before. My husband and I each had a piece, our first reaction is why the cake is so dry, it tasted like the cake has been sitting for a few days. So we decided to take it back to the store since it's a $65 cake!! My husband asked for a refund because we don't want to be disappointed again. The baker kept touching the cake and said it's OK, she should try it before saying it's OK. The owner of course didn't want to refund us and said it's not fair for them. What's not fair? You didn't deliver what you supposed to. Is it fair for the customer then? The cakes are not cheap! Prices had been raised 3-4 times since I discovered this bakery, but the quality has been going downhill. We got store credit for the returned cake, but not sure I'd go back. Service is OK most of the time. I remembered a couple of unpleasant times. Chatted with the baker once at a late Friday evening when she was working on decorating a wedding cake for the next day. Omg, so happy they opened a 2nd location at the Pruneyard in Campbell!!!! They have so many tasty treats! I LOVE their guava cake! You can order a slice or a whole 7" cake. I have ordered so many guava cakes here and it's always a hit among my family and friends. I'm now in charge of bringing a guava cake to every family gathering and parties. The guava cake is just perfect. You just have to get yourself a slice to try!! I have tried some of their other cake slices like mango and raspberry but guava is #1!! You can visibly see the freshly shredded carrots and the plump raisins. I believe they said there were pineapples and coconut shreds inside too, but couldn't really tell. At the end of the day, it's awesome. It's. bomb. The Lemon Bar I tried was pretty good too. They definitely don't skimp on that layer of lemon-y goodness. We were looking for a quick dessert to take come and decided to give this place a try. Staff was very nice. They have beautifully decorated cakes that are a piece of art. That's where things went down hill actually, the desserts looked beautiful but the taste was just ok. We tried the almond debutante and the classic chocolate. It's an average slide of cake for approx $10 each. The almond is a dense almond cake (dry) with creamy filling and a marzipan/fondant almond coating. We are huge almond cake fans but this was just too much, makes your tongue feel zingy like you licked almond extract. We ate it but was not excited, esp not for $10. We tried the chocolate cake next. Dry. Normal chocolate cake, very basically and unassuming but a good chocolate mousse filling. It was better than the almond milk, but again nothing to write home about. Unfortunately this was a birthday dessert and it was expensive and disappointing. Safeway had a tuxedo cake slice for $6 that is twice the size and taste is much better. Next time I'll just doctor up a box mix for $3 and pass out leftovers to the neighbors ‍. Total miss for us. If you want expensive previously frozen, dry cake, this is your place. we've been here twice in recent months, the pruneyard location, and both times it was horrible. First time we bought cheesecake that tasted old - the crust or the filling wasn't fresh. The second time we bought a GF treat and, again, it wasn't fresh. When my wife took it back to the manager (owner?) she looked at her like she had two heads and questioned why we'd be returning it. Yum! I ordered delivery while looking for a last minute cake (specifically tira misu). The process was easy, and the cake was surprisingly quite good! Cake flavor was just okay. Disappointed I didn't check the cake before opening it at a surprise baby shower for a coworker. When I placed the order there was only one space to indicate what to write in the cake. I asked for Congratulations Caroline! pink icing. Very cute shop, but the product needs work. Got a Bavarian burnt almond ($8). The cake texture and sweetness was reminiscent of Asian cakes, but something was missing. Moist sponginess? Flavor? The frosting was lackluster too. It seemed like they were going for a rich buttercream effect, but it just didn't seem smooth, rich, and creamy enough...? The overall effect was mediocre. Came here after eating for a little dessert. They had so many goodies to choose from but decided on the guava mousse cake. We stopped by Flower Flour on a busy Saturday. There were only two women who covered the whole store, and while they did their best, they were painfully understaffed and it negatively impacted the customer experience. It just took forever to be helped, and even to pay. That being said, the presentation was impeccable: they boxed everything we got and put a beautiful bow on it, and the desserts were each fantastic. We got carrot and chocolate cake slices, and a Mango mouse, and all three were great. If we are going to go again we'll try to come earlier so they aren't so busy, but get those women some help and improve your customer experience. read more

My wife and I stopped in to their Pruneyard location on a whim to treat ourselves to a pastry, which we shared with tea and coffee. Unfortunately, the chocolate slice on display looked much better than it tasted. The cake was overly dry and the chocolate icing had much more sugar than a typical French pastry. It definitely wasn't worth seven bucks a slice. The worst part of our experience was the service. When I told the barista that my coffee was lukewarm, her response was "It seems ok to me." Stopped by after a tough workout at the Row House. And picked up a almond croissant and a guava mousse cake, per the recommendation of some of the yelp reviewers. A little pricey - the small cake was 8 bucks. But it was delicious. Good for a sweet treat every once in awhile. I only had a bite of the croissant, as it's my husband's favorite. But it was good, not too sweet. It didn't have that golden brown croissant color that I expected but it wasn't bad. They have a multitude of different pastries here and a coffee bar. I'm a regular at the original location of Flower Flour in Willow Glen, so I was excited to find that a 2nd location opened up in Campbell. Flower Flour makes a great addition to The Pruneyard especially since Sugar Butter Flower moved. I teach at Yoga Six in the plaza next door, which is going to make Flower Flour a tough one to pass up! Flour Flour Campbell is so much bigger than the Willow Glen one, and the vibe is also very different. Because the place is bigger, more of the custom cakes with elaborate designs can be out on display. I know that the main cake designer does fantastic work, so I'm glad her work is showcased more visibly at this storefront. The bakery also has an elegant and upscale feel to it compared to the Willow Glen location, which is comfy, cozy and way more low key. Most importantly, the quality of the food is on par with the quality from the original location. Flower Flour Campbell carries all my favorites that I have grown to love. I picked up an almond croissant (the best almond croissant you'll find locally imho), chocolate cookies, Love After Dark and Ravishing Raspberry. The only major difference in terms of food is that this location only focuses on sweet pastries and desserts, whereas Willow Glen's location also serves savory food. Lastly, customer service was great. My server was friendly, efficient, and put some care into making my latte. read more
