Not a bad spot for a reasonably priced haircut with no frills. The shop is small and can get packed, but they were able to shoe horn 3 chairs and barbers in the space so the wait is fairly short. The haircut is standard, and what you would expect at the $18 price point. read more

I have been coming to get my hair cut by the crew at Floyd's Barber Shop for several years now and they NEVER disappoint me! I have very wild, very curly/ wavy hair that is hard to manage when it gets long so every now and then I need to get a haircut and that is why I went to Floyd's today. V was there ( who I guess is the manager now that the owners on vacation in Vietnam ) but she had another client and the other kid ( the young man, I don't know his name ) was already working on somebody else so Lena cut my hair today. I had never met Lena before and she said she was subbing for somebody else but OMG I wish she was there always. She did an EXCELLENT job cutting my, like all the others but she went above and beyond. She sheared, she cut, she whisked away, she used razors, she used clippers, hair vacuums, gave me a mini massage in that area ( NO, SERIOUSLY ;) I felt like I was ROYALTY getting my hair cut by her. I've been trying to find a good barber with a reasonable price for a while now. I've been spending $35+ on trims for the past two years, and I needed a more affordable place. My co-worker recommended Andy to me. He did not disappoint! The haircut was both quick and probably the closest to what I've wanted in a long time. Let me assure you, the reviews are not exaggerated and that Floyd's really is that good! I moved here a few months ago and hadn't found a good barber. When I lived in Colorado and Texas, I frequented a chain of Barber Shops called Floyd's, which the Bay Area sadly doesn't have, but when looking on Yelp, I found Floyd's and originally thought it was the hip chain that seems to be everywhere but here. Boy am I glad it isn't though. Don't get me wrong, I had some great barbers in the past, but Nancy and Thang do an amazing job, which is clear based on all the reviews and all the traffic they get. Be warned, though, this shop is only slightly bigger than a coat closet, and parking can be a challenge some days. I've had to drive around the building a couple times to find a spot I wouldn't get towed out of. I always get a haircut ($16) and beard trim ($8) for $24, which is very reasonable to me. Thang cut my hair and did an awesome job! Both Nancy and Thang just fly with their scissors! Used a straight razor on the back of my neck! They really know what they're doing! Fast and inexpensive. Everyone there was there because of the reviews on Yelp, which seem well-deserved. I almost took off a star because the shop is older, not much parking, and very little room to wait for your haircut. But as far as the haircuts, I got a great one, and everyone else looked good too when finished. Men's haircuts were $16, and Senior Men's cuts were only $13. Very good value... Most people feel a $4 tip for a total of $20 is a good deal for their service! I'll definitely go back! read more

Like most people, I'm extremely selective about who cuts my hair. For my fade and trim, i head to Floyd's run by Thang and Nancy. Both are perfectionists and pay close attention to detail. Haircuts are always completed with a T-finisher, shaving cream, and straight blade. Their cost of $13 for a cut is reasonable considering the awesome job they do every time. (Cash and checks only) The chairs and wall decorations are pretty outdated (one being a framed picture of John Wayne). The furniture and wall covering don't negatively affect the quality of my haircut, so i say John Wayne can hang out as long as he likes! C'mon. No one goes to a barber shop or hair salon for the artwork! During the busier hours, there can be 2 or 3 people ahead of you, which can be attributed to the quality of the haircuts. They have a subscription to around 15 magazines that'll easily keep you occupied during your wait. I once asked to borrow a magazine for a few articles i still wanted to read. They simply let me keep it. Overall great people, even better haircuts. read more

In short, I got exactly the haircut I wanted just by showing them one picture and the staff could not have been more welcoming. For those wanting more detail: I walked in, everyone said hello and I waited for 5 minutes as the person before me finished. Just before sitting I found out they were cash only. However, they told me I could get cash AFTER getting my hair cut which was very nice of them. I showed them a picture of myself with shorter hair and that was all the info they needed to give me the right scissor cut. They were communicative Not only that but somebody accidentally paid with a $50 instead of a $20 and I watched one of the employees literally sprint out the door to let the person know. It's a very old school feeling barber shop and I couldn't recommend it higher if you need a nice, clean cut. read more

I found Floyd's on Yelp several years ago when we first moved here from Washington state. At the time, I was sporting a short, almost flat-top haircut and I couldn't fathom paying $45 - $55 for a men's haircut that the salons charge around here. I hadn't been to a barber shop in 20 years, but I rolled the dice......and I was so glad I did. The couple that own the shop are nice people and great at their craft. For some reason, I decided to grow my hair out last year and instead of asking, I just (wrongly) assumed that they wouldn't be able to do it. So, I searched Yelp and found one of those salons with a concept that catered to men. I paid $50 (with tip) for a hot stone neck massage, a scalp massage and a hot wash cloth facial at the end. Oh, and also got a crappy haircut. But, being the slow learner with the steep curve, I kept going back each month and complaining when I got home. Finally, I decided to put my tail between my legs and head back to Floyd's. After not being there for more than 8 months, Nancy and Trang sincerely pleased to see me back. They thought I had moved back to Washington without saying goodbye. What a great feeling to be remembered and missed. It won't happen again, they have my loyalty. $16 for a no-frills cut and neck shave. It is walk-in only, so there can be a wait - especially on Tuesdays as they are closed on Sunday and Monday. Inexpensive and good. I had been going going a different place several years even after my favorite barber left. After reading Yelp reviews, I gave Floyd's a try. I'm satisfied. Just got my hair cut from Nancy. I was comforted by her skilled use of scissors. Her use of scissors is one of the most extensive among all barbers I had. This is normally where I get my haircut. Nancy and Thang are pretty friendly and do a good job. I'm normally very picky about haircuts because I have gone to so many hair cutting places and always end up finding errant strands of hair that are longer than the rest of my head after taking a shower. Good job, it's a pretty affordable haircut around $15, which is about on par with other hair cutting places unless you goto eastside San Jose. They spend a good amount of time making sure that your hair cut looks good and they also provide you with a straight razor shave of the back neckline area which is pretty cool. They have a ton of magazines to read if you have to wait. The only complaint I have is that the place is small so if there's more than 4 people waiting it can get cramped. But not a major complaint because I'm more concerned with the haircut then the waiting area. Parking area is kind of small but there's a nearby side street that you can park at if you don't mind walking. read more

Both Nancy and Thang are great at what they do, quality cut at not much cost ($20 with tip - men's haircut). The wait can be long (~50 mins for me & I got there 15 min after they opened). My fiancé and I were researching barbershops in the area because he needed a new haircut. However he didn't want to spend $50 or more on a men's haircut so we were trying to find something in the middle price range. When we walked into Floyd's there was a lady and a guy stylist. The place was empty when we got there but as soon as my fiancé sat down, six other people came in right after one after the next. We showed him a picture of what we wanted and it was basically a blend and a trim on the top. The gentleman that cut his hair was very skilled and he used both a razor and Hannah scissors to cut. At the end, he even used a vacuum to suck up all the loose hairs. We were very pleased with the results and are definitely coming back here again! P.S. It was only $16 for the haircut and then we gave him a six dollar tip so we walked out of there only spending $22 total! read more

I've been coming to Brian for a while now and have never been dissapointed. Always gets my fade and line up right. Even after getting my beard trim its a very reasonable price. I bring my toddler with me once in a while since daddy duties fall on haircut days sometimes and everyone is always super nice. They give her candy, talk to her and keep her entertained which is huge when your trying to get something done since a toddlers attention span is 5 seconds long and then wants to run around. It helps that he just started opening on Sundays for a few hours (10am-3pm) since I needed a cut before I went on a family vacation and didnt have time to make it during regular hours.
