1 catfish w/ fries and Cole Slaw; half pound snow crab legs
CeCee S.

This is an oldie but goodie neighborhood staple. Last here over 10 years ago and it's exactly the same (in the best way). The decor and setup is wharf-style: you walk in, place your order, then wait for your buzzer to go off when your food is ready. The staff is down-to-earth and helpful. I ordered the fried catfish with fries with coleslaw. The catfish was undercooked and too soft for my liking, but the fries could rival McDonald's, crispy and addictive. The coleslaw was chunky, creamy, simple, and good. I also ordered a half-pound of snow crab on the side and it was so good. Fresh, meaty, and paired with a perfectly salty, delicious butter. Despite the hiccup with the catfish, the nostalgia alone made this visit worth it.

Thursday special, hot boiled shrimp.

Popular location with a casual atmosphere, great decorations, and hot Cajun food. Good flavor with friendly service. Would definitely recommend for quick and easy Cajun food.

I had breakfast at the Flying Fish with my family a few weeks ago when I was visiting Dallas. We picked it because the area was central for all of us meeting for breakfast but also because I wanted a breakfast that wasn't just your standard American eggs and bacon! That's not to say that you can't have a classic American breakfast at Flying Fish - you definitely can! - but I loved that their Cajun/Creole/seafood emphasis was incorporated into their breakfast menu as well! They have omelettes, but one of them comes with gumbo, another with andouille sausage! They have grits and gumbo, chilaquiles, and migas! So it's classic American + Cajun/Creole + a little Tex-Mex, too. Something for everyone. I had the migas; my husband had the grits and gumbo; and the rest of my family tried other dishes. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered! I also really enjoyed the decor and the service. You feel like you could be a in fish fry shack in East Texas for sure. It's charming and fun and casual, and the food is good. I'd happily return for another meal!

COOL place to eat FISH! Ceiling & walls R covered with fish, that it makes me want to go fishing & bring my fish & stick it on the wall!

A buddy of mine recommended them for catfish. I decided to check them out and loved it. The whole catfish was top notch.

Fried shrimp is yumalicious and a bargain at $13

It's been a while since I've visited this original Flying Fish location. As I walked in I was reminded about how excited I was to find this place almost 20 years ago. The eclectic decor and authentic Gulf Coast fish shack vibe "Hooked "me. Shannon Wynne definitely knows how to do restaurants and Flying Fish is a great example. Cutting no corners on food ingredients or preparation, he "feeds" the public like he wants to be fed. Attention to detail in every inch of the place from the door to, the helpful counter staff, to the always delicious meal. Today's fried catfish and gulf shrimp were no exception. If you haven't been its definitely time to... Go!

Not bad at all! Nice filling comfort food that hit the spot. The Gumbo was decent, the blackened salmon nice and tender, the fried catfish, fries, and hushpuppies were delicious! Very reasonable prices and a very comfy casual setting

One dozen raw, Gulf oysters as part of the protein platter.

The food, service, and ambience were all fantastic. The services provided by the professional management and staff are the main reasons that we keep coming back. The old world elegance is a rare thing, and we value their focus to make sure that everything about the dining experience is excellent. I highly recomend this restaurant.

3 shrimp and very small fish filet basket

Go to Big Shucks. Better portions. No old fishy smell. Fresh cut fries not from a bag. They sell you a 14$ basket and it's mostly frozen bagged fries. They're not even fresh fries. Their taco plate has more food for the same price. One of the 3 fish tacos had more fish than the box did. So for the same price you get 3x the protein and no stale frozen fries. Great for my grandpa's meal but left me hungry. I threw the fries away because they were just hard and not very good. It's better to buy frozen fries at the store and make them yourself so you don't get something that's been sitting out and overcooked with soggy grease. Their customer service is awful. I live 20 minutes away and their solution is I can spend 40 minutes there and back for a refund. Really? So I spend 40+ on food from them and half my order is two cups of frozen french fries that are limp and luke warm with lots of grease. The place smelled like old fish when you walk by before you even walk in.

Shrimp Jambalaya with bread

This place is amazing. Upon entering you can tell that this restaurant is beloved by its community and has been a staple here for a while. It's very well decorated and it was packed when I entered for lunches this restaurant specializes in Cajun food from Po boys, to fried baskets, to plates. I tried their shrimp jambalaya with bread and I really enjoyed it. The shrimp were over cooked, but the flavors made up for it. The staff is friendly and efficient and a great option for a quick lunch. The pricing is about $15 for most options and for the area it's not bad. I would definitely come back on a different day to try other dishes. If you bring a Billy Bass, you get a free fried basket and they have a rewards card as well. So fun!

Worst oysters on the half shell I've ever had. They had no flavor and tasted like they were previously frozen (is that a thing?).

They utilize team approach where someone else brought the drinks and food runners brought the food. Manager checked on us to make sure everything was good. Our water glasses were never empty. I ordered a Bloody Mary that they returned with a shrimp and celery stick. Nice touch. I specifically went here to try their soft shell crab and it did not disappoint. Others in the party had lobster rolls and the fried shrimp basket. I forgot to mention that we had the appetizers , crab hush puppies and fried oysters and both were excellent. We also tried the bread pudding and key lime pie for dessert that we really liked. Overall we would definitely return.

The mocktail was delicious. Our crab fingers appetizers were in a tasty sauce. The salad could've used more flavor to it and fresher lettuce, but i appreciated the amount of Parmesan cheese on top. I personally thought the presentation of the salmon was too much and a bit odd. I wish there was more sauce (or at least a side of sauce). The risotto was too bland, but the brussel sprouts were tasty and lemony. The salmon had a great crust, but it was too undercooked for me and wasn't the best salmon I've had. The filet mignon was ordered medium rare, but too us it seemed a lot more rare and wasn't seasoned well. The mashed potatoes were delicious. Our server was kind and helpful.

This had a lot more flavor than what we expected and the homemade chips made it the perfect appetizer. 10/10 Rainbow Sushi Roll - this was also great. The roll tasted fresh, but it is on the spicer side so don't order unless you can handle some heat. 9/10 ***Entrees:*** I got the Beverly salad and subbed my shrimp for seared ahi. According to our waitress, she said the receipt would reflect the Seared Tuna salad since there is an upcharge for the substitution but the food came out just like I ordered. My salad was fresh, bright and didn't leave me feeling heavy. 10/10 My cousin ordered the Maple Salmon. I believe the waitress said they now use gochujang sauce instead of maple. My cousin really enjoyed her meal and said she would definitely order it again. 10/10 The bachelorette ordered the steak frites, she ordered it to be cooked medium but it came out a bit more rare than she preferred. She still ate it as is and said it was tender and flavorful. 9/10 Lastly we ordered the lobster mac, this was sooooo good! The mac was runnier than I would like but the taste made up for it. I would order it again. 9.5/10

We had an absolutely outstanding dinner at Truluck's last night. From the first sip of the Single Barrel Old Fashioneds to the last bite of dessert, every part of the evening exceeded expectations. We started with the Salt & Pepper Calamari, and after my first bite I literally said, "Oh my God." It may have been the best calamari I've ever had. The combination of blistered shishito peppers, red Fresno peppers, basil, sweet chili glaze, and dynamite aioli created an incredible balance of flavors with just the right amount of heat and crunch. An absolute culinary orgasm. For my entrée, I had the Redfish Pontchartrain with shrimp, crawfish, piquant Creole sauce, and rice pilaf. The fish was perfectly cooked; tender, flaky, and complemented by a sauce that delivered just the right amount of spice without overpowering the dish. My girlfriend ordered the Scallop & Shrimp Sauté over Florentine cauliflower rice with lemon vinaigrette. The scallops and shrimp were cooked flawlessly, tender and buttery, and she couldn't stop talking about how delicious it was. We finished by sharing the carrot cake. Between the rich cream cheese icing, spicy pecans, and warm butterscotch sauce poured over the top, it was decadent without being overly sweet. Smooth, crunchy, rich, and absolutely unforgettable. Our server, Paloma, was exceptionally warm, personable, and incredibly attentive without ever being intrusive. She anticipated what we needed before we had to ask, making an already wonderful meal even more enjoyable. The bar is beautifully designed, our booth offered a fantastic view of the city, and the overall atmosphere struck the perfect balance between elegant and comfortable.
