    I'm from Louisiana- so I'm very picky about my crawfish but the crawfish here are super juicy, and aren't covered in seasoning (it's cooked properly in the water). The flavor is really good and it comes with 2 potatoes and corn. They are $8.95 a lb (as of March 2026) which is cheaper than most places around. Even in Shreveport they are $9.99. While eating there- I had several people ask me if they were good and I told them yes and they all proceeded to order them too- if only I got commission on selling people their crawfish lolol overall great!!

    I had breakfast at the Flying Fish with my family a few weeks ago when I was visiting Dallas. We picked it because the area was central for all of us meeting for breakfast but also because I wanted a breakfast that wasn't just your standard American eggs and bacon! That's not to say that you can't have a classic American breakfast at Flying Fish - you definitely can! - but I loved that their Cajun/Creole/seafood emphasis was incorporated into their breakfast menu as well! They have omelettes, but one of them comes with gumbo, another with andouille sausage! They have grits and gumbo, chilaquiles, and migas! So it's classic American + Cajun/Creole + a little Tex-Mex, too. Something for everyone. I had the migas; my husband had the grits and gumbo; and the rest of my family tried other dishes. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered! I also really enjoyed the decor and the service. You feel like you could be a in fish fry shack in East Texas for sure. It's charming and fun and casual, and the food is good. I'd happily return for another meal!

    It's been a while since I've visited this original Flying Fish location. As I walked in I was reminded about how excited I was to find this place almost 20 years ago. The eclectic decor and authentic Gulf Coast fish shack vibe "Hooked "me. Shannon Wynne definitely knows how to do restaurants and Flying Fish is a great example. Cutting no corners on food ingredients or preparation, he "feeds" the public like he wants to be fed. Attention to detail in every inch of the place from the door to, the helpful counter staff, to the always delicious meal. Today's fried catfish and gulf shrimp were no exception. If you haven't been its definitely time to... Go!

    The food, service, and ambience were all fantastic. The services provided by the professional management and staff are the main reasons that we keep coming back. The old world elegance is a rare thing, and we value their focus to make sure that everything about the dining experience is excellent. I highly recomend this restaurant.

    Go to Big Shucks. Better portions. No old fishy smell. Fresh cut fries not from a bag. They sell you a 14$ basket and it's mostly frozen bagged fries. They're not even fresh fries. Their taco plate has more food for the same price. One of the 3 fish tacos had more fish than the box did. So for the same price you get 3x the protein and no stale frozen fries. Great for my grandpa's meal but left me hungry. I threw the fries away because they were just hard and not very good. It's better to buy frozen fries at the store and make them yourself so you don't get something that's been sitting out and overcooked with soggy grease. Their customer service is awful. I live 20 minutes away and their solution is I can spend 40 minutes there and back for a refund. Really? So I spend 40+ on food from them and half my order is two cups of frozen french fries that are limp and luke warm with lots of grease. The place smelled like old fish when you walk by before you even walk in.

    This place is amazing. Upon entering you can tell that this restaurant is beloved by its community and has been a staple here for a while. It's very well decorated and it was packed when I entered for lunches this restaurant specializes in Cajun food from Po boys, to fried baskets, to plates. I tried their shrimp jambalaya with bread and I really enjoyed it. The shrimp were over cooked, but the flavors made up for it. The staff is friendly and efficient and a great option for a quick lunch. The pricing is about $15 for most options and for the area it's not bad. I would definitely come back on a different day to try other dishes. If you bring a Billy Bass, you get a free fried basket and they have a rewards card as well. So fun!

Like Restoration Hardware met someone emotionally stable. Elliott was our server and an absolute delight. Joseph was the manager, casually spreading joy like Oprah with a tray of Bloody Mary shots. Amber... now let me pause here, because this woman deserves a paragraph of her own. Amber isn't just a GM. She's the kind of soul you meet once and never forget. When I asked for her to come to our table just to pay her a compliment, we both practically teared up. She received it with open arms, no ego, no deflection, just pure, gracious presence. I was mid-sentence and suddenly I had that Creed song stuck in my head. You know the one. "With arms wide open..." That's the kind of energy she brought to the entire restaurant. Amber made every person in that room feel like they mattered. Not because it's her job, but because it's who she is. She's fresh off earning her master's in hospitality, and if that degree came with a crown, she's wearing it. The Porch doesn't just run smoothly. It runs on Amber energy. But let's talk about the moment I saw God. Cornbread Eggs Benedict: Not crab. Not salmon. Corn. Bread. And not just any cornbread. The softest, fluffiest, most cuttable cloud of golden glory I've ever had the pleasure of annihilating with a fork. A fork, not a steak knife. Do you understand how rare that is? Normally I'm out here sawing through an English muffin like I'm in a lumberjack competition. This? Melted like butter. Tasted like a hug. 12/10. Incredible. And then, as if the eggs benny enlightenment wasn't enough, Joseph reappears with a tray of free Bloody Mary shots for the entire restaurant. With olives. For everyone. The joy? Immediate. The energy? Electric. The crowd? Unified. I watched a grandmother at the next table raise her glass like the queen she is. I nearly cried. This wasn't service. To that one guy in the reviews who said that "the trough" will require at least 4 grown men, he was correct. I think this is a good amount for 4 men (without feeling absolutely disgusted from all this fatty deliciousness). The trough comes with 1 pound of brisket (5ish), 1 pound of beef ribs, 1 pound of pork ribs (5ish), 1/2 pound of pulled pork, 2 hand made sausage links, and 2 sides along with raw onions and pickles. The brisket is so good. Melt in your mouth. Make sure you get to try some of the leaner and fatty portions of it. The beef ribs are also perfect. It was Smokey, fatty, and fall off the bone just by touching it. I also very much enjoyed the sausages. In the front room only 3 tables were occupied. I pointed out the booth and she said that's for party of 6. However, we could have the 1/2 table/booth. Made absolutely no sense because that was for a party of 6 as well. I made this comment & she just stared at me without saying a word. I didn't want to seem difficult and took the table as she just walked away. Kev was confused as we were. No good communication skills. It was an awkward encounter. However i apologized to him & explained I wasn't trying to be difficult, but prefer booth sitting and most times we will wait for one. We left at 1:45p and restaurant was no busier than when we arrived. Reservation/Booth or not! I guess saying all of this, your front staff need to have more people skills when dealing with your customers. They are the face and first point of contact.
