I am so sad to see this place closed...it was replaced by a burger spot. Will they be opening a location elsewhere?

Surprised I have not done an update since my review three years ago. Every year my boss treats me and our team for my birthday lunch to a place of my choice. I always choose this place because its a little spendy for me. We made reservations this time for 1130. They ONLY service lunch on Fridays. Otherwise, it is dinner only here. Lunch has increased to $48.00 vs. the thirty something I used to remember. Our server Luiz was very nice and everything was great. The beef Pichana is my favorite. Very tender and flavorful. Sausage was the only lack luster item. They had fried bananas and cheese rolls that I don't remember them having before. Since I told him it was my birthday, I got a free dessert and chose the cheesecake. I asked for a container to take the leftover 3 cheese rolls that were still on the table and knew would be thrown away. He not only came back out with a container, but added 6 additional rolls for me to take home that I thought was a very nice touch. Our bill came to $500 after tip for the 7 of us so it was not a cheap meal by any means and we all stopped before we went into food coma so they made their money but its a family business and not one of those chains so that is A-okay. I was able to come here and celebrate my birthday, which was an incredible experience. The whole family had so much fun. We got that all you can eat meat. They had I would say on the smaller side buffet for the salads and she says, but what they did have was very delicious and of high-quality ingredients so I was very satisfied with the outcome. The servers were incredible on top of it. I always had a new selection of prime meat to choose from the whole family had so much fun that drinks were amazing. The atmosphere was incredible. I definitely want to come back here again. I had an amazing experience. Since it was my birthday, I did mention it to the staff, and they were able to do a complementary chocolate cake with happy birthday written on there in chocolate, which I just thought was really considering going above and beyond and really taking attention to the small details this is definitely a place that you would want to take the family too or to celebrate any special event. We've been to Fogo de Minas a few times now and have enjoyed lunch and dinner here as dates, as well as with friends and family. This is a smaller Brazilian Steakhouse, but they definitely hit the marks when it comes to delivering a full experience. They're located in a group of businesses off of Gateway Oaks Drive and El Camino. There is plenty of parking available and you can stop in with or without a reservation. They're open for dinner Sunday through Thursday and for lunch and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. On the days they offer lunch they have a quick reset before dinner where they close and get ready for the next service. They offer a hot food and salad bar as well as full rodizio options and non-alcoholic drinks as well as beer and wine options. When we come we order the full rodizio and I love ordering their passionfruit blended juice. They'll start you off with some cooked plantains and pao de queijo at the table and you can grab a plate at the salad bar. The salad bar has much more than salad though- there are veggies, olives, cheeses, pastas and more. I typically grab some tomatoes, olives and grab some chimichurri to dip my meat into before heading back for the main attraction- the meat. The staff is very friendly and they are very attentive when it comes to making sure you have the opportunity to enjoy all the meats offered. There's a good variety and if you let them know your preferred cook they'll make sure to have cuts that are to your taste. I prefer medium rare, while my husband prefers medium/medium well and they were really great at keeping that in mind. My favorite cuts are the beef rib, picanha, garlic steak and pineapple. I always start by saying yes to almost everything and then get more selective as I get full. The cuts are so flavorful right off the grill though, so pace yourself and enjoy them hot instead of letting them sit on your plate. The staff is happy to come back around with your favorites. They offer desserts and they are really good- but typically I'm so full by the time we're done that I don't want to even look at food until the next day. We were looking for a nice AYCE spot on a Friday night and we decided on Brazilian BBQ. I have been to several Brazilian spots and came to this spot a few times and had to give this spot some props after the last time. This place has plenty of parking and the inside is clean. There is a full bar and table seating. The place only had a few people at 7pm but got full as the night went on. The service was very friendly and seemed happy to be there so that was a plus. The salad bar was minimal but clean. There were only 4 hot items and most of the other items were cold items and go well with the meats. Most Brazilian BBQ spots have a bunch of meats and this spot had at least 10 different meats maybe 13 items total but we probably only liked 7 items. The meat items were tasty and the waiter did ask our preference so he could bring what we liked, how we liked it, which was a plus. My favorite cut is always the Picanha, the first round we got was perfect. My next favorite bite is the pineapple as this is the best sweet bite and I always get it a couple times. Overall, this was a high end experience, and the food and excellent service hit on multiple levels. We will definitely be back. read more

I'm a bit torn on writing this review. My heart wants to give them a 5 star rating but after tonight's experience, I have to lean more towards a 4.2 rating. Let me list all of the pros and cons from tonight's experience. Full disclosure, this is probably my 7th or 8th time dining here since 2022. Pros: Their meat selection is 5 star quality all the way. The Brazilian pork sausage tastes exactly how it's supposed to. Their rib eye steak is great! But most importantly, their picahna is perfect! If and when they bring it out with your preferred cook level - OMG every Churrascarria fan can stay loyal and dedicated to this place just because of the picahna. The salt profile is perfectly found all over the fat line, and its just so so good and perfect. My head was bobbing to the rhythmic flavors that were drumming all over my taste buds. Fogo de Minas; you guys are so good with the seasoning and the meat quality. Another strength is their grilled pineapple! So so good!! OMG. Take a slice of that pineapple and clip it onto your medium to medium rare picahna and you have lift off!! [Rocket ship emoji] happy face happy face *drool *drool emoji. Cons: Salad bar is a bit on the weaker selection side. Their feijoada needs improvement. And it took a very long time for the picahna to come out. Bring it out faster with a medium rare cook level for the carnivores who are very hungry and this place will be a solid 4.7. If they improve their feijoada and broaden the salad bar a bit, this place would be 5.0 stars all day!! Please have grace on the photo attached. Came here for an early valentines dinner and it did not disappoint. I love how small and intimate this Brazilian steakhouse was. I'm used to going to the bigger ones like Espetus and Fogo de Chao in SF but you occasionally get skipped at the bigger restaurants. I also liked that they asked us how we like our meat cooked and made sure to clarify how the meat was cooked every time it was offered to us. My favorite cuts were the ribeye, flank steak, lamb chop, and picanha. I'm on keto so this was the perfect place for me to eat without worrying. The bacon wrapped meats did have a tomato sauce on it so those were the only ones I stayed away from. My plate looks so messy with the chimichurri because they ran out of the little sauce cups at the time but the sauce cups wouldn't have been enough chimichurri for me anyways LOL but yes the chimichurri here was pretty good. read more

AWARENESS: My daughter asked we take her to a Brazilian Steak House for her birthday. Since San Jose is too far and based on the positive Yelp reviews, we decided to dine her at Fogo de Minas for lunch. NARRATIVE: Even though we made reservations, we really didn't need them. When the doors opened for lunch, our party of three were second in the door and seated right away. Our server was quick to take our drink orders and explain how things worked as far as the Buffett goes. He also explained the "red light, green light" cards on the table and how it worked. The only surprise I noted was Fogo de Minas only sells Beers, Wine and Champaigns. No hard stuff is available or offered at the restaurant. The Buffett - Not huge but plentiful. Lots of fresh greens and fruits, not so munch on the seafood side. The Food - Lots of perfectly cooked steaks, lamb, chicken and pork items. The best in taste goes to their fire roasted pineapple; I just couldn't get enough. Best of all. It keeps on coming as long as you're hungry. SCENE: Fogo de Minas is located in the rear, back corner of a strip-mall in the South end of Natomas. Not a huge place but they do a great job in lighting and making a great Brazilian atmosphere. There are several name brands for Brazilian Steak experiences. With that comes different experiences, different quality and quantity of foods and the setting and ambience of the restaurants. Unfortunately for my wife and myself we compare all of these to the one in Napa. This is more of a converted industrial lunch restaurant for workers, selection is limited. I prefer my meats to be prepared as rare or medium rare. It was "rare" that I was offered any meat that was not medium or more cooked. The wait staff is polite. The depth of options and the attention to offering multiple Choices constantly throughout the meal is not the case here. Although you might save a little eating here. I suggest you do your homework ahead of time perhaps be prepared to drive outside your local fare and be willing to pay a little More. It's worth it. read more

I've never had Brazilian Barbacoa before. Guys are very professional and very polite. I got the salad bar (veggies, cheese, pork, beans, rice) and my wife got all you can eat meat. Wonderful service and ambiance, and delicious food. Fogo de Minas is smaller than other Brazilian steakhouses I've gone to, which I liked because it didn't feel as crowded or overwhelming. All the employees were very kind and fast, and we had no problem making requests for specific cuts. Picanha, ribeye, and lamb chops were my favorite! Very tender, well-seasoned but not overly-salty, and they do a great job of giving you your preferred temperature. Their salad bar is self-serve and comes with a good assortment of sides. They have a nice variety of dessert and came out with a tray to showcase all their various desserts - we went with their lava cake with strawberry icecream, though I definitely want to try their flan next time! It was a birthday celebration, and the request was simple: Brazilian steak. The problem? It was Valentine's Day weekend, and nearly every restaurant was booked. Except this one. The catch? Outdoor seating. In winter. We showed up right at opening, and it was already packed--a good sign. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, and they got the outdoor heaters going right away. Still, we were nervous. At first, no meat was coming out, and we started second-guessing everything. Did they forget us? Was this a mistake? Just as regret began to creep in, the magic started. Really great date night spot. The meats have wonderful flavor, and make sure to try the grilled pineapple. The Brazilian cheese bread is delicious, and the mashed potatoes are quite good. Unlimited access to rice and beans to accompany your steak as well. Service. Also outstanding. Meats are served on spits sliced and provided at your table from polite and professional staff. Waitresses are attentive to your needs too. Ambiance. Clean with soft lighting. Choice of eating indoors or outside. Located in shopping center. Price. As of this writing, full dinner was $68 per person plus tax and tip. Dessert and beverage is extra. Dress is casual. We haven't been here for the rodizio service so this review isn't for that. We ordered a to-go plate with 2 meats, which includes salad, rice, and beans. The first thing we noticed was that they were using pinto beans rather than black beans, which I've never seen before, but not a big deal. The meat on the otherhand was a huge disappointment, especially for a place that wants to sell you AYCE. We ordered our meat plate with picanha and pork ribs, and asked that the picanha be cooked medium. What we got was really sad. Two really small rib bones with hardly any meat on them that was dry and overcooked, and 3 tiny slices of picanha that were beyond well done and had the fat cap completely trimmed off. In total, I would guess there was maybe 6oz of meat, including the bones in the ribs, which was pretty disappointing. The meat was universally dry, though it did seem to be reasonably well seasoned. If this is any indication of their overall quality of meat to expect at this place, I absolutely would never spend close to $70 per person for the rodizio service. read more

PROS: The staff is very kind and attentive. The place is always beautiful and intimate (although a bit dark). The seating area and restrooms are very clean. CONS: The food is no longer what it used to be. Whether it is the taste, the cut, or the seasoning.. it just hasn't lived up to what I used to love about this place. The last time I truly enjoyed eating here was before they rearranged the salad bar area. The most recent time we were here was a year ago (and we too did not enjoy that experience so we decided to give this place a break and hope that the next time would be better) and decided it was long enough of a wait. But unfortunately, today would be our last here. If you've made it this far in my review, please don't let this stray you away from this place. The dining experience was exceptional. We started our meal with yummy cheesy breads and fried banana. The meat was incredibly tender, perfectly seasoned, and offered in a delightful variety. All the meat, shrimp, and chicken hearts went well with the fried pineapple which was sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar (we think). Looked up gluten-free places on GF app and this place popped up in my neighborhood. Of course, I checked out the reviews on Yelp and decided to check it out for myself. This place just opened for lunch for the day at 1100 on a quiet Saturday morning, so my son and I were the first ones there. Emma, the hostess/waitress greeting us as we entered in and knowledgeably answered my questions for gluten free options. The restaurant is CLEAN and nicely decorated. They have spacious dining area (in and out door seating areas), salad bar with exquisite selection of meat and cheese, and a full bar area with large selection of red and white wines. Ambiance is chill and casual - nice spot for date night ! We ordered side cheese bread (gluten free!), two combo meat lunch combo (upgraded top sirloin/pork ribs) and chicken salad to go. Be sure to ask Emma for the upgraded top sirloin option, which is not on the menu. The chicken was surprisingly so moist, juicy and full of flavor! The service was really good. The waiters and waitresses are attentive and the "meat guys" kept bringing out the meat. The food though, was pretty bad. The selection at the hot food bar is abysmal and most of the meat brought out is tough and dry. The only decent cut of meat is the Sirloin. I would not recommend spending your hard earned money here. I was more impressed with this restaurant! Fogo de Minas was everything I expected from a Brazilian steakhouse! They have an array of meat options and a well stocked salad bar. Since it was lunch I opted for the mixed plate option that included two meat choices, beans, rice, potato salad and salad. My meal was delicious! My colleagues had the all you can eat option and was pleased. We all enjoyed the meat, pinto beans and the peach ginger lemonade! Debbie was our server and she was very friendly and welcoming. All time favorite Brazilian BBQ place. I have to come here at least once a month. Staff are friendly, accommodating and quick. My favorite is their garlic steak, picanha, lamb chop and grilled pineapple. I can also eat their cheese puffs for days. I recently went to Fogo de Minas to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family. It was a very unique experience. When we got there they seated us at a table and then explained that there were different meal options and for the one we chose we would fill our plates up at the open salad bar which included Turkey and gravy for Thanksgiving. Then we would sit back down at our table and flip over a coaster from red to green that would let the servers know we were ready to be served meats. Every five minutes or so a server would come to our table and ask us if we wanted whatever cut of meat they held on a giant metal skewer. If we said yes they would slice off a piece and we would help them get it off with a pair of tongs. As you could imagine my plate filled up with meat very quickly. My favorite was the garlic beef. It was so flavorful and melty. I also really enjoyed their drink with coconut. It tasted how I feel like a pina colada should taste if that makes sense. It was a bit expensive so I wouldn't go here regularly but for special occasions its perfect:) read more
