We purchased a Ford Escape from this dealership in 2022 and it's been a constant ongoing problem since. First, I purchased extended coverage which they overcharged by $1,700 compared to other dealerships and Ziegler. The finance advisor was mansplained and talked down to me, as though I was stupid. (If you are not a penis owner, don't go here.) I purchased the extended warranty from Ziegler and when I called to cancel, they told me they couldn't process the cancellation without a signature which I had to go in person to pickup (because they couldn't email it.) The service advisors were equally bad. They have high turnover. The most recent service advisor (an Asian gentleman), insisted that I would have to pay a diagnostic fee for an electrical issue despite having extended warranty. The electrical issue being that the instrument panel would go completely blank WHILE DRIVING! He also refused to give me a rental car despite having day 1 rental car coverage that I paid for. This doesn't even fully capture all the issues I've had with this dealership. I finally switched dealer and it's been a completely different experience. Made a deal with a young salesman over the phone and email, purchase of a new Ranger (cash). Had previously bought a new Ranger in 2021 without issue and back then a great experience. First, he told us we needed to download Ford Pass before driving off in the new truck which didn't accept my password or allow reset. Along with that he gave us a credit application to fill out (paying cash but said it was required) The print and boxes were so small you would need a powerful (NASA)magnifying glass to read them. After 30 minutes of stress over these requirements and no sign of the salesman we decided to leave without purchasing the truck. There is a first time for everything, and for me, it's my first time writing a negative review. I found a Ford Explorer on Folsom Lake Ford's website that seemed to check all of the boxes of what I was looking for. I called to confirm that the vehicle was still available, and made the 2 hour drive to see it. Upon arrival, my friend and I were warmly welcomed by the gentlemen outside and guided into the beautiful lobby. We waited a few minutes before our salesman, Gabriel "Gabe" Allarea, came to greet us, and he had the car ready to show. We didn't waste any time in going to take the Explorer out for a test drive. During the drive, I briefly explained my urgent need to find a car to Gabe and he seemed compassionate at first, which made me feel more confident in moving forward. By the end of the test drive, I was in love with the Explorer and was ready to sit down and talk numbers. That's when it all went downhill. Long story short, Gabe had briefly mentioned something about the RecovR anti-theft/tracking device and I asked him if there was any way to opt out of having that on the car, because I really didn't want it. He said no, and that it was already included in the list price. I assumed there would be room for negotiation on that part. When he brought a quote to the table, the device was listed separately and added almost $1000 to the total price. My friend and I both reminded him that he said the device was included in the list price. He denied saying that, and got very defensive and rude with us. He started losing his temper the further into negotiations we went. I wanted to walk away from the deal. But I couldn't, and he knew it. He capitalized on my situation and exploited it until I had nothing left. If my friend hadn't been there as a witness, I would have been questioning my own sanity and wondering if Gabe had actually said it was included. By definition, what Gabe did was a classic form of gaslighting, and that is a very abusive way of negotiating with a customer, or anyone for that matter. I would venture to say that he is not going to go very far in his career, if dishonesty and gaslighting are his default negotiating techniques. I was taken advantage of, simply because of the urgency of my situation. If it were any other time or circumstance, and if I had more time to shop around, I would have walked away the very second Gabe's demeanor changed and the attitude started. We left for about an hour to get dinner, and my friend encouraged me to go back to the drawing board and keep looking. Gabe didn't deserve to complete this sale. But like I said, I didn't have the luxury of time on my side. I hated that I had to go back to the sign for the car. There were other factors that contributed to this negative outcome, such as Gabe "throwing in" a full tank of gas and two key fobs, as if he was really going above and beyond and I should be grateful. I was so insulted. I could tell by the pep in Gabe's step after the deal was done, that he was very pleased with himself. I left the dealership feeling beaten down and cried on the way home. That is not how a deal should end up. In the end, we got the final price (before taxes and fees) down by $100, which is embarrassing, but I was exhausted and wanted to go home. Because of my experience, I have no choice but to leave a negative review, not only online, but also by word of mouth, as many people from my area shop in Folsom, Roseville, and Sacramento. Folsom Lake Ford seems to have a very good reputation. I was looking forward to a pleasant experience, and was sorely disappointed to have experienced the complete opposite. The Explorer is a great vehicle, and I know my family will enjoy it for a long time. I just really wish the whole experience would have been more positive. Another salesperson would have made all the difference. Edit to add: My follow up experience with the sales manager, "Kentucky," was unbelievably worse. But that's a whole other story. read more

Let's start with I love Ford vehicles. I have no issue with them whatsoever. I do have an issue with Folsom Lake Ford however. Specifically, their service department. For context, my wife and I have 2 Ford vehicles. 1 owned and 1 leased. We took our Ford Explorer in for service at the dealership. We purchased a MaxCare warranty through Carmax about 1 year ago and had several service lights appear as well as a faulty trunk latch prompting us to take it to Ford for repair. After speaking with our service representative he assured us all would be well and it would be repaired. We made them aware of the MaxCare warranty prior to any work being completed. We received a phone call the next day stating we needed a new transmission but it would be covered under the warranty. Do we approved the work to be completed. Fast forward a few days, the work was done and I went into the dealership to pay our deductible assuming it was the contracted rate of $250. We were hit with a $1700 bill and were told some items were not covered and that we needed to pay the difference. This was a red flag and I decided to call MaxCare. I spoke with them and they advised that half of the work completed was never sent into them for authorization and that is why it was not covered. Ford never sent an authorization over to complete the majority of the work. On top of that they charged over the cost that MaxCare covers despite MaCare stating they charge Ford rates for Ford parts/service. This Ford service department was trying to double dip on the repairs. I made a stink about this to the service rep and they took off a portion of our bill which I was thankful for. I still paid way over what I believe should have been charged and the fact that I had to call MaxCare to figure it out was mind blowing. Due to all of this, when I received a service satisfaction survey, I left poor marks and believe it to be deserved given the situation. I'm not one to bash a business for no reasons. A few days later I received a call from my technician who was irate about the survey and was asked to change it. This was red flag #2. Now, it's been 3 months later and guess what pops up. The same exact service lights that originally popped up. Red flag #3! Hoping to remedy the situation and rebuild some trust, I contacted the service rep again in hopes of getting this situation all sorted out. I was even willing to edit my original review. But, instead, I was met with "because of your previous survey, we won't service your vehicle and you need to take it elsewhere". Wow, I was shocked. Folsom Lake Ford has lost a customer. I'm sorry to say that they do not value who they work with and instead only value surveys and up-charging for work completed. Would not recommend this business. 2 stars for fact that I still value Ford as a brand and believe for the most part their vehicles are great. read more

2 stars for effort, even though it was forced after some work. For a battery swap and positive terminal, $860...that is a world record for insane and unbelievable. It took me asking and talking to multiple managers to drop this insane price. That's after a manager downplayed my concern, told me there was nothing wrong and me acknowledging that nothing was going to happen or change and walking away while thanking them for their "help". Then I was re-confronted while paying this insane price and was asked to look at the vehicle, and was told to they were "thinking" of a different vehicle on the lot. Lol..ok If auto zone and o'reilys didn't have the parts and if I didn't need my car asap, not to mention my family using our only other car, this would have been $160 with a free install. After confrontation, this was dropped to over $400. I do not recommend anyone to come to this dealership. I have trusted Ford since I started driving, and this is beyond frustrating and frankly unbelievable. Maybe it's time to change car manufacturers and start trusting someone else. I even advised, "if people knew that a new car battery would cost over $800, they wouldn't be coming here". The manager, I think name is Jim which I don't care to remember, replies, "well...we have plenty of people that come here". If you want to save hundreds of dollars, go elsewhere. I cannot believe that Ford would even allow this, as this is compared to other places this is immoral and unethical. I am shocked. read more

This was the worst service experience I have ever had. It took them 25 minutes to check me in. They told me it would be 1 hour 1.5 tops for the service. I was going to take the shuttle but it was late and had already been 50 minutes so I decided to wait. After 2 hours I decided to check in since they still hadn't called me. They told me it would be another hour and he assured me he would call immediately. So I waited another hour. No call. I went to the desk and the car was ready. Finally. But they never called.
