You can really tell that this is an Austin classic. Tucked away in the sidestreets of central Austin, this sandwich place has such a comforting cozy vibe that you just want to spend your whole day here enjoying the weather and the homey decor. This home retrofitted into a restaurant has such a charming setup, you can tell this is a classic spot for many. Now on to the food, I got the chicken eggplant sandwich and it was amazing. The meat and eggplant were well seasoned and all of the other accessories come together for an amazing bite.

This place is very Austin and Texas vibes. Super cute with limited indoor seating but lots of outdoor seating. We ordered at the front and you serve yourself water/teas. There was no line for us but once it hit 12 pm on a weekday it was so crowded. Food came out pretty fast! I got the Apple Pork Sandwich. It was delicious!!! Loved the pickles that you can add into it. I've never had apples in a sandwich before but the savory and sweet combo tied it in nicely. Pretty big sandwich/portion size for one person too. Usually not a sandwich person but FoodHeads is amazing!!

Amazing lunch spot in Austin! Has great outdoor seating as well as indoor. It does get busy so if you are crunched for time might skip out. The staff is always very friendly and the vibes are great! I ordered Chicken special, banh mi, and then a steak special All amazing and highly recommend!!

Fresh Sandwiches, Great Vibes, and a Hidden Austin Favorite Food Heads is tucked into what looks like a small house. When we showed up, it was pretty busy, but the line moved quickly and smoothly. There's more seating than you'd expect, and the atmosphere is relaxed without feeling cramped. We ordered the Squash Sandwich and the Chicken Special Sandwich, and both were seriously good. Everything tasted fresh, from the bread to the veggies to the fillings. It's clear they care about quality ingredients. One of my favorite parts? Their in-house pickles -- a little sweeter than your typical deli pickle, and a nice unexpected twist. And if you go, definitely grab their fresh limeade -- it's zesty, refreshing, and the perfect drink to pair with your meal. Food Heads is one of those places that gets sandwiches right. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

Highly recommend this delicious deli restaurant! It deceivingly looks like a house but a great variety of sandwiches that all taste great! The pork belly BLTA is very delicious and pretty big for $12.95. There are some seats inside but more outdoor tables available. There's street parking and a designated parking lot between King Street and 34th Street. Servers were great too, courteous, and I didn't have wait for my food to come out.

Love the atmosphere, in the house and outside. Pulled pork, Cobb salad, Pastrami, chimmichurri. All were great, bread is fresh, cheese corn on Cobb seasoned exceptionally well and was not dry. Friendly staff and smiling faces all around.

Such a cute location, they have tones of outdoor seating as well as tables inside. The team was nice and very quick. I waited for my to-go order for less than 10 min. I got the chicken special sandwich which was good. I thought there was a little too much mayo on it. The chicken was well cooked but I wish it was as big as the sandwich. I'll definitely be back to try more sandwiches!

Foodheads is one of my favorite sandwich shops in Austin, and is located in the cutest old house with tons of outdoor seating. Everything I've tried there has been delightful, but my favorite is their chicken special. The easy tiger sourdough is always perfectly toasted, and the tarragon mayo ties the whole sandwich together. I also love Foodheads' homemade tomato coconut soup, and the roast beef and brie sandwich. They also have the best iced teas and homemade lemonade. I tried Foodheads' wedding cake iced tea, and it was the perfect blend of almond and rose petals, without being too sweet. The only drawback to Foodheads is that it can be rather difficult to find a spot during the lunch rush, but I was lucky enough to grab street parking right in front. Overall, everything about this spot is unique and quintessentially Austin. If you haven't had a chance to support this small business yet, I highly recommend!

Such a neat spot for lunch! There's a good amount of seating inside and outside. It was quick and easy to order. The sandwiches were delicious and were a good size as well! I absolutely love their pickles that come with the sandwiches. It's the perfect amount of sweet and sour.

Great service *if you enjoy being treated like a second class citizen. 3 stars for the chicken ceasar sandwhich tho! But seriously, finally tried it after years of being told it was an Austin staple. Staff could not have been more miserable. Good location & lots of seating during a lunch rush was a plus.

    Outside

This was by far the best sandwhich I had in a long time. The chicken special was definitely special in my book and was the most tastiest thing that has landed on my taste buds. I absolutely love the atmosphere of this place and I will be coming back to eat more of the sandwiches. Such a wide variety of the menu as well!!

Highly recommend! The staff recommended me the squash sandwich, which was delicious. However I would not recommend taking it to go because it ended up a soggy mess, a delicious soggy mess but soggy nonetheless. The hot pastrami was also delicious and held up way better than the other sandwich. The restaurant was very cute and gave authentic austin vibes. The only downside is if you order in the weekend get ready for a 20-30 min wait for your food.

It's not always easy to find flavorful vegetarian tacos, so this place was a pleasant surprise. I loved it so much that I ended up visiting twice during my two-day trip to Austin. Sixth Street's neon and noise are basically next door, the Capitol sits up the hill, and the whole area is packed with people, bars, and that classic Austin mix of polished downtown hustle and late-night chaos. Velvet Taco is pure counter-service: you walk right up, order at the register, and then grab a seat. There's plenty of seating, so even with a couple of kids in tow it was no problem finding a spot. The place leans hard into what can only be called white-people tacos--soft, sad flour tortillas that taste like they came straight out of a grocery-store package, loaded with every wild creation the kitchen can invent. Global mashups, brunch hybrids, burger impostors, the works. No one is pretending these are the real deal. I went for the chicken-and-waffles taco, which was actually built on a thin, real waffle instead of a tortilla. Surprisingly good--crispy, a little sweet, chicken holding its own. The burger taco tasted exactly like a cheeseburger that had wandered into a tortilla and decided to stay. We also tried the shrimp taco (fine), one daughter got the kids' chicken taco (perfectly kid-level), and the other ordered the chicken tikka (spicy, saucy, and very much in the "why is this on a tortilla?" category). Everything was okay. Comparable to Torchy's in that same creative-American-taco lane. If you're looking for a true Mexican taco, stay far away. But if you just want to play around with some decent flavors on a cheap flour store-bought tortilla while sitting in the middle of downtown Austin, this is your spot. Not my favorite. Glad I tried it. Won't be back.

I had only stopped by this Food Truck (area) to try Desnudo Coffee, and spotted this business. I had heard some good things about Veracruz, but I was planning lunch elsewhere. Well, that other spot was CLOSED ON WEDNESDAYS! Seeing my situation, I saw it as opportunity to try the options at Veracruz --- including the famous from Food Network, migas taco. I ordered 4 tacos: the migas, migas poblano, shrimp macha (!!), and the Dona Reyna tacos. All of these specific tacos were priced between $6 and $6.75 per taco, not bad in Austin, and not bad considering the quality of said tacos. As you can see from my order, I opted on the more "novel" choices and they did not disappoint; that said, I do HIGHLY recommend the two variations of the migas taco and the shrimp macha taco. Oh, the shrimp macha was so FIRE, the flavors were bold and smoky with a kiss of heat. The migas tacos were FULLY LOADED, and the scramble with the tortilla chips were flavorul. TIP: They will ask corn or flour --- do flour. Everything is handmade, but those corn tortillas fall apart with all the sauce. Flour = durable and flavorful. I had plans, but the Universe had other plans for me that were superior. Try Veracruz All Natural --- and if your limited on $$$, you can snag 3 EXCEPTIONAL LOADED TACOS for about $20, that you will not find anywhere else!
