After supplying my contact information, I later received a call from Darryl who scheduled an appointment for me on a Saturday afternoon between 2:00 - 4:00 pm to see the vehicle. We were assigned a sales consultant who told us all about the dealership, their pricing policy, etc. He then went to get the vehicle so that we could look at it. He returned and said that the vehicle had been sold a week ago. We live 45 minutes from Fort Mill and were at the dealership for at least 15 minutes, so all in this place wasted almost 2 hours of our time on a Saturday afternoon. read more

He took me over and showed me a 2016 F150 and told me this would be the perfect truck. We took it for a test drive and I immediately knew that I would be doing my business with Mr. Kirby. He is very knowledgeable when it came to any question that I asked about the truck, but most importantly he was one of the nicest most friendly people I ever had the pleasure of doing business with. I eventually bought the truck and could not be happier with my purchase. Ron Kirby is definitely one of the best salesman that Fort Mill Ford has. Fort Mill Ford is part of the Sonic Automotive Group, which is trying to cleanup and streamline the car-buying process. But even more so, Fort Mill Ford's used car arm uses the Echo Park Model, a no-haggle, fair-price model that positions the dealership to compete with discount no-frills dealers such as CarMax and Carvana. I would recommend folks give them a try but do your homework. The dealership promotes that it seeks out only the prime used cars. Salesmen at other dealerships confirm this -- as do the cars on the lot at Fort Mill Ford. My wife and I test drove two of the three cars that we liked and settled on a 2019 Toyota Highlander with 16,000 miles for a price that was a few thousand dollars cheaper than we saw elsewhere. Their autos are listed cheaper than the Kelly Blue Book values for the same trim levels. My experience also debunked some myths I had read online, such as a reported inability to remove some of the extras -- 5-year interior and exterior protection packages ($495) and Identity/theft protection ($195.). Past sellers have reported issues getting those plans to work in their favor. I did in fact purchase an extended warranty for 10 years 100,000-plus miles at a negotiated fair rate. I appreciate one of the dealer's managers working with me to clear up the warranty language and documentation issues. The document heading of "Mechanical Failure Service Contract" might be dated. It might need to read the "Mechanical and Electronic Failure Service Contract." Even with the warranty, the price was cheaper than I could find elsewhere. Also, the salesman claimed to only do in-house financing and offered up a ridiculous rate despite my credit score close to 800. We got it down to an acceptable rate. And I put a chunk down to keep our payments reasonable. My minor issue was that the dealership failed to notice that the driver's side rear tire was low in pressure, causing the tire-pressure light to be on. It took the dealership folks five days to respond to this issue in an email sent a day after I took the car home. (Wow! They quickly forgot about us. I had BJ's tire add more air to the tire and it appears to be fine.) On a more positive note, the dealership, which sits in an area under heavy road constructions, did foot the bill for its service department to remove a bolt and repair a driver's side rear tire on my wife's 2004 4Runner that I used to visit the dealership. I didn't like the 90-minute wait for such a minor repair, but I get it.) Did I mention that our gentlemanly, knowledgeable, very likable salesman -- who arranged to meet me for a 1 p.m. appointment to pick up the car was a no-show -- supposedly in some last-minute training? (I'm sure the dealership has telephones and cell phones.) So, all in all, I highly recommend this dealership. They were courteous and professional, with smiling faces everywhere. Also, another salesman jumped in to help redo my paperwork after the absentee salesperson was missing until we were about to leave. You can get a great used vehicle at Fort Mill Ford -- Toyotas, Nissans, Hondas -- for a great price. But do your homework. read more

Went here back in 2012 and they would not stop asking me if I wanted to buy anything but I ended up buying a jeep from them but it stopped working a day and a half later. Even with a scheduled AM appt for standard service this place takes forever. It was over an hour past my scheduled time before my vehicle was put in the actual shop and 2.5 hours total. Another customer in the waiting room had been here for 2.5 hours for standard service and they too watched their car sit for an hour before it was put into a service bay. The last time I was here it was no better. You are better off going somewhere else if you value your time. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable about their product. Best of all, they have a pricing system that doesn't allow for negotiations. If I could rate them 0 stars, I would. Went here in the past and the salesman talked me out of purchasing a new truck. As we were looking over numbers he stated "if I were your parent I would not let you purchase a new car." Being in sales myself, I thought that was odd to talk a buying customer out of a purchase. Especially since I'm a financially stable adult who does not depend on my parents (if he would have actually listened to me, he would know that I even have a family of my own). When I started looking into purchasing a Mustang, I gave them another opportunity only because they had a 5.0 Mustang that I liked so I left work a little early and went back yesterday. I had to go inside to ask for help and it seemed like I was a burden. The salesman unlocked the car and walked off leaving me by myself. He did remote start the car from inside the dealership. Once I got out of the car to look around it, he instantly appeared and locked it up. I asked for a test drive and he stated "there are too many things to move around for that." So there was a similar vehicle on the lot so I asked if I could drive that one and his response was "nope, you'll have to do a credit check." I stated that I was interested in the car but had never driven one, but didn't want to pull my credit due to the fact if I drove it and didn't like it. But he still would not let me test drive the vehicle due to "recent theft" at the lot. I really felt as if I were being profiled because I'm young and looking at purchasing a sports car. I was not there to joy ride in the dealerships vehicle. If you do your research about Sonic Automotive you find their self-description of "we are an industry-leading automotive retailer committed to providing our customers with an outstanding automotive experience that is delivered with professionalism, integrity and enthusiasm." The sales process at this dealership is OK. They will love to sell you a car. I was actually a repeat customer and bought a second car. However, I then did the unforgivable I asked for help/assistance from service. They valued me as a repeat customer so much they would not return my phone calls for even routine service. They are not worthy my time reciting all the gory details, but there are many other dealerships in the area that I have found to be far superior. Frankly, I would focus on Hendrick dealerships vs Sonic. Both have problems, but their management will get involved and return calls. There is overall lack of customer focus that starts with service management. Easier to hide in your office and not get involved. It shows. "Big Dave" is mentioned in other reviews. I did find him to be helpful. He took care of my issues. I believe he helped overcome some of the problems with his management. He no longer works there. I dropped off my truck at 8:30 am for an 8:45 appointment. I asked for my truck to be ready at 1:00, because I was leaving town. I got a call around 2:30 that my vehicle would not be ready by 3:30 which was my absolute latest pickup time. I picked up my truck and drove straight to a Firestone Auto Service. I bought a used car less than 2 months ago. I took the car for a test drive and could tell there was a slight delay starting. I asked about the delay and he ensured me it was because the car must have been sitting for a week and it was getting colder outside so I didn't think too much of it. I discussed the price I was looking for and they said their prices are set by their corporate office so I walked away. A week went by and I noticed online that it had already dropped below the price I had asked for and I had never received a call which you would think any good car salesman/woman would do if they knew they had an interested buyer. I went back a few days later with a loan pre-approval interested in buying the car. They wanted to run a separate loan request because they work with a ton of banks and came back with an offer for over 8% interest rate which was much higher than what I was pre-approved for and still had the audacity to encourage me to go with their lender with over 8% interest. Are you kidding me? I was trading a vehicle in and asked what sort of inspection they did on used cars before selling them because they hardly did anything to give me an estimate for my trade in. They ensured me they did a very thorough 100 some point inspection before putting any used cars for sale on their lot. The car I purchased was a 2010 with less than 60k miles with no recalls or bad reviews of the make and model so I figured I could trust an established Ford dealership to have the integrity to not put a car on their lot with issues. A warranty was over $1200 for 1 year, so I forewent the warranty trusting this wasn't like buying from craigslist or questionable used car dealership. While signing the paperwork I noticed the amount for the loan was several hundred higher than I anticipated so I looked at the break down and asked what the $550 closing fee was for. "Oh well the ladies in the back put all this paper work together and run your loan approval and they need to get paid somehow." Meanwhile on the website under every single used car posting it states "Price includes $550.44 closing fee and excludes tax, tags, etc..." $550 for paperwork that probably takes them 10 minutes and they claim to be included in their price online but not when it comes time to sign the paperwork. Less than a week with the car the hard starting was getting noticeably worse and when I would shut the car off you could smell some fuel. Fast forward 5 weeks into owning the car, it was taking almost 4-5 seconds of cranking the engine over to start and a few times didn't start. I drove the car to PA over Christmas and parked in a house garage. After 10 minutes of being parked the fuel smell was almost unbearable inside the garage. I decided to take the car to the Audi dealer to be on the safe side. In less than 5 minutes of looking under the hood, they could see a puddle of gas on top of the engine block underneath the supercharger and informed me it was an obvious gas leak that would have been found in any sort of inspection. The entire engine had the shiny appearance that a solvent had been on it which they explained would be from the gas leaking and covering everything. They also told me I was very lucky that the engine hadn't already caught on fire. My car has been in PA for over a week in the shop waiting to have the fuel rail replaced costing me $1900 less than 2 months after owning the car and as stated earlier, clearly should have been detected when they did their inspection at Fort Mill Ford. If you are looking for a car dealership with any form of integrity that stands by their vehicles, prices, so called thorough inspections, and your safety, Fort Mill Ford is probably the last place you should look. Zero quality assurance. Disgraceful and I will be contacting my attorney based on their form stating an inspection was done and no catastrophic damage was known. The dealership fixing my car told me there is no way this sort of leak wouldn't have been obvious during an overall engine inspection before selling the vehicle read more

I scheduled an oil change via the web. When I showed up, I was informed there was a backup ahead of me. "Oh, and the web based scheduled service slots sit on top of our in person scheduled services so you will be delayed. Oh, and we don't actually have the x:45 time slots like you picked on line so that will create more delay. Oh, and if you leave the property you will be out behind others that are waiting, yes, even if it is for an hour of your anticipated 2-1/2 hour wait." I've never experienced so many responses from a business that say I Don't Really Want Your Business, and when I HAD AN APPOINTMENT !! Really? I said forget it. Sitting and waiting for over 2-1/2 hours for a scheduled oil change !?! I called Clinton Family Ford from the Fort Mill Ford parking lot and got worked in at the last minute. This is the second car we've purchased from Fort Mill Ford and a lot of it has to do with Billy Linville, who was our sales rep on both occassions. He treated us well the first time, and this is why we returned. We notified him this past January that we wanted to upgrade to a Premium GT. Billy kept an eye out for us for eight months! Thank goodness we were patient. The only disappointment with Ft. Mill Ford is the lack of good inventory. We had to pull a new vehicle from out of state. For eight months, Ft. Mill lacked Premium Package GTs. Only a couple floated through the inventory, but were racing style. Nothing as sharp as the one we ended up getting. Ft. Mill (or Sonic for that matter) carries tons of Ecoboosts or the low-end GTs, but never enough GTs with a premium set up. That was aggravating. If it wasn't for our loyalty in working with the same rep who always had our back, we would have went elsewhere. The reason we go back to B. Linville is because he is a realist and doesn't give us the fake sales pitches. We will probably go to him next spring to start looking for a used vehicle for our college-aged kid. If you are looking to deal with a rep who isn't a nag and treats the husband and wife with the same respect and no B.S., Billy is your man. read more

Can't think of a single reason why they deserve this one star. My wife and I drove from Monroe, NC to FMF after selecting the used vehicle we wanted online. The employee made us walk out in a lightning storm to view the vehicle after we asked did they have a shelter we could pull it under. After asking again in the storm he reluctantly drove it to a place we could look it over. We liked it enough to buy it. I said run the numbers for me. He came back with that same price we saw on the website +$149 for some theft protection which they obviously wanted on their cars for their own protection. I had the money in my pocket to by the car so I asked for $300 off the price. His response, "can't do that. The price is the price." I asked for free oil changes for the first year. His response, " we don't do that." I said "You're gonna let me walk out the door for $300.?" This is the worst service department I have ever visited. I took my 2013 Ford Edge because it had a power steering leak. They insisted it was the transmission cooler lines. After $800 I took the car home to only find it still leaked. My second trip they insisted it was the transmission axle seals, so after two weeks with out a car and with no rental I payed $100 for new axle seals. ( at least my useless maintenance contract finally covered something). Of course When I got the car home it still leaked! My third trip they decided it was the AC evaporator and the high pressure line on the power steering, after another $600 I though they finally fixed the problem. No,the car still leaks and I will never return this dealership They obviously keep changing parts hoping to get to the root problem. I'm not sure there mechanics ever got trained by Ford. We bought our Fusion used and have it serviced locally by a shop that is really good. We have used Ft. Mill Ford once before on a recall issue. This time it was a problem with the car that was not a recall but there was a service alert for the issue. I called and made an appointment and they took me in the next day. Brian was my service advisor and he took good care of us. Brian reviewed the probem we were having and then went out and looked at our car, recorded the mileage then told us that it was within the extended warranty period for the service alert. They ordered the required parts and had them shipped overnight and even covered the cost for our rental while the car was being repaired. It was a good experience considering that the car has 110k miles on it and the dealer took care of us even though it was not bought from them. Have always preferred Ford products and when it's time to buy a new one this will be our first stop. read more

I had a scheduled appointment for a professional detail cleaning I came in at my appointment time and was then told that they did no such cleaning for vehicles. After talking to management they still stated there was nothing they could do. So I have wasted my time and was lied to about the services that this dealership performs. I called Toyota of Rock Hill and they had no problems taking me in even though it was a Ford vehicle to complete the professional detail cleaning that I requested originally. Had an awful experience when I brought my car in for it's first oil change. I arrived to pick up the car to find that the car had been sitting out with the back window completely open. When I tried to put the window back up I found out that the window was broken & wouldn't budge. I went back inside to alert the gentleman who had checked me in and out. He claimed he didn't remember the car window being rolled down when he or the mechanic pulled the car to the pick up spot, so he said the window must have fallen down while it was sitting there parked. He didn't offer any further advice or help. The only thing he did was tape my window up. I've called the dealership to ask for further assistance and have had no luck in getting the problem resolved or the window fixed. This is the second time I've taken my F-250 to FMF for service. First, let me say, FMF service department is outstanding. From appointment, communication, speed of repair, and quality of repair. I truly thrust these guys to diagnose and perform the repair correctly. But be prepared is using online scheduling. Online, I provided all requested information (personal info and detailed vehicle info). Basically everything they needed to know about the vehicle. Once completed with this section you are provided a menu listing of all the normal maintenance choices along with pricing for each. When completed with my selections it provided a grand total for visit @ $438.00. While this was high, I know by going to the dealer I'm going to pay a much higher rate but accepted it after such a great experience during my last visit. When I arrived to drop my truck off, the service manager handed me a pre-service acknowledgment receipt to sign. I was floored when I noticed it was $200 more than I was provided on their internet scheduling (nothing changed). When I asked about the discrepancy, the service manager stated the website cannot tell the difference between a car and a truck. Obviously this was not true as the internet showed my oil change at $119. So obviously it could tell this was a diesel truck. Basically they up-charged me on the air and fuel filters $200 more than was quoted on the internet. In-closing, I trust these guys to do a great job! My suggestion is to call for all quotes and do not trust the online pricing. Dealerships are already expensive and it hurts even worse when you are told after you arrive that is going to be even more! read more

Treated as a nuisance at best, top that off with $124 charge just to see what was wrong on top of whatever charges the actual repair was going to cost. Thank you!, but not a chance. My husband and I went to Fort Mill Ford to trade in my car last Thursday, and purchase a newer used car. We had a car transferred from the South Blvd. location. Our salesman, Keith, was very knowledgeable and helpful. Unfortunately, the description of the car online said that the car had a few features (moonroof) that we realized the car did NOT have when we went for the test drive. Still, we were happy enough with the car to purchase it. When we sat to sign the papers, I was only handed one key. Our salesman said he would call the original location to find out if there was a second key. When I went back the next day to pick up the car, he told me that there was not a second key. When I asked him how I could get a second key, he called another man over, who explained that their dealership could not cut a second key because the car was originally from a sister dealership. Then he continued to explain that if they'd given me another key, that would put them in competition with the sister dealership. If these dealerships are sharing cars, then how can they be in competition with one another? Finally, he said in order to get a second key from them, I should have demanded that a second key be given to me before the sale was completed. I should have made it a "make it or break it" thing with the key. I felt like that statement was unprofessional. Even after all of that, the key they actually gave me has a battery that is dying. (I've had the car for less than a week.) If a customer is spending almost 20k on a car, the least the dealership can do is give the customer two keys. This is petty. Now, I have to spend several more hundred dollars to have a new key made. **updated** The general sales manager, Bob Jones, called me directly and helped me get a second key, free of charge. So, I bumped the rating up from two to four stars. He didn't have to go out of his way, but I'm glad he did! read more

Just bad... Took my car in there to get the check engine light diagnosed and fixed a while back. Also had some problems with the ignition I wanted them to review. After $750 and two days later they couldn't figure out what the ignition issue was so they advised me I needed to replace the primary computer. I though that was a little much so I ended up leaving and not letting them do any work. They advised that the check engine light was a $600 fix to replace a tube in the engine. I decided I would get a second opinion on that as well since they were guessing at the first issue. Took it to another Ford dealership across town who found the ignition issue in about 30 minutes and fixed it easily. Also, they advised me that the check engine diagnosis I received about replacing a tube was completely incorrect and they told me I should have taken it to a dealership to be diagnosed. I advised them Fort Mill Ford diagnosed it and they were shocked. Needless to say I got all my issues taken car of elsewhere for about half same price it took Fort Mill Ford to incorrectly diagnose over two days... Everyone was friendly though. Would give no stars if I could. Worst customer service in fort mill. Definitely see why they can't keep people employed. My vehicle was stolen off the lot before I purchased it. Vehicle had hidden damage that sonic automotive/fort mill ford tried to cover up. Lights in the bed of the truck did not match. Ford replaced at no cost. Light on side mirror fell off while driving from Fort Mill Ford on the purchase date. Fort Mill Ford replaced at no cost. Water has been leaking in the vehicle which leaves a mildew/sour smell each time after it rains. Since the date of purchase. Fort Mill Ford gives the runaround and never follows up. I have been dealing with Fort Mill Ford for over 2 years and no resolution. I had my vehicle serviced on May 29, 2020 and was told I would have someone reach out in 2 weeks for a water leak and busted headlight seal. Guess what, on June 16, 2020 I called to follow up and was told Brittany Rosol no longer works there which is why there was no follow up. That's a coward excuse. Anyway, I continue on to get scheduled for today since the leak specialist would be on site. I get there and wait nearly 30 minutes before I was acknowledged. After being acknowledged, I went through the normal questioning and walkthrough of the vehicle. Once the walkthrough was completed, Frank Arnold asked if anyone mentioned that I needed to pay 225 for them to just look at it. Of course not!!!!!!!!!!! I've been dealing with this issue since day one and was told that since the vehicle was stolen they would take care of the issue. They just need to locate the leak. Is it my fault that the surveillance system does not work and hasn't worked for years?!?! Frank goes on to tell me that he doesn't see any complaints or mention of any water leaks. That is a BOLD FACE LIE!!!! I asked him why would there be a seal on file ordered for my truck if that wasn't the case, of course he could not explain. Furthermore, Frank Arnold called service to support my claim. Guess what, service confirmed they had the part ordered for the truck. Frank Arnold then stated you will still be charged for the service since I can't see anything on my end to cover himself for waiving the fee. Says I needed to talk to sales. At this point I'm in disbelief due to the endless runaround excuses and time wasted. I asked him if it's my fault he can't see the notes and boldly he said yes. I should have made them print my off a transcript of every conversation after I had one. WHO WOULD EVER ASK THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT to do that?!?!?! Now I see why they cannot keep people employed at this location. I will continue to make myself heard until this problem is resolved. read more
