I was dining in with my friend and we did not hear them call our order. When I finally heard it I was asked how many times they would have to call my name until I came up, and told to clean out my ears when I got home in a very passive aggressive manner. I am a long time customer of this establishment and I do not appreciate this type of treatment. I read one terrible review that upset me being in the hospitality business...it actually made me order tonight to support them. I ordered catering from fortissimo December 19 for a small holiday gathering. I checked my statement this morning and they charged me $15 extra. I called and the manager said that it was the driver tip. Being a restaurant manager for many years I like to give cash tips for the delivery person instead of adding it to the credit card. Calling them and explaining the issue was like me being the issue. One of the manager was nice enough to try to help me after explaining the issue to another worker with no customer skills at all. The other manager told me that she doesn't understand what the issue is. Well the issue is that whoever decided to add that tip is stealing that's the issue ! It's not the money it's the principle . Never ordering from them again ! Everybody check your statements cause I'm sure this isn't the first time ! And the way they handle the situation was completely unacceptable. I don't think they even care of keeping customers because they were more worry of hanging up the phone on me than apologizing for what happened! read more

Ordered a Sicilian dilivery with 2 pepsis I definitely wouldn't recommend ordering a Sicilian pie to go from this place the delivery kid was very nice give them a five dollar tip on a $23 bill but when I bit into it it was just very dry and definitely didn't strike me as one of the better pizzas that I've had I figured we are in New Jersey the pizza would be excellent but This one fell short so I'm only giving it a three star they were nice enough to give us some paper plates and cups and napkins I did not order in this restaurant I found it on yelp for delivery and called in my order read more

We work in West Orange and are always looking for new places near by to try for lunch. Those who ordered pizza (garlic and herb slice and a sausage slice) really enjoyed it. The chicken parmesan sandwich and the gnocchi were okay. The girl at the pizza counter was very nice and helpful; however, our waiter was very rude. When he took our order, we assumed he was in a bad mood or hates his job until we noticed he was being more attentive to other tables. He never came by to check if we needed anything. When my coworker asked for a to-go container, he just kept walking and nodded yes. We didn't even do anything to deserve this kind of disrespect unless you consider asking for a couple of minutes to look over the menu disrespectful. The food here would have been good enough for us to keep coming back for lunch and to spread the word to our large staff but we won't be returning because of this ridiculous experience. I ordered alot from fortissimo, they are close to Mt house and the pizza is great, but I've been a chef for more than 40 years, the one thing that means alot to me is customer service, but they have to stop hiring people to answer their phones I called 4 times to place an order a youn boy answer I told him I would like to place an order for pickup and he hangs up, I called back 3 times someone just picks up the phone and hangs up, I had to order from another place that answered and took my order, I'll try again but I hope they have other people answering. read more

Sorry to say I have been disappointed with their food lately, I'd say within the last few months. They are great neighbors to have, are generous with their time, care about the town and are overall good people, which is why they get 3 stars-that's important. I order food from them to support them, but the time before last I got soggy and tasteless fried zucchini, which I just threw away. Their pizza also isn't as good as it used to be, and the last time I ordered it arrived cold. The delivery time was great (it always is) and I'm right down the street from them so I couldn't figure out how that happened. Their healthy dishes are OK, but overall their food is tasteless. I moved to this neighborhood a couple years ago and fell in love with the place, and it makes me sad. I imagine there was a change in the kitchen - I hope to change this review, and soon! read more

Don't get delivery from here, especially on a Sunday. Two times, over 2 hours delivery time, but they don't tell you that. After the 1st 45 minutes, you call, hungry and distraught, and they tell you "your order is leaving in 10 minutes" and then 45 minutes later they tell you "your order will be there in 5 minutes" and then 20 minutes later they don't know what to tell you. I have been coming here ever since I was a child. I remember sitting at the table playing with pizza dough waiting for some of the best penne vodka I've ever had (still to this day). It's the best of both worlds: a pizzeria and an Italian restaurant. Luckily I have a friend that recently moved into the area and I always suggest Fortissimo's when I'm up in North Jersey. Once I took her, she instantly fell in love with their pizza (especially their Las Vegas pie) Sometimes I just wanna stop in for their warm bread/ garlic knots and olive tapenade just for a snack. Fortissimo is a North Jersey staple!! Better get here early too or you might not even get a parking spot because of how packed this place can get! This place is the example of you DON'T get what you pay for. Their food isn't what it used to be. I've been in West Orange for about 19 years now and it just seems to have gone down hill. Last time I ordered a personal pie from there, the vodka sauce was so salty I had to drink 2 bottles of water and couldn't finish it. The next time, I tried making my own personal pizza and somehow, with all the topping I had and everything, it still lacked flavor and the dough looked pale but at least it was cooked. There are other places that you pay that same price, or cheaper, and the food is better so I don't waste my time anymore. The only time I order is if I'm desperately hungry at work because I know they'll deliver. Also, they should either get more staff to answer the phones or train theirs better. The last time I ordered I went back and forth between two people. I said the order to the guy, he thinks he put me on hold and says something about him trying to finish a catering order, the girl comes on and repeats my order but got some things wrong, I repeat myself 2 different times, and then somehow I ended up back on the phone with the guy I started with. & yeah, delivery does take some time and then when the food comes it's not even hot. read more

I've worked in restaurants for a bit over 5 years and I've never seen a situation handled like this. 1. I understand that delivery does take a while, and I was informed of the 45 min wait, which took a little over an hour. 2. After the food arrived we got what looked like someone used our pizza as a frisbee (the delivery guy apologized like crazy, so I don't blame him). 3. Now here's the kicker. I called the pizzeria and told them of my dilemma and asked if they would like for me to send them a photo of the pie. The girl on the phone declined, but put me on hold to find a solution. She apologized and asked if I would like a store credit for my next order, but to be honest the pizza was luke warm and didn't look appetizing. I just told her that I would like a refund and request food elsewhere. After my 2nd time on hold so that she could talk to her manager they sent the driver back. I would have probably taken it into consideration if there was an offer of a new pie being sent to the address, but that didn't happen. 4. Like i said, the driver came back and apologized, no hard feelings towards him. Things happen. 5. However, my sister called back to talk to a manager and spoke to a man by the name of Chris. From what I over heard he was dismissive, argumentative and non- accommodated. He told my sister that apparently her residence was out of their delivery zone (even though she's ordered there 3 times within the last 2 weeks). After about 3-5 min on the phone he called back 5 minutes lated not to apologize, but to (what I believe) prove some sort of point. Long story first it was about the food, but once the driver apologized, it was down to the way the restaurant handled the ordeal. I remember as a kid going into Pleasantdale Pizza so it still saddens me that they became Fortissimo's (same owners I believe, just a fancier place), but their pizza is still pretty good. I have had a number of different dishes there over the years and I don't think anything was ever awful, but some are definitely better than others. The pizza is pretty good, and depending on how much you eat the personal can be shared with 2 people (or if you eat a lot like me its just for 1). Like Steve said parking can be tough because its a small lot for a lot of stores. Most people don't realize though but the church right across the street other than during services is open to the public. They do have a sign on the church but no one seems to ever notice it. read more

There's a reason I don't eat here and don't order from here. The parking situation is tough. The food isn't particularly special or very good. The prices aren't over the top, but they don't match the quality of their food either. There are far better places for pizza. Their actual Italian food is mid-grade at best. A tip to those ordering a salad: Get your dressing on the side, unless you like wilted greens drowned in 1/2 a cup of oil/vinegar. The food/service and occasional parking frustration don't warrant dining in, and with so many better places making better pizza, it really doesn't warrant delivery. If I lived locally--within walking distance--it might be a decent place to grab a slice, but even then I'd consider other options. read more

After some personal deliberation and time to think it over, I've decided to put my two cents on Fortissimo. I used to go here nearly 15 years ago to grab a couple of slices with my friends after high school got out. Fast forward 15 years, I started bringing my 4 year old son to the "pizza store" every week for the past month for dinner, after he got out of pre-school. The servers were always nice, and the pizza was good. We would usually get a personal pizza, along with a slice or two and share it. Then, the other week I decided instead of a personal pizza, to try a couple of different slices, for variety. I ordered 3 slices at the counter, and started hanging up our coats, pushed the high chair to the table and began to strap my lil one in. That's when the cook and the waitress behind the counter stopped and told me that we weren't allowed to sit in the restaurant. If you only order slices, after 3PM you are not allowed to sit down, you can only take out. They told me if I had ordered a personal pizza, my son & I would have been allowed to eat-in. They apologized to me, and were nice--however, I have never been asked to leave a restaurant. I am not a confrontation person, and I did not want to show that I was hurt, so I just took my son out of the high chair, put on our coats, took our slices, and left. Truth be told, the restaurant was only half-full. Even if they were expecting more people, I don't see why they couldn't just accommodate us and tell us we could eat-in, but next time, we need to order a personal pie in order to sit inside the restaurant. I looked online, and it wasn't advertised that you can only eat-in after 3 if you order off the bigger menu. As nice as they were, based on that experience, I would never bring my family back. read more
