Seems like you have to look far out in advance to get reservations here. We came with no reservations around 530p on a tuesday, no issues getting seated inside. Love the ambience. Noting that consortium holdings really likes their dim lighting, alas, it's a vibe. Service was good. Everything is family style-- so big and shareable servings. They also don't come with rice-- which I didn't mind and we didn't order a side of it. Ordered the honey walnut shrimp, orange chicken and the green beans. This spot sits in a pretty hectic part of town - parking took me about 30 minutes, so plan ahead and show up early. We came on a double date night and got seated outdoors, which was breezy and chill with a neon sign glowing above us - definitely added a cool touch. The menu was simple, which I liked. Still, if you're going for max ambience, try to sit inside - the interior is a whole vibe. Our server was great: super friendly, attentive, and checked on us often. As for the food.. We ordered crab rangoons, hot and sour soup, honey walnut shrimp, fried rice, lo mein noodles, and kung pao chicken. The honey walnut shrimp was okay, and everything else didn't really hit. It lacked that authentic Asian flavor that I'm used to. I wouldn't come back personally, but you have to give credit where it's due. My friend told me that this place is not very good if you have been to convoy. Sadly, I have to agree with her. First of all, the reservations here are weird. You can choose between indoor or outdoor or it is simply outdoor but, day of reservations are not too hard. We managed to get an indoor reservation, but what was kind of astonishing was the lack of AC. For such a decorated beautiful place, I would expect them to have air-conditioning. My husband and I shared three things, the general tsao cauliflower, honey walnut shrimp, and shrimp and pork dumpling. Everything was either too salty or too bland, though the quality of food meaning the texture itself for everything did seem quite fresh however, it was very offputting with all the different flavors that never truly hit. Beautiful and intimate ambiance inside, lit with red lanterns and plastic greenery. We waited 50 minutes on a Thursday night at 6pm, and the hostess texted us when our table was ready. (We dropped by Polite Provisions next door for a quick drink!) The food was alright, with the standouts being the honey walnut shrimp and the salt and pepper tofu--both fried extremely well. I thought the orange chicken was not worth ordering, as it was quite doughy, not very warm, and overall made for an unappetizing bite. The green beans were pretty standard but salty. Amongst four of us we split two bowls of rice which was necessary because the food was generally over-salted. I have been meaning to try this place for over a year. Once I did, I cannot stop coming back. I first visited about two months ago and have been back at least seven times. On my initial visit last, I had to try the egg rolls and crab rangoon. I really didn't like either but that has not deterred me from becoming a loyal fan. I found the outside won ton of the egg rolls to be a bit tough and thick. It is a little difficult to chew. The filling had a good flavor. You receive three egg rolls in an order. I love Crab Rangoon but the filling was a bit less traditional than what I am used to. I like a more creamy and thicker texture. I could smell the seafood but I didn't really taste the crab. Three things that make up my go to order are (1) honey walnut shrimp, (2) lo mein with chicken and (3) fried rice. When I order all three, I find that I can eat it for three meals. Well worth the price. I love leftovers. I initially ordered the honey walnut shrimp based on other Yelp reviews. They did not steer me wrong. It was delicious. The shrimp was large. Took two or three bites to eat one. The coating had a creamy sauce and then the shrimp was dunked in the walnuts. It was a little crispy. The coating wasn't too thick where it overloaded the shrimp. Super yummy. Even better, the coating makes a great sauce for lo mein leftovers the following day. The Lo Mein noodles with chicken are soft and thick noodles with snows peas, carrots, scallions. It did not disappoint. The chicken was cut into big chunks of thigh meat. Nice and juicy. Nothing worse than dry chicken, which this wasn't. The the fried rice is fantastic too. A nice basic flavorful base for any main dish. I was surprised by how well everything heats up the next day. No horrible shrimp smell in the microwave so you will not be shunned by your coworkers. I ordered through the Toast app so it was super easy. I parked down the street on the Adams Avenue bridge and walked three blocks to the restaurant. There is a separate door for take out on the right which made it quick and convenient to pick up dinner. The app will not allow you to order until the tea actually opens. If you want to dine in, I would suggest to get there right when it opens as they are always packed. read more

This is a restaurant worth going to for the decoration and ambiance. It is probably the coolest Chinese restaurant that I've been in to. The decorations are really neat and make for great photos. The food, however, is only so-so. I ordered the orange chicken, and it was overcooked and hard. My girlfriend said her noodles tasted more like Thai food than Chinese. The service started out good until we got our food, and then the server never came back. I couldn't get a staff member to even look my way. I got up to get my own soy sauce. Everything we ate was so delicious, the crab Rangoon was the best I've ever had and I've never had a fried rice with so much flavor. I do have to say that the fried rice and noodles both came to us a little cold, with many noodles stuck together as if they had been sitting out. The service was quick and I saw our food be placed on the window and immediately brought to us so not sure why it was lukewarm/cold. The theming and vibes in this place are so cool, it's small and cozy inside and everything from the chopsticks to the napkins to the lighting is themed and on point. I hate to say it because the wait is always annoyingly long (2-3 hrs) but the last time I arrived, we were quoted an hour and were sat within 15 minutes so not sure why but I guess you can get lucky. We had the salt and pepper shrimp, egg rolls, FS fried rice and shrimp and pork dumplings. The salt and pepper shrimp was sooo good, flavorful af and the egg rolls were super hot and crunchy on the outside. The staffing situation was hectic. The host was practically a ghost occasionally spotted between hosting, waiting tables, and managing the takeout window. I only counted two servers for the entire dining area. It's admirable that the host was doing her best to help her team, but perhaps someone in management should step in before everyone burns out. I mean, a host should ideally be, you know, hosting not juggling three roles like a one-person circus act. Now, communication. Or rather, the lack of it. We received zero updates about our order. My friend eventually went to ask (because apparently asking is the only way to be acknowledged), and miraculously the food was "still being prepared" but like a minute later was being packed? Funny, since it tasted like it had been ready for a while and simply forgotten. I've even been trying to find an email to request a refund, which shouldn't be this hard if customer satisfaction mattered. If you're thinking about ordering takeout here, maybe save yourself the trouble. Unless you're into guessing games, being ignored, and receiving food that tastes like leftovers. I've only eaten here once but every time I try to come the hostesses were so condescending, rude, and don't have plans for seating ever. Especially the guy hosting tonight, waited for 6 hours and at the top of the waitlist for 2 hours. They said my table was ready an hour before they closed especially for what they say as family style of food it's going to take a while so I know I would be rushed if I came back.
