When your highly respected Yelp Community Manager (thank you Matt C.) recommends a restaurant you'd be a fool not to try it. So we drove around until we could find parking and headed on in. The staff was immediately friendly and attentive during our fairly quick visit. We just wanted to try the dumplings that we'd heard so much about and they didn't disappoint. They come in orders of 6 and it's not possible to mix and match so we got one order of pork and one of beef - both fried. We'll have to try the veggie ones next time. These were definitely good and cooked perfectly. The Jasmine tea was also very good. The restaurant is divided into two floors and we stayed on the main floor where the menu was pretty much only dumplings, fried rice, and noodles (in soup or on a plate). They have a varied wine list and a couple of beers. We were told that the upstairs is the "fancy" restaurant where an authentic chef's table experience will set you back a pretty penny. Celebrating my 12 year anniversary, I started off at one of my favorite places. I absolutely love this place. Today I had a dear friend join me in celebrating and she absolutely loved it too, being her first time. We had hot tea, a definite must when you're eating dishes like this. We ordered the fried fish delight special, the lunar new year dumpling special, steamed vegetable dumplings, pork pan fried dumplings, and shrimp street noodles. Omg! Everything is still so delicious and consistent! That's what you call great food. The fried fish is amazing, light, melts in your mouth with a tad of crunch, and savory light sauce. A must try while it lasts. The special lunar new year dumplings are fantastic too, filled with pork and vegetables, flavorful in its own way, and absolutely delicious with the dipping sauce. I honestly feel kind of bad writing this review because I don't normally write negative reviews, but I would be doing a disservice to the Yelp community by not writing this because this place is so incorrectly highly rated. Food: We ordered the green beans, pork dumplings (1 steamed, 1 pan-fried). The green beans were acceptable. The pork dumplings were TERRIBLE. I actually wasn't even sure if they were made with pork and had to confirm because the texture was so unlike real meat. It tasted like they processed pork in a food processor with some binding agent (flour, maybe?) The wrapper was WAY too thick. I honestly don't even remember the flavor because I was just so appalled by the fact that someone said these are the "best dumplings in Denver, hands down". The fact that this menu item was named "Authentic Chinese Dumplings" should've been the first red flag. No authentic restaurant actually puts "authentic" in front of the dish name. I didn't order the pan-fried noodles but based on the pictures I'm sure these would also be terrible. Way overpriced for Chinese food. Service: Our waiter was super attentive and nice, and this is really the only reason I didn't just get up and leave immediately. I would give 0 stars for the food if I could. The waiter had to ask us to stay after we saw the menu and were about to leave, but in retrospect we should've gone with our intuition and not eaten here. The Chinese gem of cherry creek! Came here for date night craving authentic Chinese food, and we were not disappointed! Fortune Wok has a small simple menu full of authentic taste. We ordered pan fried pork dumplings (7 pieces), Shanghai style beef noodles, and Hong shao tofu. The chef is from Shanghai, and his cooking tasted like the cuisine I was used to growing up. The pork dumplings were perfectly crafted filled with a rich pork and vegetable filling. They were decent sized and served with soy sauce. The noodles tasted like the street style noodles from Shanghai served with a good portion of beef. The tofu was a bit more expensive but worth every penny. This place gets REALLY good reviews and honestly I'm very shocked by it. This place wasn't bad when our family visited, but the food isn't very good either. I'll echo the other reviewer and say that if you have had good and authentic Chinese dumplings... you will be disappointed here. Street parking was decent and we were promptly greeted and seated. The employees were friendly and informative. Some of the pictures are outdated here because now the dumplings are $12 for 6. Ambiance was also very chill and relaxed when we arrived on a Saturday afternoon. We tried the steamed pork dumplings, the pan fried beef dumplings, and the beef Shanghai noodles. The noodles, though a little too greasy for my preference still had great flavor and the ingredients tasted fresh. The dumplings however were very disappointing. At $2 per dumpling, I expected something that delivered a superior experience than most fast food establishments and cook at home options. The pan fried dumplings were cooked very well, and the skin/wrap was also done well too. But the beef filling seemed bland, dry and with a smaller portion than expected. The steamed pork dumplings reminded me of a boiled version of the frozen chicken gyozas from Trader Joes. I'm sad to say that I prefer those TJ dumplings over the ones we had here when you compare flavor alone and then value. I'm not sure if this experience is what folks normally get here but I'm guessing not given the stellar reviews. The BEST dumplings we've had so far in Denver, hands down. We regularly order take out from Fortune Wok and don't see that changing anytime soon. I love it when restaurants keep a limited menu but execute all dishes flawlessly. We've dined in a few times as well and received great service. This very strange space in North Cherry Creek has been the graveyard of many restaurants during my time in Denver, but I think it has now found the perfect tenant. The downstairs space is confined by a staircase and the kitchen. It was set up as a bar for a long time, but the bar is gone and there's now seating for two dozen people. There's also a nice outdoor patio, shaded by a large tree. The upstairs is reserved for a formal dinner served at four tables per evening. We came for lunch, though. This place has the most brilliant lunch menu I have ever seen with exactly three items: Jiaozi-style Dumplings, Shanghainese Street Noodles, and Jasmine Fried Rice. Each dish has a few variations. The dumplings can be steamed or fried and stuffed with pork, beef, or vegetables. The noodles and rice can be made with steak, shrimp, vegetables, or duck. There is also a gluten-free River Noodles option. That's it. We started with hot Jasmine tea. The restaurant provided beautiful, porcelain, double-walled tea cups. I had never seen these before. They act like a thermos to keep the tea hot on the inside while keeping your fingers cool on the outside. What an ingenious idea! They worked perfectly. We shared an order of seven fried pork dumplings and a plate of the duck fried rice. Simple dishes, but surprisingly tricky to get right. My friend and I agreed that both were the best executions of these dishes that we had ever tasted. I guess many people in the area agree. The restaurant was packed by noon and take-out orders were flying out of the kitchen. Every single ingredient in the fried rice was clearly fresh. The pieces of duck were moist with an intense flavor. The rice was light and fluffy and all of the ingredients were distinct and tasty without a speck of grease. The dumplings were tender and crispy, fried to perfection, and with a delicious, fresh filling. The dipping sauce was also fresh and flavorful, but not salty. The staff was helpful, efficient, and charming. The dishes came out of the kitchen quickly and were at the proper temperature. I really can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Dumplings, Shanghainese Street Noodles (They do have a Gluten Free options here), and fried rice. 4 stars for the dumplings, get them fried. I suspect the plan steamed ones would be to much dough texture, the crisp adds a lot. We tried all three, beef, pork, and veggie. The beef was tasty with a nice rich beef flavor. The pork were really good, more of what you would expect, but fresh and handmade. The veggies ones were good, my daughter thought they were too mushy compared to the others. The other two dishes were flavorful, a bit on the salty side, but still we gobbled them up. I especially liked the cabbage in the fried rice. We were in the area running errands and weren't in the mood for the typical Cherry Creek restaurant. Luckily, Yelp led me to this hidden gem that offers authentic Chinese street food. We scored a spot in the outdoor dining area and ordered some pan-fried pork dumplings and stir-fried Shanghainese noodles with beef. Everything came out quickly, and it was all savory and just the right amount of greasiness that enhanced the crispiness. Our waiter was really upbeat and helpful, which normally isn't what I would expect from a Chinese restaurant. Fortune Wok to Table gets an extra star for the great service. First time to Fortune Wok for lunch, and had a very good experience.  Restaurant location is bit unique and easy to miss.  Seating is pretty casual, with the main entrance having a handful of tables inside, and several tables outside.  There appears to be a upstairs dining for more formal seating or larger groups. Service was quick, and a pretty limited conversation as the lunch menu is fairly small.  Started with an appetizer of pan fried dumplings, which were well prepared and hot when served. Lunch included the Beef Shanghai Noodles, with a lunch size entrée and followed quickly after the appetizer.  The noodles were prepared perfectly, with a mixture of some vegetables and tender beef. Over all the meal is a good fast lunch, with fresh ingredients and served hot.  I would definitely consider this again for a lunch time stop. read more

On the eve of another shut down for indoor dining, the hubby and I wanted to take a break from cooking and support a local restaurant. We LOVE Chinese and wanted to try a new place. Fortune Wok to Table has a simple, delicious menu. Though it is restaurant week, we decided to order a la carte. The beef pan fried dumplings with the spicy and savory sauces were perfectly crispy and moist and delicious on the inside. You get 7, and for two people, it was a perfect portion. The duck noodles had cabbage and onions, the noodles were thin and soooo good. The duck was simply perfect. Add a little soy sauce and you are good to go! We finished off our meal with the tofu- creamy and delicate with a sauce that was to die for. The crunchy celery added a lovely flavor and texture to the soft tofu.
