We stopped by Fortune Wok to Table for a lunch on a Monday afternoon when we were in Denver last month, and I really enjoyed our experience. The menu is small, which I actually love (not too many choices and they only make things that they know how to make well; I'll take a small menu over a Cheesecake Factory-sized menu any day of the week). They serve dumplings (pork/beef/veg, steamed or fried); Shanghainese street noodles, GF noodles, or fried rice with choice of beef, shrimp, vegetables, or duck; and some specials that change with the season. We shared steamed pork dumplings, beef Shanghainese street noodles, and marinated cucumbers. Everything was good. The service was also good. They have a small outside dining area, which is where we chose to sit. It has some shade, under a tree, and it made for a lovely meal overall. Fortune Wok to Table may have a small menu, but what they make, they make well. I absolutely would return. read more

This is such a great Chinese restaurant in Cherry Creek North!! It's warm and cozy, and has a small but complete menu of tasty, classic Chinese comfort food. We shared the pork pan fried dumplings and the shrimp fried rice (pro tip: always get the chili oil), and I had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. We went here for that reason but the menu was mostly drinks and there were three main food items, dumplings, noodles, and fried rice. We bought them all and they did not disappoint! Google led me to believe they had some proper dim sum, there are pics showing it. Nope, gyoza only now. I asked about this to the manager and got attitude in return. Why treat your customers with such disdain? The waitress was a moody teenager that seemed offended. About what who knows. Hygiene was questionable, glassware was covered in lime and soap scum. It's not even a charming hole in the wall. It's just a shoddy dump in the middle of the glitziest and priciest neighborhood in Denver. Being in LA just a few days ago. My review is probably biased. It would have been 1 star if there were no shrimp on it. The fried rice did not have the wok hey. 6 pieces of shrimp that felt like it was made separately were placed on top of the pile of rice. Egg was not the best treated as there were clumps and it was not even across the rice pile. I think health consciousness of not making it too oily or the fact that it was not made with meat fat madw the taste a bit blend. I felt that if I were going to order fried rice, i am ok with the calories and the oil. Overall, similar to the fried rice that i can get at panda express. The noodles were a bit too greasy but the flavor was there, albeit the noodles themselves were a bit tough. The beef tasted 2nd rate, I think I've had better beef at PF Changs. The ground pork inside of our dumplings was basically mush, almost like a pâté. The jasmine tea was served to us lukewarm. Back again on Xmas eve. We found our server Jeff delightful and helpful. Our only issues were certain food items. Thrilled with: Seafood hot and sour soup, pan fried pork dumpling, duck street noodles, zhu ye qin rice drink, Gao jasmine tea beer. Disappointed with: birds nest seafood (no bird's nest although fresh and delicious seafood, tiny lobster tails), steamed vegetable dumpling, tenderloin cauliflower (lukewarm, tender but not nearly as good as the blackened tenderloin from a previous visit). Best dumplings in town!!! Had the cutest Chinese woman as our server (I think she might be an owner). She joked around with us and gave us some amazing service. She was the only server and the place was packed...and she crushed it!!! Our favorite are the steamed pork dumplings. We also love the duck street noodles! It's hard to convince my husband to eat in the Cherry Creek neighborhood but he is alway willing to go here. I should definitely explain that there are 2 menus...the upstairs menu is much more upscale and the downstairs offers just dumplings and noodles. I was at my local barber on Colfax near the capital one day when my wife and I decided to whip out our phones and look for a good restaurant to have lunch. We found Fortune Wok as one of the top restaurant in the area so we decided to give it a go. Upon our arrival to the area we found the restaurant to be located in the shops near Cherry Creek mall. Parking was a little taskful as we showed up at lunch our on a rainy weekday, but after a few laps around the block we found street parking. Once inside the restaurant was very quiet, and cozy which is exactly what we were looking to get away from the cold and rain. Wanted something different and found Fortune on Yelp. Quick Uber ride from downtown and we arrived. This is a very unassuming place with a very simple menu. Basically had two things to choose from with various options. Noodles and Dumplings. We had the pork dumplings and I had the Duck Singapore street noodles. Both were really good but the duck had the biggest payoff. It wasn't greasy and it had great flavor. Service was really good as they were very attentive. I would come back here again. I had dinner for two here on a Saturday night. Most tables were full, but there was no wait. We ordered fried pork and fried vegetable dumplings, beef noodles and broccoli with garlic sauce. The dumplings were a bit bland; the texture of the vegetable filling was a bit dense. The beef in the noodles was stringy, and the overwhelming impression of the dish was just salt. The broccoli was excellent and the garlic flavor was very strong. Overall, I was disappointed in the food, and for dumplings and rice dishes, I'd recommend Mason's in Aurora, which has better quality and better variety at better prices. read more

While on our trip to Denver we stopped by Fortune for lunch. We had both noodles and dumplings, and they were both incredibly delicious. I love handmade dumplings and when in a new place will try to find the one that has "the best"--Fortune was highly recommended, and it did not disappoint. Even though I love dumplings, I am by no means an expert in Chinese cuisine. We ordered pork dumplings and the filling tasted very different than the dumplings I've tried elsewhere. Different spices and vegetables. Usually pork dumplings have cabbage/leaks/or onions. I believe these had onions, but the spices were what I could not put my finger on. The dumplings were more savory than others I've had, but I wasn't disappointed. It's nice to try something new. For the noodles, we tried the shrimp and duck; both were fantastic. I have to say that if I were to give an award for biggest shrimp I'd ever received in stir-fry they would win. These shrimps were ginormous. It's a silly thing to point out, but there is nothing more disappointing than when you order stir-fry and the meat is on the small side. Denver (I found out) is a bit expensive when it comes to food, so I was very surprised and happy with the portions here compared to price. All in all, we found the experience to be lovely. We dined on their outdoor patio and found it be comfortable and not too crowded. Since we were on vacation, we were in no rush to leave after we finished eating and split a pot of jasmine tea. We never felt pressure to give up the table or pay. If I was ever in town again, I'd be sure to stop by. read more

GIANT dumplings! I probably should have got the pan fried instead of the steamed because they were so thick and doughy and the waitress even tried to push me toward the pan fried. Aw well. That's my bad. I came during lunch when it was pretty empty, and they seemed to have a separate lunch menu which was pretty small. The owner was incredibly kind and took me upstairs to talk about his place, drinks, and let me sample a special wine he got from a vineyard that was honestly excellent. Really just a fun old guy. Fortune Work to Table has become my most favorite, go-to restaurant in this city. It's one of the only restaurants we've become regulars at. I can't wait for warmer weather so I can sit on their patio with a book, an iced jasmine green tea, and an order of panfried beef dumplings. Maybe a gluten free street noodles with steak to share. The most wonderful Chinese family is behind this delicious Chinese restaurant. It's always a joy to be served by Li or Jeff and to catch up. I only just learned of this place, and I am sorry I didn't find it sooner. I live just a mile away but never venture to this neighborhood. But when I heard they serve soup dumplings once a month, I was willing to venture into Cherry Creek. I'm so glad I did. We arrived right when they opened, and there was a line to get a table. Luckily, we didn't wait too long, and we were seated at one of the four tables upstairs. Four of us sampled the pan fried dumplings (pork and vegetable) and the soup dumplings (also pork and vegetable). We also got an order of stir fry noodles. Everything was really good. The xiao long bao had thick "skins" (which my party loved) and, as our server explained, had less liquid due to the effects of elevation. They were delicious and rich in flavor, hand made by the chef early that morning. You could tell that a lot of care and skill went into them. The chili sauce is made with olive oil and chili paste and was flavorful with just the bit a of heat. The menus are small, but it sounds like that enables them to put all of their efforts into exceptional food. Before we left, my husband was ready to make a reservation for dinner later in the week. I was in Denver for a wedding last weekend, staying just outside of Cherry Creek. Checked yelp for a late lunch when I got checked in, and my stomach decided on these noodles before I had the chance to research more options. THEY WERE PERFECT. I couldn't be happier with my experience and the food was incredible. Flavor of the dish was amazing, came out perfectly hot and fresh, with amazingly tender shrimp. I was impressed, to say the least. Was only in town for 3.5 days and ended up bringing my friends back for our final meal in town, and the food was just as impressive the next time around. Parking is hard to come by in cherry creek but we all got parking fairly close by. There's a little lot behind the store, most spots are for customers only of particular stores but a few have no signs on them and I managed to snag some be of those. I almost feel like this is a restaurant that you need to break up into two, as there are two concepts. The first is in the main entrance on the first floor open for lunch everyday and for dinner Tuesday-Sunday. Do you like Dumplings? Do you like Street Noodles? If so, then this is a place you want to check out where that is all they have. The other is on the second floor where it is more of a coursed out concept with a couple of small plates and a couple of large plates. It is only open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for dinner. We dined on the first floor concept, where you have the choice of Dumplings or Noodles. We got 1 order of Pork and 1 order of Veggie. You get to choose whether you want them steamed or pan fried. I like the texture of pan fried, so we opted for that route. The Pork filling is what you would expect with your typical potsticker when eating chinese. The Veggie was a standout to me as it was filled with Spinach, Bok Choy, and noodles. We also tried the Duck Noodles, where they served the noodles more of a street style. The steak/shrimp/veggie option come more as a noodle soup while the Duck and Pork Rib come out more of a street food style (which I also prefer). I liked the way the duck tasted in this dish, I thought the overall dish had a little too much sauce that caused the noodles to be a little more soggy than I prefer. I don't know if that is intended or not. Dining for two, I think the size was about right. Get 3 orders between the dumplings and noodles and you will not be too full or leave hungry. I would be interested in trying the second floor concept as well, as I hear that is really good. I thought this place was a solid find. I have been fortunate to eat at some of the best dumpling places in the country and while this was good, also was pretty standard compared to those. read more
