We were nearby visiting some thrift stores and decided to stop by for some ice cream. There were a few tables outside, so we had a place to sit down and eat with our doggie in tow. TBH, I didn't have high expectations for this little burger stand, and was pleasantly surprised! The food was decent, the restaurant and bathrooms were clean and the service was fast and kind. We both got Double Deckers (double burger with bacon) and medium fries plus a Reese's Twister and Hot Fudge Sundae. I love this place! This Fosters Freeze is so comforting even in just the fact that it is the vintage restaurant and building. Service is always chill (see what I did there?). Friendly people just doing their job and making us feel welcome and happy. They've kept the place safe during Covid times. Even with a line of people, the wait typically isn't too bad. Service is quick at this location too. We love the milkshakes, cones, and even the burgers and fries. There are so many options on the menu, but we always end up with the Classic with Cheese. I LOVE this Foster's Freeze, I always have. The food here is fresh, cooked well and yummy. Can't go wrong with having lunch and then having a sweet treat after. The inside restaurant is clean and well-maintained, or you can sit outside on one of their benches. Service was friendly. Prices have gotten a little high, but I recognize with inflation brings changes to these things. You will be scammed for a tip. If you use a credit card, they have placed tape on the card scanner so no tip or custom tip options are not displayed forcing a tip of a higher %. How can you go wrong with Ice Cream? Well only if you forget to add the chocolate Oreos cookies to the mint chocolate twister! But they made it right, it was okay they were really busy. Good old Foster's Freeze. This legacy location in Morro Bay is classic. I think the sigh on top of the building is original. But Foster's Freeze has greatly expanded their offerings well beyond soft serve ice cream. With grandchildren recently, we were pretty much regulars here. The outside eating area is OK, weather dependent and they keep the interior clean, along with the restrooms. Open every day. Their hamburgers are good. Beefy quarter pounders and with all the condiments. Get a double or the big boss which has two cheeses, bacon and onion rings on the burger. Messy but good. Also grilled sandwiches: grilled chicken or steak and there is a crispy chicken sandwich, which I do like as a break from burgers. Fries, onion rings and chili cheese fries are sides. There is a kids menu which includes corn dogs and chicken strips. But the ice cream is still the main squeeze. Parfaits, smoothies, twisters, floats, banana splits, sundaes, shakes/malts and, of course cones. Chocolate and vanilla flavors and you can get both twisted together. Toppings are endless. Prices will not kill you. Although the owners no longer work here, it seems that a family does. Really nice people, young and old. They truly seem to get pleasure in serving you. Yeah, those but something else just didn't sit well with me...the food was all right, I guess what I didn't appreciate was having to order outside in the blazing sun, then go inside to be able to sit down in some shade (although no ac, no clean tables, and flies everywhere). Nothing I mean nothing was good. We came here starving after driving 5 hrs. So anything would have been good nope not the case. We spent $50.00 here and all of it was just Nasty. No flavor no love no good. Now customer service was even worse. No eye contact just some fat dude with an attitude. He had to hand write or order he acted like he was writing a history paper. My friends and I arrived in town later on the evening and we wanted to get some dinner. We decided on this place and I think we made a good decision. Walking to this establishment I felt a sense of nostalgia. I felt like I was back in the 80's. The place was jumping and the music was playing. Now these days when it comes to the customer service in fast food, it doesn't exist, however I was blown away at how amazing the service was here. The charming woman who took our order was so friendly and engaging. She even smiled! That rarely happens anymore. The staff were working so efficiently. Our food was was hot and it smelled amazing. The smell of the grilled bun and the lettuce brought back so many memories of my childhood. I have been to several fosters freeze locations but none of them have been as good as this place. It was clean, great service, amazing food, and well ran. This was on a Saturday evening to boot. I will definitely come back on my next trip to Morro Bay. read more
