After years of driving by this Fosters Freeze on my way to golf, my wife and I stopped by for dessert. What a busy place! The line was long but it was worth the wait for our soft serve cones. Our indulgence was rewarded by a nostalgic after dinner sweet treat exactly how we remembered. This establishment is well run, clean and efficient. We will be back for sure. read more

I love this place! This Fosters Freeze is so comforting even in just the fact that it is the vintage restaurant and building. Service is always chill (see what I did there?). Friendly people just doing their job and making us feel welcome and happy. They've kept the place safe during Covid times. Even with a line of people, the wait typically isn't too bad. Service is quick at this location too. We love the milkshakes, cones, and even the burgers and fries. There are so many options on the menu, but we always end up with the Classic with Cheese. It's just a simple burger but it's fantastic. My favorite shake is the caramel, mmmmmm!! Fosters Freeze is some of the best ice cream too... definitely worth a stop. CHEERS!! read more

I LOVE this Foster's Freeze, I always have. The food here is fresh, cooked well and yummy. Can't go wrong with having lunch and then having a sweet treat after. The inside restaurant is clean and well-maintained, or you can sit outside on one of their benches. Service was friendly. Prices have gotten a little high, but I recognize with inflation brings changes to these things. The taquitos and the dipping sauce are still one of my favorite things, and getting a peanut butter malt after is the cherry on top! read more

No refills on sodas? Seriously? Cheeseburger and grilled cheese were also a big thumbs-down. And the "Oreo" Twister was essentially just vanilla ice cream (see photo). read more

The food is so so. Just soft serve ice cream, which is ok. The thing that pissed me off was that we drove 30 mins to go here on a Tuesday with my whole family AND THEY WERE CLOSED! With no warning or notice. Closed on a Tuesday afternoon? Are you kidding me? Also it normally closes on Wednesdays, which IS posted. So, is this place ever open?? read more

You will be scammed for a tip. If you use a credit card, they have placed tape on the card scanner so no tip or custom tip options are not displayed forcing a tip of a higher %. Very creative but I won't be back because of that! I always leave a tip but when being forced won't! If they're willing to do that I will assume they will mess with the food also. Scum bags! read more

How can you go wrong with Ice Cream? Well only if you forget to add the chocolate Oreos cookies to the mint chocolate twister! But they made it right, it was okay they were really busy. Good old Foster's Freeze. This legacy location in Morro Bay is classic. I think the sigh on top of the building is original. But Foster's Freeze has greatly expanded their offerings well beyond soft serve ice cream. With grandchildren recently, we were pretty much regulars here. The outside eating area is OK, weather dependent and they keep the interior clean, along with the restrooms. Open every day. Their hamburgers are good. Beefy quarter pounders and with all the condiments. Get a double or the big boss which has two cheeses, bacon and onion rings on the burger. Messy but good. Also grilled sandwiches: grilled chicken or steak and there is a crispy chicken sandwich, which I do like as a break from burgers. Fries, onion rings and chili cheese fries are sides. There is a kids menu which includes corn dogs and chicken strips. But the ice cream is still the main squeeze. Parfaits, smoothies, twisters, floats, banana splits, sundaes, shakes/malts and, of course cones. Chocolate and vanilla flavors and you can get both twisted together. Toppings are endless. Prices will not kill you. Although the owners no longer work here, it seems that a family does. Really nice people, young and old. They truly seem to get pleasure in serving you. Worth your time so stop by when in the central California Coastal Area. read more

Walk in an wow wow !!! This place was spotless, I never been into a froster freeze so clean !!! Customer Service was awesome , Jeanie was our cashier an she was so friendly an when we ask questions she answer them with a huge smile, she even crack couple jokes an made me laugh!! I had the old fashion cheeseburger combo , I ask them to cut in half because usually I don't finish my meal ! A first I ate all of it , didn't have any left overs . The burger was delicious, the fries were cooked perfect an the soda with extra crushed ice was good. This was the best froster freeze I ever been too. Great customer service, restaurant was clean, the bathrooms were spotless an Awesome Customer Service!!! If your in this area I highly recommend this place!!! read more

Love it here. Got the twister and it was PHENOMENAL, the ice cream was perfectly thick and the crushed Oreos was distributed perfectly. The chili cheeseburger was also great and small fries which could have been seasoned better but tasted better w the ranch. Will definitely come back, I wanna try the fish. read more

Id say if you've been to one Fosters Freeze, you've been to them all...but this one seems to be lacking something...AC maybe? Fly traps? Yeah, those but something else just didn't sit well with me...the food was all right, I guess what I didn't appreciate was having to order outside in the blazing sun, then go inside to be able to sit down in some shade (although no ac, no clean tables, and flies everywhere). And on top of all that...no refills on sodas! Really?! Who doesn't offer refills on sodas anymore?! I guess they don't (trying to keep that old 50's theme I guess). Anyways, with all the nice places to eat in the area...this is one to avoid. read more

If I could I'd give them a big Fat 0. This place SUCKS! The food is DISGUSTING. Hockey puck burgers gross frozen patties with freezer taste. Fries are frozen fries. Corndogs are super NastY!!! Nothing I mean nothing was good. We came here starving after driving 5 hrs. So anything would have been good nope not the case. We spent $50.00 here and all of it was just Nasty. No flavor no love no good. Now customer service was even worse. No eye contact just some fat dude with an attitude. He had to hand write or order he acted like he was writing a history paper. Come on how hard is it to make customers feel welcome. Not here they could care less. So sad we threw 50.00 bucks down the drain. This place is outdated run down and dirty. Never returning to this crap show! read more

Normally a great place to eat and service and food but they have a rude young man named Miguel working I told him what I wanted but without bread i got my order I took it back up their he was rude and said if that's like u wanted it would have bread I can change u for another meat patty wtf really was he not listening and wants to treat the customer rude i told him multiple times I wanted the BLT ranch burger no bun he modified it on his own not me thank you which was rude do not go to this place when he is working it's 12:40 on sat dont eat here when he's working he's rude and yells at u and argues. read more

My friends and I arrived in town later on the evening and we wanted to get some dinner. We decided on this place and I think we made a good decision. Walking to this establishment I felt a sense of nostalgia. I felt like I was back in the 80's. The place was jumping and the music was playing. Now these days when it comes to the customer service in fast food, it doesn't exist, however I was blown away at how amazing the service was here. The charming woman who took our order was so friendly and engaging. She even smiled! That rarely happens anymore. The staff were working so efficiently. Our food was was hot and it smelled amazing. The smell of the grilled bun and the lettuce brought back so many memories of my childhood. I have been to several fosters freeze locations but none of them have been as good as this place. It was clean, great service, amazing food, and well ran. This was on a Saturday evening to boot. I will definitely come back on my next trip to Morro Bay. read more

A delicious ice cream "blizzard" treat in Morro Bay is good for that sugar fix. Tried the mud pie twister. It was tasty but a little expensive ($4+ for a "junior" size, like a small from Dairy Queen). Blended a bit too long, would have preferred to have more chunks to go along with the ice cream. But overall satisfied. The location is clean and service was solid. read more

We tend to come here each time we visit Morro Bay! Staff is always friendly and wait time are quick. You order at the outside window but can sit inside the building and wait for your order to be called. They have little tables outside if that's more your style. Staff keeps the inside eating area clean as well! I always make sure to be able to pay and tip in cash but they do take card payments! Make sure to visit here when you can, there's always room for a ice cream Sundae :) read more

The Bayside Cafe did not exist until over 20 years after we graduated. A Cal Poly grad opened it in the state park in the mid-1980s and we regularly visit when in the area. An excellent place for lunch or dinner. If you stay in Morro Bay, this is an easy drive for you. Dinner is less crowded than lunch. By the way, clean bathrooms are outside the restaurant in a separate building. Parking is all along the water front...no problem. A very nice and surprisingly varied menu is all yours. Dinner menu has more seafood and upscale dishes than the lunch offerings. Both are great. Wife had the sandwich and their green chili soup 1/2 & 1/2 ($13 + $2.50). Really good and different. They have this chile soup mixed with chowder which is, to me, even more excellent. My lunch was shrimp enchiladas ($23). Service is great. We had Julia and she know everything about the menus, so just ask. A very nice place to visit frequently. Look at my rater profile and you will see that I rarely give 5-star ratings. Bayside Cafe rates it.

It was perfect...big, open space with plenty of seating at high top tables, bar area, regular tables, and an outdoors area with a fire pit and TVs surrounding the bar and patio. They also had baseball and surfing on some TVs. There's a pool table too. Creative cocktails. Nice, older crowd. After the game, the bar has karaoke. And ALL of the singers were excellent!! (I was just a happy listener!). Met some nice people. They have bands from all over other nights. Turned into an unexpected and fun evening. Oh, they also serve food, but I had just eaten. I did get French fries later, which were seasoned and yummy!

My wife and I ordered two Connecticut style lobster rolls, which were recommended by the owner, along with an order of fries. The best lobster roll I had previously was in Boston, but this one surpassed it. The lobster was fresh and juicy, and the roll was perfectly toasted. I would also highly recommend the fries. They were thin and crispy, almost like a french fry and potato chip had a baby. The service was solid, and our food came out quickly. The surrounding area is clean and there are picnic tables, restrooms nearby and a dedicated parking lot, although it can get pretty crowded. Morro Rock is right across the street, so if you are visiting the area, I would definitely recommend stopping here.

I got the vanilla latte and dark chocolate raspberry scone. The coffee was 5/5 smooth no burnt or bitter espresso taste. The scone was super soft and tasted fresh. They have a lot of cute things to buy like dried flower bouquets, coffee mugs, books, and a fridge with fresh juices. I grabbed some kombucha and sparkling juice for the road.

Now the ramens....complete passes on both. Noodle texture was probably the best thing for both ramens. Both broth was too sweet and it didn't pass for me as a tasty ramen of any sort. Edible...sure, but I wouldn't come back to eat this.

One man at the cash register taking orders. You could read the menu behind him posted on the wall. Very basic options and the interior seating was at 1950s style linoleum kitchen tables and chairs. Probably bought at a flea market. We were crushed. I had a combo platter of one crispy carnitas taco at $23. Ground beef. Very basic and lacked flavor. Outrageous for over $20. Wife had two enchiladas a la carte, cheese and green at $13. Mush. At least we have our memories and hope that someone will come along to resurrect it into at least something close to what was.

Awards? They're running out of wall space.

I had a really frustrating experience at Foster Freeze in Morro Bay. I went in to pick up my order of fish and chips and showed them a picture of my receipt on my phone, but the staff insisted on a physical receipt and started giving me a hard time about it. I explained that I don't keep the paper receipt and had proof of purchase on my phone, but they still refused to help. The manager was especially rude and had a bad attitude the entire time. Instead of trying to resolve the situation, she argued with me and refused to give me either my fish and chips or a refund. I even asked her if everything was okay because the way she was speaking to me felt really unnecessary and disrespectful. Overall, the customer service was disappointing and unprofessional. A simple situation turned into a big problem for no reason. I won't be coming back after the way I was treated. read more

Very nice. Glad it is still here as I would hate to lose one of the few places that know what malt is and how to make a real chocolate malt. I was surprised however when using a coupon for a free junior cone, that the ice cream barely came over the top of the cone. I understand that it was free and that is was a junior size, but it should be the same size as a purchased jr. cone or the coupon is deceptive. I think a business needs to decide if they want to be generous to draw in business, or cheap. If cheap, don't put out a coupon for something free. It just makes you look bad and leaves a bad feeling with the customer. My opinion would be higher if I had never seen the free coupon. Keep up the clean, quality, friendly service and we will keep coming back. read more
