The menu is a combination of traditional American breakfast items, such as eggs, pancakes, waffles, and French toast; traditional American lunch items, such as sandwiches and burgers; and traditional Mexican lunch items, such as fajitas, nachos, quesadillas, tacos, and burritos. Several things make this restaurant stand out, however. First, the food quality is excellent. All eggs are cage free, according to the menu, and the taste left no doubt of that. Even the pancakes and home fries were notably good. Second, menu flexibility is very accommodating of special requests. I had the "Undecided" breakfast which consists of two pancakes, two eggs, home fries, and choice of meat. I don't have any unusual dietary needs in this regard, but I avoid pork and so did not want any of their standard bacon, sausage, or ham, but that led to them offering me either chicken breast meat or vegan bacon; I chose the former. Third, their gluten-free and vegan options, while not extensive, are in the upper tier of anywhere that does not specifically cater to those diets. My companion -- who actually is of Mexican ancestry but also ordered the American-style "Undecided" -- said her gluten-free pancakes were very good. Gluten-free bread and, therefore, gluten-free toast are available. We were not there for lunch, but the menu lists a homemade vegan burger and a vegan "Reuben" made with tofu. This restaurant was Connie's (and Nikki's) for decades, and then went through a series of rapid changes in name and ownership as the Corner Diner and Red Maple. The old counter from Connie's is gone, although I'm not sure at what point it disappeared, and now the seating is a few four-person booths leftover from Connie's and a number of tables that mostly seat four but in a few cases two; interior capacity is about 40, and it was nearly full at lunchtime on a Sunday. The $2 breakfast special trademark of some of the earlier establishments is nowhere to be seen, but maybe that contributed to their demise; be prepared to spend $6-10 for breakfast now, although it's still cheaper than IHOP. Free WiFi is gone, too, but maybe that will be coming back. The take-away menu is the same as the regular menu, so all menu items are available for take-away at no additional charge. There is a small parking lot and a lot of on-street parking, but a sign posted in the restaurant explains that they have an arrangement for customers to park in the business lot across the street on weekends only. The owner, Edgar, came over to check on us. He seems very nice and genuinely eager to please, but at this point he has only been open about a week, and his effort is exactly what is required if he is going to be successful. Jen, the server and only employee, recognized me because she worked for the prior two owners and joked that she "came with the place." I really hope this restaurant makes a long-term go of it because there really is no alternative in the area that has such a good mix of high food quality with gluten-free and vegan options at reasonable prices. read more

This is such a cute little place that has a diner feel. The food was great, prices were reasonable, and the serving staff were so nice and accommodating. We were asked often, but not too often, how things were and if we needed anything and always with a smile and warm energy. There was one small error with my food. They added sausage to my omelette that I didn't order (it was the build your own, and everything I did order was on it). When it came I didn't really care so I just went with it. After a bit the server realized and apologized. We said it really was not a big deal and they asked a couple times if we were sure we were okay. We said absolutely. She took 15% off our bill because service wasn't perfect. I was impressed that they were so concerned about our experience!! Try the homemade muffins. Meat Lover's omelette had an excellent amount of protein and was quite flavorful. The Motuleño, one of the Mexican breakfasts, was a perfect blend of spicy and sweet with the fried plantain. Worst restaurant ever. Orders a few times and they also missed something but because it's a small business I keep trying until today. Order their omelet was expecting meat, tomato and mushrooms, got just cheese. Called to complain and the person who answered hung up on me. Called back and now calls are going to voice mail. I then had to take my 3 kids ages 2-6 in the car drive to the restaurant to complain. My order was not what their menu stated. Not only was my food wrong it took almost 2 hrs to get delivered. Walked into restaurant, I've never seen so much confused servers in my life. The owner or whoever he was refused to give me my money back also he had no idea what's in his menu because he needed a server to get a menu. I am the customer and I know the menu better than everyone working there. Bad business. I may have been upset because he could have tried to defuse this situation but he threatened to call the cops on me, because they messed up. It gets worse but speaking from experience and I've had plenty of years dinning out this is the worst experience of uncountability I've ever come across I'm my entire life. Worst experience ever in the food industry. Your food your restaurant take responsibility don't blame other or Uber when you have them your menu. I will never order from them and I will spread their disgusting way of dealing with unhappy customer. As a minority I don't feel safe knowing another minority decided to handle this the way he choose. Support small business and this is how you get treated. So I'm giving 4 stars bc I love the French toast here sausage is always on point and well cooked. My only criticism is the potatoes every time I order them they are not completely cooked through which we being pregnant really grosses me out personally. I always order French toast meal with eggs on the side. The eggs are alright I would prefer to make at home. But besides that I enjoy their food more than other breakfast spots in my area and my daughter loves the French toast as well read more

The food is delicious and the staff are extremely polite - it truly feels as though you are getting a home cooked meal. Every time I have been here, the chef has come out of the kitchen to make sure meals have been cooked to customers' satisfaction. My girlfriend and I frequent this restaurant on a weekly basis and we have never left disappointed. I ordered the...I can't remember how to pronounce it but basically it's a build your own omelette with up to 4-5 items to include in it. I had mines with cheese, onions, tomatoes, and bacon. I could have added more but didn't want to. You know how some restaurants make the omelette too well done, over fried, dried or whatever? Not Francesca's. The omelette was great!!! Cheese perfectly melted, no burnt marks, bacon well done even the onions were perfectly sauteed. I mean come on. I've said before I'm not a fan of home fries but I'll eat the ones from here all day. I couldn't finish them though because the omelette and toast were filling me up quick plus the 2 cups of coffee. They were well seasoned, not mushy but not too crunchy either, if that makes sense. This is a review for celiacs and gluten sensitives. I wish I could write a good review because the food is good and consistent, service is good, place is clean and inviting. But if gluten is an issue don't go. I have given them 3 tries with notes on how to prepare my food and all 3 have been glutened. Last time feels like the worst. Ate eggs, bacon and potatoes 3 days ago and stomach still very achy. I am going to send info to the owner with a note how critical it is to follow the guidelines and to offer gluten free food without following proper cooking is no help.
