This place is absolutely amazing. I tried this place in July and fell in love with it. This is the best Mexican food I have had in a long time. Great spot. I like that they use queso Blanco in the cheese enchiladas. Get it with tomatillo sauce. Frozen margarita was good. Not great, but to get great usually you need to go top shelf. Flan is usually my ultimate gauge. Coconut flan fantastic. Will definitely eat here again. I pass at least 5 Mexican food restaurants to eat here. Why not 5 stars? The tables are a little tight, so you feel like your sitting with other people. Wish I had a little more room. read more

As we walked up to Frankie's I told my wife " this place just has to be decent". All I wanted was a Mexican restaurant that did have a drive through and think that turning its taco she'll into a Dorito was a good idea. It didn't seem like a tall order. So we walk past the minimalist landscaping and to the front door where we were promptly great by a fellow patron. Nice couple, we each had more kids than should be allowed so we passed the time subtly bragging about each of our kids exploits, certain we were the first to experience such things. I only bring up to say, it was grid lock inside. I never got the full tally but I suspect there were only 4-5 waiters and they were being over run. It was like the Alamo in reverse. Not being one For the fight we opted it sit in the bar as every subsequinte patron did. Save for the fact that my son kept falling off the high bar stool everything went nice. The bar was a pleasant and clean and had an air of familiarity about it which I found settling. Perhaps it was the decor, the bar it self was a thick piece of wood varnished some much when light hit a certain way it created its own rainbow, which would explain the ceiling and the wainscot. Finally the food, I'm not going to lie to you, it was a long wait. I had to break out the "Phineas & Furb" videos on my iPhone to keep my three year old from torching the place. First out, the ubiquitous chips and salsa. Probably the best I've had in a while. The chips were crunchy, light and seemed as though they'd been made on site. The salsa was a a beautiful deep red with a little smoky taste and just enough of a kick to remind you that your some place better. After several baskets of chips And lashings of salsa our meals finally came. Which was good because Phineas and Furb were about to get caught with their hand in the cookie jar, or at least their sister hoped. I wisely ordered the fajitas. I always do first. If they can't make that, it's hopeless. For example go down to Christine's for Mexican by the number. At any rate, the colors where great. The chicken had a nice reddish hue and the veggies appeared fresh and vibrant still with a little crunch. my wife on the other hand took more of a risk by trying some sort of sausage enchiladas in cream sauce. Up until that day I had never had that combination but now I find myself needing it to survive. I don't normally wait that long for a meal. Ill give the staff credit for that a bit too. They were very apologetic, accommodating and worked hard to extricate themselves from the "Grand opening" weeds to get all our meals out as fast. Typical I would have just left and probably bought a #1 with Okra and fries over at chicken e. but I'm glad I waited and I'm glad Sachse finally has a great Mexican restaurant!!! . read more

We ordered from Frankie's 2 weeks ago. They're Brisket Enchiladas are our favorite. They seemed different. Very salty (and it's hard to use to much salt for me) Also, the sauce was off too. I'm not sure what has changed there but it definitely is showing in the food. Sad, because that was a favorite place close to home. read more

Frankie's is a very welcome addition to Sachse. It's easy to judge it from the outside, but don't miss out. The interior is relaxed and delightfully lacking in the typical 20 year-old country mish mash of vinyl and cinder block decor we tend to get. Everyone we encountered was professional, very friendly, and seemed enthusiastic about the place and the food. Oh and the food was great. We aren't huge TexMex fans so there was some skepticism. But one of the previous reviewers was spot-on about the enchiladas with grilled sausage and cream sauce, Angie's Enchiladas. The flavor combination is unique and definitely cravable. The margaritas were also a hit and it appears there's a winning happy hour roster until 6 on weekdays and Sunday all day as well. If you live in Woodbridge you will be so thankful this place opened around the corner. If not, it's worth a drive. read more

This was my first time to eat at Frankie's. We had about a 30 minute wait, and decide to order a sangria. It was good but not one of the best that I have had. Once we were seated, the server was prompt in getting our drinks and queso. I ordered the chicken fajitas which had no flavor. My husband ordered the calamari tacos and my daughter ordered the shrimp tacos. I tasted both and they were delicious! If I go back I would definitely order those over the fajitas! It took me a minute to warm up to Frankie's. Only because it's always so dang packed and I hate waiting. What I learned is they're worth the wait. Exceptional staff that makes you feel like your family. A very warm and inviting local place where after just a few times they seem to know your name. Then there's the food. oh the food! So good. I have yet to experience anything that I haven't enjoyed. Very authentic Mexican food. Reminds me of my vacations to Central Mexico where food is second to none. So many local Mexican restaurants serve nothing but the same ole TexMex dishes; not the case at Frankie's. You of coarse can get the standard fajitas which are amazing, but if you're up to testing the waters they have a full menu of incredible dishes like Chili Relleno, Pork tamales and my favorite Pollo Gordo: Chicken breast stuffed with spinach, mushrooms, onions, and cheese topped with chipotle sauce. Served with mashed potatoes and garlic toast. Incredible!!!! Give em a try. You won't regret it. Normally quite a wait at lunch and dinner but it moves fairly quick. read more

Been here about a half-dozen times in the past 5 years. Never disappointed with the food, beverages OR service. Prices are AMAZING for all the food you get, & they have NO PROBLEM accommodating special dietary needs for NO EXTRA COSTS! Highly recommended and always treat you like family. Highly recommended to arrive by 5 if at all possible, as it is ALWAYS packed. Happy hour is from 11-6 M-F, & all day Sunday. Amazing Marguerita's too! PERFECT spot for my son's birthday! I come here pretty often and I have to say they always satisfy. Service is generally always good, food is amazing, prices are fair, owners and managers are always sweet and friendly. Yep! This place is the real deal. I've been there 4 times now and it's been great every time! From outside, it's easy to set low expectations....not much to look at Once inside, everything changes. Frankie's is small, but the atmosphere is awesome. Great bar, great decor, the HD flat screen in the bar is big and awesome. And the food...well, that is what brings me back. I've had a different dish each time and every time its been wonderful. I recommend anything with the Chipotle cream sauce. It's amazing. The only thing that could be slightly better are the chips...they are a little thick and can be inconsistent, that's the only thing stopping a 5 star review. Staff is 6 stars. We've been to both the Richardson & Sachse locations & find the quality equal at both locations. The margaritas are solid. Good guacamole but not great queso. Salsa has an awesome tangy, smokiness. All of the dinner entrees we've sampled are great tex-mex - enchiladas, chimichangas, rellenos, guiso. Love having a nice covered patio option as well. We've found that both locations are busy early so if you want a no-wait table, you best arrive before 5:30-6 pm. read more

Had dinner at Frankie's for the first time tonight. It was pretty crowded, so we took a table in teh bar area. The chios were insanely greasy, like literally dripping in grease, so they were offering tortillas with the salsa. I noticed later that they were serving those nasty chips without offering an alternative and they were still greasy. I got the Augustin Special (or something like that) and my daughter got the chicken fajitas. I was very disappointed in my meal, which was basically cheese/cheese enchiladas topped with some chicken fajita meat. The meat was dry and obviously prepared earlier. It was getting that dried out jerky look to it. Standard rice and beans. My enchiladas were nothing special, sort a mildly seasoned cheese sauce over 2 enchiladas filled with plain white cheese. Not bad, but nothing special. The bill was 31.00 with the tip. We just had water to drink. Honestly, it was a disappointing meal. Gloria's and Chiloso are consistent and very good. Maybe we will try again in the future. read more

I'm updating my review and adding a star because this place has definitely become my overall, go to, favorite Mexican food restaurant. I like it so much, that I have to limit myself to how much I can go there, in order to prevent myself from getting burnt out (as if that was even possible with such a great menu as Frankie's). But still, I'm not taking any chances. This place is ball-trippin' good. Brisket enchiladas still get my vote as best Mexican dish ever conceived, by the way. read more
