We discovered Frankie's in December 2013. We couldn't believe that a place like this existed in Sachse: the food was amazing, and our waiter was great. So we started going to Frankie's 2-3 times a week. Then I guess the awesome waiters quit, and we started getting average at best service. One time we asked for flour tortillas, and the tortillas we got were burned and crispy - no exaggeration. One of their waitstaff or kitchen staff picked up these crispy tortillas, didn't care at all that they were burned black in places, and served them anyways. Unbelievable. When I told the waiter the tortillas were burnt and I wanted fresh, soft tortillas, he seemed very irritated about it. Last week when we were there, we had Jorge the waiter. Jorge was happy to clear our appetizer plates - but ignored our empty glasses. He served our meals, and disappeared; he never came back to check and see if the food was okay or if we needed anything - and he ignored our empty glasses a second time. We didn't get refills until we got the check - and even then I had to pointedly ask him for the refills. So yes, if you're looking for great food, they've got it: the queso is wonderful, the enchiladas and quesadillas are awesome, and their bartender - he's always on the ball with service - makes great drinks. We still love the food, although the hit or miss service has cut back our visits to 2-3 times a month, instead of 2-3 times a week. read more

i ordered a burrito it was pretty good, not amazing but good. The one thing that disturbed me was not seeing anyone wash their hands. I was sitting at the bar awaiting a to-go order and saw the bartender overfill a cup with ice and use his hand to smash the ice down into the cup, EW!!! After that i see him do everything else with his hands except wash them. I pray that the use gloves in the back or at least wash their hands frequently. Only been there a few times and it was really good. I got the chipotle enchiladas. They were awesome. However when we went we got charro beans instead of refried beans and there was an up charge of .75 cents. We also ordered an additional taco to our brisket tacos plate and that was an extra $4. read more

My family and I have lived in Sachse for over 25 years. We have seen restaurants come and go at this location. Frankies Mexican was amazing! We walked in and were taken back by the changes they made to the place. Great place to come and have dinner and drinks! We were so impressed by the prompt and professional service. I used to eat at this place when it was Plaza de Familia (however you spell it) and the tex-mex was awesome but this place SUCKS! My husband I are always looking for the best tex-mex places and we were so excited for this place to open. We went about a week after it opened around 1 ish on a saturday and it wasn't packed or anything. We got there and noone greeted us and in fact the there were several small tables available and the bar tables were empty. We stood there for about 10 min and had staff pass by us and not say anything, we were actually about to leave when the manager greeted us and sat us and apologized for the wait. I got worried because the staff were running around like crazy as if they were swamped with people and they weren't and everyone kept there focus on this party of 10 people ( I used to be a waitress and this is not that bad, I had a party of 30 once plus other tables and kept everything organized and everyone happy). The waitress we had got our drink orders but took forever to bring them at least 10 min, while we waited for our drinks we were brought chips and hotsauce and it was crap, the hot sauce was put into a tiny little dip dish and the chips were put into a very small bowl( This is TX and we love our chips and hotsauce!!!). The hotsaue was not that good. We finally got our drinks and placed our order, I went safe and ordered the crispy tacos and my husband got cheese enchiladas. The food did come out fast but about 3 min before it did our waitress brought out the tostado things, that are complinentary and I had eaten a few bites when our food came out and she took it without asking if I was done, it was pretty good though. The tacos were cooked way to long, they were brown crispy not good! The rice and beans were okay but they put cabbage on everything, yuck! I asked for more hotsauce because this is Texas and we smother and cover,The waitress brought one even when I told her several and I also asked for more tea as did my husband and never brought refills for our meals. We asked her a second time and still no drinks, we had to eat our entire meal without drinks. I asked for the manager and he never came, I'm sure our waitress forgot that too. The waitress brought our check 15 min AFTER we had already been done and took another 15 to take it, which she then asked oh would you like more tea? I said ya like 30 min ago when I asked and she was like oh yea I'm so sorry and I asked again can we talk with the manager and she said sure, brought us back our check and we sat there another 10 min and finally my husband got mad and said lets go. We didn't tip our horrible waitress and we will NEVER go back! In fact we almost skipped out on our check completely because they took so long to help up and probably would have never noticed! We were not the only people to complain either, we heard other people talking as well! If you want good priced Tex-Mex thats pretty good go to DOS BANDERAS IN DOWNTOWN GARLAND, its located in the old square. read more

Went for lunch here on a Sunday. The place was crazy busy so that's always a good sign. Even though it was busy we still received incredible service. Seating was timely and the place was very clean. Appetizer was great and drink were always well attended to. The entree was phenomenal, I almost licked my plate clean. When the bill came I was shocked at how low it was! $24 for two beers appetizer and two entrees. I think we found our new go to for a nite out. I had the brisket enchiladas today on my first visit to Frankie's. I will be back soon! The dish was very good consisting of three enchiladas stuffed with a mashed potato mixture that seemed to have some spices and perhaps some cheese in them. They are placed on a bed of creamy sauce and then topped with the brisket. I suggested that the dish could be made more interesting by varying the fillings with one cheese, one bean, and one mashed potato enchilada. They said they would be happy to do that for me. This restaurant is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Dallas. The shopping center is slightly hidden inside of a neighborhood, but that just adds to the charm. The place is usually pretty full so there might be a wait (I would recommend going to the ice-cream place next door while you're waiting. Who said you can't get dessert first?) Their brisket enchiladas are some of the most unique ones I've ever had (spoiler: they include mashed potatoes) and they have great happy hour drink deals. The portion sizes are huge and the prices are average. Overall, if you're on the lookout for a great Mexican place, be sure to try out Frankie's! read more

The food is always good and service has always been great! It's just always really crowded inside so you don't have a lot of space between tables. If you are bringing a little one plan to use a high chair if you can because bringing in the car seat can be really tight! The best salsa I have ever had which is always a positive predictor of the food! Chema's Chimi Changa made by dad sigh with pleasure as he took his first bite. Since everyone else had a margarita, I had one too. I was very happy with my decision to substitute a margarita for my usual glass of red wine. So happy, in fact, that I had a second one! By the way, we were surprise party of 10 which didn't even make them blink! The food here is amazing! Probably the best Mexican food I have had in the Dallas area! Service is usually very good also. Everything we have tried here has been fantastic. My only complaints would be that you only get 3 tortillas when you order fajitas, and will have to pay for any additional ones. Also, with to go orders, they are very skimpy on the chips and salsa. The amount of salsa we were given to accommodate our 3 entree order was comparable to 3 ketchup packets at a fast food joint. With those fixes, this would easily be a 5 star rating. read more

I am a huge hot sauce and chip eater.... this place has them both and they are really good. I tried their salad (the one that has a female name in front of it) and it was fantastic. I have only been once so far! I've past by it for years and always wanted to try it, so one afternoon me and my family went. We were sat immediately but I guess it was in a dead section because nobody came by to great us! Despite it being a rather small restaurant and seeing different servers look at us nobody came by. Growing more disappointed with more time that past. After 10 minutes of waiting we flagged down a server. We explained we had been waiting and no one had come! He apologized for the inconvenience and immediately got our food and drink orders and remained extremely attentive for the remainder of our time there! The manager came by and apologized for our wait as well! They were not rude to us by any means and at no point were we rushed. Once the food came our wait was immediately forgiven! Some of the BEST DAMN FOOD I've ever had!!! I go to Mexican restaurants all the time. Pasados, Chuey's, Abuelos, Uncle Julio s, lots of places! Hands down best food! If you like authentic Mexican cuisine, you have to try Frankie's. they have your normal mexican fare (tacos, nachos etc) but also have plenty of unique, one of a kind dishes you don't get at your chain eateries. Their guacamole is one of the best I've had, and their chicken is absolutely amazing. You won't find much on the menu that isn't spectacular. The staff is always helpful and friendly, and the prices are reasonable. If you haven't tried Frankie's, go! read more
