This has quickly turned into my favorite restaurant. Everything is supreme. Fresh, delicious, huge portions. I've never had something I didn't like. However, they need to expand. People stand on top of your table practically while you're eating because there is no room to stand. That is just a small issue they will hopefully fix. What used to be a local hideaway has become THE place to go in Lancaster. The place seems to hop every night, expecially weekends and after Lancaster home football games. Great food, good service, ice cold, and I mean ICE COLD beer from the vintage cooler, plenty of TV's, though it is a Yankee friendly bar (next year Red Sox!), Frank's is it. Really pleasant experience tonight at Frank's on Broadway. I had the chance to go with my husband, aunt and uncle, and toddler daughter. My little girl absolutely devoured her spaghetti and meatballs, which by the way, was an appropriate children's size. I enjoyed one of the specials of the night, a chicken wrap with hummus served with homemade potato chips. It was a pleasant surprise to see that they had watermelon flavor to beer on tap as well. My aunt and uncle stayed classic with a kobe hamburger and a French dip. They mentioned they enjoyed their meals and were planning to return in the future with friends. My husband had a shrimp and avocado burger which I thought was a really creative combination for a restaurant that seems to draw a classic crowd. Another plus, when I called ahead to ask about the children's menu, the woman who answered the phone was kind enough to actually read all of the selections to me, voluntarily. It made it easy to narrow down the choices for my toddler and let her choose ahead of time. Another plus was their spicy gazpacho with grilled shrimp. Great for summer. Just visited for the first time although I've lived close by seven years. Had the bruschetta as an appetizer... It was outstanding!! Ordered a grilled chicken Caesar salad, prepared and served very artistically.. My boyfriend had the French dip, which I sampled, was out of this world!! Service was fantastic; prompt and attentive...we will definitely be going back to try other menu items! read more

Frank's is indeed a great place when you want the best Buffalo has to offer. I first want to say that it has never been "dingy" at least not since I have been going there for the past 15+ years. I have always found the food to be fresh, served correctly and hot. It may not be the biggest place around but, who cares when you can get your meal served the way you like it. As far as the comment about the beef on "weck",(too much salt) that's how it's done in WNY. No other place would know how to do it like we do. There are a lot of regulars at the bar but never have seen a drunk in the place and, like Russ Salvatore, the owner at Frank's, Dan, is never far away with a friendly greeting for all. Their grilled pork chops are awesome as is the steak & greens sandwich, pizza, wings, roast beef and fries with gravy,,,can't go wrong, Can't list all the great menu items but, even their desserts are worth the visit. The wait staff could teach some other places in the area how it's done right, always friendly and helpful. Also, there is outside dining as well, even when the weather starts to cool off, they have a way of keeping you warm,,, Yup, don't miss Frank's,,,in fact, I think just talking about it makes me want to get there soon, read more

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the limited seating (they were super busy when we went) forced us to eat in the bar & it was LOUD. The food was plentiful & YUMMY. There were 6 of us & no one doggie-bagged-it, because we ate EVERYTHING! Really friendly waitstaff & accommodating to my "on the side" requests! I just had a party catered this weekend (12/08/2018) for about 16 people. We chose... Two Entrees & Three Sides & one Hors d'oeuvre (which was extra). Half the order was right on the mark, but unfortunately the other half fell flat. The Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast was excellent, but the Pulled Pork was swimming in oil, we had to put it in a cu lender and drain off the oil before it could be served. (Not BBQ sauce... oil) The sides were Baked Ziti (very good) - Green Beans (very good) - German Potato Salad (NOT good at all). The German Potato Salad was soaking in vinegar. The potato salad was not warm and creamy and there was hardly any bacon bits or chives. Of course the bacon bits and chives could have washed off from all the vinegar. It had to be served with a slotted spoon and still lost it's appeal. Now the Hors d'oeuvre's. We ordered the Fried Ravioli w/ Marinara Sauce which was extra. They were like rocks. They were hard and dry and no amount of marinara sauce was going to fix it. The next day (Sunday) Franks called to see how everything was and I told them exactly what I have described above. On Monday they offered to refund $50.00 dollars + the $15.00 dollars delivery charge, which I did except, but I still thought a little something should have been taken off for the Pulled Pork & especially the German Potato Salad. I've ordered several times from Franks without problems, but I don't think I'll be going back. My word to you is, if you do order from Franks Bar & Grille inspect the food to make sure it up to your standards before you hand over your hard earned cash. read more

Ordered take out. Arrived at the time food was suppose to be ready, 2:30pm. Stood near the take out sign for several minutes (5-10). One Server went around me numerous times - no acknowledgment. Another Server (?) on phone in front of me - taking order for several minutes. Got off the phone - no acknowledgement. Continued to stand there. A simple, "somebody will be right with you" would have sufficed. I always tip too, even though it's take out. Placed my money back in wallet and left. There is always another restaurant out there willing too take my money. Too bad. read more

Granted the food is great, but the WAIT is terrible. We had called to see what the wait might be, and yes it was a Saturday, but was told when we got there it would be 15 minutes, after a little over an hour, and when we specified that we DID NOT want to be seated outside, we were told our table was ready but it WAS outside. If they would have been upfront with us about both the wait and being served outside, we would have left, I know no big deal for FRANKS,but I think in business, honesty is the best policy. read more

If your in Lancaster and looking for a place with great food this is the place. Frank's is noted for their roast beef sandwiches, but I have never had anything bad here. Prices are reasonable. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because seating is limited. If it's after 5 pm plan on waiting for a table. Summers a little easier as they open the patio. Went there with my son for lunch. Decent food but not worth the price. $60 plus tip for lunch in Buffalo much less lancaster? I will not be back. Steamed clams on the special board. No price. I get the bill and it's 16 for 12. Seriously??? 2 sandwiches one with the additional 5 wings, a dozen clams and 2 beers for 70? I don't think so. My wife and I took a day trip to Buffalo this past Saturday 3/9/13 . I live in Rochester now, but am originally from Lockport. Anyway- I've had Beef on wecks, from Niagara Falls NY to Saratoga Springs and from Wilson , NY to Olean, NY. Frank's Grille had one of the most tender and authentic Beef on Wecks, ive had in my life,(I'm 52). My wife agreed and said it was one of the best she has ever had! If you like Beef on wecks, this is the best place you have to go!!! . This is a great local Grille and I love the authentic local tavern charm! read more

Always eat here when in town, or at least get takeout. Wings are some of the best in the area, very large, great flavors, cooked to perfection. Have had several of the sandwiches, all of them are enormous, you will not leave this place hungry. Great, friendly service always. Very friendly staff, really good bar food. Had the grilled chicken with hot pepper stuffing on ciabatta. The roll was fresh, the chicken was well prepared, the stuffing wasn't hot enough for me, but it was very good. The salad I chose as my side was fresh and delicious. I got a take out beer battered fish fry during lent. It was fabulous. It was ready exactly when they said it would be, and it was only 20 minutes after I called! Fish was white, light and flakey. I usually have nothing but good to say about Frank's but today is a different story. The food was fair to good. The 3 Star rating is given due to the presentation of the food. Although the beef and wings were plated nicely, the hot banana peppers and ribs and fries were thrown on the plates. The coleslaw that accompanied the ribs was bad (old.) I should have known something was wrong by the heaping serving we got! It was piled high and spilling over the bowl. When I told the waitress that it was bad....her reply was, "OK." I told her to make sure the cook knows this because it could make people sick if they continued to serve it......her reply was, "OK!" New cook? Poorly trained waitress? We were 5, including a 7 month old,around 4:30. The clearly unhappy person pointed us to a corner tavle, no offer of a high chair. We finally wrangled the chair. No menus, no water, nothing. Another couple arrived and they were offered menus. I flagged the same "friendly "gal and asked for menus. Still no one came to our table. After 10 more minutes of being ignored, I went to the bar keep and asked for water. It finally arrived and we gave our drink orders along with the food as the 7 month old had been there 20 minutes already. We were promised the baby's mashed potatoes Pronto. But again we waited and waited. The potatoes arrived along with our salads. Sure enough, we had no time to eat our salads when the entrees arrived. Our specials were any thing but. Dry, overcooked snapper. What a crime to treat fish like that. The best part of the dinner was the mashed potatoes, so at least our baby had a good meal. read more

It was our first time at Franks. The food looked wonderful, the atmosphere normal bar style. We ordered the special for the Day Prime Rib rare and medium rare mmmm. We watched other great looking entrees arrive for other guests. All of a sudden our waitress returned and stated that they didn't have any rare pieces just end pieces that were well done and another piece medium well. Dying to try the food we agreed. Sorry to say that's when the experience went down hill. The food came out and the Prime Rib was dry, crusted and overdone. The broccoli was very old tasting and everything else was blah. But this is the kicker, after about 15 minutes in during our dining the pink and rare prime rib started rolling in for customers that came after us. That made our meal taste like dog food then. We asked the waitress why there was rare prime rib being delivered to other tables, like the group sitting next to us. Her response was that they had ordered before us. Problem with that was we were there about 30 minutes before the one table showed up and other plates afterwards still had pink prime rib coming from the kitchen. Being that the special for the day WAS Prime Rib we should have never been given such poor pieces that would reflect badly on the business But we did. We sure hope they aren't providing selective treatment to customers because if that's true the truth is always revealed. We would like to request a refund for our dining experience. We have no say as to whether or not the other food they offer is worth trying but our first impression was awful. Very sad because we enjoy good food. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER!! Loud place, so-so food! Went there for a birthday. Sat on the patio. Waited 15 minutes for the waitress to come over. Asked for waters since we already had drinks from the bar. It took 15 minutes to get the water. I then asked for napkins since the waitress spilled some water when she put my glass down. She told me "you'll get napkins when you get your food". She then said "I'll be back to take your order....30 minutes sitting there so far! She then proceeded to go clear off a table and set it...with napkins and then started to clear another table when it dawned on her that we were a very upset table, she came over. When we proceeded to tell her that she shouldn't be clearing a table when we're sitting here waiting to order she rudely said "well I'm here now to take your order!". We were completely dumb-founded! Here we are, trying to give a local restaurant business and they obviously don't need any more new customers! When asking for a manager, we were told he wasn't there. Maybe if a manager was on duty, the restaurant wouldn't be a total cluster! Roast beef was fatty, peppers were overcooked and very greasy as was the Kyle chicken sandwich. There are plenty of other restaurants that would appreciate the business and won't serve your food with a giant side of attitude!!! Will never recommend this place. In fact, I'm telling everyone I know about our experience!!!! People, go to the Fireside Inn or French Pub instead of this place! read more
