Received a warm welcome from the hostess right away. They offer a waitlist you can track, which is a nice touch--our wait was about 20 minutes. Our server was pleasant and gave some great recommendations. We went with Nana's pancakes and the meat omelet. A note for first-timers: you can choose a one-egg or three-egg omelet-- I chose one and it was huge! If I'm in the area again, I'd definitely return. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and welcoming. As a person of color, I did notice some fellow diners weren't as warm, but that's no reflection on the staff, who were excellent. read more

Went at 8:30 on a Saturday morning busy as expected after a 45 minute wait we are able to enjoy the ambience and food inside. Free coffee station outside while waiting was a nice perk. Fast service. I only had time for ONE BREAKFAST on my quick trip to Spokane, WA and carefully chose this place. Love it when I choose correctly!!!! Wow, what an amazing spot and place to eat. Located in an old railroad car (next to an actual functioning railroad), this place is filled with charm. Walked in to a warm greeting to "go ahead and sit anywhere." Friendly attentive service that made me feel more like family than a customer. Big menu and I was told even though it was morning I could order breakfast, lunch, or dinner! Settled in on the cinnamon roll waffle. This MIGHT be the best waffle I have ever eaten in my life! Light and fluffy inside with a CRISP outside. It was topped with a delicious cream cheese frosting and pecans, raisins, and cinnamon. Each bite was a symphony in my mouth! Side of Bacon was also outstanding. Got damn. Tried this place for a 2nd time. Turkey dinners arrived Luke warm at best. Mashed potatoes cold! Sent it all back, new plates... one was hot one still had cold potatoes. OMG! What a wonderful place. The interior is divine and elegant for a diner. We came here on a Sunday morning and was seated immediately in a 2 person booth. We perused the menu and was interested in 3 different choices. Melissa came by to ask what we wanted to drink and ordered a coffee and hot water for my tea. I also asked for a sample of their cream gravy. She immediately brought all items. The gravy was in a small bowl and tasted just like the gravy I make at home. It checked all my boxes; creamy, smooth, and a bit peppery. Yum Yum. We decided to split the Conductor. It was orgasmic. The French toast was cooked perfect. Fluffy, chewy, an browned exactly the way you want them. We had scrambled eggs, bacon, which was perfectly crisp and lean. To top it off we went with fruit. The grapes were sweet and firm, honey dew, pineapple, and cantaloupe were ripe and sweet. Melissa was sweet and came by periodically to check on us and refill coffee. The only thing I don't love about Frank's is the wait. But good things come to those that wait, right? Just be prepared that if you come by on a weekend, you might end up waiting about an hour. The good news is that Frank's has its own parking lot and street parking, so you should be able to find a spot and there is free coffee waiting for you outside if you find yourself waiting for a while. Once inside the train car, the options are plentiful. There are some small booths at the back of the train car and bar seating available. The menu offers something for everyone so you can enjoy a tasty meal while also feeling transported to another time through the ambiance. During my recent visit there was a mimosa special that was perfect for the season. For breakfast I ordered the blueberry muffin French toast and a side of bacon. I'm not sure why I found it so surprising because it was like a hybrid between a blueberry muffin and French toast. But it worked well. Nostalgia doesn't always mean good... This place is an exception. A quick stop right when they opened on a Tuesday morning. Immediately greeted by...a young gentleman enjoying his breakfast sitting at the counter stating sit where you want - huh?? I immediately thought bad things. However, his immediate greeting was followed up by smiles, hellos from literally everyone of the about a dozen staff that was obviously getting ready for the "rush" later that morning. He ended up being a fry cook. Quickly met by our waitress, ordered our food, and it was out in 5 minutes. The franks custom sausage (delicious) soft scrambled eggs (perfectly done), crispy hash browns as requested (with gravy) and some of the best rye toast I've had at a diner in a long time (I'm a breakfast guy). It's a tad expensive (what isn't knowadays) but for being in a city, the quality and quantity of food and the sheer niceness of the entire staff, this place is worth every penny!! It's not open! I walked here from my hotel, it says it's open the sign flashing out front? And yelp says it's open. But then I asked the people in the back and they looked at me like I had lost my mind. There's no sign that says why it is closed. They looked at me like I was bothering them. Local. Great Breakfast. Great service. This place has some nostalgia to it which makes it such a fun place to visit. This is located just north of the city walking distance, but be aware that it's not in the best of walking conditions but a must try. Now the menu has both breakfast and lunch but we decided to try only breakfast items. We got the cinnamon waffle with a side of crispy bacon, which was absolutely super sweet, super indulging and overwhelming with food. We also tried the original Benedict, which was absolutely 100% the best thing that I have ever eaten, this is a must try for breakfast. Would love to come back for lunch. read more

WOW! What an amazing place. I love the rail car diner ambiance. There are wooden benches in the booths and a counter for single dining, just like you picture the Old West. The food is equally amazing. I hade the Southern eggs Benedict. Kind of a gravy snob here, and their texture and taste is perfection. The hash browns are equally delicious. My wife had a 1/2 BLT and loved the taste and thickness of the bacon. Staff is very attentive to you throughout the dining experience. First day in Spokane and came here for breakfast! (tourist from FL) The outside caught my attention (train cart) and the reviews on google which I decided to come here right away. Wait time was maybe 20-25mins on a Saturday morning around 11:30am. Free coffee is provided while waiting :) I saw in the 2 people booth by the window. Space is small but accommodating to what me and my friend ordered. HOBO scramble is what I ordered with 2 eggs ($13). You have the option to add an extra egg which totals to $18. The food was delicious! I even ordered a biscuit as my choice since each breakfast favorite comes with hasbrown and toast or fruit. My friend ordered their new item, Fried Chicken Benedict and said it was very delicious. He also added the gravy and onions to his hash brown which is free of charge. Service and food were amazing. Very cute railcar restaurant. They know they don't have a ton of space so if you're waiting they have a heated cabana with water you can wait in so you don't have to clog up the small entry. Service was friendly but efficient. Fried deviled eggs were good. Not what I expected but had to try them. Wouldn't order again, but you only live once! I got the Caprese eggs Benedict. Not my favorite since the egg wasn't runny, but I would go back and just order something different. Hubs got the corned beef hash and let me tell you, I was so jealous. A must when in Spokane. Besides the novelty of Frank's Diner being in a train car... it truly did serve up one of the best-tasting American breakfasts of my adult life. The atmosphere of the train car is undeniably charming and nostalgic with a lot of its showing of age as its best qualities. Further complimented by the actual freight trains that occasionally rumble past immediately behind. The service is welcoming and friendly -- the wait during weekend peak times can be very, very long from what I was overhearing, but in town on my own for a visit, it couldn't have been any better with immediate seating on the counter during Saturday brunch hours, which in my opinion were also the best seats in the house... right alongside the galley kitchen where all the magic was happening. Food was incredibly delicious. Not what one would ordinarily expect of a diner, but has all the touches of home made with care. Biscuits were a particular highlight... the kind that kept me eating past full, as it would be a crime to have left any behind. read more

However Patrick, who helped me to sit down, was very very rude!! Bar chairs are very uncomfortable to sit on - to high and far away from the bar itself. Super cute place. An old Presidential railroad car from Seattle, turned into a diner. Huge counter seating area, plus small booth seats. My server was Gage, who has worked here for 32 years when the diner was first opened in Spokane. She is actually the waitress in the caricature on the logo. She said most people don't notice it. I had the Derailer. Two eggs, 3 large bacon strips, hash browns, and Belgian waffle with strawberries and whipped cream. I couldn't finish it all, which is why Gage told me it's called the Derailer. I never had to ask for coffee or water refills, and I think the food came out within 5 or 7 minutes of ordering. It was super fast. She even apologized for the extra time, because I asked for my hash browns to be cooked extra crispy. One thing I found interesting. She said they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Amazing diner in Spokane. Visited this place during a not-so-busy Thursday for brunch and they still had a 15 min wait time. The place was busy. We were seated at the bar and immediately loved the ambience. Brunch vibes in a train car - why not? We ordered the orange cranberry French toast, salmon benedict, hash browns, biscuit and home made kam & hot chocolate. Every god damn thing we ordered was delicious and freshly made. Special shout out to their orange cranberry French toast - I felt like I was eating a cake which would melt in my mouth. Delicious burst of flavors. The salmon benedict was divine and their biscuits - top notch. That jam they served with their biscuits was beyond amazing and one of the best jams I have ever tasted. Their side of hash browns is huge so plan on ordering accordingly. Service was quick and food comes out pretty fast. Didn't have to wait long for a table for 3 and we were sat in a cozy booth. Gage our server was nice, and that was an understatement. She was very attentive to our needs (having our coffee mugs filled, etc.). Food was delicious and has a homemade taste to it. After our meal, as we were walking outside I could smell the corned beef that's cooking and somehow still want to eat more after finishing a whole plate of Belgian Waffle and bacon. My group got two omelettes (the Garden Pancetta and the The Works, no mushrooms), which came with fruit and toast (we chose biscuits), each at about $13. Real bang for your buck. The biscuits were buttery, the omelettes were perfectly cooked, and the fruit was fresh. Personally, I was a bigger fan of The Works, which is the way to go if you're looking for a supreme-style omelette with two meats, onions, peppers, and two kinds of cheese. The Garden Pancetta is a newer offering, and I'd recommend it to fans of corned beef hash. It's savory on the inside and refreshing on the outside with the lemon-caper hollondaise. Expect Frank's to have a line. We showed up around 9:30 on a Sunday morning, and there were six parties ahead of us, which turned out to be about a 40 minute wait.
