Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs

Frank's Diner is a classic no-frills breakfast spot set inside a vintage railcar, and it was hands down my favorite breakfast spot during my visit to Spokane. The crispy fried deviled eggs were incredibly unique and absolutely delicious--I could have easily ordered another round. The food was hearty, flavorful, and exactly what you want from a great diner breakfast. The staff was friendly, attentive, and quick, making the experience even better. This is one of those places that lives up to the hype, and I would definitely come back again on my next trip.

Such a cool spot! There was a definitely a bit of a wait with it being Friday, but I'd say it's worth it. It also takes a while depending on your server so for the best experience go when you have a free morning. The food was all tasty, nothing over the top and experimental lol, just classic diner food. For the vibes and decent prices, highly recommend going if you find the time.

Very good food, friendly service and good portions. Prices are comparable for the servings. Place is clean, servers are nice, and everything is pretty much ready at the table. Highly recommend if you're in Spokane

Have been to Franks a few times when visiting my daughter. We try to always go to Franks on our visit. Excellent diner food. Wait staff always have bright shining attitudes and honestly this goes a long way. Franks is in a a railcar. The car was in Seattle for sometime until they lost there lease. Seattle's loss is Spokane's gain. Yummy food, great variety, this needs to be a stop if you are going through or stopping in Spokane.

If you are looking for yummy food, with fun niche decor then Frank's Diner is the place for you!! We always love stopping for breakfast when we are driving through. Jenn, our server was excellent! She went out of her way for us, a couple times! She was sweet, eager to serve, and we had some good laughs! The dinner car is unique and beautiful, and quite a fun way to have food!

My wife (Jennifer) and I were returning to California after visiting her FA and decided to stop and eat at Franks Diner, in Spokane. The restaurant is inside a rail car, and as we entered we were greeted kindly and with a smile by Greeter & waiter, Hunter. Hunter was genial, professional, engaging, and very helpful (Educated us to their menu) as this was our 1st time at their restaurant. Hunter recommended the 1/2 pound Boar Bacon Club Sandwich on sour dough that did not disappoint, was the best "Club" I'd ever eaten, hands down. It consisted of Pecan smoked boar shoulder bacon, house roasted turkey, fresh greens & tomato. Hunter also recommended the New Zealand Caesar House-made salad with fresh romaine, chopped bacon, croutons and parmesan topped with a soft basted egg, my mouths watering just thinking about it. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the 1/2 Fish & Chips with the Hand-cut and breaded arctic cod and fries. Served with house-made coleslaw, & homemade tartar sauce. Our visit to Franks was made so much better because of Hunter's kindness, hospitality, and knowledge of the menu. Plus, he was engaging, intelligent, and a wonderful ambassador for Frank's. Thanks a lot Hunter, and good luck in all your personal & professional endeavors. Rob & Jennifer.....

First trip to Spokane and we needed to eat breakfast as soon as we landed. I did some research ahead of time and I decided on going to Frank's Diner. Service was great from the women checking us in to the service provided by our server. Food was also on point and might I add, getting country gravy and onions added to your has towns is the only way to go. We had normal breakfast fare as you can see by the pics. While the food was great, the total bill (including tip) was on the higher side ($79)

Very cool place on the inside and outside. The service was above and beyond great. Jason and Jack were extremely friendly. However, the food. It just wasn't anything to rave about. My father-in-law said the French dip was way too salty while my husband thought the club was meh. My chicken and waffles were just okay. Unfortunately, there's no return from us.

Friend went to Frank's Diner yesterday and gave it rave reviews so I checked it out today. If you find yourself in DT Spokane, this is a must. Great vibe. Great service. Great atmosphere. All the diner finds you ca ask for. My server Leslie never let my coffee and water get to half the mug or glass. Bring your appetite. Portions are healthy. Also, it's very busy. The foot traffic was constant. If you're a bigger party make sure you're all there. They did have outdoor seating but idk if they serve out there in warmer months. Check it out.

Yelpers came through with a high recommendation and my first time here was not disappointing. Nice diner atmosphere. Great service, great food. Came for lunch but ordered Eggs Benedict with hash browns and gravy. All good!! Will be back for more.

They have flavored creamer and several sweeter substitutes.

PHENOMENAL. I really enjoyed my experience at Frank's Diner. I have high expectations of diner and diner-adjacent establishments. Striking a delicate balance between delicious and satisfying food with an unassuming, no-frills dining room. The staff here is wonderful. Everyone--the host, the servers, and even the cooks--were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. They made me feel very comfortable eating alone at the bar. I liked that very much. Special shout out to my server, Samoana, whose efficiency is only matched by their warmth. A+ to them for customer service! As for the food, I indulged. Gravy and onions on the hashbrowns was real nice. I ordered the hashbrowns extra crispy and they came out perfectly, not burned, just beautifully crisp, almost toothsome, with a fluffy interior. As for the star of the show: two of Frank's Classic Eggs Benedict. I am blessed to have had many Eggs Benedict in my lifetime, across the U.S. and the globe. Frank's are special. First, they were *perfectly* cooked. Great technical skills, chefs! I loved the flavor of the eggs they use. The hollandaise was rich, a very balanced flavor profile. The dish was so satisfying and I ate everything. And I wanted more, but resisted. I adore this gem in Spokane. Thanks for a GREAT brunch experience!

Frank's Diner Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Frank's Diner

Should you make reservations or is the wait not that long?

This place does not accept reservations. It's an old school diner where you show and hope there is no line. I went midweek and had to wait a few minutes but ended up sitting on the bar stool watching the cooks.

Is this place wheelchair accessible?

Yes... there is a wheelchair accessible ramp on the opposite end of main entrance.

Does this place have vegan options? If so, what kind?

No, this is meat and potatoes country.

Is the oatmeal sweetened?

I doubt it. you can sweeten it yourself.

I ordered the Fig Sandwich and the Fancy Pants Sando because I could not decide between the two as they both sounded very unique in different ways. I called the place up and arranged to come pick the food up. The person on the phone was very thoughtful in keeping in mind at what time I would arrive so he could arrange for the sandwich to be toasted at the right time. I appreciate small details like that. When I arrived, I noticed there were several tables and a bar where you can essentially get brews and food. I noticed they had several beers on tap which I was very curious about, but unfortunately did not have time to sit down and eat at this establishment. The person at the bar was extremely friendly and made me feel very welcome. The two sandwiches came up to $40ish. I brought the sandwiches home and first tried a few bites of the Fancy Pants Sando. I will have to say it was the better of the two sandwiches. I appreciated the goat cheese in the sandwich and the mix of different ingredients, but it was not something I would consider to be a great sandwich, at least not for me. Others might find it pleasant, but I did not care for it much. The fig sandwich was the one I was more excited about and expected some sweetness to be cut down by the bacon. I don't think it was a perfect balance between the two, and I got a tad much of the overwhelming sweetness of the figs in this sandwich. Again, others might enjoy it, but I didn't care for it. I really wanted to give this place a great review, but unfortunately it did not meet my expectations. The beer looks fun though and might be a good reason to give this place a try, and you may enjoy their sandwiches and many people have. For me, that's a no-go.

Every contact I've had with Grain Shed employees has been more than pleasant; they truly seem to enjoy working there, and take good care of their customers. I need to shout out to Toby and Audrey before I go on. They each provided 110% on customer service, being personable and making sure we left happy. On 2 separate trips to Spokane, I've visited the Grain Shed 3 and 4 times over the course of 3 days (yes, if you do the math, I went twice in 1 day, and the restaurant was NOT just around the corner!) Everything I've tried is delish, but in case you have to limit yourself, I highly recommend the OG, the beets and feta toast, the bread flight with sauces and cheese, the molasses ginger cookie, and maybe a chocolate croissant. I've heard their bread pudding and pumpkin pie (holiday special) are out of this world! I tried to get over to listen to their live music before leaving town, but still need to squeeze that into my schedule. Travelers: save space in your luggage for a loaf of bread. Sadly, no shipping at this time, but I'm waiting for it! This SoCal resident is officially The Grain Shed's #1 fan. I dare any of you to try to take away my title!

The Grain Shed does a farm to table model and is a bakery and brewery. I got a snack here along with a beer and left quite satisfied. And of course moving on to the beer... the primary motivator to come here. I got the Kölsch beer here called Field Trip. I do love a good Kölsch as they are nice, light bodied beers. And they are especially nice in the summertime. Flavor features in this beer is maltiness, breadiness, a bit of hoppiness and a dry finish. Another beer that Steve and I tried was the INWPA which was a Pale Ale. It was also a nice light bodied beer which again hit the spot despite it being a different drinking session. Flavor characteristics in this beer is citrus, a yeastiness, hoppiness and a biscuity trait. Good beers and sandwiches and we are aiming for a return whenever we are in Spokane again.

We told the server it tasted burnt & old so she offered to make a fresh pot. It was just as bad, when she asked we said it was still really yucky and she said that a lot of people don't care for it. I ordered the tamale waffle. The beef was great, eggs were a bit overcooked but no biggie, the waffle was really hard and dry. It needs some sort of crema sauce or something. It wasn't horrible by any stretch but it wasn't great either. My mom got the veggie breakfast burrito and she liked the veggies though it was bland, felt like it could have had more sour cream & cheese. It was massive and came with a side. The added 16% service fee is some real BS. It says on the receipt that it's split between the server & the kitchen staff. Call me old fashioned but I thought it was on the restaurant to pay their staff a living wage. At $18 a breakfast plate & $4 for drip coffee you should be able to pay your staff. And then we're supposed to tip on top of that? Nope.
