I'm honestly not sure what all the hype is about. We came here because of the number of great reviews, but unfortunately our experience didn't live up to them. When we arrived it was raining and very humid, so we asked whether the air conditioning was on inside or if we would be more comfortable sitting outside. We were told the air didn't work, although we later realized it actually did, so we chose to sit outside and ended up being hot and uncomfortable. You're seated at a table but then have to go inside to order at the counter. The woman who took our order was very short with us, unfriendly, and not helpful at all. I tried asking questions about some of the menu items, the overall attitude felt more like "I don't know and I don't care" rather than an attempt to help. Customer service was definitely lacking. The waiters who brought everything out were friendly, which I appreciated. The food wasn't bad, but it was very basic and nothing stood out enough to justify the hype or make us want to come back. The best thing we had was the vanilla mocha latte. Giving three stars because the waiters were kind and the food was fine, but overall there was nothing particularly special about the food, atmosphere, or experience, and the customer service at the counter really brought it down for us. Unfortunately, I wouldn't return.
The Bottom Line 3 stars: Fratelli Cafe is very highly reviewed on Yelp and Google, but unfortunately it fell short of our expectations. Please read on. Location 3.5 stars: SW corner of Melrose and N Formosa Ave, just West of La Brea. We went there on a weekday and easily found metered street parking but I can imagine that it might be more difficult on weekends. Venue 2.5 stars: Open for Breakfast and Lunch. Older, slightly divey venue that looks better in the pictures. They have indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. We sat indoors which was full of persistent flies that wanted our breakfast and our table was so wobbly that we repeatedly spilled our coffee. They were also doing some construction either in the kitchen or the back during business hours, so you would continuously hear this sledgehammer-like sound. This was very annoying and ruined our experience. Service 4.5 stars: The staff were friendly and pleasant. Food 3 stars: We had their Filet Mignon Benedict (called the Big Ben). I am thinking that we must have picked the wrong food as their food reviews are stellar, but our steak was tough and hard to cut, and the eggs were overcooked. The Hollandaise sauce was also bland and tasteless. We also had the Chocolate Crepes with Berries which were OK. Drinks 3 stars: Beer, wine, coffee and tea. We had the Americano and the White Mocha Latte which were about average.
Finally stopped by for brunch! Unfortunately it was near the time the kitchen was closing but the staff was friendly and patient with us. However, they did seem to throw hints that they wanted to close up like they were spraying windex near us so eating with the smell of windex=not pleasurable. The food was good though but it is pricey especially for a latte. The horchata latte was $9 and it was whatever. I got an egg-white Jackson omelette with buttermilk pancakes with bananas. Both were delicious. The omelette came with potatoes and toast. It tasted fresh even though they brought it out really fast. I'd like to come back without feeling rushed because the food was good.
Came here Sunday morning for brunch. Ordered the Chiquito breakfast tacos and a bottle of mimosa with orange juice. The tacos were tasty with a good amount of chorizo. The mimosa bottle $35. The staff was friendly and efficient. Food came out pretty quick even though it started getting busy. The place has a cool rustic look inside with plenty of seating. Prices are about what you'd expect around Melrose. Overall a good brunch spot. I'd come back and try some of the other breakfast items next time.
Reliable fast-casual restaurant for a good breakfast with something for everybody. I got the Chiquito breakfast tacos, which were very good and the stand out of the meal. The rest of the food was mid, but not disappointing. The cafe itself is cute with indoor and outdoor seating. Fratelli is a safe option if you're looking for a cozy vibe in the neighborhood.
The croissant French toast was fresh and light! The biscuits and gravy were decent, needed a little more flavor but overall great. Service is okay, you order at the counter and they bring it out. Had to ask for plates 2 times and then eventually had to walk to the counter to get myself so that was a bit disappointing. Everything else is self serve... water and silverware. Outside is smaller picnic style tables. The parking is free in the lot!
Cute little corner spot, although it was busy we were sat quickly . Service was so fast here also on the food I was impressed ! Tasty food and good presentation .
I really wanted to like this place, especially with the location being right in the heart of Melrose and all the hype around LA food spots, but unfortunately our experience was pretty underwhelming overall. I ordered the F Burger, and while it looked promising, it lacked the savory flavor and seasoning I was expecting. It honestly tasted like a very basic burger with little personality. The patty had juices, but not that rich, flavorful, satisfying beefiness you expect from a good burger. It also wasn't very juicy or memorable. It's smashed and it's probably why. My wife ordered the avocado chicken sandwich, and sadly the chicken was extremely dry. It just wasn't enjoyable to eat. The fries that came with our meals were lukewarm by the time they reached the table, which added to the disappointment. Service-wise, the food also took longer than expected considering how simple the order was. Maybe they want all our order to come out at the same time? I don't know. The Smoothie "Rooty Tooty" wasn't even refreshingly cold. We actually had to order some ice. We visited on Mother's Day, so I understand places can get busy, and parking on Melrose is always hit or miss, but we still left feeling pretty disappointed with the overall experience. I'm giving 3 stars because the place itself has potential and the staff was fine, but the food quality just didn't match the expectations or pricing. Hopefully management takes feedback seriously because with some improvements in flavor, consistency, and food temperature, this place could be much better. Unfortunately for us, this may end up being both our first and last visit.
Incredible Place to have breakfast! French toast with strawberries, blueberries! So delicious! With side of syrup . Great Service, polite , and very helpful. Clean environment, inside seating with bright lights , decoration is outstanding! Positive vibes , great energy to have friends and family to eat . 10/10 well recommended. Will be back soon !
Enjoyed a delicious brunch here with my husband, who showed me this place. I like the casual atmosphere and cozy interior. Although we sat indoors, I noticed that there was a ton of outdoor seating available. Apparently this restaurant is super popular on weekends, so we were able to avoid any waiting by visiting on a weekday. There are very many beverage and food options on the menu, including all-day breakfast and lunch. This restaurant even offers full vegan and vegetarian substitutions as well as dairy-free and gluten-free options. Everything sounded delicious, but we ultimately ordered these 3 dishes: Crunchy Croissant French Toast: Very delicious and indulgent. A buttery croissant is used instead of a typical slice of bread, making the dish extra rich to eat. The bananas, strawberries, granola, powdered sugar, and white chocolate drizzle brought the entire thing together. I really liked the crispy outer layer and soft interior. Green Eggs & Ben: Served with a side of potatoes, this is a twist on the classic eggs benedict. The 2 soft-poached eggs were covered in a creamy hollandaise sauce. The runny egg yolks mixed very nicely with the english muffins, applewood-smoked bacon, and sautéed spinach. Crispy Fried Shrimp Tacos: My least favorite of our 3 dishes, but still tasty. There were 3 tacos stuffed with fried shrimp, cabbage, carrots, cilantro, and chipotle aioli. Because of the sauce, there was a small kick of spiciness. We had the option to pick fries or house saladon the side, in which we decided on the fries. The fries were nice and crispy.
Cute atmosphere, great food, quick service, and reasonable prices! I've been here twice and tried the Crunchy Croissant French Toast and the Chicken Club Wrap. * The croissant french toast had more of a softer french toast texture than a flaky croissant texture. I liked the fresh fruits and the crunchy granola as toppings. It was filling and a fun sweet breakfast. * The chicken club wrap was delicious and filling! It also comes with either fries or a salad on the side. The chicken was tender, the cheese was melty, and it didn't feel heavy for lunch. It tasted exactly like I expected it to. I would recommend this restaurant for an affordable and easygoing meal. There is street parking (easier to park in the neighborhoods) and indoor and outdoor seating.
Arrived on a Saturday at around 11 am. There was no wait and there was plenty of seating. We ordered the huevos rancheros, signature croissant French toast and the bacon hash. The huevos rancheros were pretty good! It didn't taste too greasy/heavy and had a nice balance of flavors. The bacon hash was mediocre. I wasn't sure what I was expecting but it just tasted like bacon, eggs and veggies mixed together. There wasn't anything that stood out about that dish. Lastly, the signature croissant French toast was delightful! I thought it was an interesting concept and it tasted yummy! Kind of reminded me of pancakes. Would recommend ordering that if you have a sweeter palette. Service was excellent! You order with the cashier first and then they bring your food over to you. We received our food pretty quickly and the workers there were kind. Parking might be a bit difficult since it's on a busy street but we were able to find parking right next to the cafe. Not sure I'd come back since there are several other brunch spots to try but it's worth a try!
It's a very cute cafe, nice interior. It was so hard to choose what I wanted to eat but I got The Chicken croissantwich. My friend got the Smash Burger. I think my sandwich was good with the first bite however as I kept eating I realize that i wanted more flavor. I wish there was more chipotle sauce. The sweet potato fries were pretty good! Very crispy. For the smash burger, I was surprised to see that it didn't come with lettuce or tomato but peppers. For this restaurant, you would order at the front and they bring out your food to you. Very kind staff and good service. I would come again if I was in the LA area.

Inside or outside, the temp is almost the same. Lol Love this great little corner cafe. Sunday morning at 9am on Jan 2,2022 it's brisk but not crazy. I suspect that by 10am when everyone finally shakes the cobwebs off this place will be humming. Way more seating outside than inside. Order inside and they bring your food super fast. It's remarkably fast actually! Biscuits were ok, nothing special but I had low expectations. I really wanted to get a great homemade flakey, buttery, baking powder biscuit (for lack of a better reference). Flavors are tasty. The house potatoes were so yummy. Eggs were well done without being rubberized. We also had the taquitos without queso and they were yummy as well. Great service. Great location. Great outdoor seating options. An amazing place with all-day breakfasts. I loved the atmosphere here. The food is served quickly, and there's a wide selection. I highly recommend trying the croisandwich--it has a fresh taste with a hint of spice and comes with roasted potatoes that are finger-licking good. The iced caramel latte was perfect for a hot day. I decided to come here because it had outdoor seating. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was a bit lack luster. I came early in the morning so parking was not an issue. There is some street parking by houses and metered parking directly next to the restaurant. Pros: -offer outdoor seating -dogs allowed on the patio Cons: -the ordering system is very strange. You need to put in your tables order at the same time indoors, but only two members of your party can place your order. This makes it inconvenient if you come with a group -I ordered a chicken sandwich and the bread was dry and stale and my iced honey latte was bitter -the servers pretty much kicked us out since they said "there were people waiting" even though I hadn't finished my drink Overall, I would not recommend this place if you're coming with 3 or more people. read more

The good times started with the friendly and enthusiastic person that greeted us. Inside seating was plentiful and they sat us even with only 1/2 our party was here. I've gone to places dead empty were they refuse to seat unless your entire party has arrived. Counter service was fast and once again a friendly and enthusiastic person helped us. I got the F Burger with a salad. Me trying to do low carb -HA! Ordered the burger mid rare and it came back medium, just the way I love it! The burger was great and our entire party loved the food - with one exception. My 20 year old daughter was not digging her fried chicken sandwich. The curse if having a poppa who use to own and fried chicken restaurant, or did she just say that to spare my feelings? read more

friendly servers. we got seated very quickly outside. unfortunately the water did not taste good and a bug got inside :( but my eggs benedict tasted pretty good. the egg yolks were cooked solid though. i would want them a little runnier. also there were so many flies outside so i think inside seating is the way to go read more

Arrived 45 mins before close and they treated my party of 3 like royalty. They were incredibly accommodating even though they were preparing to close and we were the last table of the day. Our server, Jason, was outstanding. He made sure we had everything we needed and more, going above and beyond out expectations. We even witnessed one of the workers give an ice cold water and food to an unhoused man that approached us outside. They didn't shun him, they served him with kindness and compassion and my faith in humanity was restored. I ordered chicken and waffles and a mimosa. 10/10 This was my first visit but definitely won't be my last. Happy Sunday! read more

Food was delicious!! I got the chilaquiles with red andand they were very flavorful! Everyone enjoyed their food! We got an iced coffee, matcha and nitro cold brew to drink...personally, I wasn't impressed by the cold brew, normally I love Lavazza but it tasted really bitter for some reason. I came here on a workday morning I had off. I was near the location and went because of the Yelp reviews. I'm more into really good coffee than coffee drinks. They have many of the latter. Their coffee is just ok though. Everything else was great. The Benedict I had was delicious. The poached eggs were perfect and the hollandaise was excellent: I'm not a huge breakfast potato fan. But their fried potato cubes are well cooked and well seasoned. I also got turkey sausage that was excellent. I normally ask for salt and pepper because most food is under seasoned. Not so here. I didn't need to add anything. I truly enjoyed my meal and the service was great. I would come back here for breakfast anytime. read more

Why is this place always crowded?! Today is my husband's birthday so I decided to take him to the place we were always curious about, FRATELLI. Now I understand why people come here. First the customer service is great! We were greeted and seated by the owner of this establishment. You can be seated indoor or outdoor but we chose indoor. I thought there was going to be a server until we were immediately told, when ready to order to get in line. As we sat to look over the menu and decided what to eat, many others joined the line. Even with a few people before us, our food came out in great timing. The pricing was great, food was delicious, and if you get mimosas I recommend just purchasing the bottle because you can get about 6 cups of champagne. We ordered the Croissant French Toast, Biscuits & Gravy, SIDE OF POTATOES, and SIDE APPLEWOOD BACON. Check the photos/video to see the food. EVERY SINGLE TIME I Visit LA... I go To Fratelli Cafe. Their food is incredible. Let's discuss the steak hash shall we? Please grab a seat, and a cloth napkin because you're about to drool a little bit. The steak hash has juicy tender filet mignon bites that are seared to perfection with a light seasoning, rice, fresh bell peppers, pico de gallo, sour cream and two eggs any style. The cast iron skillet comes fresh from the kitchen... no heat lamp taste and brought directly to your table. No skimping of any fixings... no impatient waiting. No randomly sassy LA stereotypical loud crowd. Just mimosas, your food and life. This review can get real rated 17+ if I describe my love for their brioche French toast. It has this gorgeous color, fresh naturally sweet fruit, delicious flavor, thick and soft texture. Lawd is it getting hot in here or just me? I've tried the Huevos Rancheros served with the potatoes. Only suggestion I have is for this restaurant to allow people to reserve a hammock and a blanket. Because ... between the mimosas and the brunch? You have the itis, period. You need a nap Since there is no hammock- feel free to people watch on the covered deck or stay indoors. The mimosas have several flavors available. I am in love... period. Amazing service, amazing food... join the waitlist and be prepared to be amazed. Fratelli Cafe is my new go-to brunch spot! The food. The service. The location. All five star! I visited Fratelli a couple of weeks ago for Sunday Brunch and I'm still dreaming about the Croissant French Toast - but we'll get to that in due time. Pro tip: add yourself to the Yelp waitlist if it's open. When we arrived at around 10:40AM the Yelp waitlist was already closed. So, we walked up to the host and placed our name on the list. We were told that the wait for outdoor seating was about 40 minutes. But, we only ended up waiting about 20 for our table to be ready. Less than anticipated wait time: When we were seated we were instructed to go inside, place our order, and pay at the register when we were ready. I ordered the croissant French toast and added a side of scrambled eggs and fruit bowl, which were both an additional charge. My husband ordered the senorita burrito with potatoes. For drinks, I ordered the strawberry lemonade mimosa and he got the latte. Everything came up to about $68. After paying, we were given a table number that the wait staff would use to identify our table when our order was ready.Reasonable price for the amount of food and drinks: When our food arrived to the table, everything was perfect and then as I was taking a photo, one of the waiters motioned to me and asked, "do you like Nutella?" To which my response was OF COURSE! He told me that the croissant French toast was better with Nutella and brought some to the table. And he was NOT LYING! The French toast was a 7/10 without the Nutella, but with it?! The toast was elevated to a PERFECT 10. Besides the toast, the fruit was fresh. The mimosa was strong and the eggs were okay. Excellent service and phenomenal food: For parking, we found non-metered, untimed parking down the street from Fratelli and we're glad we did because we say a few people getting ticketed for expired meters or failing to move their cars within the two hour time limit. There's plenty of parking around, you just have to keep an eye out for it! Overall, if you're looking for a solid brunch option, Fratelli is perfect! read more

I came here after a night out with friends and really needed something hearty and delicious. The wait wasn't too bad and we were seated within 10 minutes (we had a group of 5). I got the Shakshuka and a green juice. The shakshuka was super delicious and I really liked the flavor profile of the dish. The egg wasn't overly cooked and I loved how the tomatoes burst into my mouth within each bite. I really enjoyed my food and the service here. The employees were super friendly and accommodated my group. Would highly recommend! read more

Visiting L.A. this weekend and tried Fratelli Cafe. Do it. Don't skip or try something else. Go. This was so yummie! My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy. He was surprised to have a proper biscuit that wasn't dry, yet it was dense and slightly toasty on the outside. Staff were all super nice and friendly. We sat outside and even though you are close to a Main Street, it's quiet and pleasant. read more

3 WORDS: croissant French toast! This is the best French toast I've had in LA SO FAR. With the buttery croissant base, the fresh fruit, powdery sugar, and syrup... can't beat it. Paired with a nice hot coffee, it cuts the sweetness really well. I do have to say it wasn't too sweet though. So good! Must try! My Husband also had the breakfast burrito which was soooo perfect too. And it came with felt like triple fried potatoes, that were seasoned so perfectly. I had been eyeing this popular Melrose Ave/Fairfax brunch spot for some time. Now I wish I didn't wait so damn long to stop in! I hopped on Yelp's Waitlist feature to put down myself and partner for a table of 2 at 10 am on a Sunday. I didn't expect to be second in line so quickly. We parked the car at a meter smackdab in front, let the fella at the entrance know the name and were given the option of two tables. Of course, right after we sat down the crowds hit! We scanned the QR code for the menu and were guided to place our order via the line inside to receive our food faster. Regardless of how packed it was, the staff was extremely friendly and attentive. And when I say friendly, I'm talking about how people think my Midwestern personality is on the verge of creepy. Well the guy at the cash register truly wanted to know how each and every customer was, not just "Morning. What do you want?" I recall one customer saying, "I'm surviving." and he then was reminded to focus on the positives in life and there will be a light at the end. What busy LA joint does that?! Only at Fratelli's--where everyone is family! Once the food arrived, it was spectacular! They have classic breakfast items and some unique brunch items. The better half ordered the Sweet & Salty (and they should also add the word Savory in the name) waffle topped with eggs and bacon. All the ingredients jived perfectly together and hit each taste bud. I ordered the Biscuit Benny which was biscuits and gravy with fried chicken in between. I can be particular when it comes to gravy (and often order it on the side), yet Fratelli's was impeccable. Flavorful without being over peppery and creamy without being clumpy. The home fries that it came with were also a delight. My vanilla iced oat milk latte also hit the spot with a nice kick of espresso and slight sweetness--balanced just right. Consistency is very important for any food establishment and Fratelli Cafe sets the bar pretty high. We have been coming to this area every three months for a while and trying places. We found this place in May. The food was fantastic. Here it is August we had to decide where to eat and wound back here. We were greeted by the same familiar face and happen to seat us at the same table. He was extremely helpful on our first visit and three months later, he remembered us and what we ordered. That was amazing in its self. As usual, hen you arrive, you find your table and then order at the counter and then they bring it to you. Again we ordered the same items. I got "The New" burrito and the wife got "Signature Croissant French Toast". The food was brought out in a timely manner and looked as delicious as our first visit. But the taste is just as important. The burrito was just how I remembered. Tasty chorizo and black beans with a good level of spiciness so you can still taste all the fresh ingredients. And the potatoes. Those are perfection. Crunchy on the outside and still soft on the inside. The croissant French toast was cooked perfectly and buttery good. It's topped with blueberries, strawberries, and sprinkled with powdered sugar. You will find this place having a laid-back and relaxed ambiance with a very friendly atmosphere. This review is a little over due, stopped by almost two weeks ago for my dad's birthday and wow, one of the best dining experiences I've had, from the service to the food... 10/10. We started with drinks, parents got some juices, mom got a hot chocolate and everything was delicious. The food arrived quickly and was so good, even though we paid initially they checked on us so many times and helped us with whatever we needed. My dad even asked for tortillas and they were able to get him some. My sister's food took longer than the rest, but they quickly fixed the issue, I believe it was the manager who had such a great attitude and was so helpful. The main reason I'm writing this review however is for Jose, he went above and beyond in every aspect, made this experience so good, so attentive. Huge huge thank you to Jose for his service and great energy, you made this such a great breakfast for my family and I! read more
Went around 1:30pm which was perfect. Seated immediately. The man who seated us was super nice and made us laugh which was nice. Overall the food was good, nothing crazy. Bacon hash was yummy. Ordered Serrano chiles on the side. The skillet was super hot so it kept my plate hot/warm the entire time. Good portion if you're hungry. Probably could feed 2 people. 7/10 Chicken omelette - 6/10. Potatoes and bread were good, chicken lacked seasoning. Turkey sausage was pretty good. Croissant French toast was not what I expected but I had to try it. 5/10. Nothing special. Probably wouldn't order it again. Bleeding juice was tasty but had a lot of pulp. Overall the place is good. Be sure to check in on the waitlist if you can because it does get busy. read more
Not bad, but not nothing great. Not sure if I had high expectations after seeing the reviews, but it definitely did not live up to the hype. You can expect to wait around 30 mins during peak brunch time, but it's not worth the wait and the hassle of trying to find street parking. We got an order of the Norwegian eggs benny, brioche French toast with fruit, and a side of sweet potato fries. Both the sweet potato fries and side of bfast potatoes were super oily and lacked good flavor. The eggs Benny came out a little cold. I found myself wanting to add extra salt and pepper, which I usually don't do when eating out. I expected a lot more from a busy melrose restaurant, but would not come back. If I could give 3.5 stars, I would. read more

Hi! We have vegan chicken, vegan cheese and a ton of veggie options in every category. Our most popular is tofu scramble. :)

What is the maximum amount of people you can take in for a party on a weekday?
Hi! We typically can only do 6 per table the most. It all depends on timing as well. If you can come in early, we would be glad to accommodate more than that.
Sunday brunch: can I make reservations for a party of four?
In our experience, you are better off calling ahead. They are prompt to answer the phone and will let you know if they are taking reservations ahead. In our case they were so busy that we had to put our name there when we arrived and be at the booth…
Is this place Vegan friendly?
Hi! Yes we are. We have tons of options. The only thing we can’t make vegan is our sweet stuff like pancakes etc...

Hi! Yes we can. Our limit is 6 so you’re good :)

You can purchase a bottle of champagne with orange juice for about $20-23
Can you take a party of 6 on weekends for patio dine-in service at this time?
Hi! We can. Just before 10 only. After that we only do parties of 4 as we have very very limited seating due to COVID
