I'm honestly not sure what all the hype is about. We came here because of the number of great reviews, but unfortunately our experience didn't live up to them. When we arrived it was raining and very humid, so we asked whether the air conditioning was on inside or if we would be more comfortable sitting outside. We were told the air didn't work, although we later realized it actually did, so we chose to sit outside and ended up being hot and uncomfortable. You're seated at a table but then have to go inside to order at the counter. The woman who took our order was very short with us, unfriendly, and not helpful at all. I tried asking questions about some of the menu items, the overall attitude felt more like "I don't know and I don't care" rather than an attempt to help. Customer service was definitely lacking. The waiters who brought everything out were friendly, which I appreciated. The food wasn't bad, but it was very basic and nothing stood out enough to justify the hype or make us want to come back. The best thing we had was the vanilla mocha latte. Giving three stars because the waiters were kind and the food was fine, but overall there was nothing particularly special about the food, atmosphere, or experience, and the customer service at the counter really brought it down for us. Unfortunately, I wouldn't return.
The Bottom Line 3 stars: Fratelli Cafe is very highly reviewed on Yelp and Google, but unfortunately it fell short of our expectations. Please read on. Location 3.5 stars: SW corner of Melrose and N Formosa Ave, just West of La Brea. We went there on a weekday and easily found metered street parking but I can imagine that it might be more difficult on weekends. Venue 2.5 stars: Open for Breakfast and Lunch. Older, slightly divey venue that looks better in the pictures. They have indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. We sat indoors which was full of persistent flies that wanted our breakfast and our table was so wobbly that we repeatedly spilled our coffee. They were also doing some construction either in the kitchen or the back during business hours, so you would continuously hear this sledgehammer-like sound. This was very annoying and ruined our experience. Service 4.5 stars: The staff were friendly and pleasant. Food 3 stars: We had their Filet Mignon Benedict (called the Big Ben). I am thinking that we must have picked the wrong food as their food reviews are stellar, but our steak was tough and hard to cut, and the eggs were overcooked. The Hollandaise sauce was also bland and tasteless. We also had the Chocolate Crepes with Berries which were OK. Drinks 3 stars: Beer, wine, coffee and tea. We had the Americano and the White Mocha Latte which were about average.
Finally stopped by for brunch! Unfortunately it was near the time the kitchen was closing but the staff was friendly and patient with us. However, they did seem to throw hints that they wanted to close up like they were spraying windex near us so eating with the smell of windex=not pleasurable. The food was good though but it is pricey especially for a latte. The horchata latte was $9 and it was whatever. I got an egg-white Jackson omelette with buttermilk pancakes with bananas. Both were delicious. The omelette came with potatoes and toast. It tasted fresh even though they brought it out really fast. I'd like to come back without feeling rushed because the food was good.
Came here Sunday morning for brunch. Ordered the Chiquito breakfast tacos and a bottle of mimosa with orange juice. The tacos were tasty with a good amount of chorizo. The mimosa bottle $35. The staff was friendly and efficient. Food came out pretty quick even though it started getting busy. The place has a cool rustic look inside with plenty of seating. Prices are about what you'd expect around Melrose. Overall a good brunch spot. I'd come back and try some of the other breakfast items next time.
Reliable fast-casual restaurant for a good breakfast with something for everybody. I got the Chiquito breakfast tacos, which were very good and the stand out of the meal. The rest of the food was mid, but not disappointing. The cafe itself is cute with indoor and outdoor seating. Fratelli is a safe option if you're looking for a cozy vibe in the neighborhood.
The croissant French toast was fresh and light! The biscuits and gravy were decent, needed a little more flavor but overall great. Service is okay, you order at the counter and they bring it out. Had to ask for plates 2 times and then eventually had to walk to the counter to get myself so that was a bit disappointing. Everything else is self serve... water and silverware. Outside is smaller picnic style tables. The parking is free in the lot!
Cute little corner spot, although it was busy we were sat quickly . Service was so fast here also on the food I was impressed ! Tasty food and good presentation .
I really wanted to like this place, especially with the location being right in the heart of Melrose and all the hype around LA food spots, but unfortunately our experience was pretty underwhelming overall. I ordered the F Burger, and while it looked promising, it lacked the savory flavor and seasoning I was expecting. It honestly tasted like a very basic burger with little personality. The patty had juices, but not that rich, flavorful, satisfying beefiness you expect from a good burger. It also wasn't very juicy or memorable. It's smashed and it's probably why. My wife ordered the avocado chicken sandwich, and sadly the chicken was extremely dry. It just wasn't enjoyable to eat. The fries that came with our meals were lukewarm by the time they reached the table, which added to the disappointment. Service-wise, the food also took longer than expected considering how simple the order was. Maybe they want all our order to come out at the same time? I don't know. The Smoothie "Rooty Tooty" wasn't even refreshingly cold. We actually had to order some ice. We visited on Mother's Day, so I understand places can get busy, and parking on Melrose is always hit or miss, but we still left feeling pretty disappointed with the overall experience. I'm giving 3 stars because the place itself has potential and the staff was fine, but the food quality just didn't match the expectations or pricing. Hopefully management takes feedback seriously because with some improvements in flavor, consistency, and food temperature, this place could be much better. Unfortunately for us, this may end up being both our first and last visit.
Incredible Place to have breakfast! French toast with strawberries, blueberries! So delicious! With side of syrup . Great Service, polite , and very helpful. Clean environment, inside seating with bright lights , decoration is outstanding! Positive vibes , great energy to have friends and family to eat . 10/10 well recommended. Will be back soon !
Enjoyed a delicious brunch here with my husband, who showed me this place. I like the casual atmosphere and cozy interior. Although we sat indoors, I noticed that there was a ton of outdoor seating available. Apparently this restaurant is super popular on weekends, so we were able to avoid any waiting by visiting on a weekday. There are very many beverage and food options on the menu, including all-day breakfast and lunch. This restaurant even offers full vegan and vegetarian substitutions as well as dairy-free and gluten-free options. Everything sounded delicious, but we ultimately ordered these 3 dishes: Crunchy Croissant French Toast: Very delicious and indulgent. A buttery croissant is used instead of a typical slice of bread, making the dish extra rich to eat. The bananas, strawberries, granola, powdered sugar, and white chocolate drizzle brought the entire thing together. I really liked the crispy outer layer and soft interior. Green Eggs & Ben: Served with a side of potatoes, this is a twist on the classic eggs benedict. The 2 soft-poached eggs were covered in a creamy hollandaise sauce. The runny egg yolks mixed very nicely with the english muffins, applewood-smoked bacon, and sautéed spinach. Crispy Fried Shrimp Tacos: My least favorite of our 3 dishes, but still tasty. There were 3 tacos stuffed with fried shrimp, cabbage, carrots, cilantro, and chipotle aioli. Because of the sauce, there was a small kick of spiciness. We had the option to pick fries or house saladon the side, in which we decided on the fries. The fries were nice and crispy.
Cute atmosphere, great food, quick service, and reasonable prices! I've been here twice and tried the Crunchy Croissant French Toast and the Chicken Club Wrap. * The croissant french toast had more of a softer french toast texture than a flaky croissant texture. I liked the fresh fruits and the crunchy granola as toppings. It was filling and a fun sweet breakfast. * The chicken club wrap was delicious and filling! It also comes with either fries or a salad on the side. The chicken was tender, the cheese was melty, and it didn't feel heavy for lunch. It tasted exactly like I expected it to. I would recommend this restaurant for an affordable and easygoing meal. There is street parking (easier to park in the neighborhoods) and indoor and outdoor seating.
Arrived on a Saturday at around 11 am. There was no wait and there was plenty of seating. We ordered the huevos rancheros, signature croissant French toast and the bacon hash. The huevos rancheros were pretty good! It didn't taste too greasy/heavy and had a nice balance of flavors. The bacon hash was mediocre. I wasn't sure what I was expecting but it just tasted like bacon, eggs and veggies mixed together. There wasn't anything that stood out about that dish. Lastly, the signature croissant French toast was delightful! I thought it was an interesting concept and it tasted yummy! Kind of reminded me of pancakes. Would recommend ordering that if you have a sweeter palette. Service was excellent! You order with the cashier first and then they bring your food over to you. We received our food pretty quickly and the workers there were kind. Parking might be a bit difficult since it's on a busy street but we were able to find parking right next to the cafe. Not sure I'd come back since there are several other brunch spots to try but it's worth a try!
It's a very cute cafe, nice interior. It was so hard to choose what I wanted to eat but I got The Chicken croissantwich. My friend got the Smash Burger. I think my sandwich was good with the first bite however as I kept eating I realize that i wanted more flavor. I wish there was more chipotle sauce. The sweet potato fries were pretty good! Very crispy. For the smash burger, I was surprised to see that it didn't come with lettuce or tomato but peppers. For this restaurant, you would order at the front and they bring out your food to you. Very kind staff and good service. I would come again if I was in the LA area.

Brick & Mortar: I love this facility. Beautifully designed and very thoughtful. I was disappointed only because I couldn't take a detailed photos of their uniqueness in their interior without being creepy to other guests Employees: Very energetic, friendly and caring. Their attentiveness was in a great level and their menu knowledge was very helpful. It was raining when we got there. The host bursted out from the front door and welcomed us instantly, which we really appreciate in that situation. She made us scanned the QR code to see menu, seated us, and advised us to go to the wait line whenever we're ready to order. What a great system! Appreciate this so much. Drinks: Got 2 waters. Hot white mocha latte. ~ what an amazing barista they have! They made the best white mocha latte I've ever had. Just the creamy-ness, the perfect sweetness and great espresso won me over. My husband is not a coffee person but he LOVED this latte. Food: - would love to give more stars. Unfortunately 3 is all I can give out for today's dishes. The Chicken Croissanwich. Eggs, chicken, avocado, tomatoes, onions, jack cheese, chipotle aioli. ~ it was good. A normal chicken sandwich. Steak Hash two eggs over easy, filet mignon, rice, beans, bell peppers, potatoes, cheddar, pico de gallo, sour cream. ~ not a fan of skillets. I think anything places in a skillet would always be over cooked and dry. And unfortunately it was in this case. If it was mentioned in the menu, I wouldn't ordered it. But I did order and it was a bit underwhelming and everything just tasted mashed together. The steak pieces are too well-done and a bit too tough. I would love to come back again next time and hoping that I am allowed to make some adjustment during ordering. I am determined to give them full stars. The tie-breaker: Buttermilk Pancake. Two pancakes topped with powdered sugar. ~ just a normal pancakes. A bit too flat for our liking. Adding a little bit of baking soda in the batter might do the trick. I saw this spot on Yelp and decided to give it a try for the first time with my boyfriend and sister. We got here around 11am and was seated right away. We ordered the Shakshuka, Bacon Hash, and the Chicken Croissant. Shakshuka: I was really excited for the Shakshuka since I've had it once in Seattle a while ago and fell in love with the dish. At this spot, you can really taste the tomato sauce. It came with bread and a side of potato hash. I like dipping the bread in it. It tastes similar to eating a tomato soup. The runny eggs and cheese inside helped to make the dish taste creamier. However, this dish was a bit more bland than I would like. I feel like it was missing a certain element of spice. I would give this a 6.5/10 Bacon Hash: This was a well executed dish. The eggs were cooked perfectly for sunny side up. The bacon was crispy and the hash paired well. This dish deserves a 7/10. The Chicken Croissant: I liked how this one had a lot of avocado inside. It was supposed to come with a potato hash, however, we subbed it out for fruits for an extra $3 charge. The croissant was good and tasted healthier than other croissant sandwiches I've tried before. However, this one also needs a tad bit more seasoning. I would give this dish a 6/10. Overall, service was great and attentive, food was good but could use a tad bit more seasoning, and the ambiance here is great for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. read more
Really nice place came here just before Covid and recently returned and food was even better than the 1st visit! The overall restaurant has great vibe & staff is very nice and attentive. Service is great, food is great, you can join the waitlist on google maps to save some time. I love the sandwiches they are great. read more

Best customer service ever! The men at the front are THE best! They are so friendly and the man delivering the food to the tables was so kind and so helpful! The service is out of this world! They are the best! they accommodate you by providing everything you need without seeming like you're bugging! The food was so SO delicious, I had the berry waffles and they tasted to soft yet crunchy!? I LOVED them! they were also not as sweet as regular cafe waffles!! I was full of joy lol. I also tried the Allmans burrito that came with potato pieces! THE EGGS !? so fluffy, so delicious! Ive never ever had a breakfast cafe be so filling in the best way possible! The food was perfect!!! The area is so comforting! Its an LA so to my surprise there are no dangers anywhere in the area! The view of the streets are so welcoming and the people are so friendly! read more
Came here with a group of 5 and the yelp reservation system made it super easy to get our seating about 5 min within when we got there! The staff was also super cute with their rules: 1. Always have a good time and 2. Order at the front. Good: - Huge fan of the phoenix almond protein smoothie - super tasty and also just a great post-workout snack since I was craving something just like this and the large hit the spot - The Smokey benedict was also bigger as well as tastier than I had thought when the dish came out! The potatoes were also super crispy and the eggs were just the right amount of salty. Bad: - We got seated kind of like in the corner of the restaurant so close to the curb and I felt a bit tight on space Overall this place was a great Sunday brunch spot and would come back! read more

My husband and I decided to go to Fratelli cafe after our Hollywood Sign hike. We were very hungry, so we were happy we could be added to the waitlist prior to going. Once we arrived, we were greeted by the host. He offered us outside seating, but we opted to sit inside. Once seated, you stand in line to place your order. We ordered the strawberry lemonade mimosas, Tom Tom burger and the chicken croissant. Everything was really good and we thoroughly enjoyed our brunch experience. It's not super big inside, but it's very quaint and the service was great! If you're looking for a brunch spot, check this place out. read more

Great service and my iced latte subbed w oat milk was p good to start my afternoon. I got the lox egg Benedict and it was okay, I'll prob have a taste of a different Benedict next time I come as I didn't like the flavor of the lox as much as I wanted to. Pros: Let me tell you why this place has a wait, it's because IT IS DELICIOUS!!! My oh my what a gem! I had the eggs on the tomato feta sauce, and it was sooo delightful, I could live off that sauce forever. The potatoes were also very yummy. The entire table loved their food. I very much enjoyed the Bacon Hash combo of over-medium eggs, super tasty bacon, potatoes, peppers, spinach, black beans, and cheddar. The skillet kept the food super hot. To Start Off the Vibe In the spot was super low key and chill coffee spot vibe with the compliment of having great food along with it, the Breakfast burrito was on The spot amazing! My friend and I both agree the food here is good. It's great for your typical breakfast items and the coffee here is ok. What's great about coming on a a Sunday is all the metered street parking is free, but I suggest coming earlier considering the wait for seating. Perhaps reservations on Yelp make sense. I ordered the Jacksons, which consisted of eggs, avocado, spinach, tomato, and Monterrey Jack cheese. I enjoyed the cheesy consistency in the eggs and the potatoes on the side were great. I personally am a bigger fan of French breakfast places, but this was just fine. read more
Fratelli Cafe is a wonderful brunch spot. They have a lot of classics such as a variety of eggs benedict and chilaquiles. Super hearty portions and it feels great having a local diner nearby to get your brunch on :) I'll be back next time I have a craving for eggs benedict with some hollandaise! I also had my very first celebrity sighting here... Christine from Bling Empire was eating with her husband and Baby G, but Baby G has grown and definitely not a baby any longer. read more
We enjoyed a great breakfast here on a weekend morning. Altogether, we tried the shakshuka, French toast, croissant sandwich, chicken and waffle, and breakfast tacos. I would recommend all of them. The portions are decent but not overwhelming, and the flavors are excellent. Prices are reasonable. The decor is pretty cool too (no pictures, you'll have to check it out!). If you're in the area, you can come to Fratelli's and leave full and happy. read more

Hmmm I do be confused by these reviews. Came here on a rainy Saturday because I was craving French toast and saw they had a croissant French toast so I was intrigued. They seat you and once you decide what you want to eat, you line up again to order at the counter and head back to your seat. Pros: No wait, staff were pretty nice & decent portion size. Cons: The food isn't great & definitely not worth the price. We got the huevos rancheros and the croissant French toast. The huevos rancheros was fine.. the sauce was very flat and kind of bland. The potatoes looked like they'd be nice and crispy but they were also just ok and a bit soggy. The croissant french toast was a let down- the first bite wasn't bad but it was a bit dry so I added syrup, but the syrup was weird too so it didn't help and kind of just made it worse. Overall probably wouldn't revisit. read more
When your in the mood for breakfast or brunch this is the place for you! Was in the area and used good o Yelp to find this eatery. Coffee and food were spot on. I went with the Carmel latte and the crepes. You pay first and then they bring it on out hot and ready. Fresh fruit and service was professional and friendly. Restaurant was clean and plenty of tables for seating. We sat outside in the perfect weather. read more

WOW! All around great brunch experience!! There is seating inside, outside, and even out on the sidewalk close to the parking lot (not for cafe customers). First I'd like to commend and celebrate the host. I didn't catch his name, but I was here on Sunday at around 11 am. It was just starting to get busy after we were seated and some customers were more demanding than others but the host maintained a friendly attitude while finding solutions and accommodations for every party's requests. He handled the stress with comedy, ease, and attentiveness. Secondly, I'd like to appreciate the quality of the food. I got the Big Ben, which is a filet mignon with poached eggs and spinach. It was cooked to absolute perfection. The potatoes were crispy and the biscuits were so soft. Also a major plus is the coffee, which is basically served in a bowl of a mug, which is exactly the amount of caffeine I'm always looking for LOL. 10/10 on service 10/10 on food. This place tops my LA brunch recommendations. read more

Get the croissant French toast!! We stopped by this place on a Friday morning. Street parking with a meter. We didn't have to wait for a party of 4 around 10 am. We got a table on the patio. You have to go inside to order/pay and then they bring the food out to you. The croissant French toast was so good! It was topped with fresh fruit and powdered sugar, with a side of syrup. Had brunch on a Sunday morning. Was pleasantly surprised by the short wait time despite the large crowd surrounding the host stand thanks to the efficient staff. Entrees we're great, however side potatoes taste frozen/pre-made. Nice ambiance on the patio and real chill corner location, would come back in the future. read more

Came on a Saturday for brunch and there was about a 10 minute wait, but we entered the waitlist on yelp. Overall a pretty underwhelming experience. The chilaquiles were mediocre, and the chips they used were pretty soggy from the start. By the time we got to the end, the chips tasted like sponges. Pretty bad texture. We got a side of avocado for $2. It was awful, like a quarter of a small avocado, sliced and spread out to look as big as possible. For $2?!! come on... Benedicts were made decently and the sauce was good. Potatoes were good too. Service is almost nonexistent. read more

Decent brunch spot in the area, but personally not my favorite at least based on the dishes that I got! All the dishes were fairly average, and didn't see anything that was too different or unique on the menu. During weekends you can expect it to be busy, we were seated right away but outdoors which is essentially next to a sidewalk-- it was fine but personally not ideal. read more

I've been here twice now (and will probably keep coming back)! The prices aren't bad and the food isn't either. Is it something to write home about? No. Is it a good bang for your buck for cute LA brunch? Yes! The avocado toast was one of the lamest I've ever had. Super bland and a very under cooked egg. The breakfast burrito is what I got last time and it was pretty good! I'll probably stick to that next time lol. My friend got the Lox bagel and again, good bang for your buck, they do not skimp on the toppings or amount of smoked salmon you get. Lots of seating outside, pretty dog friendly, and quick service. Overall, a good place to hit up for LA brunch! read more

Weekend brunch in LA anywhere will pretty much have a wait. Fratelli's is no different, but they do an excellent job of keeping you updated via the Yelp app where you are in line. Ordering is easy. Look at the menu, go to the counter and tell them what you want. You get a number and they bring your order out very quickly. Portion sizes are enormous! Certainly enough for 2 people, or enough to take home for second breakfast. Burritos are worth writing ho.e about, the skillets have a ton of food and flavor as well. The bowl of oatmeal with fruit is huge and would certainly fill you up! If you're in west hollywood and just want a quiet brunch go to, this is your spot read more

Finally stopped by to get some breakfast today and wasn't that crowded. Check in via Yelp, scan code for menu, sit down, figure out what you want and line up inside to the right to order your food and get a #. They bring everything out to you. I ordered The New breakfast burrito & a pumpkin spiced latte. Burrito was flavorful with just the right amount of kick with those jalapeños. Latte was cute and yummy as well. Great service from checking in, to ordering your food and it coming out pretty quickly. Great service and tasty food. Would definitely come back! read more
Great brunch place on Melrose! Fratelli Cafe is a great spot to meet up with friends for brunch. Since it's on Melrose you'll need to be prepared to look for street parking of course, but I didn't have too much of an issue since it's a little further down from all the shops. When we got there, we had about a 20 min wait and we were able to put our names on a waitlist and have them text us while we browsed nearby stores. Once we were seated, we looked at the menu and then went to the counter to order/pay. The staff are very nice and mindful of the crowd that can come in. There were some customers in front of us when we were ordering that were taking a while so they opened up additional counters in the back for us to order/pay. The food was delivered FAST! Maybe only a 5 min wait. I ordered the Norwegian Benedict and my boyfriend got the Chicken and Waffles. Both were very tasty and I recommend both. The Chicken and Waffles didn't come with enough syrup so make sure to ask for extra :) The little potatoes that came with the Norwegian Benedict were cooked perfectly with a crispy outside and soft inside. I will definitely come back here again! read more

What is the maximum amount of people you can take in for a party on a weekday?
Hi! We typically can only do 6 per table the most. It all depends on timing as well. If you can come in early, we would be glad to accommodate more than that.
Sunday brunch: can I make reservations for a party of four?
In our experience, you are better off calling ahead. They are prompt to answer the phone and will let you know if they are taking reservations ahead. In our case they were so busy that we had to put our name there when we arrived and be at the booth…

Hi! Yes we are. We have tons of options. The only thing we can’t make vegan is our sweet stuff like pancakes etc...

Hi! We can. Just before 10 only. After that we only do parties of 4 as we have very very limited seating due to COVID
