Stopped by for a late night bite and it's what you would expect from a diner. The service was okay and the food was good. I liked the ambiance and there was a lot of seating options inside. I would probably come back if I was in the area because it was a nice spot to chill with friends and we played card games while eating our food.

You really have to grade LA restaurants on a curve because the food, service, and value are consistently better than what I'm used to in the Bay Area. Fred 62 delivered on all of that. The old-school diner vibe was a nice touch, especially on a rare rainy LA morning. The food came out fast, and the staff were friendly, welcoming, and on top of things. Solid portions, great value, and a comfortable atmosphere. Fred 62 is an easy five stars for me, and I'd definitely come back the next time I'm in town. BB

This place is great. I mean it's a dinner, it's not trying to reinvent the wheel. Went for pancakes and curly fries at 10pm and it definitely hit the spot. I will say, the prices are higher than I would expect. For 3 pancakes with absolutely nothing else and no sides it was already $14 or $15 dollars. Go for the late night diner vibes with friends and maybe a milkshake if you've got extra cash to burn.

Fred62 has been my go-to destination for early morning and late night food in LA for more than a decade because there is something here for everyone from the vegans to the carnivores with some GF options. With such a wide variety of cuisines, it's not perhaps the best at any particular cuisine (e.g. you won't find the best ramen/pho here, but the noo deli does hit when in the mood). I mostly order a main dish as an excuse to have their milkshakes and bossa nova waffle sundae. Service is always fast and the diner vibes are cozy and strong. Plus, it's open late, which is definitely a plus. Please never change.

The ambiance is a diner vibe. Open seating. We found seats right away and were served within 10 minutes. The food was just okay. We got burgers and a root beer float. I really liked the tots and fries though. Overall the food was overpriced for just being alright. Nice area. Difficult to park.

I finally tried Fred 62 after driving by it so many times, and I'm glad I did. It's a cute little diner with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They're open well past midnight, which is always a plus. I loved the vibe--the car-style booths and the hip hop playing in the back gave it a fun, lively feel. Just a cool spot to end the night. Seated right away and greeted by a friendly + attentive waiter. The coffee was a bit mediocre and watered down, but the food portions were solid and priced fairly. We tried the chicken tenders, a salad, and the cheeseburger--everything was okay. Happy to finally cross this place off my list.

Nice little retro dinner in the corner of Hollywood. The staff. Is very friendly and helpful our waiter suggested the burrito and my husband said it was the best breakfast burrito he's had. I ordered the steak and eggs it's was very delicious. Very nice restaurant, although the prices are not cheap for a breakfast spot. But on the bright side you leave with a full stomach.

This longstanding Los Angeles restaurant located on the corner of Vermont Avenue/Russell Avenue, just a beat down from Franklin Avenue has a lot to offer and then some... Stopped in with my boyfriend who actually recommended Fred's as a favorite of his and our friend Andrew after a nice morning stroll and hike. We got guided to a great booth toward the back with plenty of room for three. Our sever was the absolute best, believe he might be the main manager here (I'm bad with names after a five mile hike #hungrysaidfred). He was more attentive, friendly, funny, and above an beyond. I knew F62 had/has an extensive menu, but did not know they had this amazing plant-based menu (with clearly labeled items throughout for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free friendly options) as well nearly mirroring everything they make traditional and classic. It's comfort and quality food for all and I'm an instant fan! From Avocado or French Toasts to Falafel Plates, Chilaquiles, Burritos, Burgers, Bowls and more... You'll absolutely be hooked. Fresh hot delicious coffee, juices, teas, sodas, milkshakes (including dairy-free), beer, wine, still and sparkling water. A place that feels like that homey timeless diner with modern flare. Fun things to note: Happy Hour Monday through Friday from 2pm to 7pm. Street metered parking or lot paid parking. Gender neutral restrooms (clean as can be). Outdoor seating available. Customer service and time from sit down to food delivery = 5 stars. Over all we had a pleasant and memorable experience. We sat outside facing Vermont with ample shading. The restaurant employees served us as a team where everyone asked if we needed something or brought out food/drinks/silverware etc. Everyone we interacted with was friendly. I ate the burger which was not greasy and they put good amount of bacon on burger. Not sure what kind of bun they use but it was different/good. My daughter had the grill cheese and they used some kind of thick bread (maybe sourdough) again, good. The small fries were ok/basic. I would try other kind of fries if they offer. Pricing felt on high end but probably due to the prime real estate location which gave us a beautiful view. Overall food was good and not greasy!!!!

Fred 62 walks a fine line between performative Los Feliz trendiness and a legit American diner -- with a dash of retro '70s funk thrown in for good measure. I came here for brunch with a few friends and honestly, the food delivered. We got the steak & eggs, avocado toast with salmon, and the shakshuka. The steak was relatively thin (rightfully so) but well-seasoned and satisfying -- especially paired with eggs and crispy hash. The toasts were solid. While the shakshuka leaned a bit too tomato-forward for my taste, it wasn't bad. We ordered about a total of five dishes for the table, and when I saw the bill, it was surprisingly low for the area -- especially considering you're in gentrified Los Feliz. Overall, Fred 62 is a vibe: a little chaotic, a little nostalgic, and definitely worth coming back to for brunch.

The last time I dined here I wasn't all that impressed. It was cool a previous time, before that, when we had come for a collaboration with Tokidoki. I feel like the service is always lacking. We get seated. We get a menu. We sit for a very long time. We figure out what we wanna eat and just kind of stare off into space, looking around. Someone comes eventually. They will take our order and we get exactly what we ask for but somehow it feels like there should be something more. The biggest thing that we're usually missing is the service with a smile. I feel like people always just drop our food off and walk away. There isn't much interaction. The food is decent. It is not anything special. The prices are a bit elevated for what the food items are. I can't say that I'm a fan. It's a cute place but it's gotta be more than cute for to deserve my patronage.

Had a really good experience here. Bloody Mary was spicy and on point. Able to get breakfast at any time! Portions are generous. We got the veggie omelette, steak & eggs, and french toast. Originally, I was not going to write a review, but I figure I had to at least let people know my experience. My friend and I were looking for a place to have brunch. We thought of Fred 62, which neither of us have been to in over a decade, so we decided to give it another try. We don't think will be doing that again anytime soon. I had ordered a breakfast burrito, which, by the way was coming in at almost $20. First of all, it came out came out lukewarm. The flavors were OK, nothing special to write home about. It was supposed to include pork chorizo, but was very light on it. It did, however, have a lot of eggs, which with the price these days, was noted. Still, should not have been at the expense of the chorizo. Then the bill came with a sticker shock. Apparently, they had charged $4 for a side of avocado and pico, which the waiter NEVER disclosed would be an extra charge when he offered it (I confirmed that with my friend). Nor did he say it would be an extra dollar when I asked for another side of pico. OK, I expected the extra pico might come with a charge, but had I known that the original offer wasn't included as part of a $20 burrito, I would've passed on it, as I don't even like avocado!! I was already prepared to spend $20 on a burrito but then you add another $5 for condiments? Without letting me know first? Do you NOT want people to come back?? I think I was still in the daze when I still gave an 18% tip so my total for a burrito was almost $32. Let that sink in. Even without considering the tip, it was still 27 bucks. So, if you want so-so food, and like to pay a lot extra for what should've been included as part of the meal, then this is your place. My fiend loves diners so she recommended this spot since we were in the area! They have the pretty standard diner food with some unique gems such as this bad boy below. They are well known for their "Punk" tarts (spin on pop tart) and since a poptart classified as an acceptable breakfast back in my day, of course I had to try it out! Boy did they deliver. Mixed Berry Punk tart: 5/5 They must have discovered the lost episode of Unwrapped because this is spot on. Not even spot on this is even better. It's everything you've ever wanted for a gourmet pop tart to be and more. Falafel: 5/5 Pretty obscure for me to get at a diner but it did say best in town and I thought they were pretty scrumptious. More moist and flavorful than other falafels I've had. Chai milkshake: 5/5 Boy if I wasn't lactose intolerant I would've gobbled this in a heartbeat. It tastes pretty holiday but not too over bearing on the nutmeg Parking: 2/5 It's a doozy. Mostly residential bc the street might be taken so expect walking over a block away at least. Atmosphere: 5/5 It's pretty cool inside! It has a retro vibe. Overall I'm not huge on paying for overpriced breakfast but it is in fact a diner so if you don't mind, go for it. A friend of a LA friend recommended Fred 62 to us for brunch so we decided to stop in on our way to the Griffith Observatory. We sat on the side patio as it was a sunny, hot day. I ordered the East of Eden salad ($15.99) and my friend had the Tuna Melt ($14.99). The tuna sandwich was delicious and came with crispy thin shoestring fries. My salad on the other hand was heavily drenched in dressing and not that appetizing. I ended up eating all the falafels around the edge of the salad and leaving most of the soggy greens. In hindsight, I should have just ordered something else...anything else. The menu at Fred 62 is extensive, almost too many choices! Loved the retro decor inside - will stick with the diner offerings next time...forget you, salad! read more

Came here a month ago after a hike at Griffith park around 10am. Parked about 3 blocks down, not bad since it was a nice day. Sat outside in minutes. The server was attentive and we got served quick. I ordered avocado toast with 2 medium eggs with 2 strips of bacon. This was a good choice kind a healthful and Appetizing. I washed my food down with OJ. The inside was a diner style the outdoor seating was aligned outside the building where we can see the street wake up for the morning. We went there very late at night, our group was quite large and drunk lol. Mario was our waiter and he was very nice and attentive. I been here a few times, so when it was suggested to come here for food. I was going to get my favorite, panqueques con dulce de leche, I asked Mario for suggestions and he mentioned the waffle chicken sliders. Great choice!!! The freaking holy grail of French Toast!!! I mean what else do I have to say about this place!? You walk in and you go back into the 60's diner era. The colors and decor look cool. I've been coming to Freds for at least 12 years now. It's my favorite dinner in LA and always a good time. Its the perfect night cap to a late evening. First time, food was delicious and fast to the table. We had pancakes, soft fluffy and served with real butter. The poblano chili and cheddar biscuit was to die for topped with the maple butter melted in your mouth.. my sister had a classic turkey club With shoe string, french fries crispy and hot. My husband had a classic eggs Benedict, hollandaise sauce was smooth and creamy and the poached eggs were cooked perfectly . The hash browns classically prepared with fresh potatoes. read more

The last time I was here was years ago to meet a friend from high school. Since we were in the area, I wanted to stop by here for brunch. This time around we had the Avocado toast with egg and a side of hash browns. It did not disappoint and staff was friendly and the service was fast. What I like is there is a variety for the carnivores to the vegans. We were somewhere in between. New Normal Rules: - Mask required when entering the restaurant to use the restroom. - Staff is wearing PPE (face shields!) when serving. - Outdoor seating on a first-come, first-serve basis. fred 62 is cute! if you're in the area, walking around, maybe you've just watched a movie at los feliz 3, this is a solid place to go. i wouldn't go out of my way to eat here because the food is pretty mediocre. however, they have a bevy of vegetarian/vegan options and solid diner food. you can't really go wrong with the classic pancakes/bacon/eggs. it is expensive, so weigh your willingness to have a so-so meal in a cool retro place with staff that is friendly, fast, and knowledgeable. read more

My favorite diner ever. For the past 25 years I have been lucky enough to enjoy very late night and early pre dawn meals at Freds and they have always been delicious. The past weekend it was in Los Angeles for a funeral and at the end of a very long day of driving a shuttle for said service. I knew the only place that would be open and offer me what I wanted was Fred 62. I was so grateful when I was able to walk up to the counter and take a seat. the lovely gentleman who took my order accommodated, all of my allergy needs and served me a perfectly made salad. No complications no hassles no judgment just good food good service well designed and clean establishment. read more

This diner is nice, I recommend it! The F62 smash burger was juicy and well cooked. My wife's steak dinner was also delicious, meat cooked just right. I also enjoyed the ambiance, made me feel like I was in the 1960s. Service was also good too even when it got super busy our server was checking in on us. Coming back! read more

Pbr tall boy in a gosh darn frozen glass, boy oh boy do I love that. The mozzarella sticks were great. It was like fire works in my mouth when I have the shoe strings fries. I want to preface this by saying I've been coming to this place regularly for over 16 years. I've had some amazing times here. But I went here last night, solo before a screening. I was told I could sit at the counter. I literally just wanted soup and some water, soda water maybe. I watched multiple men who worked there just stare at me and not acknowledge me at all. One woman server kept glaring at me when I'd smile. I put my menu away and patiently waited for about 15 minutes. I genuinely thought for a second that I died and was a ghost. As a former server, I would never ignore a woman dining by herself late at night for that long and I would at the very least give her a cup of water. I'm a social worker and was just trying to have a nice night off. I'm never coming back, your food is overpriced, oversalted and your night staff are horrible people. read more

We stopped by Fred62 for breakfast after a hike at the Griffith Observatory. Understandably they were packed because it is Sunday. Before leaving my own feedback, I have to admit I read reviews saying people waited a lot longer than we did for their food but ours were out in a timely manner. So the restaurant is self-seating which is nice, only issue with this is that the servers aren't necessarily on top of things as often as it would be recommended. Nevertheless, we received amazing service and the food was delicious and the wait wasn't long at all. The menu is huge and there is definitely options for adults, children, and anyone who lives a plant-based diet also. We got there in time for lunch but ordered breakfast anyway haha. We got an order of scrambled eggs and fruit, one of their breakfast burritos, and their hot cheese balls. We came in starving and left full and satisfied Jessie was our server and she did an amazing job! Thank you for completing our day:) I definitely would recommend this place to friends and family. The parking is a bit of an issue but not really. If you don't want to pay for parking, street parking is an option around the block, there is also a paid lot on the opposite side of the street. read more

Loved it!! This place is adorable first of all but delicious second of all! I got the chicken Caesar salad wrap and it was so yummy. I do wish it had a bit more of a crunch but really good. The sweet potato fries are the perfect fry with their delicious ranch. Their regular fries are a shoestring style, small and crispy. We also had the mocha milkshake and omg it was the perfect shake. Not too heavy and really classic. Vermont Ave is super cute too and we walked around after we ate. Great vibes, great food and well-priced! read more

Checked this place out last night after catching a show at the Greek. This was the first day of the new mandates that requires proof of vaccination to sit inside of the restaurant. My partner and I were met with friendly staff that asked to see our vaccination cards upon entry. The process was quick and easy and I hope that no one gives them a hard time for asking in the future. If you dont have your card or aren't vaccinated I saw plenty of outdoor seating available to patrons. We sat in a nice cozy and spacious booth and enjoyed some late night eats. We shared a drool worthy cookies and cream handmade milk shake, a burger and a tuna melt. The portions were large, the prices were affordable and most of all delicious. Today, we had the chance to experience a real American diner spot! FRED62, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary! Congratulations The food tasted really good! This time, we went for the "Reasons to be Cheerful Chicken Sandwich" and "Fred's LA Burger," and we can recommend trying both. As sides, we chose the "Mac'n Cheese and fries." To finish off in the best way, we were recommended to try the famous milkshake from the menu, the "Oreo milkshake" and it definitely deserves a 10/10 The service was also very good, with the owner actively involved in the restaurant, greeting and welcoming guests. This is a place I came to early on in my move to LA, Dec 2015. It has a great diner vibe and I'm surprised by some of the reviews saying the food isn't as good as it was. The No Animal Burger I had last night with a vegan strawberry shake was Delicious & couldn't have been fresher or more perfectly executed. 5 stars to chef. They lose one point because $12.50 for a shake?! Even if it is vegan ice creme is 'taking the piss' as we say in UK. Do they think vegans are all rich or stupid? They aren't! If they reprice it to $10 I will give them all the stars. PS Fred reached out to me and explained why, even at this price, they have a smaller mark-up than cow juice ones.. The vibe inside was very clean and modern, making a comfy atmosphere in the daytime. I got the hot soy milk, the Dan Bing (egg crepe), and the daikon rice cakes. The hot soy milk was fine, it came in a mug (I was expecting a bowl). It also doesn't have the strong soy milk flavor I like. The daikon rice cakes were soft and crispy, and came with a soy sauce and spicy sauce. The Dan Bing was the highlight of the meal! The skin was freshly made, the texture was perfect, and it had a good amount of toppings. It was also quite nice for its price. It reminds me of the Dan Bing I ate back in Taiwan. Definitely give this place a shot to try out some Taiwanese breakfast!

Dear Wait Staff at Fred 62: I'm writing to express my deepest sympathy to you. Why? Because you are good people and you want to serve food to your customers and thus earn tips, but you are forced to work in tandem with the slowest cooks in the history of cuisine. I have friends who are fermenting three-month-peppers in their basements and some of their creations will see the light of day before some of your menu items. I've tried to make sense of how slow the cooks are -- I just waited fifteen minutes for a single pancake in a restaurant with only one other customer in it -- and these are the only hypotheses I've been able to come up with about those fellows in the back: 1) They're zombies. (This would actually explain a lot. It may be the simple answer.) 2) They are engaged in a number of resentful class wars with both the customers and you, the wait staff, wars they know they can never win. Their slowness is a form of complaint and protest. 3) They can't read. So every time an order is placed, they have to go through the shame of finding someone they don't work with, someone down the block, maybe, or in San Bernardino, to read them the ticket. Then they go back and really try their best, but the time is already lost. This is the saddest answer, and maybe the truest. I don't know. 4) Pancakes are harder to make than I think. (Probably not.) 5) Fred 62 exists in a vortex where time bends and stretches to infinite lengths. 6) The cooks are all escaped convicts who are worried that if they attract too much attention by doing their jobs well, they'll be captured and put away for life, again. 7) They are performance artists and this is an installation. 8) They are genuine devotees of the "slow food" movement, but they have deeply misunderstood the concept. 9) They think I killed their cat with my car and this is their revenge. (I didn't.) 10) Who the %^&^ knows? Anyway, I really feel for you, Wait Staff, because there are no other cooks looking for work, no good people out there who need jobs, so you have to struggle along with these mysterious geniuses/zombies/illiterates/pancake strugglers, disappointing everyone you come in contact with, through no fault of your own. i don't know where to start. before i begin, i must say there is a server there named bill who is always friendly and always gives tremendous service. that having been said, i have had countless less than stellar experiences at ol' fred's. why do i keep going there, you ask? because unfortunately, my wife has an undying love for their balsamic vinegarette dressing, "no animal" burger, and "bang bang" noodle dish. i keep hoping that the service, food, and overall feel will change. list of shitty things that have happened on different occasions...in no particular order: 1. we are vegetarians. MORE THAN ONCE we have found CHICKEN in our "vegetarian" lemongrass broth based "bang bang" noodle bowl. that's just not cool. 2. a friend of ours ordered a basic 2 eggs with hashbrowns and toast. when she received it, she said her eggs tasted really weird...like soap. so i took a bite and sure enough...she was eating soapy eggs. i think that someone must have put soap in the pan to wash it...but instead decided to cook eggs in it?!?!? ugh. so nasty. then, when she tried to return it, our server gave her a hard time for having had a few bites... he eventually did return it but only after we all chimed in that it was a ridiculous notion for him to expect her to not only keep and eat that food but to pay for it as well. what an asshole. 3. they do not wash their lettuce. sooo many times i have had "sandy" salads. you know....like when you go to the beach and get all set up and eat a sandwich... and there's inevitably a few grains of sand in your sandwich...but it's okay because you're at the beach? yeah.... not so cool when it's in your salad because the people who work here are too lazy to rinse the lettuce. i could go on and on but i will spare you. i know i kind of deserve the shit i get because i continue to patronize this establishment...but i will say this. i do NOT recommend Fred 62. no matter how late it is. go to ihop. read more

Let me start off by writing distribute by saying I am a lifelong silverlake president of over 30 years. I went to mission terrain elementary School King Middle School and John Marshall high. The way I was treated by the staff here last night was less than an animal gets treated in jail. I walked in around 11:16 I placed an order for brisket sandwich and I bought a beer at the bar as I waited for my food. Over 30 minutes past and I noticed a bag that has been sitting at the counter since 5 minutes of my arrival the service snatched up the bag and presented it to me I checked the temperature and I told her this was ice cold and I asked her why did she take over 30 minutes to present my food while I was standing there the whole time she smirked and laugh instead of I have a problem that I should go somewhere else. Being the only African-American and establishment at the time really leads me to believe that they do not cater to us and furthermore I really do believe I was discriminated against. I left a really good tip before the meal was even started so I know that the issue I would love for the manager or the owner of the establishment to personally get back to me on this matter or I really do believe that you don't like my kind and really don't serve us and you trained your staff to do so as well.After the response I got from the GM I'll be never visiting this place ever again.Like I said I've been in silver lake for over 30 years I watched places come and go and I'll be the first one laughing when I see a for rent sign on your door in about a years time. read more

There's nothing overly awesome about Fred 62. There. The truth has been said. Like with other diners I've experienced, they only prove their worth when everything else is closed after 10-11 at night... and then Fred 62 shines. Well, not really. Okay, so you get in and it's crowded. Good luck finding a seat, let alone a booth. It's suffocated with hipsters and scenesters and best of all, they're rude and competitive for previously-mentioned hard to find seats. And it's basically first-shove, first-serve because no one in this fucking establishment knows how to seat anyone. Outside it's a different story. It's cold, but there are seats a-plenty. So we sit down and then it's this constant worry, "Do they even know we're out here?" So I had to go in and tell them twice before we got service... and even then the guy in charge - who I assume was the manager because he was around his forties - rolled his eyes. Wow. Customer SERVIIIIICEEE! When we finally got our food, it was after a while. And then it got cold quick. But we were starving so we didn't care. It wasn't worth the money we paid though - taste wise. But the waitress was at least nice. If she had been negative in the slight, that would've been the cherry on top of a perfect fucking evening. She even sent my compliments to the chef for the soup I got (okay, yeah, it wasn't that great, but come on! I was starving!) Ehh, it might be an experience since the waitresses are dressed rather edgy and hot... like cosmetic school rejects or something - but I won't come back here ever again. read more

I love, love, LOVE Fred 62's--but only under certain conditions. I prefer to go at night with a small party (like, 2 people) and sit outside. When the weather's nice it gives you a lot more elbow room, allows smoking (if you're into that), and generally provides a bit more secluded restaurant experience. I will say this, the service is generally a bit slow & forgetful. Probably not a good place to eat for those of you that require constant server attention. I've tried multiple items off their menu but consistently find myself drawn to their breakfast foods. The Bearded Mr. Frenchy is nothing short of amazing, sometimes I'll add on an order of hashbrowns and their homemade sausage patty if I really got my groove on during the evening. I don't think you can go wrong with anything off their breakfast menu. Tried one of their milkshakes but I can't say I was a big fan. Something was just off about the milk to ice cream ratio. They have a nice hot tea selection, a welcome change from being offered crappy plain Lipton brand at most diners. Plus the bags are shaped like pyramids! I never knew my teabag would be the fanciest part of my meal. (There's a bad joke in there somewhere...) I'm seeing a lot of complaints about the parking but get real, this is Los Angeles and parking sucks just about everywhere. For a good set of pancakes at 2am, I'm sure you could use the exercise that extra couple of blocks will give you. read more

Absolutely the most poser-esque place in the area besides Millie's except Millie's is NOT TRYING TO BE COOL...they just are. Imagine, 6, yes 6 guys standing around in a corner, all Mexican guys doing nothing but yakking it up at the counter at the top of their lungs....one of which wearing a shirt provided by establishment that reads, "Lesbians Eat Out", the other guy has one that reads, "Rehab Is For Quitters", another, "Got Beer" and another, "Just The Tip". Yes, nifty I suppose....if you're not a Lesbian and you didn't go to rehab and ya don't mind their mindless pow wow in the corner that supersedes all other conversations....even the patrons. Slapping each other on the back, saying "F That Brother" and "Sh#t ya man...did you see what he was wearing? Hahahahaaa...". Paid $15 w/o tax or tip for some horrible Deli noodle soup shrimp thing that tasted like it was made in the back alley with a bunsen burner that you use while camping. Seriously, if u r a poser and like to show off your fancy new tattoo, spend your $ elsewhere that at least doesn't rape you with poor service, poor food, and subject you to 6 guys wearing classless shirts that, in some way, are trying to be "cool" and that love to have a good old weenie rub in the corner at the expense of diners trying to relax. Whimpy Burger - the 6oz version of the Juicy Lucy....pretty freakin' good burger French Fries - eh...nothing special Hash Browns - possibly the best ever? So buttery yet crispy. Good thing I'm finally working out again. Mocha Milkshake - not too sweet or too thick...possibly perfect also? But damn......the service sucks. I'm learning 24 hour joints probably don't care about providing good service because they know your choices are limited. Our waitress had Tourette's. Forgot the Iced Tea twice and the Ranch once...walked by us and shouted "Iced Tea & Ranch". Had to wait 30 minutes where we were then squeezed into a booth made for 2. (They didn't tell us how long the wait would be and they made us wait outside. Thank goodness for the heaters outside.) By the end of our meal, I was quite tired & cranky knowing I was 30 minutes from home and needed to be at work in less than 6 hours. I recently had the pleasure of experiencing Fred62, and I couldn't be more impressed! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and full of character. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Alex was our waitress and she was INCREDIBLY NICE, ATTENTIVE, & on point with my order! Ask for her!! The food was absolutely outstanding--each dish was expertly prepared, fresh, and full of flavor. I highly recommend their signature dishes on the brunch menu, which blend unique ingredients in ways that you don't often find elsewhere. The portions were generous, and every bite was a delight. If you're in the area and looking for a memorable dining experience, Fred62 is a must-visit. I will definitely be returning and can confidently give it a five-star rating. Would I come back to this place ? absolutely NOT !!! Went to this restaurant for the first time this past father's day to have a nice time with a friend and it was a total disaster. I ordered on of their burger (can't recall the name) and it was tasteless ! We both also had the house lemonade and it was not a good choice, if I must say. They put tons of lettuce into my burger just to make it look big, my friend had one of their sandwiches & they put the tomato's cord, I mean who does that ! They waiter was nice enough to come and ask us who our food was and when we were going to start telling him about our issues with the food he just simply walked away. Thank you so much David ! Thought i was going to love the place so that i could go with my friends more often but that was not the case :( read more

Five words- Mac Daddy and Cheese Balls. Yummy yummy yummy. Who wouldn't like fried mac and cheese? Well that is just a small sample of the delicious things that Fred 62 has to offer. Delicious breakfast dishes, I personally love the Bearded Mr. Frenchy which is crunchy french toast. Great noodle bowls, sandwiches, salads and specialties. Their desserts are great, I have a thing for the apple punk tarts. This is one of my all time favorite late night dining restaurants in LA. The prices, while odd are actually pretty reasonable, the service is pretty good, and though there is often a wait for a table, they usually try their best to get you in ASAP. If you want some comfort food that thinks out of the box, come to Fred 62, you will be happily satisfied. read more

By far one of my favorite dessert diners that's open during twilight hours. Located near the Observatory this place is usually popping even at midnight hours. It is self seating and wait time can be a little strenuous during dinner hours, but worth it. The coolest area and favorite spot to sit is literally a hidden area (curtains and all) in the left front portion of the cafe. It is a private little corner where seating requires individuals to sit Indian style. The menu is overwhelming to look at so I'll give you some of my favorite dishes... I always get the Bossa Nova Waffle Sundae (5/5) when I'm there. I also like getting the Bearded Mr. Frenchy (4/5), the Poorest Boy Sandwich (4/5), Mac Daddy & Cheese (4.5/5), and the Thai Cobb Salad (4.5/5). read more

Dangerously tasty.....& I don't even like fried food or hipsters. It's a local hot-spot placed perfectly in the trendy Los Feliz neighborhood! One of the residents introduced me and I've been back 2-3 times since. It's a classic diner environment: be prepared to sit at a sticky table. I became a fan of the Ceasar CA salad on day 1. I still dream of the fried yucca croutons with the cotija cheese morsels. They combination had me "feeling some type of way........" I wouldn't say its a spot "fitness fanatics" or "dieters" go nuts for, but there are plenty of Vegan, gluten free, and vegetarian options. I definitely DO NOT eat at this place regularly, but I do love indulging in something unhealthy occasionally. Try it! read more

Not against those new 'happy' changes but guess, sometimes it's wiser to stick to your main guns. Fred 62 has slashed down its quality of food big time now... ah, from good to bad! I used to love hogging their meals at odd hours but some recent menu changes have spoiled the taste for me without a doubt. Fried mac and cheese balls so don't taste good now. Ah I don't really know if their chef's been swapped or their ingredients, but yeah the food doesn't taste appetizing any longer. So yeah, I am disappointed with Fred 62, like really disappointed. And of course (this one goes without saying), their waiting time. It kills whatever little bit is still remaining under the roof. Sigh, give it a miss! read more

I want to love this place.... Alice's Egg Sandwich is a good breakfast staple, and the Apple Punk Tart can be good depending on who makes it... The red velvet cake is not bad, either. I wanted so badly to like the Mac Daddy and Cheese Balls, but they seemed more like a grease bomb than deep fried mac and cheese. The breakfast foods like waffles etc taste sort of fake and preserved and generally lacking any freshness. Don't bother with this place on the weekends, unless you want to be treated rudely and told to stand outside until they have a table for you. It doesn't matter to them that it's raining, or if it's 100 degrees outside. The rest of the week, the service is decent. read more

I was kind of shocked to see all the good reviews for this place. The service was terrible, our waitress was very stuck up and rude, the food was overpriced, and the place was slamfull of hipsters and yuppies. The worst thing about it was the waitress. We left her a 5 dollar tip(trust me, not my idea) even though the service was awful. And she had the nerve to follow us outside and tell us that 5 dollars wasn't 15% and that we should tip her several dollars more. I have never in my life had a waitress demand a higher tip. I will never go to this snobinfested trendspot again. But if you are of the snooty, horn rhimmed glasses wearing, vegan hipster type, you'll love it. read more

come here for the aesthetic of the diner, leave because a racist, bewilderingly rude, (and balding) waiter's shift is ending.....? (haha which it wasn't, we stayed awhile to get directions and happened to see through the window that he was still working....of course) when i say this place is racist, i mean it's racist. they have a freaking fried chicken sandwich named 'poorest boy' for gods sake. and not a poc in sight when i walked in; i should've just turned around that second. so! don't waste your time. there are plenty of better diners open late in LA, like 101 coffee shop for example, with far better food (even if they served you cold dirt). read more

This is a great late night spot, there's plenty of stuff on the menu to choose from, so any of your cravings will be satisfied. I've been ordering the Juicy Lucy burger with a side of onion rings for years. It never disappoints! Best onion rings, hands down. Not even Mastro's in Beverly Hills can come close. Now that I live on the Westside I don't get over to Los Feliz that often, but when I do, I always stop at Fred 62. I hear their milkshakes are amazing. I always plan on ordering one, but after I eat my huge burger and onion rings, I'm too full. Very yummy. Will definitely seek this place out when in the neighborhood. read more

fred 62=3.5 stars. i give the food three stars. it was good but nothing too special. they have a good selection (sloppy joes to chicken waldorf to breakfast to ice cream shake to hot dogs to beer). I really liked their fredstone benedict which uses tomatoes instead of the english muffin and crumbled applewood bacon for the canadian bacon. yum. loved the sloppy joe, but who could really mess that up? i would add a half of a star for the fact that they serve breakfast 24/7. and they're open for 24 hours. and there's beer. a perfect for a quick stop at 11am, 6p, or 2am. read more

I just can't understand this place. Are the servers supposed to be rude as a gimmick or are they just rude? I do like the big menu. My sister and I ordered the nachos which were really tasty but there wasn't very many chips so we had to order more to eat all the toppings. I guess that's better than a ton of chips with nothing on it but seemed strange to us. The club was great and not your standard three layers of sourdough bread. I do like most of the food I've tried here. I could like this place more if the service wasn't as slow and if it felt a little cleaner. read more

I have been three times this week just to make sure this review was fair. First of all this place is nicely designed, wonderfully open 24 hours, decent music, good lighting, good vibe, tolerable food but over and over the service is just so slow and almost non-existent. The busboys are good but the waiters and waitresses just literally ignore you or are slow as to be maddening. It's just too bad there is not an owner or manager running this place efficiently and like a top, it could be great. It's not because of the wait staff, does anyone else agree? read more
