Monday and Tuesday early mornings, Fred Meyer has an end-aisle display of weekend-old bakery goodies for half off. Incredible bargains, delicious pastries. Examples: Four full-sized muffins, $2.50. Poppyseed and Raisin Bran are fantastic. Four medium-large cinnamon rolls, $3.59 LOADED with icing. Half pies, $4.59; apple, pecan. Croissants, breads, what have you. It's a great deal. However, there is still the issue with the bags. I have noticed QFC at least bringing back handles on their paper bags, but not at this Fred Meyer. Yet. I emailed Mike Johnson head of Kroger about this, but--I only expect a response in the form of bags with handles. Safeway still uses plastic bags with handles, and they're not as good as Kroger, Fred Meyer. So why won't they keep up? Obviously, it's not a state mandate, otherwise nobody could get plastic bags anywhere. Bread. Pastries. Beans. Chips. Trash liners. Cereals. Bagels. Rice. Potatoes. Produce. Salad. Pasta. Over half the items in the stores use plastic bags, so why should the carry-out bags be any difference? Won't make a dent. I just bring in my Safeway plastic bags when I go to Fred Meyer. It's very rare to have such an immediate flip in service in one visit between 2 deli associates. First I'd like to address the courtesy clerks hanging out outside, not gathering cars, the cashier's inside with no help to bag while they're outside checking their phones and socializing. The shoes, white short sleeve button up shirt with a blue tie and navy blue or black slacks to match! I was a courtesy clerk at 16 when there was etiquette, training and most definitely strict representation of the store's brand! No matter who you asked from the bagger to the manager, if they worked there, they knew where literally everything was located and if something was out of stock! Nowadays I get a lot of confused looks or "I don't know" and they walk off without attempting to assist! Nowadays you're lucky if you can find 1 committed, hard-working courtesy clerk at any store! To...I digress, let's get it! I initially ordered their 4 piece for $5 and a 1/2 lb of JoJo's. The 1st associate was very welcoming, sincere and thoughtful when picking out the 4 pieces. She'd just saved me a coupon and a trip to kfc for a $5 2 piece meal! As I was leaving there was a man at the door asking for change for food, I searched my pockets and found nothing so I said that I had nothing, he thanked me anyway. I went to my truck to see if I had any change there, I didn't so I went and gave the man my 4 piece and JoJo's and went back inside and ordered another for myself...this was the other associate. I ordered the same thing and she gathered it but not taking time to check the food for what's freshest and what's not like the previous associate had done. I came home and immediately regretted not saying anything; over 1/2 the jojo's were hard and stale! The pieces of chicken she choose weren't any better! Some weren't even hot, but they're all sitting in the warmer together so how is that?! It's the end of the day, I get it. It's a busy mother's Day, I get it. I don't know if I have a sign on my forehead that says that I'm a big problem or anything like that but I definitely wasn't able to find anyone in the store who could assist me with some of the smallest things. For one, where would you have junior sized t shirts for girls? Another thing, where can I find bathing suits, swim accessories and other essential toiletry items? I can't say that I was able to really shop here. I was looking for help all over. I couldn't find anyone. I also went to the pumps to try and get some gas but there was a long line and lots of their pumps were broken. That just kinda summed up everything about that waste of time trip there. read more

This is a really great central located location. It's always busy. The parking lot is huge but always busy. I'm extra happy that they have a gas station at this location because a lot of the Fred Meyer's don't have them, but I would definitely suggest this place but be aware it is located in a higher crime rate part of town. read more

Stopped by this Fred Meyer today to do some weekly shopping. It's fairly conveniently located off of First Avenue in Burien. Giant sign. Easy to find. Includes gas station. A bit busy in terms of the parking lot. Inside is spacious and offers multiple grocery and household items, also clothes and jewelry, like other Fred Meyers. They've added a bit of security (they check receipts and someone at the door says hello and goodbye) since I was last here. I am not in love with the layout - I don't like the two sets of aisles thing where you can't see everything that's in each aisle as you go by - I've never quite figured out how to properly navigate that type of set up and I always forget things I needed. read more

Why in the world would they have a security guard with a gun? Who is he going to shoot, a shoplifter? Having a security guard, who couldn't make it on to the police force for some reason, carrying a gun that he probably doesn't know how to use makes me feel very unsafe. I have had parking lot road rage at this Burien location more times than i can count. The lot is shared between Fred Meyer and a dozen other businesses. The clientele can be sketchy. There is a checker for receipts who either stops me to scribble on my receipt without reviewing items in my cart or is texting - no consistency or purpose. Look, this is honestly the best store Burien has. I am thankful that Fred Meyer has been here serving our community for so long, but my visit today was unacceptable. I came to enjoy a chicken tender meal and it took 30 minutes to get my food, pay, and use your disgusting restroom (see attached photos). There was pee all over the floors! By the time I got the Starbucks and sat down with my drink and food, I realized that the Fred Meyer WiFi didn't work and this Starbucks location does not have internet! I will revise this review once I see some positive changes. I hope to see improvements in 2018 from Burien Fred Meyer. The hood deserves better. read more

Drove 35 minutes to buy a Nintendo Switch only to be told the electronics employees didn't show up to work today and didn't have the keys to access anything. DO NOT USE THIS PHARMACY! 1. My Dr's office called in a script but they made me wait an hour before telling me they didn't have it. When the Dr's office called back they made HIM wait an hour before they found it. THey were too incompetent to write my birthdate correctly.. So to recap: I stood there for an hour with all the data and they insisted it wasnt there because they inverted 2 digits. No one even checked to see if it arrived until I was there 30 minutes, then someone got back from break and checked voice mail. 2. THey were the only ones with Covid vaccination appointments available so I went back. THey never uploaded me to the Washington database as they were supposed to. When my Drs office called again (same guy) they promised to fax proof but of course did not. I am taking care of this myself now. NOPE. They have twice the people working here that WalMart does, yet WalMart can do their job! I'm staying there. read more

This store is nice because they have almost everything for a reasonable price. What I really dislike is the rampant theft and the store response. Multiple times I have seen people take anything they want and just walk out the back emergency exit. There is no security back there or anyone to discourage this. The alarm will sound and eventually a staff will come over and reset it. Okay, that's fine, not my business. But then you go through the check stands pay for your things, and someone is standing at the door to check your receipt and that you paid for everything. It is ridiculous to completely ignore the actual problem while treating your paying customers like they are thieves. Went there to collect phone order. Almost half the stuff we ordered wasn't in stock and was substituted with more expensive versions of the shit we didn't want. The guy who brought the stuff out to us wasn't wearing his mask properly while standing 3 feet from my wife. He had his nose out the entire time he loaded our goods and talked to us. The parking lot is a mess (be prepared to get cut off and then probably flipped off for taking your right-of-way) and the prices could be better, but they are more concerned with profits than customers. The fact that they recently increased their prices at the pump while the price per gallon has been dropping is pretty suspect. Inside, customer service is non-existent. read more

Best Fred Myer around. Spacious isles helpful staff and something is always on sale. They have a great deli, meat and seafood section also. Only down side is when they are stocking shelves they seems not to care about blocking isles and leaving boxes scattered on the floor....oh and the thieves running out with merchandise all the time. read more

The upside to this Fred Meyer is that when other stores don't have things in stock, this one usually does. This was a huge plus when there were the huge runs on paper products early in the pandemic. However, their staff are inconsistently masked. Many have theirs under the nose. The reps who stock for certain companies are often the worst offenders, not wearing masks at all. One time I spotted a manager walking into the store without a mask. I asked the person why they weren't masked and they just smiled and kept walking through the store. The bathrooms are pretty consistently disgusting. I am not sure this is their fault, short of locking them and requiring a code, there isn't much they can do. I have seen more than a few people openly carrying firearms at this store. Mainly in the parking lot, but a couple inside as well. My favorite was when two young men were hanging out outside in the parking lot and one showed the other his AK that he had in his trunk. You could tell he had just bought it and was proud of his new acquisition. My love hate relationship with Burien Fred Meyer goes back to 1986 when I first started working in Burien. Once again, signage under the item was misaligned / misplaced, - making it look like the wrong item was actually on sale. Got stuck buying Ben & Jerry's ice cream which rang at the regular price. Only discovered this when going over my receipt (much later) at home. Another major annoyance: After bringing my own bags (once again), the young lady bagging only used ONE of the bags. I had all the bags inside one bag. The others she left in the bottom and proceeded to bag all the items on top in the ONE bag instead of taking the others out and using them. Really, you have to ask what do people use for brains? Moreover, this was an insulted bag, - meant for meat and frozen foods. Instead of using it for such, she fills it with eight bottles of Propel water with other NONPERISHABLE items on top. Meat and ice cream were placed in paper bags which I WAS CHARGED FOR EVEN THOUGH I HAD BROUGHT PLENTY OF RECYCLED ONES FROM HOME. I could not see HOW she was bagging from my vantage point, or obviously I would have said something during the process. When I noticed that my insulted bag was filled with Propel water, I did mention that insulted bags are meant for frozen / cold foods. (They don't know this?) It didn't seem to register. She wished me a "nice day". Another reason to LOVE WINCO'S where I can bag my own! read more

This has been my regular store for over fifteen years and up until now it's been a great place to shop. But now, I cannot go into that store. The last two times I went -- last Wednesday and Friday -- it was like a zoo in there. Many people in there not wearing masks, bumping into each other and just not practicing safe distancing. The employees were no different. One guy wasn't wearing a mask at all, others were wearing them on their chin. When I found a 'manager' wearing a red vest, she said, "what can I do? They won't listen to us" Well, I'll tell you what I can do -- NOT SHOP THERE. They aren't following the state guidelines, and they refuse to enforce even the basics. The store is over-packed, and a dangerous place to be. Now that it is considered a 'hot spot' for COVID. I am not surprised. This particular Fred Meyer doesn't seem to care that they are infecting people. read more

April 27, 2020: I placed my bags on the conveyer, then my purchases. The gentleman ahead of me paid with cash straight from his wallet, and then from a handful of coins dug from his pocket which he held out and asked the cashier to choose from. She had no protective clothing, mask or gloves. When she turned to check me out she informed me that employees are not allowed to touch customer's bags so I agreed to bag my own. She then picked up my bags and moved them to the bagging area and proceeded to touch every item of mine. Fred Meyer has failed potentially catastrophically, to educate its employees in the basics of sanitation and hygeine, and significantly, to provide for the safety of the employees themselves. This is not my first encounter of this sort. Previously, a cashier sneezed while checking out and only turned her head and then continued checking. Fortunately in both cases I was gloved and masked and wiped down everything after reaching my car. I will think twice before shopping at Freddy's from now on. read more

I don't like the layout of this store I always feel like I'm walking back and forth from each end to find what I need. Employees range from friendly asking if you need help, to not even greeting you. I only go to this location since it's convenient, the Target is out of the way but is laid out a lot nicer than Fred Meyer is. read more
