I was traveling through on my way to another state when I decided to stop at Freddy's for a bite to eat. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by one of the sweetest people I've ever met--her name was Mariah. Great customer service can be hard to find these days, so it was refreshing to meet someone who genuinely made conversation and welcomed customers with such a pleasant attitude. She took my order, but unfortunately, it ended up being wrong. At the time, I was exhausted from traveling with four kids and became very upset. I went to the counter and started making a scene, which was definitely out of line on my part. As I was expressing my frustration, my husband pointed out that he had actually ordered my food incorrectly. The mistake wasn't Freddy's fault at all--it was ours. I immediately apologized, and despite the way I had acted, Mariah handled the situation with incredible professionalism and kindness. She remained calm, courteous, and understanding throughout the entire interaction. By the end, we were laughing and joking together, and everything worked out perfectly. The burgers at Freddy's are so good. They serve shoestring fries which is another plus. I noticed today that they have two new (or maybe i just didn't notice before?) fry sauces. In addition to their regular fry sauce, there is a smokey fry sauce and a jalapeno fry sauce. They serve frozen custard, and several people today were ordering it. I don't like frozen custard, so I can't speak about it, but everyone else seems to love it. The decor here is super cute--red and white kind of retro looking. Friendly service. Clean dining room. Yummy food. Came here and my son wanted to eat inside and since I rarely eat inside and it was empty I figured why not. The people at the counter were friendly, the tables were wiped clean and my son very much enjoyed his burger and fries (and trying the new tater tots). They did forget to make his dirt and worms dessert and when I asked at the counter what happened, the guy said oops let me make it right away, and then he proceeded to also not make it, so we asked a third time and that time, they did make it. It was the first time I have ever had an item forgotten, then had someone been like oops, then have it forgotten again. There was a mix-up with my order -- my spicy chicken came with pickles even though I asked for none, and I accidentally didn't get fries with the meals. I called and came back, and Ryan and James were extremely helpful. They didn't hesitate to make things right. They remade my entire order, and even gave me a free meal along with a coupon for next time. Customer service like that is rare. They have shoestring fries and the burgers are super skinny. Different. Good. This location was very quiet at lunch on a Friday. Weird. The food was good. Ok so I'm a burger n fries guy. Plus it's a veteran owned. This burger is so juicy, crispy, cheese so creamy, flavor is quality. Fresh. Fries are shoestring but unique with a dynamite fry sauce. I am not saying this is the best burger around but it would definitely be on the podium when looking for a "California style" cheese burger. It's not very often I give five stars to a fast food place but I have liked this Freddy's ever since the first time I came in. There steak burgers are delicious. Yes, the burgers are thin but they are crispy and delicious. Just make sure you get a double or triple so you can get the full benefit of the meat flavor. I often get a kid's meal because the portion is so big and the price is lower. I love their shoestring fries as well. I don't usually get them if I get a double burger though because it's just too much food. As much as I love their custard I often don't even have room for any so sometimes I just have to come in for a small Burger and a dish of chocolate custard. Chocolate is my favorite at this location. This review may just be a collection of tips, but suffice it to say that I am a fan. 1. Get a double burger. They're thin and work much better in pairs. 2. Save room for dessert. The custard is tasty 3. The fries are of the "shoestring" variety (thin) and are great with their fry sauce (in the pump machine by the soft drinks AND/OR with a bit of "Freddy's Seasoning," a seasoned salt that you can get at the front counter. My kids like the chicken strips, but I have decided that the "California Burger" is my favorite. Oh, unlike In-n-Out Burger, you can get your burger with BACON on it at Freddy's. Recommend to dine in instead of drive-thu. Normally, I dine in because I like the vibe here but I was on a time crunch so I went to drive-thru this time and also because there was a long line at in-n-out. Anyways, I decided to try the cheese curds which was soggy and we didn't get sauces for it even though it was written on the receipt. I even asked to make sure sauces were in there before I drove away. As for my burger, clearly i asked for no onions but look at the wholesome onion that I got. That didn't bothered me much as the sauces because the cheese curds were not good by themselves and I felt like I wasted $4 for a bunch of soggy cheese cubes. Recommending Freddy's double original and Double California Style. The double original stays together better than the double California.
