This Freebirds location is seriously top tier. The store is always clean, organized, and welcoming, the line moves fast, and everything tastes fresh. The manager on shift tonight was outstanding--you can tell they truly care about how the place is run and about the customer experience. We haven't been to Freebirds in years and thought we would go for dinner tonight. The employees acted as if they would rather be anywhere else than there. No smiles. No greeting and moved at a snails pace. I ordered a large iced tea. I took my cup to the drink station and there was no ice and no tea. Freebirds lied to me and my mom who do medi weight loss. If you're on this plan DO NOT GET THE HERO BURRITO!!!!!!! DO NOT GET IT!!!! ITS 36 CARBS! IT ADVERTISES FOR 2 NET CARBS, but it has way more. The wrap only has 16 grams of fiber. So it would only be 20 net carbs which is still a LOT for what they make it seem. Highly disappointed in what was provided to me. My girlfriend and I noticed there was BOGO for March Madness. We decided to make an order and both got monster burritos. The employee who prepared our burritos was in a bad mood, and he did not fill up our burritos fully. It was pretty much the same amount of food as a regular burrito but in a larger tortilla leaving space for more food. I also paid extra for sour cream and sour cream was not in my burrito. Not as good as it used to be. I'm not sure why they changed the chicken, but it definitely is not as seasoned and as flavorful as it used to be. Today was my first time eating freebirds in almost a year. I ordered the chicken nachos on April 6, 2025 and the texture of the chicken was very cheap and chewy and all I could taste was garlic, no other type of seasoning. It didn't have the seasoned & grilled chicken taste like I'm used to. The chips have also changed. Before their chips tasted more fresh and homemade. Now the chips taste and have the cheap texture of a bag of Tostitos. The portion size of the meat and toppings was good, but the taste was very subpar. I've been here twice the last couple of months and both times have been horrible. Let's backtrack - I use to live in Denton and got food poisoning from the location there a couple years ago. Now this location, our visit tonight will be the reason we never return. We walk in and it looks like a bomb went off. Trash everywhere, the food line was a disaster, the workers were angry. My husband and I both got a monster bowl (which at the end was not worth the $3 extra) so we would have leftovers tomorrow. All the meat bowls were pretty much empty but the chicken was refilled as we were standing there, which is what I got. My husband got steak and got the little crumbs left in the bowl. They replaced it when the whole thing was empty. During the hole ordeal, the workers were just bickering at each other the whole time. We asked for a side of queso and the girl rolled her eyes at us, and again when we asked for a bag of chips. All in all we get home and can't even eat our food. My chicken tasted like stale rubber, my husband steak was all fat and chewy. The health inspector needs to make a visit here. read more

Even though veggies seemed fresh, I feel like there was a lack of flavor. Chicken needs more grill or umami flavor. Perhaps Jazz up the rice flavor a bit more too (I got cilantro lime). I appreciated the sauces included. I enjoyed the ala cart cayenne tortilla. Price is very reasonable considering the size of my bowl. I prefer the flavor of the other popular burrito chain ("Ch....") Not thrilled with this location vs some of the other's. If you have never been to Freebird's, they are very often my favorite restaurant, and can be super vegan friendly! You stand in line, choose your type of tortilla (or bowl), and go down the line choosing your meat (or impossible meat), tons of fresh veggies, and queso & guac options. The 3 star rating is because it's quick, easy, vegan friendly, and can get you on the road in minutes. However, it's in desperate need of a spring cleaning the last time I was in there. It's true... depending on who's behind the counter, sometimes you get a fully stuffed burrito... sometimes you get Monster the same size as a Hy-bird (yes, I'm old, I'm still gonna call it that). The staff: I came in at 4pm, and there were a grand total of 3 people including myself eating in. I know my view of food is a bit disproportional being a bigger guy, but they hardly gave me any meat; if I were to weigh it out I'd be willing to bet good money that the meat portion was less than what they're supposed to give and honestly only enough to satisfy a small child. When I asked if I could have a bit more, she literally put 2-3 pieces of chicken on there. The rice was stale, the beans were dry, and the salad was incredibly soggy. 4pm or not, the food should not be so stale and old at this hour. Cleanliness: A health inspector would have a heyday here- dirty everywhere!! Tables were not kept up with, drink stations were sticky, and the condiment area was not clean either- who knows how old those to go condiments are. Avoid the hassle and find somewhere else to eat. Went in to eat at 8:45pm, yes I know they close at 9:30. Only protein options were the leftover chicken and leftover steak. Service was going good until we paid and left no tip. Cashier was pretty upset that we didn't leave a tip, made the comment of "can't even round up to $40." Then the employee in the back asked if she was talking sh** and she said yeah. It was a bad experience so I can't really tell you if I liked it. So we came here at like 6pm, there was nobody in line except for like a couple in front of us. For some reason there was like 3-4 workers at the food station but they were all preoccupied with other things. It took about 10-15 minutes until someone helped us. Apparently they were out of the steak and had a bunch of people waiting for it but all we wanted was the grilled chicken, so not sure what the hold up was. Then when it was our turn (2nd in line) they had to refill the rice and that was like another 3 minutes waiting for the guy to come back with the rice. Sent my daughter in tonight(my small child and I waited in the car) and they told her queso had to be Made and they would bring it to her in 4-6 minutes....30 MINUTES LATER after I flagged her down from outside, she had to go to the counter to ask for it and they said, "oh you didn't get that yet?" I love the food but this location was disappointing. It was during the lunch rush and it took almost 15 minutes to get through the line with only 2 people in front of us. I even heard the other customers behind me in line say once they were sitting down that standing in line took half their lunch break. It might have gone a little faster if one of the employees was not fanning herself of with a pan while serving food? I was also disappointed with the bathroom. The toliet paper roll was not in the holder but on the floor! As a women that is so disgusting. Why would i want to use that?! I must confess, we eat Freebird's about once a week. We have been eating a low-carb diet and found this to be one of the places that you can get the most and stay healthy. Of course, they have things like Monster Nachos that would be a no-no but we save that for a treat! I always make the burrito bowl and you pick which rice you prefer (I have none sometimes since am limiting carbs), pick type of beans, cheese, meat, veggies, and other toppings such as sour cream and guacamole. They also have queso that is super yummy drizzled over all the fixings! The only down side is some of their toppings are a little extra (I think like 0.89 each). That includes things like sour cream, the queso, and guacamole. OH ... I had been going for a while and we ended up going early for lunch one day. They were still putting out stuff when we walked in and I found out they have BACON!!! Make sure to add that to your burrito, bowl, tacos, or nachos! Its so delicious and everything truly is better with a little bacon! The line is a little frustrating because the person behind the counter walks you down the line and assembles your item however you ask. This causes people to skip in front of each other and get mixed up - so if you are with 2 or 3 people and are paying together it gets a little crowded trying to wait for everyone to get through the line. The restaurant is overall pretty clean. Sometimes when it is busy they tables are could use a wiping down between customers but never been a big issue - I just wipe it myself if needed. I say - good quick place for a cheap, big, healthy lunch or dinner. We will continue to go there often. Especially since kids eat free on certain days! ENJOY! read more
