I love Musashis as much as the next person, but there's something about Fremont Bowl that brings me back everytime. Their portions may look small but very filling! Pretty great rice to fish ratio. My favorite from them is their aburi / seared salmon - you can get a good ol chirashi bowl anywhere but a seared salmon bowl done that well is pretty hard to come by. My only not that the space is pretty limited and you can't sit until you've ordered. I also think it's unusual that they do not allow to go boxes for their food or allow the seared salmon for take out. Other sushi/poke/chirashi restaurants allow for it but oddly enough Fremont Bowl does not. read more

My family went up to Seattle a while ago and we encountered this gem of a spot. The place is small but cozy, and there where no places to sit down when we went. Food is delish. We arrived at 6pm on a Saturday evening and there was no wait! You order at the front, find a seat and the food comes pretty promptly. We ordered the chirashi bowl, sukiyaki beef bowl and chicken katsu. There was a pretty good amount and variety of fish in the chirashi bowl for 15.5. I would say, similar in quantity with Musashi's. The flavors of the chicken and sukiyaki beef bowl were also just as delicious! The bowls had so much rice that the two of us probably only finished half in each bowl. My suggestion would be to increase the quantity of meat instead of having such a ridiculous amount of rice. But food costs are rising, understandable... The sushi rice in the Chirashi bowl could be more flavorful as well. Just a note, they do not allow you to take sashimi out for left overs so make sure you finish the bowl there! read more

I am addicted. This has ruined me. Ever since I tried a chriashi bowl from here, I've been having weekly cravings ... and I've been visiting that much. The fish is SO good and fresh and you aren't skimped. I'm absolutely obsessed with the chirashi bowl, where I don't like shrimp so they sub extra salmon in (!!!). It's also great order out food - most times, since it's probably crowded and the shop is small, I'll order ahead and my meal is ready for a quick pickup. I was impressed with my first visit here. I've heard this is the new Musashi in town, so of course I got their chirashi bowl to compare. Nice, thick slices of maguro, abacore, salmon, hamachi, and unagi that were fresh tasting and had a nice flavor from their house soy sauce made with dashi. This fish, along with tobiko and shrimp, were over a bed of warm sushi rice that could have used a little more flavoring, but I really appreciate warm sushi rice. Service was quick and friendly, welcoming me in and thanking me loudly on the way out. The chirashi was the same price as Musashi, and they take credit cards! Another similarity to Musashi is that it's not a very big place so gotta get here early or late to avoid the rush crowds. The street parking is horrible here, as it is anywhere in Seattle, so bring a little patience as you hunt for a space. Overall a very solid option to Seattle's raw fish restaurants, and I look forward to going back and trying their other bowls. read more

The wait was around 30 minutes for me, but I heard estimates for longer wait times from the staff. Once a table is ready for your party, you go up to the counter near the entrance to place your order. After the transaction, you may sit yourself at the open table or counter seats. Their most popular dish is the chirashi bowl. It's made with 3 tuna slices, 3 yellowtail slices, 2 seared albacore slices, 1 cooked shrimp, 2 unagi slices, 5 salmon slices, 1 dollop of minced fatty tuna, some masago (capelin fish roe - the tiny orange fish eggs), 1 cucumber slice, and a bit of chopped scallions; all served on top of a generous bowl of rice flavored with rice vinegar & soy sauce. The hot sukiyaki beef & thick cut of unagi drizzled in a mildly sweet caramelized onion sauce bedding on top of hot rice. My quarantine belly was so so happy. For all the times I've eaten here I've only ever ordered the Chirashi bowl. ...Yeah...I see the tonkatsu don come out, and it does look really good, but when push comes to shove I can't say no to big cuts of the freshest tuna, albacore, salmon, eel, yellowtail, (1) shrimp, and masago piled on top of sushi rice. The fish melts in your mouth. And if you add a splash of house made soy sauce it's heaven. (I hear the rice is unlimited, but I've never needed more.) And in my opinion, $15/person is a fair price to pay compared to ordering a platter of sushi somewhere else. GOOD TO KNOW: *This isn't a full-service restaurant. Order at the counter, find a seat & they'll bring the food to you. Afterwards you can bus your own table by bringing your tray to the far end of the space. *Also if you can't finish your bowl (who even are you?), and if your order has raw fish in it, you won't get a to-go container due to health code reasons. So eat up! NITPICKY CONS: It's a small, narrow space, so if you have a big group you might want to order it to-go as it can get crowded (but service is fast & people don't usually linger at the tables). Street parking can be hard to find. Also, fellow environmentalists: BYO water bottle. They have a water dispenser but use tiny single-use plastic cups. ...The gyoza appetizers are just okay. Come for the unagi bowl - the chirashi is good, but it's mainly carried by that coveted Pacific NW salmon, which sits proudly at the top of the bowl bragging about how smooth and amazing it is (and it is). The rest of it is fine, but it's just that - fine. Too much tuna for my taste (standard, fatty, AND albacore). That unagi bowl, though. If you're an eel lover, turn around and hustle here. You'll never find a bigger portion of as ideally grilled eel, brushed just lightly with sauce (not drowned like most places) as you'll find in this bowl. read more

Everyone comes here for their chirashi bowls because DUH! A tad cheaper than Musashi and definitely a smaller line. You order at the counter and the staff will seat you and bring you your food. The serving was very generous and had me holding my belly on the way out. We also ordered an unagi don which was perfectly delicious when reheated the next day as leftovers. I definitely prefer this place over Musashi's due to the shorter line, cheaper price tag, and cleaner and more hip ambiance. Came here for the chirashi bowl. The quality of fish is excellent, for what you pay. I was a little sad I couldn't customize my bowl by picking which fish to include in it, but I still enjoyed it. The space is kind of small, so it's not a bad idea to order to-go if you don't want to wait too long for a table. Parking was also kind of a hassle, as it can be in this part of Fremont. I also came not knowing that the restaurant got shut down a year ago because it was tied to a salmonella outbreak - I only found that out after we left. Yummmm. Only wish they would uber eat or deliver to Bothell! Sashimi was fresh on the chirashi, but rice was a little hard. Maybe because I had it to go and the rice was a bit cold by the time I got home. Salmon don was a little small, but was still good. My kids devoured the unagi eel don! Didn't have enough sauce, so we added a little house soy and it was perfect. They actually have a good amount of eel compared to other places, so that was a plus! From other reviews, I thought the chirashi was going to be small but it's quite filling!! Downside is there's not much street parking, so have to park near the neighborhood and walk back over. I arrived on a thursday, right when it opened 430pm, so there wasn't a line. Thank goodness, as I didn't want to wait with 2 toddlers. This place is take out only as they did not reopen indoor dining so we decided to take it and eat it at gas works park to watch the sunset. It was late at night and the restaurant was basically packed. Fortunately, this group left as I finished ordering for us; so, we were able to sit very quickly. I mean the restaurant is already too small where tables are basically touching the guests on both side. Anyways, the raw fish were super fresh and delicious. The quality was up there for its price for the bowl. When it comes to fish, I can eat a lot. I COULD have eaten one more bowl, but would have regretted. I generally like Fremont Bowl's Chirashi. It comes with a good amount of sashimi on a choice of rice or salad. But a couple days ago I ate one for lunch and then experienced 36 hours of food poisoning. 24 hours with extreme pain. The fish smelled okay, though uncharachteristically came with small scrappy pieces. When I called to report my experience, the response was "Oh, sorry". Shouldn't there be some assurance that they would look into it, talk to their chef's about being more careful, or?" Anyway, quality control there seems to be iffy. I won't eat there again! read more

I'm not from this area so I'll be transparent right off the bat and mention that I cannot compare this to Musashi. This place has an amazing chirashi bowl! I really wanted to try the short ribs as well so a friend and I split both bowls. I absolutely loved the portion size for both bowls and the mixture of fish. It was nice to see two opposite dishes both showcase the same consistency in quality and taste. The fish was fresh and well presented and the rice is delicious. We definitely had some leftover as the bowls are pretty deep. In my opinion, Fremont Bowl has the BEST Chirashi bowl in Seattle! I also frequently get their Salmon Poke bowl when I'm craving seaweed salad and crab salad, or just want a big load of delicious raw salmon. Their fish is so fresh, thick, and flavorful. Their rice is also delicious- it's like sticky sushi rice with a delicious tang to it. I prefer the Spicy sauce over the Yuzu sauce for the Poke bowl, even though I don't typically love spicy things. I came up for the weekend from Portland, and had been wanting to try Fremont Bowl. Previously, I had gone to Musashi's for chirashi bowls, but heard this was a really good option as well. The first thing I noticed was how small and cramped it was. There is very limited seating. When you walk in, you order at the front. There was a little bit of a wait, so we signed in, and sat for about 10 minutes before being called up to the front to order. We were seated, and literally probably only 5 minutes later, everything came out. I was surprised by how fast they made the food, and the quality of the presentation! The fish tasted pretty fresh, and for the price, it was definitely worth. The bowl was packed with large cuts of fresh fish, and just the perfect amount of rice - the ratio was just right. I loved the unagi and salmon especially. I haven't been to Musashi's in a while, but Fremont Bowl may be my new place to go if I'm back in Seattle and craving some generous cuts of sashimi. read more

Been wanting to come here for sooo long. Finally came here and so happy we did. Parking is street and quite easy. When we got here, there were only 2 other tables dining, which I did find baffling. As we entered, there was a counter with a big blackboard above where the menu is written. We placed our order at the counter then took a seat. There's a water dispenser where you get your own drinking water from. They reuse plenty of empty sake bottles for decors and play Japanese pop music. It didn't take that long for our food to be ready. We ordered gyoza for appetizer. I got the Aburi Sake Don (seared salmon rice bowl) while he got the Unagi Don (eel rice bowl). Holy moly guacamole, the Aburi Sake don is very delicious. If salmon is not seared right, it can start smelling or tasting "fishy". But the seared salmon here has that smoky flavor and still juicy and tender inside. The yuzu soy sauce also goes great together with the salmon. I really liked it. I tried his Unagi Don as well. I'm quite a fussypants about unagi, I don't eat just any kind of unagi. It has to be good quality eels or else my tastebuds just start to go all weird and make me feel nauseous. The unagi here is cooked perfectly and the eel sauce is yummy. On the subject of their portion. I find it a tad strange that everyone else here is saying the portion is huge and generous, even good for sharing too. Ugh.. seriously? Either we were getting an unusually smaller portion that night or the monster in our tummy was just extra hungry. Frankly we were still hungry after finishing our meal. The price was fair for my Aburi Sake Don, but hubby's Unagi Don cost a few dollars extra. Would still come back here though, and maybe order extra food next time. read more

It used to be my go for chirashi joint with 5 stars! But my recent order included Chinese soy sauce, neither kikkoman nor house soy sauce. Also Yuzu pepper was missing.
