Starting with, I've been here many times and I really want to see this business succeed through these rough times. I would have rated closer to a 3.5 however, I'm rounding up due to overall experience and quality of pastry. I stopped in Thursday morning around 8ish and was surprised to see the pastry counter wasn't stocked. The pastries were on the trays ready to be placed but nobody was tending them. The restaurant was empty yet I waited 5 minutes to be greeted and here is why I'm marking down. The young girl working the counter seen me but instead of filling the pastry counter or greet me, she continued to make coffees for the staff in the back. I watched her make 2 and hand deliver them before she ever considered serving me. When she was done with her internal barista duties she (with zero pleasantry) asked what I wanted to order. I was getting a variety of pastry though it was difficult to select since nothing was in the case to view; I ordered what I knew was standard. The girl was confused about what type of pastry was available so I pointed and said ok. The safe haven here is that nearly every pastry is a delight. I ordered eclairs, turnovers, croissants, scones and muffins. The lamination that is achieved on the pastry is damn near spot on and truly is a delight. I do believe they follow closely the French standard for pastry and I've never been disappointed with a pastry order. The almond croissant was filled with chocolate this time, which I've never had that way in the past; it was still crispy outside with a buttery flakyness to it that I adore. I'm rooting for them and hope that people continue to encourage the great pastry coming out and, continue giving constructive feedback where it's needed. There are some challenges in the kitchen and staff however, it's difficult right now and I'm cheerleading the tides turn! read more

I went around 5:00pm and the service was horrible it was also very dirty. Don't even get me started in the bathroom they smelled horrible and I think I might have seen a bug crawling around there. When I got my pastries (tarts), the fruit was already getting a bit moldy so I couldn't even enjoy my tart. I have gone to get breakfast sometime and get very good service with 2 these very kind girl, but the breakfast is horrible. I don't know the cook but he burned and put too much grease on the food that it tastes horrible. I really don't recommend going here at all that's why I gave it a one star! read more

There was a girl working the counter, she had food gloves on and ran her hands through her hair to her scalp then continued working with the same gloves. I tried calling to talk to a manager. I've only been here one time so make of it what you will but our experience was so different from what I'm reading here, I felt compelled to write something. The service was very good. The pastry case is beautiful; I had their version of a cinnamon roll (made with puff pastry) and it was crisp, buttery and delicious. My husband had a breakfast sandwich and it was huge and very good. And the coffee was more than decent and CHEAP... a $2 cup of coffee in this day and age is practically a gift. WORST customer service ever. I ordered a fruit tart from them on 11/2 for Sunday 11/3, with a greeting of happy birthday mom and dad. I paid for it in CASH just so my husband could pick it up with no issue on Sunday. Sunday comes around and my husband picks it up and they tell him that the greeting was not paid for. Yet on Saturday when I paid NONE of that was said. The bakery could of just given courtesy and given my husband the fruit tart with the greeting because it was THEIR FAULT. Instead we just got sent with the fruit tart on its own. First time going back to them and last time I'll be going. I mean for $40 the least they can do is give a medallion for free for a mistake they made. I went to this place super excited to get a napoleon. I love to cook but these are very hard to make so I love a good French bakery for this delicate delicious treat. This place was clean and had friendly staff and a clean bathroom but that's where the good ends. The napoleon was absolutely horrifying. It was soggy, the custard was firm and dried out and was flavorless. I took one bite thinking perhaps my eyes deceived me- but no, it was as bad as it looked. I took it apart thinking maybe the middle wouldn't be dried- but it literally had no flavor it was congealed in a strange way and was pitiful. I got my boyfriend an almond raspberry tart for later but I didn't give it to him. It was also old and tough. It left that greasy feeling you used to get on the roof of your mouth after eating a birthday cake from the grocery store in the 80's. Cheap grease. Unfortunately, I will stick to only ordering sheet cakes from here. We decided to venture out and order a tiered cake for a special occasion from here but we should have just stuck to the regular sheet cakes. I received a lopsided cake that didn't have any of the details we had requested (initially no piped flowers and initially no border). When I requested the details to be added the cake was taken and then returned like the pictures attached. While waiting another customer came to get their customized tiered cake for a quinceañera and their order was incorrect too! Poor guy had to wait to get his fixed as well. On top of this, the bottom vanilla cake was underdone! I felt bad serving mushy cake to our guests. I do have to give them an extra star because the sheet cakes we usually get are absolutely delicious, unfortunately customized orders fall short. read more

Today was the last time I will be visiting this establishment. The past couple years the service and food quality has been going downhill. This morning I ordered one of my favorites, the almond croissant. In the short time it took me to walk out to my car. The bottom of the bag was soaked through with grease and all over my hand. The bottom of the croissant was so mushy and greasy the whole thing was inedible!!! I took it back and let the girls know my displeasure. I loved this place! The fruit tarts were absolutely amazing. We also tried some savory items like chicken montecristo and the kids breakfast plate. It was all done very nicely. The sandwich was huge and tasty. There was some kind of really nice sauce and melted cheese on it. Will be back! The service was prompt. Have gone here occasionally for about 10 years. Used to be pretty good but the service was always a joke. Now the service is SO bad it's just ridiculous. Went in there a few mornings ago and went up to the cash register. Two disaffected Gen Z um, "ladies" stood there and counted change. No eye contact, no hello, nothing. The epitome of couldn't care less tiktok anti-service. Seriously? Finally another girl walked over and said, "What can I get for you?" Again, no hello, how are you, nothing. We ordered, ate and left. This is a review for a birthday cake order, not for pastries or dine-in service. We typically like cake that's lesser on the sweet side so French bakeries are the typical go-to. It was my first time ordering at this French bakery - I ordered a 1/2 sheet vanilla strawberry cream with rainbow sprinkles along the sides. Placed the order 24hrs in advance and they accommodated. It was the right amount of moist, sweetness and flavor. They were generous with the strawberry filling and it wasn't too wet. The price was reasonable as well. The girl who helped me was sweet and offered to bring it out to the car. My cousins and the guests enjoyed the cake and asked where we got it. Was going to my mom's & made my bf come with me. But he's always hungry & said he didn't eat. I didn't know where or what I wanted to eat, but he suggested this. So away we went. This is my 2nd time coming here & my 1st time eating here. The girls who took our order were nice. I ordered a big plate which came with 2 pancakes (beautiful -with powdered sugar & 3 strawberrhe's on top), hard scrambled eggs, 2 strips of bacon, 2 sausage links, & crispy hash browns. It was sooooo delicious! The hash browns were thin which was super helpful because it could get a nice crunch. Like eating a huge chip! I washed down what little I ate with a chocolate chunk freeze. Delicious! My bf ordered a Vista special i think it was called. It was basically a 3 layer croissant sandwich: cheese, hash browns, ham, & eggs. He devoured it & followed it up with some sips of his mocha freeze (I found this more bland then my drink) & a strawberry tart. He loved the tart! I ordered 4 crossiants as well & gave 2 to my mom. She loved them as well, but I've yet to try. It won't matter though, i know they'll be good! Apparently, the person who described this place as a Mexican bakery calling itself a French bakery hit the nail on the head. We ordered the crepes Florentine and Bree and avocado omelette... neither of which was good. There were basically no crêpes and hardly any spinach, just a plate full of sauce with greasy chicken. The omelette was barely warm, dry and lacking flavor in general. The hashbrowns were just OK. The worst part was the attitude of the young ladies working there. When the crepes came out and we looked at them, we were confused... We dug through with a fork and found a tiny remnant of a crepe and tried to show the waitress when she came back with our condiments. She just glanced at it and walked away as I was trying to explain that we were missing the crepes part - in the middle of my sentence, she just turned her back and walked away. We were on vacation in Escondido at one of the resorts we frequent and needed groceries, etc. for the condo. This bakery is conveniently next to the Albertson's store. We were excited to see that they had chocolate croissants still despite getting there late. Most everywhere we go whether in Reno or Sacramento, chocolate croissants don't last on the displays past 9:00. Unfortunately, the staff made it feel like you, the customer, were inconveniencing them with questions. Then when we get back to the resort and cut into the croissant to see this teasing of chocolate. The pastry consistency and flavor was good as reported by the kids for their selections, but similarly skimpy on fillings. We spotted this French bakery when we were eating lunch at Kung Fu Noodles and decided to give it a shot for dessert. At the entrance they had a table with a ton of bags filled with sugar cookies for purchase. There's a large display case with all sorts of tarts, pastries, and other treats. We tried a variety of items and everyone was happy with what they got. My chocolate croissant was light and fluffy. There are a couple of good things about this place. The pastries here are quite good, and so are the sandwiches for the most part. The burgers are not good - if you want a burger, go somewhere else. Also, if you want anything close to good service, go somewhere else. We live about a mile away and have been coming in more or less weekly for maybe two years. As others have noted, the staff "working" behind the counter are for the most part (there have been a couple of exceptions) somewhere between bored and straight up rude. This morning for example, there was one young woman putting coins into the register, another young woman wiping down the counter, and a young man whose only occupation seemed to be to stand there and avoid looking at me. I am the only person standing in front of the counter, being ignored by these three. This goes on for at least a full minute before I get fed up and walk out. We have also had the experience of a special order cake being "lost". They just lost a regular customer, but obviously they don't give a ****. If you want to order something from the case and don't mind rude/hostile customer service, go for it. Otherwise keep looking. read more

We also got some cake slices to try and even a fruit tart to share with family. All were excellent! The staff was friendly and patient (it takes me forever to decide on things). The cream they make tastes like a light buttercream, NOT cool whip as other people have mentioned in the reviews. It tastes nothing like cool whip to me. The staff wasn't rude at all either. The sad thing is... on the extremely rare occasion that they make your food the way you order it, it's delicious. However, their customer service is abysmal. Daniella the "manager" is dismissive, condescending and apathetic. If I owned this place I would never want someone like her to be on my frontline staff, let alone "managing" any part of my business. Disturbing activity and very low quality, this place is trading on history. I used to live down the block from this place, and in the past it was first-rate. Now it's trading on memories. I was excited to be in town and return, but during my visit I received stale food, and the staff were too busy playing games to help most people. Literally at one point, one staff member smeared a handfull of frosting on the face of another worker. Not only must this violate a range of health and safety laws, it's not something you want happening in front of your customers. One other customer commented, "Is today free facial day?" to try and break the awkwardness. They also had some doors propped open without the high pressure air blowers used to keep out flies, another health and safety violation. The macaroons were hard and stale, and had broken in being made, as you can see in the attached photo. Things should not separate like that. Tried this place for the first time the other day, and they're a pass for me. Here are some observations, and our experience: - Available tables are dirty (crumbs, oily streaks, smushed berry toppings, you name it). - Order took a really long time (I just had a side of eggs, husband got the kid's plate). - Pastries are stored in the same display case as cakes, so they are cold! (I don't really want a cold almond croissant - they're supposed to be room temperature). - I asked for a hot green tea, and the girl said they didn't have any. But then she read all the tea bag options to me and there was one called 'Green Dragon Well'" (which is green tea)..... - Husband's decaf coffee was not hot, and his bacon was burned. Overall, nothing to be impressed with. A lot of people were picking up cakes (so I guess that means they do custom orders too), but honestly just go to Frazier's and pay a little more for a better environment and experience.
