Cute little restaurant in the French Quarter! There is currently construction surrounding the area, with large chain-link fences making it a bit tricky to find the entrance, but it was well worth the effort. When we walked in, most of the tables were already full. We were greeted by the hostess, and we asked if we could just sit and dine at the bar top. She escorted us to our seats, and we noticed signage indicating that bar seating was managed by the hostess anyway. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and quick to answer all of our questions. As we waited, we couldn't help but notice the enormous plates being delivered to nearby tables, such as the Coconut French Toast and Fried Oyster Toast were absolutely massive! We decided on the Catfish & Shrimp, Chicken & Waffles, and the Aebelskivers (puffer pancakes) with caramel sauce. Everything arrived quickly, hot, and fresh. The cayenne butter paired perfectly with the Chicken & Waffles, and the caramel sauce was the perfect choice for the Aebelskivers! Absolutely delicious! Not only was the food good here it was the most fun I've had at a restaurant in a while. The staff was great - we sat at the bar - constantly engaging us. The setting of this place was perfect too. There are few breakfast spots in the quarter that I like and this is among them. I like the bacon omelet with Gruyère and a side of hot sausage. Their omelets have a cheese pull! Put some hot sauce on there and you're cooking. The hot sausage, well you gotta try it. It's unique in a good way. The crepes are good my wife likes the banana and Nutella, but the folks next to us got savory crepes and I think I am going to get that next time. One of our friends got the king cake French toast and we had seen it before and knew what he was getting into but he ate it all!!! The service is super friendly every time we have been, and this time was no exception. The place is French Quarter through and through. Kinda quirky, kinda hipster, kinda you know. There is construction going on out front on Decatur that isn't close to be done so the fences make it kinda hard to find, and sitting outside is not so great now. There is nothing you can do about it, but we prefer to sit inside so there can be a wait because it's small. If you don't want to wait go ahead and sit outside if the weather nice. A true hidden gem! I was not expecting the serving size to be so large, but it was delicious. My friend ordered the fried oyster entree and it was the best surprise of a meal (had oyster, avocado, a sauce, and more). Our server was just as sweet as the food and luckily we were able to sit, order, and eat before catching our flight out of the city. Around 11 on a Sunday we had a 35 minute wait, but they sent a text when our table was ready so we were able to wander around while we waited. It does get very busy on some days but if you're willing to wait the food is worth it , they have outside seating and indoor seating. The waitresses were also very nice and energetic. We ate here for breakfast on Thursday 2/19/26 and it was my favorite meal of the trip! I had the coconut cream lemon stuffed French toast with a side of bacon and a delicious Bloody Mary to drink. Our hostess Terry made us feel so welcomed as she handled seating the many groups of folks coming in on a rainy day. Our server Keke was just as amazing and was very welcoming as well. We ordered the Chicken & Waffles, which came with a delicious Cajun butter (10/10 recommend), a side of Lyonnaise Potatoes (amazing) and a good ol cup of OJ. The wait was definitely worth the food and the cozy and welcoming staff was the cherry on top. I recently had brunch at French Toast in New Orleans, and overall the food was actually really good. However, partway through the meal, we noticed a cockroach on the wall near the whiteboard by the bar/prep area. We let the staff know, and it was removed, but the reaction felt very casual--no apology or acknowledgment of how uncomfortable that was. I understand that in a city like New Orleans pests can happen, but seeing one indoors during a meal definitely takes away from the experience. Because of the excellent and numerous reviews I can't understand why this experience was so bad. I mean how difficult is it to fry eggs and bacon? My husband ordered the toast with berries on it. I cut into the eggs and once again the yolk is cooked through. I had no chance to even let her know when a different server brings me 2 additional eggs. The server was just as confused as me. Had breakfast here on one of our morning's in NOLA. Coming from the North, I thought there'd be no tourists here! Ha! Our waitress was Juliette and though soft-spoken, she was very attentive; I'm a tea drinker, though, and I tried to order a hot tea latte and she'd no idea what I was talking about, but I explained, just a cup of tea, half filled with steamed milk. I got a perfect cup delivered to me (hot milk in a creamer on the side). My friend had a delicious (by her measure) cappuccino. I was trying not to eat a big breakfast in anticipation of beignets and gators-on-a-stick, but I tucked into a bacon, spinach & gruyere omelette with slice of toast & homemade strawberry preserves with side of fruit.
