Some times it gets a little warm and they have to adjust the air just like some places in France. They are attentive and welcoming. It feels like personal attention to the guests. Have I really never reviewed this place? I've been coming to Frenchie's for over a year. The staff is pretty friendly if busy and kind of loud (you'll hear the manager (owner?) shushing then loudly every 10-15 minutes. We ALWAYS get the French onion soup, pate, and escargot. Love the mussels and French fries and the duck confit is excellent as well. I've taken my parents and my boyfriends parents there and they all love it! I will say their down fall is that they NEVER write down orders (at least not in front of you) so at least 3 times I've gone and had food I didn't order set in front of me. The website says nothing about the need for or the possibility of reserving a table. So I arrived at 5:45 for the 6PM opening. The tables outside were occupied by a loud, cursing, inebriated group of men. When I was allowed to enter the empty restaurant at 6, I learned all the tables but but the one at the back near the bathroom were reserved. My son's Filet, ordered medium rare, was well done; my Wild Mushroom Risotto With Duck Confit was quite good. Overall, overpriced and underwhelming. read more

OMG, where have you been Frenchies!!! Small cozy place, with limited seating - not that you need much. But the place definitely has a charm, you will be transported to a little place in France. French servers, french menu, french handwriting, and articles on the wall that resemble a far country.... France. The food is great! The menu might be limited, but that is no obstacle. They have a different menu for lunch and dinner. If you go for dinner and want a lunch item, always ask, they are willing to accommodate. Fries are to die for!!! Beer Mussels were my have. Although you might taste a hint of beer, it's totally delicious!!! Mussels are meaty and with great flavor, oh and the best part the fries that come with it. Escargots, yes SNAILS, deliciously great! This restaurant will not disappoint. The pictures posted does not convey how charming it is. The chalkboard menu is placed on your table and specials of the day are explained. The menu is not extensive but has choices Of fish, meat , risotto and mussels. I ordered the special which was scallops and the mussels. The scallops were perfectly seared. Found myself in the Gables for a meeting on a lovely Friday afternoon and called a close friend (and excellent foodie) for a lunch recommendation, and he immediately suggested Frenchie's. I figured that any rec that came so quickly must be wonderful and sure enough, Frenchie's was fantastic. The cauliflower soup was some of the best I ever had and the lamb chops on fava and stew was enough for three people (or one American) with plenty left over for later. The setting is a cute French bistro and it was encouraging to see that rather than a standard menu, they mix it up with a traditional chalkboard, serving fresh, seasonal ingredients. First class experience tucked away, and I'm looking forward to getting back and exploring more of the chalkboard menu. read more

Their onion soup makes me o so happy!! The service is very french (they will remind you multiple times that its closing time and don't have much patience) but its part of the charm. The duck club could use some more duck but it taste awesome and everybody raves about the mussels. Ive had the steak and fries and its well seasoned and a great size. Glancing at the chalk board menu which is placed ostentatiously at your table until you order. (Who needs printed menus anyway, right ?) I like it! Sparkling water and "tout suite!" I went for the croque monsier madame, a ham and cheese sandwich with a sunny side egg on top. Nicole ordered the the a country salad with warm goat cheese, proscuitto, olives and tomatoes. Had lunch at Frenchie's on Friday afternoon. I ordered the French Onion Soup and the Duck Confit Club. Quality Looking for a place to grab a quick lunch on Friday, I decided to try out Frenchie's. A quaint little French bistro located a bit off the beaten path in Coral Gables. It is a quirky spot that serves up traditional French cuisine. I started my meal with a French Onion Soup. It was a very flavorful dish, with lots of cheese to scoop up with each bite. I also saved some of the baguette provided upon arrival to soak up what I couldn't grab with a spoon. I was less enthusiastic about the Duck Confit Club. While the actual meat was delicious, it was very sparse and it was just completely lathered in mayonnaise. Honestly I felt sick when I took one bite that was literally nothing but bread and mayo. I would not order that sandwich again. The French Fries that came on the side of the sandwich were solid, warm and just a little crispy. Quantity The French Onion Soup is a very hearty bowl, that paired with bread is pretty filling. The Duck Confit Club, meanwhile was disappointing in terms of its size. Although a normal sized sandwich, it had very limited meat. Value Everything was overpriced, but it was the Duck Confit Club that was absurd. At $18, this mayonnaise sandwich is a joke. And this was for lunch, I could not even imagine what dinner prices look like. Ambiance Frenchie's is located in Coral Gables a few blocks south of Miracle Mile. It is a small bistro that is located on a quiet street. In front of the shop they have three tables for guests who want to enjoy their meals or sip coffee or wine outside. Inside the restaurant is very busy, with signs, paintings, drawings, and wine piled up everywhere. Instead of using menus, they place large blackboards at your table with the items available that day. It is a fun little twist that I have never seen before. The tables are packed together tight, so expect to overhear neighboring conversations. In the background they had classical music playing gently to set the mood. Crowd The restaurant was very busy for the Friday lunch crowd. It appeared that many of the patrons came in groups that likely walked over from their nearby office buildings. It also felt like at least two of the tables were regulars as they were welcomed immediately by the manager. It was a relatively casual dining experience during lunch, but I could imagine it being an nice intimate place for dinner. Service The service was actually the best part of the meal. My waiter was very attentive and the manager clearly was very involved with checking on tables. They also had my food out at a perfect pace so I could enjoy my soup before being attacked with the rest of my meal. Parking I was able to find street parking less than a block away with no problem at all. As it is a few blocks away from the busier areas of Coral Gables, I wouldn't imagine problems at any time. Extra Frenchie's did not meet my expectations in terms of the food and was too overpriced for what I was served. I did enjoy the ambiance and felt the service was excellent, but nothing about my experience convinced me a return visit would be warranted. read more

I went to Frenchies with two special ladies and the owner, Gaby and his staff, did not disappoint us. The service was excellent and our appetizer and main course were absolutely delicious. This little gem of French restaurant takes very good care of its customers and the food is authentic. We had escargot as an appetizer, and our main course of filet mignon, and sea bass on a bed of risotto were absolutely done to perfection. Our dessert didn't not disappoint either. This place is very good- but not great- and not worth it- given its side street location in Coral Gables and coffee shop decor. Skip this place for dinner. (Returned one dish, filet mignon. I am going to France in less than a month so for a warm up I went to Frenchies! I can get used to this I thought to myself as I sipped on bubble water out of a Mickey Mouse cup! I ordered the goat cheese and prosciutto salad! Warm goat cheese on the salad and I was in love. Fred got what I would call in English a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with an egg on top. Very creamy and cheesy which I would call "rich" with goodness. Bread was served! The waiter clearly spoke French. I understood bonjour so I clearly belong in France! Well good warm up anyway! Enough about me, the food at Frenchies was delicious and I enjoyed the ambience with all kind of art pieces to catch your attention! 5 stars for sure and I usually only give 4 stars to new places.... Let me preface this by saying the following: I'm not a fan of escargot...except the escargot I had here. Um, um, um. It's definitely a must try. I had the steak frites as my main course. I know...basic steak and fries. However, the cut was nice, it was cooked to perfection (somewhere between medium and medium rare), and it was mighty flavorful. The fries? Well, I had to hurry and eat 'em cause my lunch partner (gorgeous little thing that she is) was going to town on them. Yes, they were very good. She had the Salmon Niçoise Salad and gave it two thumbs up (did I mention she's a picky eater?). We washed down the meal with a glass of Prosecco that complimented our meals very well. We wrapped up our meals with a homemade blueberry pudding topped with a scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream. The bread pudding was solid. It's no Gigi bread pudding, but without a doubt, worth your sweet tooth. Nice addition to the neighborhood. The atmosphere was welcoming, the waiter knowledgeable and helpful, and the prices very reasonable. I will be back. Often. read more

Loved this French diner in the heart of Coral Gables. It's quaint with great service. Authentic French cuisine and accents to go with it. Ordered the duck confit club. Wow, just wow. It's delicious! Generous portion of duck that is perfectly cooked. The greens and the garlic (?) spread are a great compliment to the duck meat. The side of fries were very good also, not greasy or stale, freshly fried. For dessert I went with the vanilla pot de creme as per a friends recommendation and I'm glad I did! This was a last minute spot my co worker and I decided to go to. I have to admit, great little hidden gem. It is a very cozy spot and it takes you away from Miami for just a while which is nice. The service was amazing also and they were always around to make sure we were doing fine. The menu is small and very simple but it is so so good. Food: French onion soup: I had never tried french onion soup, but after trying it here, I think it had become a new dish I like. It was amazing. Super flavorful and the perfect amount of crunch and creaminess. Quiche: This was also extremely good. I was expecting to need a knife to cut it to try a piece of my co worker's but didn't It was so soft and fresh and had so much flavor. Croque Madam: I am obsessed with croque madam. This was definitely one of the best ones I have had. It was so good. The cream was so tasty and thick and just made everything so much better. And who doesn't like an egg over their food!? I was able to taste all the flavors of everything and the fries were also very good. The cheese was melted to perfect and combined so well with the ham, which was fresh, unlike some places I have been to before. I was soo happy with this dish.
