Snack time in Moiliili, Honolulu, Hawaii... After a fun Mah Jong session (even though I technically didn't win), Paul C. and I weren't ready to call it a day yet. I suggested that we have a snack at a place that I had seen on social media (Instagram). I picked up Paul and took him to Old Stadium Square where there are many foodie places and a free shared parking lot. He couldn't guess where we were going... Haha! Fresh Bites! What's that? They have poke bowls, Acai bowls, bubble tea, mochi waffles, etc. It's quite a good variety of options for a cozy shop! When we entered, I liked the cute decor right away. The big wall mural with the surf boards gave the place positive energy! The spring green chairs added a pop of cheerfulness and the Instagramworthy wall had a nice version of their logo! Service was above friendly because the gal at the cash register was so helpful and efficient! She repeated our order to make sure she got everything recorded correctly! Yay! Then we sat for a minute, chatted, and were served our beautiful snacks! Paul wanted a matcha latte and the matcha mochi waffle. That green waffle was decorated so strikingly! The berries, ube ice cream, and whipped cream made me not want to destroy it. Paul cut it up and let me taste the waffle - chewy with a slight outer crunch... And not that bitter! (I'm always wary of matcha bitterness.) I got the Butterfly Pea Honey Lemonade - I liked it a lot because it wasn't too sweet, and it was refreshing with a two-toned lavender/yellow hue ...pretty! I also ordered a single scoop Acai Bowl. It was perfect! Sliced bananas, granola, coconut flakes, strawberries, and blueberries gave me a healthy boost! Thanks to Fresh Bites for a happy snack! I'm happy that my friend thought of trying Fresh Bites. Not only is it open on Mondays and Tuesdays when a lot of eating places are closed, but there's also free parking. Fresh Bites is easy to find. It is in the middle of the complex between Golden Eagle and Kozo Sushi. There are a few tables set in a cute, colorful dining area. We were there at about 11am on Monday and there were lots of open tables. We had a nice quiet lunch with time to enjoy the surroundings. The variety of items was impressive... mochi waffles, acai bowls, poke bowls, kalua pork moco, sukiyaki don, salads, bubble waffles and ice cream! Plus, choose a latte, cold brew, ice tea, or lemonade to complete the meal. I only tried a few things thus time. The signature matcha mochi waffles comes with fruit and a scoop of ube ice cream. This is a signature dish for a reason. It is not only delicious, but beautiful! The waffle is soft and a little chewy. It would be perfect if it were crispy on the outside, but it's still tasty. The ice cream provides a little more sweetness without being too sweet. The arabiki waffle dogs were a nice, savory compliment to the other dish... and there are two, perfect for sharing! For me the show stopper was the lilikoi calamansi green tea. I loved it! There are other beverages too. But I will detour through King St. just to get another one of these! Honey calamansi lemonade is refreshing especially when it's hot outside. Took out a Mochi waffle dog(arabiki is inside which had a nice snap, kabayaki sauce, Bonito, and mayo on top) was average. The kabayaki sauce was a little too sweet for my taste, personally don't think it needs it, might taste better with cheese(which is extra). The mochi waffle tastes just like how it sounds. Mochi part was like a soft chewiness, just wish maybe outside part would be crispy. Comes in order of 2. Sashimi salad was good, fish was fresh. Met up with a friend for lunch after an appointment at Salon Eclipz next door. I had a poke bowl and my friend had a poke burrito. It was amazingly flavorful, fresh and reasonable. 3.26.2022 Fresh Bites Cafe Hawaii on South King St is participating in Food-A-Go-Go. Their specials are spicy ahi poke bombs and salmon nigiri sushi. Four pieces each in a bento container for $12.95! The ahi was fresh, grade A to me, and the perfect amount of spicyness. The salmon sashimi was fresh, melt in your mouth goodness, topped with three beautiful bright orange salmon roe. Good amount of rice ratio. Wasabi and pickled ginger included. So delicious! Also, you get a free cup of iced tea or coffee when you check-in on Yelp or Facebook! Fresh Bites Cafe is well lighted, very clean, with a few tables and chairs for patrons. They sell bottled water and can juices. As soon as we stepped into the Cafe, we were welcomed immediately with sincerity. They had laminated menus on a table and at the ordering station. Service was quick. And free parking! read more

I first saw this place on IG and wanted to try it for the poke, but when I saw their menu, I knew I had to try their benedict. I made a takeout order with them over the phone since the online ordering website was a bit weird and everything went smoothly. Where else can you get benedicts like this? I ordered the beef sukiyaki benedict, which is one of their popular choices (along with the portuguese sausage one). The base is their mochi waffle, topped with beef sukiyaki (thinly sliced beef and onions), poached egg, and hollandaise sauce. It's an unusual combination but works so well! The egg was also cooked really well and was still yolky when I got back to the office to eat it. I'll still have to go back to try the poke, but it might be hard to resist ordering this every time! read more

I'm quite finicky when it comes to fish and it's definitely not previously frozen. The service was always helpful. There was just one day it took forever to order. I think she didn't know how to work the cash register or didn't know how to do the promotion on the register. There's some parking out front. Most of it is 15 minute stalls. I've had Fresh Bites bookmarked for awhile and finally got the chance to pop in pick up their spicy ahi bombs, salmon ikura nigiri and a beef bowl. All the items were just as expected. The April special includes an iced tea of choice for $13.99. I definitely want to come back and try their mochi waffle and sandwiches, as well as their poke bowls. My coworker found Fresh Bites on his Instagram and recommended that we try it for lunch. The menu is easy enough so that a few of us could call in our order at the same time. I volunteered to pick it up. The parking lot is usually a mess, but during lunch, it wasn't bad. Fresh Bites is located near where the old Sweet Home was, in the same building. We ordered a few poke bowls and the nice people working gave us some drinks to try as well! When I got back to work, my coworkers were excited to see me bring them drinks, too, and assumed that I bought it for them. LOL. I corrected them and said the nice people at Fresh Bites included them and my coworkers were really impressed: "they didn't just give YOU one?".....nope, they wanted all of us to try them. I ordered a spicy ahi poke bowl. I got it "cali style" which came with all the extra toppings. The poke was really fresh, the spicy mayo was delicious and I actually liked having the takuan, edamame, and seaweed salad, even though it kinda reminded me of mainland style poke places. The poke bowls might seem a little pricey, but, honestly, they are similar in price to places that use fresh ahi. I'd be back--especially to try the salmon and ikura bowl. read more

We came here on a whim searching for poke bowls when all our favorite spots were closed, and it's now on our list of favorites. The menu is huge and expansive, with lots of different mochi waffle options and many different fish dishes. Everything is very reasonably priced, the fish tastes fresh and is good quality, and the fish slices are way thicker and bigger than I've ever seen, so it's a great value for the price! The place is small and doesn't have a ton of seating, but they have a takeout counter in case you don't want to wait for a table. But it was the matcha waffle that was soooooooo effing good! The waffle is chewy which makes it stay crispy under the toppings! Ube ice cream and honey drizzle and it was delicious! I've been here twice now and both times I was pleased. The first time we went we ate every last bit of our food despite it being a lot. It was delicious! The second time we got two waffle sandwiches. The drinks were still good, but my sando wasn't as good as the other things I've have. Still delicious, though! Don't get me wrong. Went first thing in the morning and got the pork kakuni eggs benny. The pork had great flavor and was super tender. The waffle was a bit soggy and not as crunchy but thats to be expected since the pork had sauce and made the waffle a little soggy. The waffle itself was pretty standard. We tried the pastrami mochi waffle sandwich, smoked salmon eggs benedict, and their matcha waffle with assorted fruits and ube icecream. I really enjoyed the mochi waffle sandwich. The consistency was chewy and not heavy considering mochi is heavy. It was a little sweet however with the pastrami, it was the perfect combination. My friend really enjoyed her benedict as well. The matcha waffle was good but the star of the show were our savory dishes. Staff are friendly and patient. The cook came out and even asked us for our honest opinions regarding the food. Prices are reasonable as well. They do offer coupons from time to time but from now until September 30 they're offering 20% off (except on fish items) for their one year anniversary. Came during their anniversary celebration for brunch with a friend. Decided on their mochi waffle Benedict which was a total hit for me. The mochi waffle was so chewy and sweet. Having it paired with the pork belly and egg gave it a nice sweet and salty flavor. The tots it came with were also good too. We also got a sushi plate which had garlic salmon and hamachi, and spicy ahi inari. Only knocking a star because my matcha latte was really powdery and had clumps of matcha stuck together. This is a delicious little place tucked into the little mall across from old Stadium Park. It is only open for breakfast and lunch, and one of ITS big draws is its waffles. You can get them with traditional, breakfast, toppings, or lunch waffle, as I did, with Kahlúa, pig and avocado. Extremely delicious! It was mochi waffle so it was substantial enough to hold up under the food, and the whole presentation was elevated with thinly sliced onions sprinkled with fine pepper. I wish I had taken a better picture to share. I would definitely order this again. Not for nothing, it was a half waffle piled with meat and avocado, so for me. It was the perfect size for lunch. Gigantic appetites might want to look for something else. My friend had a do it yourself poke bowl, which she loved. I usually don't get the drinks at these lunch places because they're usually something horrible like iced tea made from a powdered mix, but they had a number of creative and fresh drinks on the menu. I had the honey lemonade with calamansi. It was fresh and sweet, not bitter and boxed. I would probably also get one of their fun drinks again. The place is small and very clean. Honestly, it's such a shame given how beautiful the restaurant is and how carefully crafted the food seems to be ... the customer service brings their rating to 3 stars. I visited Fresh Bites for the first time yesterday and ordered a Vietnamese cold brew. The cashier was struggling a bit but I remained patient. I paid with cash. She was short on change, so I let her know it was okay. She didn't acknowledge what I said (maybe she didn't hear) but gave me a couple cents short. I was okay with it though I found it strange that she didn't say anything about it or suggest I pay with card ... oh well. I brushed it off. The Vietnamese cold brew is good for people who like condensed milk. It was a bit sweet and not as strong as I'd like but it was still good. Today, I visited once again with my boyfriend. We ordered 2 iced oatmilk vanilla lattes. We clarified that they were both made with oatmilk several times. We also ordered the mochi waffle dogs (sausage ones). The cashier, who had red hair and glasses, seemed miserable or stressed -- which I originally empathized with until she was unpleasant with me. There were two older women ahead of me who were waiting on a table. Instead of communicating to these ladies to wait on the side or alerting me that she was ready to take her order, the cashier just stared ahead at me, looking annoyed. I took it upon myself to ask the ladies if they were okay with me ordering, as they were standing right in front of the cashier. They said yes and moved to the side. I ordered and waited patiently for my drinks and food. While waiting, I noticed the red-haired girl and someone who seemed like a manager or the owner did a lot of the work. The other workers looked confused and weren't very helpful. Unfortunately, though the red haired girl seemed efficient and hardworking, she wasn't nice/friendly to customers. Very monotoned and annoyed in her demeanor. The other workers weren't service forward either. The business is cute and fairly new, but so far from efficient. The worker who handed my boyfriend and I our drinks again confirmed "both with oatmilk, right?" to which we nodded our heads. My drink was sickly sweet but I wasn't gonna complain or dock the review stars because that could be an issue of my preference. My boyfriend agreed that his drink (which was supposed to be just like mine) was too sweet. I took a sip of his. Turns out his was made with oatmilk and the one I took was made with what seemed to be a sweetened/flavored SOY milk. At that point, I was already frustrated and didn't think it was worth telling the staff -- especially given it was pretty busy. I went home and doctored my drink. No big deal. The mochi waffle dogs were pretty good and at a fair price. One lady came up to us and said "your order is ready," but failed to indicate where we were to pick it up ... she just walked away. Overall, I don't know if I'll go back to this place as I've witnessed and personally experienced bad customer service. I think this place is still worth a shot as they are figuring things out and staff members are undergoing training.
