I found this place away from Waikiki area where breakfast/brunch places are usually very busy. I saw their menu has a lot of good and healthy options so came here to try. We ordered Smoked Salmon with Avocado spread, Breakfast Toast and the Signature Matcha Mochi Waffle. Wow, I am craving for this food while writing this review!Lol The foods are healthy and delicious! 1st of all this place was very good in their poke bowl. Shout out to my friend Paul C. For posting pictures about their sushi platter that he orders. My husband ask me the million dollar question everyday what do you want to eat for lunch. He mentioned since we were in the ala moana he said lets try the place fresh bites. Located across the street from the old stadium park on king street. Park the car and walked in. There's seats for dine in. We sat down and the server came with menus. I knew i wanted a poke bowl so I did order the sashimi bowl with ahi, salmon, and hamachi and small amount of ikura on top the rice. My husband ordered the salmon ikura bowl. Came in around 10:30 and we were the only ones there. Very bright and clean inside. Service was friendly and quick. We ordered the smoke salmon waffle sandwich. Was delicious and came with a small side salad. Portion size was on the smaller side, especially for a grown man. Also ordered the okyakidon with my egg well done. The beef was good and flavorful. Mochi waffle was soft and not gritty, the eggs Benedict was perfectly cooked, warm and gooey, the hollandaise was white which made it lighter on the stomach. The food was great! I got the spicy ahi poke and beef sukiyaki mix plate. I'm not the biggest fan of spicy ahi because I don't like mayonnaise but this one hit differently! The restaurant is really small only about five tables, but it wasn't very busy. It was a little warm because the sun was shining in through the big windows but they were nice and put the shades down. It was really hard for me to find the place because it doesn't have a big sign with its name like the other businesses, you just have to find the papers on the window that say "Fresh Bites". When I decided to celebrate Mother's Day 2023 by eating in versus dining out, I was debating what to get and from where. I have tasted the difference in food quality when ordering carryout instead of dining in. I wanted to supplement the dinner menu with food that would still taste good by taking out. I was scrolling on my cell and then came across Fresh Bites (FB) IG recent post on sushi platters. I just went for Omakase sushi earlier in the week with some foodie friends so although I wasn't craving for sushi, my family would probably appreciate it. But to be on the safe side, I texted my family of my sushi proposal and all gave thumbs up. I went online trying to research a list of FB's sushi platters but didn't see the photo I saw on Yelp nor on their website. I ended up calling FB and the staff asked which platter I wanted and when I explained what I saw on IG, she asked me for the alpha numeric combination where I clearly didn't know. I ended up explaining "1 column each of Hamachi and salmon nigiri, with a column of spicy ahi bomb. Both ends have California roll." She then blurted some alpha numeric combination to me that got me lost. I then had to re-iterate what I saw on IG, and she confirmed yes. I submitted my order for 1 platter for pick-up on Mother's Day. However, my sister advised the increased number of attendees and feared not having enough food, so I called back FB again requesting for another identical platter. To be safe, I repeated exactly what I saw on the IG post and the staff blurted out an alpha numeric combination. I couldn't confirm that alpha numeric combination because I have nothing as reference, so I ended up repeating the exact description of the sushi platter. On Mother's Day, my part-time job kept me behind schedule, so I ended up not going home to wash up and ended up driving directly to Von's Downtown and FB to pick up food. When I arrived at FB, it was just a few mins before my stated time and my platters were already waiting for me. It took some time to pay as one of the staff was tied up with a phone order and the other staff couldn't ring me up. I was first impressed with the presentation as clearly the platter was exactly how it was advertised. I paid and drove off. THE VERDICT Family members just raved over this sushi platter. They were impressed with the variety and presentation. Some noticed dark bloodlines on some of the Hamachi nigiri, where this taste is not for everyone. I am glad I got 2 platters as clearly 1 platter was not enough for 6 adults. Overall, a very pleasant experience with FB's sushi platters. However, I wish I could have easily found a list of their sushi platter with alpha numeric codes and their prices. This was indeed a crowd favorite and wouldn't hesitate to order this again. NOTE: I ended up finding an old post on FB's IG posts as this platter is P14 at $65.95 each. I wish they would post a complete sushi platter list on Yelp as well as on their website. read more

I saw this on Instagram and had the chance to try while in town for the morning. This spot is real easy to find. Just drive down S. King Street and turn left into a private parking lot with the Kozo Sushi. Please be careful of bicyclists in the bike lane. First hour of parking is free. After that must pay through Parklinq app. The spot is popular because I walked in at 9:30 and there were already a party of five celebrating an occasion and two others waiting for take out. I was in the mood for a lox bagel. So I got in line and ordered a smoked salmon waffle sandwich for $13.95 and a Lemon Calamansi green tea for $5.50. I had just red onions and avocado spread on my sandwich. And get this, the waffle was made of mochi! The sandwich was really delicious and hit the spot. Only thing though was I'm stoney baloney and still hungry. Oh well, that just means that I have an excuse to come back with a friend and try other items on the menu! The place is clean and bright. Came here for the first time for a post-Hapalua Half Marathon treat and I came to the right place! Since it was a Sunday and before the lunch rush, we had no problems finding parking and a table. This place is small and seating is very limited (maybe 3 2-tops and 2 four-tops?). We saw the Cheap Eats special on Fresh Bites and immediately bookmarked it as the place to go the next time we were in town. We dined in for lunch on Wednesday. Service was prompt and extremely polite. We ordered a bevy of dishes since I had to try some of the yummy things I saw on TV! I had a Mac nut latte which was delicious and fairly priced at $3.95. We also ordered the fresh spicy ahi wonton salad served with sesame dressing. The fish was so fresh and creamy - delicious! The absolutely best bite was the kakuni pork eggs benedict. The pork was so tender and sweet and was the perfect accompaniment to the mochi waffle which was the base of the benedict. How creative! I couldn't get enough of this dish! My son had the udon noodles which also came with a kakuni pork rice bowl, and hubby had the Canadian bacon eggs benny, and a hot matcha green latte. It consists of Ahi, Salmon, Hamachi Sashimi, Tako, and Ikura. Everything was fresh and very tasty. The quality was superb, and it did reflect the price. A4 - Beef Sukiyaki with 2 pieces of Hamachi Nigiri $14.95. It had the perfect amount of sweetness with a nice savory taste. The Hamachi Nigiri was slightly firm with the right amount of rice, so good! Later, we ordered the Matcha Waffle with Ube and fruits $11.95. I got to say, it was super good. It came stuffed with a good amount of smoked salmon, sprouts, avocado, onions encased in slices of mochi waffle. It also came with greens with a vinaigrette dressing. The waffle was soft and limp. I expect waffles to have somewhat a crunch to it. The mochi texture was nice and chewy but it was just too soft for my liking. There was seared salmon, unagi (eel), masago, avocado on top of rice. On top of that sat a perfectly round soft poached egg. A very pretty presentation! I don't like runny whites at all. I probably shouldn't have gotten it in retrospect. But a lot of people would probably like it more than I did. If you know where the old Sweet Home Cafe was, then you'll know where to find Fresh Bites. We ordered the Pastrami Beef Waffle Sandwich along with the Portuguese Sausage Benedict. There's just something about a freshly homemade mochi waffle that takes the meal to the next level. I personally enjoyed the benedict because when that runny egg yolk hit the bordelaise sauce on top of that semi-sweet waffle, it was a melt in your mouth moment! And that's saying something because I despise runny egg yolks. I did a phone order before I came, so that it was ready by the time I picked it up. At the time that we went, they looked a little frantic/hectic, though there were only 2 others, waiting for their order. From what I've seen, they make their orders to order to ensure freshness so the wait might be a little bit. I haven't had the chance to try any of their sushi or poke bowls just yet. I had never heard of this eatery before, but the photos and reviews looked solid, and I happened to be in the area so I decided to check it out. They're located in a strip off of King St., although the restaurant is not visible from King St. You have to drive in and then you'll see their bright green & white sign. Parking is available in the shared lot, but I can see how it can fill up quickly. I arrived around lunchtime and was surprised that there was only one other couple there. It's a very small eatery with only several tables inside, so I assume that most of the orders must be take-out. The inside is green and they have a cute Hawaiian mural painted on their wall. They have a creative menu filled with breakfast and lunch items such as mochi waffles, poke bombs, hot donburi bowls, poke bowls, etc. I decided on the California Don for $15.95, which came with salmon, avocado, tempura flakes & nori with a mayo aioli on top of a bed of rice. It was very delicious, with all of the flavors blending nicely together. I thought that the price was a bit high though, because essentially it's just a poke bowl. Customer service was lacking when I first arrived. I stood there for several minutes waiting to place my order. A staff member was making a poke bowl and saw me waiting, but didn't acknowledge me. The lack of customer service at restaurants irks me to no end. There are so many choices - why wouldn't you be friendly to the customers who choose to patronize your business?
