I've been meaning to go here for awhile now and finally arrived yesterday. Bought a selection of items including the twice-baked chocolate almond croissant, kouign amann, savory pithivier, a chocolate almond and a green tea tea cookie. Let's start with the twice baked chocolate almond croissant. I gave it 15 seconds in the microwave and it was delicious. Can't say it differs much from Bakery Nouveau though except for the shape. The amann was buttery and had great flavor, but the lamination of the pastry wasn't quite what I would have liked. I've seen twice as many air pockets and layers at another patisserie in Phinney Ridge. As far as the tea cookies, even though they felt soft to the touch, they tasted dry, if you can figure that one out. I couldn't discern the almond at all in the chocolate almond cookie and I wish they had used a chocolate with greater depth. The green tea cookie was for me much too strong. I like green tea but I'm sorry, this cookie tasted like a cross between seaweed and fish water. I tried another bite maybe 15 minutes later and thought the same thing. Such a shame because the cookies were absolutely beautiful in shape and color. The most unfortunate was the savory pithivier. Since I was doing this Yelp review, I pulled apart the two halves to see the filling inside. This particular croissant is filled with italian sausage, leek, onion, mushroom and mozzarella. As a picture shows, there was barely a scant tablespoon of filling. So, so disappointing. I could tell before I pulled it apart that this was probably going to be the case because the pastry felt so light. Also, it was nearly a puree of all of these things versus a nice dice inside the wonderful croissant dough. Not worth the $4.25 whatsoever unless they were to put two more tablespoons of filling inside to make it worth the money. I would go back to try different things, but I wouldn't race back. Also didn't know it was a chain so perhaps that may have some basis for why things weren't exceptional. read more

We walked here with the dog and kids. No dogs are allowed inside. We sat outside and the staff dried off the furniture because it had recently rained. Overall, great food, coffee, and service. Kids loved it. I loved it. Definitely coming back. read more

I stopped in today after having it on my to-do list for quite a while. I had checked their online ordering tool before going in to make sure they had something I'd want; many of their pastries were not available, but I went in anyway. No tables inside, not sure if they had them before COVID or not, so please take your stuff and go. If you'd like, there's a small courtyard you may sit in outside if you'd like. Behind a half-wall, pastry chefs are hard at work to make all sorts of delicious goodies steps away in a space much larger than the actual storefront. I ordered a 16oz mocha and an almond croissant, which was a little over $10. The mocha wasn't the best I've ever had, but was a touch above average. Where I fell hard and fast though was the almond croissant. Covered in powdered sugar, this sizable, flakey delight had the perfect amount of shaved almonds and almond goo, and was such perfection that it has now set bar high for all future almond croissants to live up to. I would say this visit was really more of a 3.5 star trip, but that's not an option. The croissant was easily worth 5 stars, but the mocha was average and, while the staff were friendly, they didn't do anything to write home about. read more

WOW this bakery is amazing!!! I had the best almond croissant of my life here. It was perfectly flaky and you could see the butter in between its layers!! Absolutely going to be back to have it again, and to try more of their pastries! I also got an iced oat milk mocha which was also delicious!! I was super excited to go here since I work so close by. It was super cute inside and super busy and I was thrilled to see they had macaroons. Which is a personal favorite of mine. I was impressed with the over all ambience and the delicious looking pastries! I was a little bummed over the wait because there was only one girl working and probably should have been 2 people working. When I got back to my office I started eating my macaroons. I got a 6 pack with 6 different flavors. The packaging was cute! And they gave me a little card with the flavors on it so I would it forget. But I was pretty sad when I bit into the coconut one and found a hair that was like imbedded in the cookie itself. I ended up throwing away the whole box because I was grossed out. read more

Delicious combination of flavors in a pastry. It hit the spot for me in the morning- the dough was flakey enough only made a bit of mess with each bite. Currently can't sit in restaurant, though has some outside seating, but isn't great for rainy days. read more

The staff is always friendly. The dog is always welcome. The patio is comfortable. The pastries are BOMB. Basque Cake or Pecan Croissant for sugary treats, but the Pithivier is my true favorite. Butter and carmelized onions and sausage inside a perfect flaky crisp puff pastry shell. So so delicious. read more

4.5 stars! Someone told me that this place makes matcha muffins and I immediately made the trip here. This is a super cute bakery/cafe in White Center and they make amazing pastries! I went early in the morning before work to pick up some matcha muffins and other goodies. There was a lady ahead of me who bought two boxes full of delicious looking pastries. She literally bought one of everything! I was worried there wouldn't be any left for me! I picked up the last two matcha muffins plus an almond croissant and a black sesame cookie and a matcha cookie. And also a matcha latte. (I really really like matcha!) The pastries were delicious! The matcha muffins was yummy and not dry at all and it had adzuki beans in it too, which was a nice addition. My coworkers really liked the muffins too. The almond croissant was amazing. I devoured that one. And the cookies were good too. Shortbread style but with plenty of flavor. Everything was tasty and I'm sure that their other pastries are just as good. I can't wait to go back and try more. Service was friendly and the place looked good for hanging out to study or work or just read a good old fashioned book. I want more matcha!!! read more

Honestly, one of my favorite places. I love their espresso and chai. They have a specialty pastry that I can't shout out because it sells out fast. This place is AMAZING. I come to the Fresh Flours in White Center every morning for my 12 oz latte and occasionally I get biscotti. I am very picky about my biscotti, and Fresh Flours never disappoints! Their biscotti is the perfect texture, and the perfect flour to nut ratio. I always bring my dog, Cleo. They keep treats inside for dogs which Cleo sniffed out immediately. She is always excited to come along and visit Fresh Flours with me. There is an outdoor seating area in the back. The employees are truly amazing. I don't know how they do it-they're constantly insanely busy, especially now with online ordering. They're still very nice to people like me who refuse to order online and walk in to order. One girl always recognizes us and says hi. Cleo always loves the employees, especially when they come out from the counter to say a special hello to her. I don't generally order a pastry, but I have tried the red bean and green tea muffin, as well as the chocolate croissant, and there are no words to express how amazing they were. Based off of the London fog I ordered it was good, not too sweet with a bit of vanilla. There's a vast variety of bakery goods to choose from. I love supporting local coffee shops within my area as long as they make good coffee lol. This gem is literally right down the street from my house and I'm ecstatic! Finally found a great coffee shop that doesn't make diluted $5 coffee and not only that, they make their pastries in-house! You can find double baked almond croissants, macarons, etc. I read reviews that their coffee is served using stumptown so I ordered the vanilla latte. For a 12oz. vanilla latte it was $4.44. It was really flavorful, bold and had a hint of vanilla (not overly sweet whenever you order syrup to your latte). I'll have to try their pastries next time when I'm not in a rush. Hope to be back soon! Oh and a note: they do have punch cards too so don't miss out on getting rewarded for your drink purchase. 10 gets you something free! read more

(NOTE: THIS REVIEW BASED ON A VISIT DURING THEIR 'SOFT OPENING') The fourth location of a successful chain of coffee shops that started in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood, Fresh Flours has opened a new location in White Center That's right. White. Center. You know, 'Rat City'. Da hood. Crazy, or crazy like a fox? I'm leaning toward the latter. THE ROSES: Located on Delridge Way about a block north of Roxbury, FF is delightfully clean and tidy. The open concept allows patrons a look into their large bakery area, where the staff makes all sorts of baked goods for this store and their other locations. The display area is chock-full of very nice looking sweet and savory baked goods, and the counter is well-staffed with pleasant and efficient people. The coffee drinks are acceptable (pretty middle-of-the road, no artsy barista work that I could see, but the coffee's just fine), and the baked goods on offer were very good. We tried the macrons, shortbread, and quiche, and all very very fresh and tasty. The quiche was a particular standout, featuring a light flaky crust, and a fluffy egg and artichoke filling. THE THORNS: Seating are is a bit on the small side, and the display case is a little small, compared to peers such as Bakery Nouveau. Apparent lack of heating in the public space made it a bit chilly this particular Spring morning, which was not helped by the staff's insistence on blocking the door open. Lack of forks forced us to eat our quiche with fingers and knife (NOTE: Once again, this location is brand new, and this was a 'soft opening'; this sort of thing is to be expected) THE VERDICT: For a soft opening, this Fresh Flours location came off surprisingly well. FF is to be commended for opening a location in what has been a rather troubled outer neighborhood in the Seattle area. However, as skyrocketing housing prices drive more people to explore and develop what were once marginal sections of town (like the Central District), FF's decision to expand here may well prove to be a very prescient and profitable decision indeed! Bakery Nouveau - quality baked goods without having to fight the long lines and crowds of West Seattle hipsters. By all means check them out! read more

Cardamom chai! This is the first cafe away from the Beacon Hill location I'd tried and noticed the cardamom chai sticker applied to the board menu. Not a second earlier I'd also glanced upon some mahogany chai bags on the shelf. My interest thoroughly piqued, I further asked about their chai options. The menu board indicates the regular chai, Evergreen (spicy ginger flavor - very decent), while the sticker cardamom chai is for Three Tree Teas Company chai blend. When they said they'd had it for a long time, I was like - inside - "whaaaaat?" Later I re-read the packaging and, while it doesn't appear to list anything organic, it appears to be a super quality product (no crap additives, etc) and created by longtime locals. Did I mention the cardamom chai? Oh my goodies. Just that amazing spice - and not just pepper/ginger spice (which I also love), but I loved the pleasantly balanced dominance from the cloves which is super rare in chai. Where. Have. You. Been. All. My. Life. It must've been the elusive social media, lol. Ah yes, back to the cafe. I can imagine the western afternoon sunshine must be quite pleasant emitting its rays upon the vintage brick & mortar facade. The stamped/painted signage is a neat classic touch, too. The open-concept bakery in the back is cool. Cool, comfortable and welcoming. Very pleasant staff, as well. Standard offerings. The lone vegan cookie and bar are always tasty in their own ways. I pass Fresh Flours almost everyday as i live a couple of blocks away and have always been curious, so this week I finally decided to go in, and I'd have to say the pastry sold me. I had a croissant and the green tea cookie. Both were good. Not exactly i must have it every day good but not bad. Staff was inviting but the place is very small. They do have an outdoor patio but this is seattle so that it's only good some days during the summer. Their parties goes half off at 3pm but they don't last long so come early. They close fairly early at 4pm and that threw me off guard. read more

It's so nice to finally have a Japanese bakery on this side of Seattle! I do wish they would sell shokupan, and perhaps Melon-pan. Having just matcha & azuki muffins and loaves is not enough. The Euro-style pastries are excellent. I shared a twice-baked almond choco croissant with a friend and he believes it tops Bakery Nouveau - which is great because that saves us a 10 min drive to the Junction for our snack fix. I'm not a fan of Stumptown beans but gave their latte a shot. Will stick to tea from now on. I hope this bakery sticks around for a long time. Updated to add: tried the London Fog with soy milk. I adore this place and stop by 2-4 times every week. The pastries and drinks are to die for. My favorites are the twice baked chocolate almond croissant, the kouighn aman, the raspberry bun, and the coconut oat cookie, but literally everything is tasty. The real draw though is the staff. These guys will daily have a line out the door and are in there working like gangbusters. They always recognize me and know my drink order, they know my young son and are always so sweet with him, and always do an exceptional job, even when the rush seems super stressful. Special shout out to Damon who has been really sweet connecting with my son and who takes time to answer detailed questions about ingredients whenever I ask. I have been meaning to try Fresh Flours and its SLU location has been bookmarked on Yelp for months. Having seen the line at the newly opened 85 degrees bakery and cafe in Tukwila, I wasn't brave to wait in line for baked goods with Asian flavor profiles in pouring rain. I hopped in my car and made the excursion to White Center for a taste of green tea, azuki bean, and black sesame-flavored baked goods. Upon arriving at the location, I was happy to see cafe seating and people taking their coffee and muffins for here, rather than to- go. That's always a good sign of how welcome patrons feel at an establishment, and gives me a sense of community. There was one barista on-hand, and she was taking orders, pressing panini sandwiches, and making coffee drinks on her own. It took a while to place an order, but the transaction went smoothly. I opted to try one each of the green tea and black sesame tea cookies, which reminded me of shortbread cookies chock-full of black sesame seeds and green tea flavor. Unfortunately, in spite of the very appealing presentation, the cookies were stale. The cookies had lost their freshness, and this offset the experience for me. Many of the baked goods and paninis are not contained within a glass case at this location of Fresh Flours. I had expected the goods to be for display only, but the staff pulled directly from the display. Overall, this bakery offers a wide variety of baked goods that stray, in a good way, from the standard fare we expect at bakeries. I recommend coming earlier in the day for optimal freshness. read more

Fresh Flours has a really cool spot here, with its location right on the edge of the edgy White Center and the really cool intersection it sits on. As a Southern California native, I didn't get to see such curious looking intersections. The baked goods from Fresh Flours are clearly what they are known for. This place is great for a nice espresso, but their tasty and varied pastry selection is where it's at! They also welcome well behaved doggos in their outdoor seating area behind the cafe. It's pretty tight inside (no seating) and it can get busy. So plan to sit outside or take it to go. read more
