Freshii made my day twice, in one week! Yay! Service: very friendly staff. The first time the cashier wanted to start a conversation with me and it was super nice because most skyway restaurants don't do this, especially during rush hours. The second time we came, they gave us a second green smoothie on the house. Lovely! Food: fresh salads and delicious smoothies. Disappointing for now. This "better for you," fresh ingredients quick-serve location features salads, wraps, rice bowls & soups. But the food just doesn't deliver. My co-workers and I decided to give this place a whirl last week, but we were all disappointed in the quality of the food & portions. It was over-priced for the amount of food you get. Adding meat to just about anything puts you in the $10-12 range. Veggies were rotting in our salads. Wraps weren't assembled correctly and fell apart when you tried to eat them. Soups were cold and bland. Freshii is a franchise location that just opened a few weeks ago at Gaviidae Common on the 2nd floor. Really wanted to love this place with it's fresh ingredients and made-to-order salads/sandwiches, but there are just so many other (better) options in the skyway system. You are better off heading to SIMPLS or People's Organic for better food. My gut is the owner of this franchise is likely new to the gig and needs to work with staff on food quality, prep and execution. read more

I ordered the Buhdda Satay. I asked for the sauce on the side as it said spicy and holy crap I am glad I did that because it was insane spicey. Overall I thought it was kind of blah. Even with the spicy sauce. My friend ordered the Chili and she said it was ok. We also ordered a gluten free carrot cake which was actually pretty dang good. ] I've also had the banana nut smoothie. This place is overpriced for the quality and over-hyped. The nice website and descriptions of the food suck you in but the experience and the quality are somewhat disappointing. The noodles for the Buddha Bowl were too hard and borderline inedible but that might have been the employees fault. I personally would not order it again. The Baja Burrito was decent and the quinoa made it memorable and unique but it was close to $10. It's healthy since it's not made of white tortilla so I guess that's a nice plus if you're trying to trim belly fat. Overall, I probably won't come here again but wanted to try it since it's a new place downtown that's close to my office. One of my favorite lunch places downtown! The line is never too long even during lunch rush, so this is a good place if you're in need of fresh food fast. This is definitely a space designed for to-go diners as there is very little seating. The staff are so friendly and always initiate conversation, which I appreciate. The first time I went I tried the Teriyaki Twist bowl with chicken, and I loved it so much I have never tried anything else (I'm guilty of doing this as most restaurants!). It has a delicious mixture of veggies, crispy wonton strips, and a wonderfully salty soy dressing. I am not sure how healthy this particular bowl is, so I eat this as a special occasion treat. When I go with friends they usually choose a healthier option, and there is something here for everyone. The portions are huge and feel worth the price (typical $8-$10 downtown lunch price). As someone that works in Downtown Minneapolis, food can sometimes either be too pricey, or its just flat out garbage. And when i need to grab something on the go thats also easy on the pallet and soul, Freshii has satisfied every single time. Their TexMex Burrito is a must and their smoothies are great too. For what its worth and the integrity that goes behind every ingredient, its worth the $ and quite a bit of food if you have the appetite. Freshii mostly sucks and does not live up to its name. I've been there on three occasions because I work in the skyway and I really want to like it, but it is consistently disappointing. I have ordered a salad, a wrap, and a bowl, and everything comes in under-seasoned and with greens that are past their prime. Today I ordered the Mediterranean bowl: the quinoa is completely without any seasoning, the red peppers are exceptionally slimey, and the greens are slimey to the point that when I try to remove the leaves they disintegrate in my fingers. When I was given a bowl that had a red sauce dripping down the side I was told, "Sorry it's kind of messy - the sauce was running out so I had to shake it out of the bottle." ????? There are also far better juices and smoothies available in the skyway. I reserve 1-star reviews for places I would sprint away from if spotted from afar, but I do have to say that with the exception of the messy bowl incident, the staff has always been friendly and competent and the place is super clean. If you're looking for a salad, go to Sprout or Green & the Grain for better quality ingredients that are prepared correctly. I've finally given up on you, Freshii. read more

I had tempered expectations after being let down by Sprout, but this place is great. I highly recommend the hot bowls, especially the Buddhas Satay. Good flavors and diversity of fresh ingredients. And you can add tofu! The reasons I'm not a full five stars are 1) the salads are too small to be a full lunch and 2) they mix the salads in plastic bags. Not only did I watch chunks of salad stick to the sides of the bag and get thrown away, but that's an environmental no-no to use a plastic bag for every salad. I have been eating here at least twice a week since they've opened. However in the past few weeks I've experienced problems almost every time I visit. The last two times I've paid to add chicken, they've forgotten, and I've let it go because I did not have time to return after waiting for my food. Additionally, I've noticed and increasing amount of kale stems that make it almost impossible to enjoy the meal. This afternoon, I pulled a long black hair out of my Oaxaca bowl just a few bites in and had to throw it away. As a plant-based eater, I'm always on the lookout for places that provide good food without relying on animal proteins, and Freshii offers me a number of really tasty options. I love the Oaxaca, Bamboo and Pangoa (skip the cheese and add some beet slaw) bowls. Their fresh squeezed juice is delicious and not a bad price, especially in the downtown area. You can customize flavor combos, so that's especially nice if you're into juicing. When I still ate dairy, I used to love their green smoothie with frozen kefir--it may seem odd being green and having spinach in it, but it is delicious. The only thing I've ever had there I didn't like was one of their soups. It was a little flavorless, but I appreciated all the fresh ingredients, and it was hot (temp-wise) as blazes. I felt a little rushed while placing my order so I hurridly chose a buffalo wrap described as "romaine, blue cheese, cherry tomatoes, carrots, celery, greek yogurt ranch, buffalo sauce". It came in around $10. The others in my group ordered after me, including food and even smooties. We waited for around 15 minutes herded on one side of the "restaurant" with about 10+ other people for our food and drinks. Despite being the first to order in my group, I was the last to receive mine. We chose to dine elsewhere since there were zero seats open and it was so crowded. The wrap I received was not good. It was a lettuce mix, carrots, blue cheese, and buffalo sauce. That's it. Then rolled so poorly in a tortilla that it all came apart after a few bites. I didn't finish it because it was so blah. I realize my order was off but others in my group noted their wraps were bland as well. I used to really like Freshii. It was a filling and healthy meal. However, recently they have begun skimping on the more expensive ingredients in their bowls and wraps, especially protein. On multiple occasions now I have rooted around my bowl to find chicken after my first few bites. And I order DOUBLE chicken! On the plus side their staff is always nice. But I can't go there just for the staff. I need to eat. And when paying for a serving of chicken (much less TWO) I should be able to eat. Especially at 10-11 dollars a meal. read more

So, after looking at the reviews, I still really liked it. My teriyaki veggie bowl was fantastic, and we got a strawberry banana kefir shake, YUM. Our family member's got kefir yogurt, and all of the meal was super filling and healthy. I'll definitely go again, and even though they were closing, they were OK with letting us eat there still.
