Frida's is located in a small strip mall between a tire store and Sizzler. When I asked the fellow at the Napa distillery for a recommendation for Mexican food he said that Frida's was a favorite of several people who worked there. That was a good enough recommendation so off I went to have lunch. The interior is warm and inviting: the wooden tables are covered with colorful serape blankets and topped with hard plastic; there are some large pictures of Frida Kahlo on the walls. I was given a cloth napkin, something that I wish more restaurants would provide. There is also a small full service bar. I ordered the Mexitaco plate. It is served with two deep fried tacos, salad, guacamole, sour cream, rice and refried beans. I chose shredded beef, but you can also have shredded chicken. The meat in the taco was moist and had a lot of flavor. I ate one and started on the other then felt bad about not bringing anything for S. I put the taco with on bite out of it and most of the beans in a box and hoped he was did not want the taco. I was out of luck he ate all. The chips might not have been made in house; there were some colored chips in the basket. The salsa had just a touch of heat. That was fine with me; lately I enjoy salsas that don't numb my taste buds. They have a shelf full of different hot sauces so you can add more kick to the salsa or your food. The bar menu had several interesting cocktails that were tempting, but common sense kicked in. After tasting several brandies I thought that perhaps a margarita might just make me a wee bit tipsy. read more

While waiting for tires to be put on my car I came in to Frida's to hang out... So glad I did! I have a feeling it will be a "regular" for us! The hostess, Virginia, was sooooo sweet! She was very attentive to me and I must say I like to be catered to!! Not too many people in on a Saturday afternoon, but the sunshine is finally out and folks are elsewhere!!! I had fried calamari that was PERFECT! The classic margarita took me back to Cabo! The chips & salsa are awesome!! The salsa had a little kick for me but it ALL tied in together! The service is fast and efficient and it goes down from there. I can't believe how busy this place is, maybe it's the strong drinks? We ordered the tortilla soup, appetizer plater and chimichanga. The Chips are fresh but the salsa is watery and sweet. The rest of the meal is best describe as brutally bland and funny tasting shredded chicken. The decor is pretty plain but it's the food that needs the work. The fried items looks pale blonde and under fried. Downtown service without the price! Don't pass up this local gem. Found this spot after the whole corona virus situation, and I try to come whenever I can. I get the steak nachos and a pineapple margarita everytime. I try to take pictures but it's so good that I always forget. Attn: Breakfast People! Fridas has breakfast every day! I have been twice in the past two weeks. I had breakfast once with my daughter and today by myself. Both visits coincided with Americas Tire Co next door. This place has extremely affordable breakfast with a short wait time. It is not overcrowded like our beloved Buttercream bakery and cafe here in town. Share the love, lose the wait time and go to Fridas for yummy breakfast. If I could give this restaurant a -100 I would! My Family went here after a football game in Napa because of the good reviews. The food was not Terrible But Compared to were we are from it was not even close to as good. The restaurant it self was cluttered and stressful. Our waiter was rude off the bat, I'm unsure why he has chosen customer service as his job of choice or why this restaurant keeps him Employed! My daughter and myself ordered fish tacos. Oh lord just looking at them we were like these are not the fish tacos we are use to. I have a health condition and can't eat flour tortillas and I've never seen tacos served on flour tortillas so there is no way I would have known. I let the waiter know politely I have a health condition and can't have flour Tortillas. My daughter who loves fish took one bite of her fish taco and felt sick. She said mom this fish isn't normal something is wrong with it! Everyone at our table could smell the fish "not in a good way either." The waiter was very rude when we requested to get something different even though I couldn't health wise eat mine even if it was editable. He basically argued with me when I was being as polite as I could be. We were brought our new plates and both the enchilada my daughter got and the steak tacos I got were okay. When we received our bill he kept everything that was ordered even the food I couldn't eat because of a health condition. We just paid to get the heck out of there but they weren't coming to take the payment so we stood up went to the register and requested to pay out bill where our waiter said hold on kept u waiting about 5 minutes when a waitress seen us and came over and helped us. I always tip even if the food isn't great or the waiters/waitresses are that attentive. I think this was maybe the second time as an adult I tipped nothing and felt good about it. Frida's probably has one of the best happy hours around. They make their margaritas homemade, they are incredibly delicious. They are also very strong, so watch out if your driving home from work, you will hands down catch a buzz off two. Their happy hour menu is 5$ Margs, 4$ Beers (they brew their own), and 5$ wine. They have a great food selection too. My favorite are the wings, kinda small, but very tasty. Their nachos are a must try if you enjoy nachos. What I really love best about Frida's is their laid back atmosphere, friendly staff, fresh margaritas, and you'll never stop eating their chips and salsa! We popped in yesterday as an alternative to our usual Napa eatery (which has suffered after its remodel and higher prices), and I'm glad we did. Clean, inviting and authentic. Extensive menu of traditional items, which made ordering challenging since we wanted to try everything. I had street tacos and chicken enchiladas with mole; my wife got a combination of street taco, pork tamale and cheese enchilada with mole. Everything was delicious, but the mole sauce was outstanding! My wife got a free order of guacamole for "checking in" and that, along with the salsa, went well with the freshly-made tortilla chips (perfectly salted BTW). Everything is homemade here, which is obvious when you taste the ingredients and freshness. I had to try the homemade beer when I saw the sign. It is an IPA and was very well made; it hit the spot by itself and with the meal. Service was impeccable, so please remember that with a generous propina. Family-run and in business for 12 years, so they must be doing something right. This is our new go-to Mexican restaurant when we're in Napa; I can't wait to return. read more

Have been here dozens of times over the past 6 years and it has always delicious! The food is clean and flavorful without being greasy. They have the usual Mexican fare along with some unique Frida's only finds and weekly home cooking style specials. The bar side of the restaurant is separate from the family dining area. Its very intimate without being cramped. They have a wide variety of beer wine and liquor but if your a margarita or tequila person, you are with friends at this place. Cadillac margaritas are on point here and in terms of tequila selection, if you can pronounce it they have it for you. Great for a fun light weight date or hang out with friends. read more

Frida Kahlo was one of the most influential Mexican painters of the 20th century, along with her husband Diego Rivera. She counted revolutionary Leon Trotsky, entertainer Josephine Baker, and ranchera singer Chavela Vargas among her lovers. The Mexican Grill named for her is an artsy, artful place filled with her artwork. Their breakfasts are underrated, but, happily, on Memorial Day morning they had lots of people- especially groups. It was nice to see them doing a business (I was surprised by how many people were imbibing alcohol at 9 in the morning). Frida's makes the best chilaquiles in Napa. They're not as pricey as Southside Cafe or 5 Dot Ranch... and they are an excellent deal, along with their coffee. Their fried eggs still have good yolks that run all over their tortilla chips. Their medium salsa roja is kicky enough you don't have to go to their Wall of Flame. The service was surprisingly quick; I remembered to leave a tip. Frida's is an impassioned place. This place just lost 4 customers. We came in to the restaurant for happy hour and were explained by the waitress the happy hour prices are only honors at the bar. We went on to order drinks and food. Other customers were seated on the dining area and offered the happy hour menu. We approached another employee and inquired and he explained they sometimes honor it when customers arrived last minute. I asked about the logic behind happy hour only being honored at the bar again. His answer "I know what you are trying to do" which I found very offensive. My intention was not to be charged less but to understand the logic behind it which I made it very clear. For starters, they've got a great lunch menu and breakfast served all day so I'll definitely come back here again! Frida's is located in a small strip mall near Sizzler. The parking lot is very cramped and narrow so if you can you should opt for street parking instead. I was here for lunch since they were conveniently located down the street from my previous job. The service was great.... but unfortunately I can't say the same about the food. I ordered the traditional taco salad with shredded chicken. The salad is served in a bowl shaped fried flour tortilla with Monterey cheese, pico de gallo, black olives and a creamy tomato dressing. There was way too many black olives for my liking and not enough chicken. The salad was also drenched in the dressing. My suggestion would be to ask for the dressing on the side. I don't think I will be coming back to Frida's for the food since Napa has so many better Mexican restaurants. But I wouldn't say no to their margaritas. read more
