A locals favorite spot. We arrived for lunch though they were still serving breakfasts and were promptly greeted to take a seat anywhere. My plate had a very generous portion of the beef Birria, served with Spanish rice and refried beans that reminded me of my Moms!!! Also served were 4 corn tortillas and plates of white onion fresh cilantro and lime. My husband had the 3 Birria tacos served with a cup of the cooking Birria broth. The restaurant makes you feel like you are sitting in a family diner. The lunch menu was big with everything from hot and cold sandwiches to Mexican plates. The breakfast menu looks to have wonderful omelets and daily specials. Wine and beer served here too. Definitely recommend a stop! read more

I called them on a Saturday around 11am asking if they had pozole. The woman who answered said they did so we headed that way. My partner and I ordered almost immediately two cokes, chips and salsa and two bowls of pozole. Our waitress was nice and brought our drinks and chips pretty quickly. After about 30 minutes with still no food and the place only having two other groups of people that were there when we got there, I started looking at the waitress. She acknowledged me and said our food was on its way. I then watched a man who came long after us receive his omelet with potatoes eat it and get ready to leave... still no food. After 45-50 minutes of waiting for our food I finally just stood up and asked for the check for our drinks and chips. I did note to the waitress that I couldn't fathom what was taking so long to fill two bowls of pozole. I didn't get an answer but she told me not to worry about paying for our drinks. I said I didn't mind paying but she insisted so we just left. I am giving two stars because she handled it decently and the food that did go out looked and smelled good. I wish we would have been able to try it however, we will never go back. If you don't mind waiting an hour in a relatively empty restaurant and still not receive your food this is the place for you! If you actually want to eat a meal don't bother coming here. read more

We had brunch to go there today. It was excellent. I could highly recommend it. We had that I had the eggs Benedict cooked perfectly it came with home fries, which were delicious and fresh fruit. My husband had French toast and a side of sausage before I could ask him if I could taste it it was already gone, so that's telling you something. It was superb I highly recommend it. read more

I've been meaning to go here. This is right next to a Fosters Freeze, Veterinary, and a Jewelers. I'm in Napa, at a Diner again. This Diner looks very classic. I'm here for the Yari's Spinach Frittata with Parmesan Cheese, Hash Browns, Sourdough Toast, and Fried Serrano Chiles. Was this too obvious, of a choice? A Frittata is similar to an Omelette, Quiche, Gyeran-jjim, or Tamagoyaki. It's the same concept, but different execution. The texture of the Frittata was good. The Fried Serrano Chiles gave it enough heat. The Hash Browns were one of the better Hash Browns I've had. The addition of the Green Jalapeño Pepper Sauce from Arizona was pleasant. Since it's located in a shopping center, it isn't your big metallic retro diner. There isn't much if any outdoor seating but plenty of indoor seating with tables, booths, and a full-length bar. Most tables are evenly spaced, and the employees were all wearing masks. It's your basic small-town diner. Coffee: The coffee was brewed hot and fresh with nothing much of note. They gave me the to-go cup in a drink up with a soda style lid, which I found comical. Food: The Emmy Lou's Diner menu has everything you can imagine for a small-town diner. Since it's only until 2 pm, it serves both breakfast and lunch. There are breakfast options like steak and eggs, pancakes, and biscuits and gravy. For lunch, they have options like chicken fajitas, sandwiches like a BLT, and even items like chicken parmigiana. If you are looking for a classic diner meal, Emmy Lou's Diner has it all. I wouldn't come looking for healthy choices, although they do have a few salads including a chicken ceaser and Chinese chicken. When I got there, the soup special was lentil my favorite. I would have ordered that had I known! You can see the full menu here. I was in the mood for biscuits and gravy, which I haven't had for a while. It seems like a lot of NJ diners didn't have them. The biscuits and gravy came with eggs, and I chose scrambled. I was impressed with the large portions of biscuits and gravy, but the gravy was a little thinner and more watery than I prefer. Other than that, the entire meal was good. Service: Everyone at Emmy Lou's Diner was wearing a mask, and I felt safe the entire time. The staff was extremely friendly and my food was ready when I got there. I have no complaints. Cost: $$ For my coffee, biscuits and gravy, and eggs, it was $17.95. It was a lot more expensive than I was expecting. Overall Thoughts/Would I Come Back? I liked Emmy Lou's Diner, and it's a good diner in Napa. It's definitely on the more expensive side of meals, but it's safe, and the food is good. I would love to try some of their lunch options too.  I love the local feel to it. read more

If you want a small town restaurant where you see familiar community faces then this is your place. My family has been a regular for several years. Well it is said that "time heals all wounds" but that certainly didn't apply to our stop at Emmy Lou's this morning. We stopped comming here because the money spent on meals was not giving us what we were looking for. Service is good enough and the coffee passes but the food is either very bland or put together by someone who is not well versed on being a short order cook. Chicken fried steak was over cooked, gravy was sweet with the texture of unincorporated flour, no "country" to the taste. Biscuit looked to have been fresh at some point but a warm uip in the micro turned it into a hockey puck. Hash brown were cooked to a tea but served just warm. Wife's Chili Rellajno omlet was OK by her but nothing to keep you a return customer. It will be the last trip to Emmy Lou's for some time. Because it's local we'll give it a go again in another 6-8 months. Spending $50.00 on breakfast for two should be enjoyable. This was not. read more

First of all, I should have listened to the reviews. I had to say out loud a few times I never received my drink. The food was awful. Home potatoes were bland and had no flavor. The bacon was bad. I ordered French toast and it was the worst I've ever had. I'm not sure what flavor it was but it was something I've never had before and I immediately spit out the first bite. I did not touch anymore of my food, and the other guests barely touched theirs. The server came by and didn't ask why I pushed my food aside, just smiled and said she was glad we were happy. Confusing. She finally took our almost full plates asking if we needed anything ended. We didn't want to say anything because we've all been in the service industry but usually when your table leaves almost all their food on their plates and says their done you ask if everything's alright. $70 for 3 people and terrible food is not worth it. read more

Where do I start. It's been awhile since we have eaten at Emmy Lou's. Portions were fine. Food was typical breakfast quality. Bacon, eggs and potatoes. 4 other customers when we entered. By time we got our food about 20 min later there were only 2 people left. Service was poor took another 15 min sitting staring at the staff to get our check. This used to be a 5 star restaurant. Definitely has gone downhill. The restaurant at the other end of the shopping center was packed. I hope they improve. read more

We were in Napa this weekend to visit family. We were staying in a hotel with overpriced food and horrible service, so we ventured out on Saturday morning to find breakfast. We found Emmy Lou's and decided to try it. We were not disappointed! It was so enjoyable, we went back on Sunday for more! First of all, the service is very friendly and quick. The place was run by a great group of ladies and overseen by Ruben the owner, who came out and said hello to us and a few others during our visit. The food was above average for a very simple meal: eggs cooked to perfection, thick-cut meaty bacon, crispy hash browns, and perfectly toasted sourdough bread. We ordered a side of gravy both days and it was much better on Saturday, because it was thicker. Sunday, it was a bit watery. Coffee is nothing to write home about, but it's hot and fresh. Just coffee. Nothing wrong with that! During our visit, the staff all wore masks and the people dining were socially distanced. There were a couple of tables available out front on the sidewalk, but it is located in a strip mall and it was cold, so that wasn't appealing . I would definitely recommend this place if you want an enjoyable simple breakfast with friendly service. Overall, very lovely small town diner. read more

My wife and I wanted to find a new breakfast spot in town after being disappointed in one of the newer places, and our refusal to do business with a certain three. We've both lived in Napa for many years, but surprisingly neither of us had ever been to Emmy Lou's. The inside is bright and colorful and clean, and has a real 'old Napa' vibe. A pair of ceiling fans adds a nice look and feel. There's a cute wine bar in one corner. A majority of the tables were full but we were greeted right away by a very friendly server who pointed us to a table up front. My linguica and eggs was very good. My wife got a scramble that was on the specials menu that had onions, mushrooms, spinach and ham (substituted at my wife's request for the ground beef shown on the menu). It was outstanding! We both got home fries, but next time we'll get either hash browns or biscuits, as the home fries were kind of bland. Other meals coming out of the kitchen looked really good too, especially the eggs Benedict that was also on the specials menu today. Although many locals LOVE this place, I just can't seem to find anything on their menu that makes me want to go back. Their corned beef hash did not appear to be freshly made but had consistency of coming out of a can and tasted weird. The eggs weren't to my request either. I ordered my eggs over medium and my egg whites were still runny. My daughter ordered hers over easy and the yolks were all cooked. The only ones they got right were the ones ordered sunny side up by our group. The gravy was nothing to write home about either. read more

Had brunch today at Emmy Lou's Diner. Decided to sit at the diner counter (bar). Started with coffee. The specials for the day were Chili Relleno Omelette and Eggs Benedict. I opted for the Chili Relleno Omelette. I chose hash browns and sour dough toast. Didn't have to wait long for my meal to arrive. The plate was warmed, which really appeals to me. The Omelette was excellent. The spiciness was just enough... not over the top. I never thought about combining chili relleno with omelette, but this really works well. Wait staff was friendly and fast on the coffee refills, which I really like. I don't think my cup was ever empty. Thanks Emmy Lou's staff. I'll be back. read more

I didn't realize it was so special it would magically change price right before our eyes.. The waitress walked over, and changed it on the big board behind the counter, and then on our ticket, AFTER I ordered.. I guess they needed the dollar more than me. SO I mentioned it to the owner, and he shrugged. Nice. The portions are so small, for the price, and basically have no flavor at all! I took a pic of my ticket so everyone could see. Such crap! If I could give this restaurant zero I would. Upon arrival the restaurant smelled like dirty wet mop, and it was freezing. I asked the waitress multiple times if she could turn up the heat a little bit since it literally felt the same outside as it did inside She said she had no control of the heat. Our experience only got worse, our food arrived. The eggs tested old and gross, the hashbrowns had no seasoning and my husband's gravy tasted like flour.. Toast was burned. Emmy Lou's is a local diner that's been around for years. They've revamped the interior, making it look somewhat like a wine bar. The service is OK, tho there were a few servers who went around scowling. It was pleasant to see a diner practically full on a Sunday morning. I had their biscuits&gravy with fried eggs. The eggs were fried perfectly, the sausage gravy was good, but the biscuits were incredibly tough. Neither the yolk nor the gravy could soften the biscuits even slightly. Plus, they're overpriced. Butter Cream and Black Bear have more reasonable prices. It's an OK place. read more

I am a born and raised napa resident and decided to take my son here because I remember this being a really good restaurant. My son ordered a hamburger and I ordered the 2 egg breakfast with a side of biscuits and gravy. My son took one bite of his burger and said it was the worst burger he ever had, and my son loves burgers. I only ate my eggs and toast, my hashbrowns were mashed potatoes and I asked for crispy hashbrowns. Now when I was brought the bill I was told we are being charged for half of the burger so I asked to speak with the manager. He pointed to my son and told me it was HIS fault he did not like the burger and we ARE to pay for half of the burger, mind you he did not get his fries either. Now I asked for his name and he said he didn't have to give me his name. Working in customer service my whole working life I have never EVER expected someone to tell a customer that it was their fault they didn't like the food and when I said we would NEVER come back he said that was great. I have NEVER been treated like this ANYWHERE and I am appalled that a grown adult would tell a kid it was their fault that this food was horrible. Mind you my son is 13, he is not 2 so he knows what he likes and this burger AND service was not it. I really hope to here from the owner about this incident because this was not the way a manager should deal with unsatisfied customers. Been here at least 5 times with my parents for breakfast and usually very great. Today, as a table of 6 we were sat at a table for 4. The server said we could move to the larger round table once it was cleared. We were moving when the table was cleaned but were told by the owner that the table was already spoken for by 3 people (who had just arrived). Very unfortunate as I must note that a table of 4 was available behind us and we were at a table of 4.
