I got a white and Margherita pizza from this cute little corner restaurant. As expected, the pizza slices were thinner than the one's I'm used to. Although different, I enjoyed it! ** MEALPAL REVIEW ONLY ** SKIP IF YOU KNOW ABOUT MEALPAL: MealPal is an app where you pay upfront $91 for 12 meals (~$7/meal) which is cheap especially if you're in the city. Each store that offers MealPal makes one special each day, creates it in bulk, and serves that to MealPal customers. The only downside is that you can only place your order starting from 5pm the night before - and people are ridiculously competitive about their meals. Meals can be sold out by 5:10pm, but that's only for 2 places that I've been eyeing so I'll be bitter about that until I get those meals. I can see why more and more places are doing MealPal - like Yelp, it really gives restaurants more exposure. I can tell you that I would never have found this place if it weren't for MealPal (the choices for lunch in FiDi is overwhelming), but I'm so glad that I did! I saw that their Baked Ziti was a hugely portioned dish (MealPal now lets you see if it's a light, standard, or overly filling meal -- very thankful for that update), so I was curious about the amount and decided to try it. With MealPal, you have to say a specific time that you'll pick it up and while most places don't prep it until you arrive, Friendly Pizzeria was ready. Unfortunately I was not. I came about 45 mins after the designated time and the staff immediately reheated my food, without me having to ask. Quite frankly I was confused because one minute I saw my food, and the next it was being passed around--eventually making its way into the oven. They took the initiative to reheat it, no questions asked, and I was really impressed with that. That simple gesture has gained them a huge supporter!! Oh and the Baked Ziti was DELICIOUS. And super filling. Ugh, already drooling just thinking about it. Just the right amount of cheese, sauce, pasta, everything! I also noticed that while they don't sell $1 pizza (my weakness!), they do offer a free soda with 2 slices of pizza (starting at $3/each for cheese). So I guess for FiDi, an area with absolutely no $1 pizzas, it's pretty good. Though to be fair, I haven't had any pizzas anywhere else in FiDi because I usually don't eat pizza unless it's $1 LOL. As for dining in, don't? It's very, very tiny - imagine like a smaller Papaya Dog branch. I almost missed it in trying to find it, but still -- that baked ziti was goooood. Not really impressed. I've eaten from here a few times and that's mostly because I'm either broke or the weather sucks. The pizza is so-so but the staff is quick, friendly and they work hella efficiently. You never wait more than a few minutes for your order. Just don't go on a weekend because it's closed along with the entire FiDi. The Sicilian slice is remarkable for its light, airy crust, but if it's your first time, get the bright margherita or even the regular slice . The base model is ultimately juicy with a strain of oregano. It's thick, flavorful sauce is easily the best part of the slice, followed by the generous cheese and respectable, crunchy crust. There's only one small table with 2 stools for dining in, so I recommend you take your slice somewhere special, especially during lunch hour. There is a bar attached to the outside, which at one time probably took orders, but now just leaves you one more place to stand and eat. It's fantastic old school, and gives great prices for an area overflowing with greenbacks. Wait outside for 10 minutes and you're bound to see a Rolls Royce or Bentley coming through. Been going there for years - remember their large pizzeria down Nassau street with the red popcorn ceilings. The food is OK. Prices were reasonable. Now they want $2.75 for a slice. Really? The guy behind the counter thinks its a great price because everyone around them is selling it for $3.20 - like Chicago Al's. That's crazy! I will not buy pizza in NYC until the prices drop - the prices will drop when people stop buying. Keep paying the higher prices - soon it will be $5 a slice. This small, cramped, bustling pizzeria consistently churns out excellent and reasonably priced pizza. Topping selections are quite good. It is in short a classic new you're slice. We ha e had pies from here at the office and they are always happily devoured. One of my favorites in the Financial District. Very limited seating here so take it to go. A major plus is that they are open early and serve breakfast sandwiches with pork that are tasty and fresh. Since FIDI is filled with halal trucks finding pork for breakfast down here is challenging to say the least. Turkey bacon and ham are not bacon or ham . I'm a bit of a pizza snob but I grew up on NY style pizza and I'll eat it without expecting much. I go to this place every so often when I get the craving during the work week. I always ask for them to heat my slices up to "well-done" to get the cheese melted and runny. Lately, I cannot get them to do that with any consistency. I understand that when its busy it might be a stretch to have them make anything special. But that's why I try to go there when its not too crowded. So today the customer ahead of me orders well-done slices. I'm next on line and I also place the same order. The pizza guy immediately bags and hands the pizza slices to me...I just ordered 5 seconds ago. I said that's not mine I asked for well-done. The cashier said the lady in front of me ordered w/d to which I said I heard her order. I said I also ordered w/d with you. She said take this, this is well-done. I said how is this well done when she's still waiting for her pizza? Obviously, they got the order wrong and they insisted that I play the fool and take their luke-warm pizza...which I did since I didn't want to cause anymore trouble for the people behind me. All the pizza guy had to do was stick it back in the oven but instead they stuck it to me. They lost a long time customer forever. While my favorite pizza in the city is about 2 miles north of Friendly's Pizza, this is my favorite as far as the Downtown area. Anything else I say does not change the fact that this is GREAT NEW YORK PIZZA! They also have calzones here that are to die for. When I asked the guy what type of "meat" was in the "meat calzone" listed, he couldn't specify anything other than "it's beef!". I said "uhh, sausage? pepperoni?" and he said "no, its beef!". Wow what a pizza. After searching for a great spot for NY pizza, I finally found a place! I was touring around the city and just checked out Wall Street. I stumbled upon Friendly Gourmet Pizza and was really surprised. This is exactly what I was looking for. A walk in spot that serves cheap, really enriched tasting pizza. I ordered a pepperoni and sausage pizza and I must say it was one of the best tasting pies that I've ever tried. The sauce was so good. There was also a nice tasting chew to the crust. I really like the ingredients in their pizza. It just has so much flavor into it. I really enjoyed this place. Ever since I was a child, I'd watch movies like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles where they go show NY pizza spots late night with everything hustling in and out of the joint, eating a slice. This is exactly what I was looking for. This spot gets quite busy but that gives it the persona. I'd recommend this spot to any NYers or even tourist looking to get some good pizza. I pretty much live off of Friendly's. I eat here 2-3 days a week for lunch (I work a block away). It never lets me down. I get the whole wheat, spinach or white pizza usually. They have a good variety of toppings and types of pizza. Don't go here if you want some place to dine-in... it's the size of a closet. read more

As mentioned by others, they carry some whole wheat crust slices. I ordered one of these on my maiden trip to the pizzeria on Wed. However, I liked their plain with pepperoni slice better. Great place that I looked up before I decided to come here. Saw it had a good rating and gave it a shot. I had the cheese slice and pepperoni. The crust was baked crispy and the pizza was seasoned well. 2.75 a slice but the portion is good and the taste is worth it. Great spot to get food when walking around the financial district. Here's some new intel. So I was passing by this joint for years and I finally stopped in around March of 2015. "Holy sh*& this sauce is good, nice and tangey and not sweet!" I was trying to figure out what the magic of this place and today while I was ironically ordering a meatball parm I start staring right at the pizzaiolo who is staring right back at me. We exchange hello's and I ask him if he's the guy from Majestic (Century 21 Pizza place) and he said yeah. So I tell him that their pizza hasn't been tasting right which was the reason why I stopped at this place. So ironic that the pizza always comes down to the guy who orders the ingredient and crafts the pizza by hand! This is a solid NY slice of pizza. The best pizza for the best price in the area AND the best employees! They're all the nicest group of people and always have a great time! The pizza shop is on the corner and the doors and windows are wide open in the summer for people to sit at the high tables to eat real quick. It reminds me of a European neighborhood. Its great...
