Unfortunately, this location was bare bones short staffed and the two servers that were running around could only do so much with the large tables that came in for lunch. I can not tell you the last time I have been to any Friendly's. The service today was great. I really couldn't ask for better. That alone should be 5 stars. And all staff I interacted with was friendly. I ordered Connecticut lobster roll and upgraded to a cup of chicken noodle soup. The lobster roll was decent ... not the best I ever had. But I would probably order it again. The chicken noodle soup was not hot and it really didn't look good and didn't taste good. you can definitely tell they don't sell a lot of it.. my mistake. I should've stuck with the clam chowder. Over all and looking through the menu. I think they could be over priced on the value they offer. ( that is on the food menu) their menu is 99% fried offering no home style dinners . Now their ice cream is very good. And is what probably keeps them in business.. I might return. Stopped at Friendly's while visiting family and it's just as good as I remember! I ordered the PB Fudge sundae and it came out looking good and tasting even better. Ella was super kind and the ice cream scooper greeted me when I came in with a smile! I also noticed this location is super clean inside & out (including the restrooms). Besides the fact that I can't give a one star, I will say the ONLY reason I am allowing one star is the manager that made things right after this absolutely terrible experience.. we started out with standing at the hostess area for 15 min, I knew this wasn't good. There was a bunch of yelling and fighting in the kitchen which wasn't quite clear what was going on but no one acknowledged us.. party of 5 and they tried to seat us at a 4 top so we asked for a booth.. moved to the booth then waited another 10 min for the waitress.. she took our drink order finally and we put in our food order as well.. then the wait began 15 minutes later our food shows up but no drinks.. the waitress says she wanted to get the food out but 5 minutes later our drinks show up and two drinks were forgotten.. she finally brings our drinks our food is cold and I could just tell this wasn't going to end well.. she doesn't come back, not even a check in. We are clearly finished with our food and she walks toward us only to turn and go to the bathroom. We waited another 10 minutes (no telling what was going on) she hadn't come out and I was done. Clearly everyone was more focused on closing that helping us.. the only saving grace was the manager apologizing and clearly frustrated comped our meal. I was just going to pay for meals and no ice cream but she was not happy with any of the staff and she clearly wanted nothing more to do with this location (she was a manager at Gettysburg, helping out!! They clearly lack leadership, lack organization at this friendlys.. she comped our meal but we still didn't get ice cream and left pretty sad with the whole experience.. and the waitress never came out of the bathroom! Our waiter Michael was the best! He was 100% in tune with providing exceptional customer service. A teenager, Michael showed the temperament and courtesy we have not received from other waitstaff. We enjoyed a cheeseburger with fries. Juicy burger and crispy fries were a perfect combination. Tuna roll and fries were my selection, and hit the spot. Went with my infant daughter, wife, and two kids. Waited 15 mins for server. He ended up soaking myself and my infant daughter with the drinks that were spilt. Then he wipes the table.. and dripped soda over my infant daughter, again! Ugh! Mistakes happen but he was missing in action from then on. Had to go to counter for drinks. Food was missing items. Fixed shortly after. Ice cream was good. As soon as ice cream came, server dropped off check and ghosted. Food was typical for a Friendly's. But the experience killed it. First of all, I used to work here as a teenager approx 25 years ago. I know it's different now but I've never had such poor food and service as I did last night. It was not busy when we got there. Server took about 10-15 min to even acknowledge us, took another 15-20 to get drinks. Food and desserts took forever. Total we were there almost 2 hours which is ridiculous w little kids. I got a salad and my chicken looked gray. I sent it back and it still looked horrible. The manager did remove it from the check. There wasn't much separation between seats and things looked as if it became a little overwhelming as more people filtered in. This is a good place to go for a Sunday afternoon lunch. It's not that busy and the service is fast and efficient. The employees are nice and the food comes out well-done and prepared like how it is described on the menu. I got a veggie burger with waffle fries and my husband and I split a chocolate milkshake. The place was honestly dirty. We sat close to the kitchen and the floor was so sticky and was very dirty. Food all over the floor, dishes and trashes stacked up for all to see. The cheese bites were very hard. The server spilt ranch all over my plate. She tried to carry too much, instead of grabbing a few things and going to get the condiments. I had chicken tenders and fries. The tenders were so incredibly hard I could barely chew them, and the bbq sauce on them was disgusting. My sister said the coleslaw was so unbearable that she had to add salt and pepper, and that was not even enough. Her onion rings were so burnt and dry. When we got desert my moms m&m shake was spilt all down the side of her cup because the server carried all three of our ice creams and had my moms tipped the whole time. Our bill ended up being $93 and the food was not worth that amount. Portions were too small but overly priced. Friendlys has definitely gone downhill since I was a kid. Lady Matilda and I spent the weekend in Camp Hill, doing some important research at the private Hardenbrook Library on the subject of regenerative phantasms. Dr. Hardenbook was kind enough to open his collection to us because of our shared interest in the EM and PK surges along the Susquehanna Ley Line network. Even the local news was getting in on the spike in "crank calls" to police from people seeing dead relatives and "smoking, black and gray apparitions" from the Chessie Bay all the way up to the New York border. Unfortunately, Lady Matilda left the restaurant too ill to continue her research. We worked overnight to connect any of the 52 documented manifestations to a common source and staggered into the closest eatery that had an open parking space. We placed orders for two rather routine breakfast plates. Our Intern Grayson joined us to transcribe our thoughts and had cinnamon swirl pancakes with the usual eggs and sausage. I had an omelette and potato, and Lady Matilda had pancakes, eggs, and bacon. Grayson enjoyed everything he managed to taste in the short time he took to inhale the contents of his plate. My plate was serviceable and did little more than provide a mediocre breakfast. We discussed the "Gray Lady" incident in Mechanicsburg from July 2nd where two insurance salesmen were chased into a closet by a shrieking corpse in a wedding dress. We tried to compare it to the 1967 incident in Columbia where a widower claimed his dead wife emerged from the river in the wedding dress in which he buried her, but there was no connection between the witness and the old house in Mechanicsburg the insurance agents converted from an old Cape Cod residence. At this point in our conversation, Lady Matilda commented that the pancakes she had been served looked more like crepes - tiny and thin. And they were crunchy as though the batter were too thin on the griddle. Grayson's, too, were thin and crispy, but he didn't seem to care about this. When Lady M tasted her bacon, it carried the distinct chemical taste - like soap. It appeared as though the container of bacon we saw in the kitchen may not have been rinsed properly. When management was notified of the situation, they seemed surprised, but attempted to remedy with a replacement batch of fluffy pancakes. But the bacon made her too sick to entertain any more food. She ended up on Dr. Hardenbrook's fainting couch for the rest of the morning and into the afternoon. I'm pleased to report she is back on her feet this morning. Naturally, we will not return to that location. Our research post-soapy bacon experience leads us to a possible cycle of surges pointing to a critical four-fold cross-dimensional rift that is worth exploring further as these sightings continue to be reported. read more

3.5 star. Definitely looks like a local spot for the retired- nothing wrong with that. We had the original burger- burger patty inside a grilled cheese- surprisingly wasn't bad(essentially a patty melt). The creaminess of the cheese and mayo made up for the slight dryness of the patty. I had the ultimate grilled cheese (3 different types of cheeses vs regular American) which I enjoyed it was crispy and went well with my semi cold tomato basil soup. Lastly we had the kit Kat friend-z. It was creamy and was the perfect ending to our salty meal. The service was decent and their electronic check pay system made it efficient to check out. read more

The Good - staff was very attentive on this Friday evening. We were seated promptly. The waiter came to take the beverage order right away. Our food was good but not remarkable. The waiter checked back twice to make sure everything was okay and we didn't need anything else. I left a suitable tip for good service. The Bad - has the state law requiring hats or hairnets been repealed?????? While our waiter provided excellent service, his hair was shaggy and stringy and not covered in any way. When we were at the check out I noticed that most of the kitchen staff was the same - long, stringy, shaggy hair on both males and females doing the cooking and serving and only two employees wearing hats. This really is kind of disgusting and I won't be returning. I also don't recommend this Friendlys to anyone else unless you don't mind hair in your food. read more

Absolutely LOVE this place, and everyone in there! My boyfriend is super picky on his sundae he orders, every time they make it almost perfect. Could use a little more peanut butter. I don't know what happened to this place. The kids had Mac and cheese which was served cold. Also, their apples were served old and brown and were inedible. Our drinks were brought in dirty glasses. It has been ages since I've been to a Friendly's. I have excellent memories from my childhood of family meals and even birthday parties at the local Friendly's. And of the Cone Head Sundae. I hoped it would live up to my memories and expectations and it did. We were greeted promptly and seated at a window table. Service was efficient and, well, friendly. There are not a lot of healthy options on the menu, but that is to be expected at a chain like Friendly's. They have an excellent opion for those on a budget, a $9.99 meal that includes a beverage, entree of your choice and dessert. I chose the chicken tenders, but they had options such as burgers and salads on that menu as well. All of us were pleased with our dinner selections and perhaps even happier with our desserts. If there was a downside, it was the noise level from the large amount of families and children right around us, but that is to be expected at dinner time at a restaurant geared towards children. I didn't want something that was fried and the menu's list of entrees were limited so I chose the turkey dinner with redskin mashed potatoes, corn and cranberry sauce. It wasn't a bad meal for $15 but not the best either. There was a lot of turkey on the plate but it was very salty. The corn was average and the potatoes were good. The service however, was lacking. The waitress took her time taking my order and while the meal arrived quickly she never came back to check on me. The next time I saw her was when she brought the bill. Just took my kids for dinner. Oy. A server walked out in the middle of their shift. So our server ended up taking care of all customers. Not her fault, I get it. I had no silverware, no napkins, ordered mozzarella sticks that never arrived, my honey bbq chicken super-melt didn't have ranch but it did have a hair or two, bathroom trash cans were over flowing, bathroom was out of soap, etc., etc. Never left Friendly's to go to Dairy Queen for ice cream. We got a coupon in the mail from Friendly's for online order delivery. We decided to try it out and were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. They apparently have no delivery around 4pm Sunday, but we were able to order to have it delivered at 5:15. The food arrived on time and was still hot and fresh. My wife is a vegetarian and we were surprised that they offered veggie burger as a substitute for any of their burgers. She got the patty melt which she said was very good. I got a sriracha burger and our housemate got the vegetarian version of it. Both were also very good. The French fries and onion rings were also surprisingly fresh. I should point out that we only live 1 mile from the restaurant. We also ordered a Jim Dandy sundae which was still cold and was awesome. Wow! What an excellent experience! I came here as a child, but since my husband and I moved to Lancaster I haven't been back. What a change! It's clean renovation creates a comfortable atmosphere; and its superb employees make the atmosphere downright enjoyable. Every employee that we came across was pleasant and personable. They were visible, striking up conversation with customers, and making sure the restaurant was clean and in good order. I watched several servers pick up look straw wrappers or straighten up tabletops. The food was standard Friendly's fare, but presented in a diner-esque way that was clever. Came here for international Ice Cream Day. It was buy one, get one free. I'm glad I didn't have to pay full price. The kids loved it. I was not thrilled. The flavor of Friendly's ice cream is a bit, artificial . I felt like the ice cream won't melt into a puddle if left in the heat all night because it's not real ice cream. I am a bigger fan of Cold Stone Creamery and Häagen-Dazs when it comes to a good flavor. As for the establishment: The AC did not work very well and we were all sweating while we waited for the short staffed Fountain Servers to acknowledge us. There were about 15 people cramped in a 10x10 space with little ventilation and lots of sunlight blasting in. When we were finally served, the service was indeed, Friendly. However, they messed up my kids ice cream toppings and thus the other 12 people in line weren't very happy to have to wait longer.
