Stopped in here on the walk back to my hotel. It looked funky and fun. When we got in it was only one worker and she seemed overwhelmed, asking us to order on the tablet. We did not know what to get and didn't get much guidance. We tried the frissy which I thought would be close to an iced mocha but it was more like a Frappuccino. Quaint place decked with art and modest vibes near Times Square! I ducked in here last minute as I was waiting for a friend. I ordered a beet latte customized with soy milk and was pleasantly surprised by the earthy sweet taste. Service was quick and friendly. Aside from their oh-so-delicious coffee drinks, Frisson on 44th offers breakfast sandwiches if you're hungry. This place is adorable! I was in desperate need of a pick me up coffee in the Hell's Kitchen area, and I stumbled into this cafe. It's very cozy, and has cool options like açaí bowls, breakfast options, customizable smoothies, and of course coffee and matcha. I ordered the cortado for $4.50. The barista put a little heart on the top which I found endearing. Wonderful service in a cozy little nook of a coffee shop. I loved the attention to detail on each cup made. My fiance told the barista that we wanted it to go since he's always so practical and thinks we might not finish the drinks, but the barista noted that I was taking photos and switched the last two drinks to dine in. He crafted a beautiful piece of work on my matcha latte and did the same for my future father-in-law's latte. The matcha flavor was strong and wasn't overwhelmed with the milk. The staff, the product... beyond. I am happy to share this little gem on West 44th Street in Hell's Kitchen. Every staff member makes a mean coffee and smoothie. Check out the chaga chai and Spicy Mango smoothie which is topped with Tajin. I am fond of the entire team. Special shout out to Briana, not only is she very kind, her knowledge of coffee and her product is very impressive. A true professional and rock star. Shout out to your leadership as well. Amazing coffee and tea selections, and they offer more than what's on the menu! For example, we ordered dirty chai latte and matcha latte, both of which are not on the menu. Meanwhile, love love the food/snack options, some of the unique treats that I have never seen before. Tried this savory spinach tart, it was eggy and not too hard, very tasty, perfect for an empty stomach! The gentleman at the counter was pretty helpful and friendly. Came here after visiting one of the other locations (since I had a great hot chocolate and this location was a bit closer). Service was nice and quick, but the hot chocolate tasted like something I would get from a cocoa packet. However, the inside of the store is super cool with a bunch of art and is just a general vibe. We stopped by for morning coffees recently, and were pretty disappointed. I got a cortado, and the coffee tasted extremely burnt. It had no flavor but an overwhelming burnt, dark bitter taste. It was also overly foamy, which caused the texture to be somewhat ruined. We also got a iced latte with vanilla syrup, and it had a similar burnt taste. It was certainly hidden a bit more behind the syrup and higher milk content, but definitely still took away from the drink. Overall, wouldn't come back for the coffee; there are better options around! I'm sure they do other things well though! read more

Their Japanese iced coffee is made by brewing hot coffee directly over ice to flash chill while producing a crisp and bright taste. What we got: - Japanese iced coffee Final Thoughts: I don't typically drink my coffee black, but even without milk or any additional sweetener this cup wasn't bitter at all. Two brothers run via family and I highly recommend going here when you visit New York. Definitely cleaned my pallet from our Chinese lunch and it helped cool me down from the New York heat. We got water, but there was no ice offered, so I asked one of the workers and he was kind enough to get me some. We are through that dessert like, if we didn't finish it fast, it was going to melt. The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.

I stumbled upon this cafe, lured in by the need for quality espresso to wake up from long flight, and let me tell you, it didn't disappoint. But, there was a moment that had me scratching my head. When I asked for a long shot, the staff seemed a bit lost, not quite sure what I was after. It took a kindly gentleman's guidance for them to get the hang of it. Watching this unfold, I couldn't help but wonder about the espresso lingo barrier in NYC cafes. Turns out, a long shot isn't as common as I thought in the city. Who knew? After a bit of back and forth, with the staff member checking in to see if he should keep the espresso flowing a bit longer, we got there in the end. And I've got to say, the result was worth the mini espresso education session. The long shot was bold, smooth, and had a depth of flavor that took me by surprise. News Flash! 2nd location!!! I've been a fan of Frisson Espresso for more than 5 years. It is my favorite meeting space for friends and family. In fact, no visiting friend leaves NYC without a trip to Frisson and an introduction to the world of latte art. Tulian and Robert are masters of this intricate and often challenging art. Of course, their espresso is always perfect. It's nearly impossible for me to go to Starbucks or other coffee companies now that I've been spoiled. This new location serves açaí bowls in addition to their usual home baked goods. I understand this will be expanding to include vegan options. I miss their vegan cranberry oatmeal cookie. I recently visited Frisson Espresso and ordered a flat white coffee, which was one of the best I've had in New York. The staff were respectful and nice, and the prices were reasonable. The place is pet-friendly, which is a great bonus. Although the shop is a bit small and located in the middle of the street, it is truly a hidden gem. read more
