I honestly would give this place a five if it weren't for customer service. I don't think I've ever had a good interaction with the ladies that work there. They can be very short with the customers. But guess what.. I don't care cuz the food is honestly that good!! I don't know how they make the carne asada but it's the best!! I introduced my Mexican husband to this place when we moved here and now he needs to eat here at least once a month. Pro tip: ask for extra meat on the plate and you can definitely share between two people. They give you a lot of rice and plantains. So there is usually leftovers. Another tip: Use the vinegar they give you for extra flavor on the meat or buy a side of chimichuri.. definitely worth the extra $$. The Fritanga had a facelift, a bright colorful Jigantona greets you entering the establishment. This is your typical Fritanga, food is great just wished their tajadas did not have the skin - it gives it a bitter/burnt taste. Also, it would be nice if they brought back more pastry selection. I ordered a platter at 1pm to pick up at 5:30. When I got there they told me that I made a mistake and must have ordered it elsewhere. After further investigation the cashier tells me that she just came in and that the previous cashier did not print out the order so it wasn't ready. With that being said I had to wait over 30 minutes for the order to be ready. Customer service is horrible. They were not apologetic at all and it was like oh well. This location is the best location this Franchise has ! My husband and I ordered our Sunday dinner from here on Grubhub. I got the carne asada with gallo pinto y tajadas. My husband ordered gallo pinto with carne desmenuzada y maduro. For our drinks we got Cacao sin hielo. The food was fresh and they did include the utensils and the side salad and spicy chile sauce, which by the way I recommend sprinkling some of that sauce on the rice. Thank me later ! We've been coming to this spot for over a decade. The pros are that the food selection is always consistent, portions are huge and prices are reasonable. Taste is relatively good. We prefer the Gallo Pinto, Pollo Empanizado, Filete de Pescado and Jalapeño Carne. They accompany any of the meals with the a Nica salad, which is always good. The cons are that service usually isn't very friendly, atmosphere is virtuallyexistent and the food choices are always the same. Additionally if you get there too late, there won't be much stuff left. Still, overall not a bad choice for a quick and cheap bite of Nica food to eat. read more

Ordered from here via UberEats recently. I'm giving it 4 stars simply because I received the most tender & flavorful pieces of carne asada that I've ever had at any fritanga that I've tried. I usually get shoe leather for the most part. The Gallo Pinto was fine. We also ordered the breaded chicken which was good as well. Fried cheese is a must here and you really can't mess that up. The plantain chips were ok and the fried yucca was good albeit a bit greasy. But I am ordering from a frita-anga sooooo, i guess I can't complain. Employees and management are not only incompetent, they are rude too. I have guests over and ordered about $100 worth of food. We received someone else's order, so we call and ask how we can get the food we paid for. We were met with zero apology, the woman already knew the wrong order went out and didn't bother to contact us, and then she said she'd "go out of her way and do us the favor of bringing what's missing" to which we asked if the whole order can be made fresh since now its been sitting there so long, and we'll return the order we got as a mistake. She said she had to talk to her manager and would call right back. 10 minutes pass so we call and the manager very rudely picks up and says he's not having anyone deliver anything and to contact postmayes about a refund. In the mood for some inexpensive early dinner to go and being in the area I decided to stop at this location which I have in the past but never yelped about it. I decided on two carne asada's with Gallo pinto and salad which is a cole slaw salad that has been marinated in a vinaigrette. This location is very small, yes, they have a few tables do those who want to dine in but takeout is my preference. Service is ok, the order and paying process is decent. Unfortunately, the meat is so cheap that every bite I was encountered with fatty tissue(yuk). The gallo pinto, the maduros, tajadas(green plantain chips cut lengthwise) & the cole sla, were very good but the steak ruined it. Also the price of $8.50 is too much for this type of food. I used to go to a restaurant that the gimmick was that patrons intentionally treated badly. The waiters were rude and the hosts couldn't be bothered. So that was the thing. Anyone coming to Fritanga Monimbo shouldn't expect stellar service. You might get a some rudeness. What you can expect is awesome food. It's fresh and tasty. You'll be impressed with the quality. I've eaten from Fritanga Monimbo multiple times and keep going back. Just walk in. Tell them what you want and they'll do the rest. Don't expect a bunch of niceities. If you get some rudeness just suck it up because one you get home and eat that food, you'll forget about how rude someone was to you. It will wash all those bad feelings away. If no stars could be posted I wouldn't even give them one star. Usually a salad and tortillas accompany each meal and it was not provided with our meals. I first tried this place years ago and as my sis started dating a Nicaraguan I started enjoying the food more. This place catered a small event I had and everybody enjoyed the food. Great food for the value. The dishes range from $6 to $8 and that includes a mound of food. A complete meal consist of a meat/chicken/fish, rice, a side and salad. We had the shredded beef. I've had the steak before but I've never thoroughly enjoyed it. So I tried the shredded beef instead and it was good. For sides I picked gallo pinto (mixed red beans and rice) and platano maduros (ripe deep fried sweet plantains). The "salad" which I am no fan of is a vinegar based coleslaw. They also offer a fried cheese which use to be made on the spot but this time it was sitting there since who knows. It was all good considering a complete meal feeds two and its only $7. The atmosphere was clean and friendly. We dined in and didn't have any issues. They were cleaning and I could smell the fabuloso which is ok by me. A friend and I usually meet up once a month. Every time we meet up we usually try to do it at a place me or her has never been to before. We usually try to make it a small chain or a family owned eatery. She had recommended a fritanga place called Fritanga Monimbo located on 13710 SW 56th St. Being Hispanic and having been raised in its culture and customs has its perks. Majority of the foods you try from different Latin countries are usually just seasoned differently, but the major thing all Hispanic food has in common is that it is well seasoned and is very flavorful. Fritanga Monimbo takes its cooking roots from Nicaragua. In Miami two dishes that Nicaraguans are known for are queso frito (fried cheese) and tres leches (a caramel/milk based dessert). However, I chose something different this time. I ordered the Canelones stuffed with chicken and gallo pinto, which is rice cooked with seasoned red beans. The total came out to $7 with a soda. The Canelones, which are a bit like lasagna, had a unique taste. The sauce they used was cheese based with something else. It was rather sweet and a bit distracting. The Canelones were stuffed with chicken and had green peas all over the place. After a while the sauce became overwhelming. So I started to mix it with the gallo pinto. Sadly, the gallo pinto was very plain. Unlike Americans, Hispanics tend to season their beans with vegetables and spices. They just don't pour it from the can and warm them up. The gallo pinto in this case served more as a base rather than a separate entity. I started to use the sauce from the Canelones with the gallo pinto to distract from the sauce and to give the rice and beans some flavor. It worked for a while, but at the end it was just OK to bearable. Advertisement They also served the dish with coleslaw, but instead of using mayo they used vinegar as a base. I tried my friend's queso frito and it was good. However, it was served cold and not really warmed up. As stated before, being Hispanic gives you an insight as to how flavorful certain foods should be. I was disappointed with the taste of the food, especially with the lack of flavor in the gallo pinto. The Good: 1. Serving portions can feed two regular-sized people comfortably. 2. Prices are modest. 3. They have various locations in the Miami area. 4. Place was clean. The Bad: 1. Gallo pinto (rice with red beans) was bland and lacked seasoning. 2. The sauce of the Canelones sauce overwhelming in taste. 3. The Platanos Amarillos (Yellow Plaintains) looked more like pork in sauce. read more

Horrible customer service. They admittedly messed up my Postmates order. They only sent me 1/3 of the food I ordered. They initially offered to bring it to me themselves and then rescinded their offer. I asked for a call from a manager. I was told to expect a call shortly. The manager never called. I had to call them back to find out that they were not bringing me my food and were just refunding the money. I don't want the money. I want the food from a restaurant that I order from twice a week. No class whatsoever. The ladies on the phone were extremely rude. This was a big order as I had company over.
