Unfortunately we didnt get an opportunity to try the frites because they weren't available yet (kitchen hood wasn't installed) but they sure sound delicious! The ice cream was very tasty. I had the London Fog (earl grey and vanilla), wow! My kids and husband all liked their flavors too. All their flavors are unique, like Moroccan Brown Butter and made in house. You can sample, so you can pick one you love. The owner(s) were friendly and very patient with my 3 kids wanting to sample everything. Once the frites come, you can have something salty too. The ice cream is buttery, but in a good way, and the fries are the perfect texture, the ranch is also delicious, but the fry sauce left something to be desired. I consider myself an ice cream expert. Decades of Ben & Jerry's, Häagen-Dazs, Salt & Straw, and many more brands have kept me satisfied. What I experienced at Frite & Scoop, however, is unlike anything I've ever tasted (in a really good way)! I got the "golden milk" and immediately was amazed by the quality and unique flavors singing in my mouth. While Astoria is roughly 4hrs away round trip, I have seriously considered going there many times - just so I can have another taste of heaven. Highly recommend this place!! read more

Terrific ice cream, little hard to eat with my little mouth though, I had to make my human servants break it up into little pieces. I really enjoyed their ice cream the first time I went. My boyfriend did not, because their selection is fairly limited (8 choices) and the flavors aren't your usual flavors. The second time, I enjoyed the ice cream just as much, but my waffle cone was undercooked and not browned. Still would visit again (just maybe alone this time ). read more

Wow! These gals have it down! The service is great and super efficient, the ice cream is INCREDIBLE (yes, get the classic hokey poke, it's soooo good...and get it in a krumkake shell for sure, puts waffle cones to shame!), and the interior is awesome, particularly the "staff picks" which gives you lots of great ideas of how to order your scoop! I'm not a frite gal but my husband is and that'll be on our next visit. Super appreciative of the gals behind the counter, on a hot Sunday afternoon, seriously hustling for the customers with big smiles and moving you through the line in a way that you feel taken care of and also that everyone else in the long line is as well because (similar to Salt n Straw) they've got a great process going (kudos to management on this and the hiring!). Amazing handmade ice cream in truly unique flavors. We loved the Saturday Morning Cartoons, as well as the Key Lime Pie. When he heard we were from out of town, the owner was kind enough to prepare us a sample batch of frites and fry sauce. Delicious! Such a unique, fun little place. read more

The French Custard-style ice cream is delightful. I had the London Fog, which is really Earl Grey and vanilla and it was decadent and yet refreshing. I also ordered a regular frties with rosemary salt and the chipotle sauce. The frites were nicely done, though I missed the rosemary essence. The sauce was great, but their approximation of Belgian frites sauce won me over as the preferred choice. The staff is friendly, the offerings outstanding. I highly recommend this joint! I hope they do enough of season biz that they create a solid, long-term operation because I expect to visit every trip to Astoria. read more

Unparalleled customer service. I live in California and wanted to purchase a gift card for a friend who had moved to Astoria. Within 2 business hours I had been contacted by the owner, was provided instructions on how to order, and completed the transaction. I can honestly say that the Chocolate Milk and Cookies ice cream just blew my mind. My husband got the Lemon Pie, and he won't shut up about it. London Fog ice cream OMG! Delicious it is along with the many other changing flavors available. So worth the splurge-what an experience!

Seriously delicious ice cream. We walked in and immediately the staff welcomed us to sample. They encouraged us to try as many as we liked. They were all amazing and all homemade. They have cones with chocolate in the bottom (didn't know it was there until I got to the bottom!) We had the Pretzel Crunch and the Vegan Berry Sorbet. Yummy good but limited options. They put a Hershey kiss in the bottom of the waffle cones which was a nice surprise if you like them.

Oh my GOD. This place is heaven. We started with a small thing of frites. So tasty! They are like a mix between potato wedges and steak fries. Then the ice cream... They guy at the counter was so so friendly. He explained that everything was house made (he makes his own marshmallows for rocky road, his own snickerdoodles for the chai snickerdoodle, etc.) And the prices weren't very high for such a high quality, trendy, homemade place! I had the Hokey Pokey custard cream (they make the honeycomb candies themselves!) and my husband had the salted Carmel butter pecan. We decided to come back for an order of the "fritz/fries". A must visit in Astoria. They make small handmade batches so they do run out of ice cream sometimes. The House made waffle cones smell amazing. My aunt had a donut they made as a special and she said it was delicious. My favorite flavor is the basic Hokey Pokey, sweet cream with honey comb chunks. read more
