One of my good friends is a Frosted zealot, even having swapped ordering a traditional wedding cake for Frosted cupcakes instead on her big day. I tried a Royal White Vanilla at her reception and was quite impressed, leading her to take me to the source to try another. Frosted is at the tail end of 2nd Street, humbly nestled next to a bank, and just across the way from Belmont Shore favorites including Saint and Second and Nick's. I managed to find a metered parking spot right in front of the cupcakery, putting in just a nickel to get my cupcake and go. I had gone in the early afternoon, which apparently is when everybody else also wants cupcakes, as there was a line to the door. There was only one worker behind the counter, and he had a great sense of humor and attitude amidst the craziness. I ordered the Confetti Cupcake and y'all. Y'all know I don't like desserts and it takes major arm pulling for me to even taste 'em. Well, I'm not a fan of cupcakes either -- surprise, surprise -- but honestly, these were pretty damn good. I tried the lemon, red velvet and vanilla and thought they were all lovely and moist and the frosting wasn't sickly sweet and hard. In fact, if I HAD to eat an entire cupcake, I'd say these would be the ones I'd choose to eat. When you buy them to bring home, they put them in these awesome boxes which sits a cupcake into each slot so they don't move about and cause a ruckus by the time you get home. They're still perfect should you want to have them for a dinner party. On top of that, they have these cupcake holders made out of paper which you can assemble and then display your cupcakes at home if you don't have one of those nifty contraptions. I have came a few times and I must say that I am not disappointed! Parking is found on the street. Just be careful not to park where permits are required. They do have parking meters. Plus, considering the fact that they are located in 2nd Street in the Belmont Shore area, they do have quite the array of eateries around just in case you want something after you have indulged in their sweets! Sweetest cupcakes ever. My favorite is the strawberry lemonade flavor. I believe it was a Flavor of the Month during the summer last year. I usually buy 6 cupcakes(not all for myself!!)which would come out to around $12 or so. So worth it. The people working here are just friendly all around! Too sweet. Some of the flavors included Lemon, Strawberry, Orange, Red Velvet, Carrot, Mint, Nutella, Apple Cinnamon, Peanut Butter, Cookies N' Cream, etc. Some had sprinkles and others were topped with gummy candies. They're homestyle, old fashioned cupcakes. The cupcakes are average in size. I tried the Royal White cupcake with Vanilla Buttercream. The buttercream frosting was soft and smooth, a little sweeter than average. There was less frosting on the cake than average. I like how it wasn't too whipped or too soft. The outer edge had white sprinkles. The cake part was a little dry and just not that flavorful. The Cookies N' Cream cupcake was a disappointment because it seemed just like a chocolate cupcake with vanilla buttercream, only with a mini Oreo on top. The frosting should have crushed cookie bits. The cake part was okay, also a tad dry. I brought some home to share with the family and Crumbs was definitely preferred because the Crumbs cake had more flavor. P.S. Reviews on this place is mixed BUT I have been to MANY different cupcake places. Chocolate Toffee cupcake, that's new and interesting, I'll have one! Chocolate cake with toffee frosting, also topped with toffee pieces! I believe the chocolate cake was more of a dark chocolate. I think doing that, made the flavors pop! Dragging Yelper Mikolas S. along with me for the adventure of chubby bunny's lifetime, I eagerly entered the store wide-eyed and drooling with one thing, and one thing only on my mind: to get my ice cream cupcake! I ordered a Red Velvet cupcake with Vanilla Bean ice cream in it as well as a regular Mint Chocolate Chip cupcake while Mikolas S. had the White Chocolate cupcake with Strawberry ice cream. Me and Mikolas splite the two ice cream cupcakes. I think of the two, I much preferred the RV to the White Chocolate, but it was a personal preference since I'm not a huge white chocolate fan. The ice cream cupcakes are shockingly large which was a big plus. But the cake, frosting, and ice cream were all rock hard. I would have easily broken the plastic spoon they provided for me if I attempted to use it on the cc. The concept is cool but I think you're better off ordering a cc here and going down the street to the rite aid store and ordering a scoop of ice cream. I still really enjoyed the cc and the novelty of it all. As for the Mint Chocolate Chip cc, oh my god. So minty with lots and lots of chocolate chip morsels in the frosting. And the chocolate cake had a lot of rich chocolate flavor and was moist and dense in texture. From the moment that I saw their cupcake display, I literally wanted to just take a bite out of every cupcake they had to offer and put the rest back. Does that make me a bad person? I simply wanted to have a sample of every cupcake since everything looked so darn cute and yummy. My final decision was their strawberry ice cream cupcake and their keylime flavor of the month. The ice cream cupcake was larger than a normal size cupcake and I split it with my BF. The taste reminds me of ice cream birthday cakes from coldstones or baskin robbins, but only this was better with super sweet frosting. Ice cream cupcake = mMmMm! Keylime cupcake = Very moist and WOW! Needless to say that I got two more cupcakes togo, another keylime and a red velvet! The cake is always moist and always well Frosted. There are a few must stops when we're in the area visiting family and Frosted Cupcakery is always one of them. On this visit I had their chocolate cake with coconut frosting. Quite a departure from one of my normal orders, but I've fallen in love and our relationship (Coconut & me) has been going very well. I don't know what their secret is, but Frosted's frosting melts on your tongue perfectly with each bite. Cute little Cupcakery in Long Beach. I went here last Sunday and this area gets quite crowded since there are so many places to visit just on one street. The store is quite small, but what cupcake place isn't. I did enjoy the nice cupcake painting on the wall. SUPER CUTE! Cartoony slash anime slash fairy tale! I enjoyed it. Caramel Buttercreme Toffee - I enjoyed this one a lot but it is very rich so my small tiny bite was good enough for me. You can really taste the toffee on this one. Nutella Cupcake - wasn't that bad.. i have to admit I like it better on my crepes. They have little mini cupcakes for your doggies! Super cute! Hot Chocolate or Old School bottled Coke also for sale. The presentation is wonderful. I'm a cupcake lover so I was ecstatic to hear this place opened up. The owner is friendly and warm. The cupcakes were okay. I tried four different flavors. I prefer my cakes to be really moist and they were a tad dry for me. The frosting was amazing. I will give the Frosted Cupcakery another try to see if I just happened to go on an off day. read more

I finally ventured my way over to Frosted and tried their ice cream cupcake. I like cupcakes and I like ice cream. I figured I would also like their ice cream cupcake. Oh what a disappointment that experience was. The cupcake and the ice cream were so hard and dry. I guess it's been sitting in the freezer for a while. I expected something totally different. I was expecting a soft warm cupcake with the yummy ice cream in the middle. If you want ice cream with your cupcake you're better off adding the ice cream to your cupcake yourself. Even though the ice cream cupcake was a disappointment, Frosted makes good Red Velvet cakes. Hence, the 4 stars. I like how their frosting isn't too sweet like most places. I also like that it's not pile on super high. It also helps that the staff here are really friendly. Maybe they're high off of sugar? Do yourself a favor and don't get the ice cream cupcake... Just stick to the basics and get one of their regular cupcakes instead. You'll thank me later for it. read more

After trying a decent share of cupcakes from different shops, Frosted was like I rated.. A-OK. It's definitely not the best cupcakes I've had, but it still fully satisfies your sweet tooth, carb cravings, cupcake addiction... whatever joy cupcakes can bring to a person. I just love those darn things! I should have went with my gut when it came to picking and choosing because I wasn't completely won over with the choices I made - Orange Cream Cheese, Chocolate Mint Chip, and, their flavor of the month, S'mores. Okay, I admit the Chocolate Mint Chip was delicious. I'm a sucker for mint chocolate anything, so I might be slightly biased. The other two... meh, not so much. I do love how soft and moist their cakes are though. Perfect texture. My top cupcake shop remains My Delight Cupcakery in Ontario. That doesn't mean I won't frequent Frosted. Their prices are awesome. Only $2.95 each and $30 for a dozen. That's a deal right there. I don't know any other cupcake shop that offers a discount if you buy a dozen. It may not be much, but it's something right? I have my eyes set on the Red Velvet and Strawberry Cream Cheese for next time. read more
