I posted this on New Years Eve and the next day it disappeared. I'm not sure if I just have bad luck when ordering here or what. Always picking it up and taking it home may be the problem because I can't send it back. After the last 3 dinners I got and my wife's salmon was way over cooked and my lasagna was burnt. I don't mean a little burnt cheese which I happen to like but burnt and tasted burnt. So picking up dinners is now out of the question yet this is my go to place for Carrot Cake and I always order a half cake for my wife's birthday. When picking up her cake last time I noticed their display case with the Tiramisu in a glass cup. So it's New Year's Eve and figured I'd call to order 2 pieces of Carrot Cake and asked if they had 3 Tiramisu's in those cups which they said yes and recommended I order online which I did. It said online it would be ready in 45 minutes yet they didn't even put the order together until I got there so there was no need to wait 45 minutes. I just grabbed it and left since my daughter was waiting in the car and it had started raining again while they were getting it together. I got home to find the Carrot Cake in clear plastic containers and the Tiramisu wasn't in the same cups in their display but spooned into these styrofoam cups and you can't really see what it was except a mess scraped off to the sides when you opened it. Come on Frugatti's, I thought you were classier then that. At least if it was in the clear plastic containers you could see layers and what's in it. Are we the only ones that want a little of each layer in every bite. At $11.49 each and it isn't about the money... it's also about presentation and perception since I wasn't in a fast food drive thru. I was simply wanting something just a little special for my wife and daughter and Frugatti's missed an opportunity to be a part of that tonight. I wished I had a pic of their faces when we opened the cups. Both my wife and I took a couple of bites and we were done so it was on to the Carrot Cake which they will still be my go to place for now at least. A Slice of Italy restaurant is closer to me and actually has really good Tiramisu and I can actually see what I'm getting. This in no way will determine how Fabulous our New Year will be and may all of you have a Fun and Blessed 2023. read more

My all time favorite restaurant. I live an hour away, but I will make the drive because the food is by far one of the best Italian foods I have had. I order the rigatoni bolognese. The service is always great too, I have never had a bad experience. read more

My wife and I called to see if they serve gluten free pasta. The hostess said they did but didn't mention that they were take out only. We showed up, then ordered, and eventually went back to the hotel to enjoy delicious pasta and salad. They were very friendly and professional. read more

We drove to Bakersfield for the day and Yelp recommended this place so we tried it. The service was very good and the food was good. The pasta dishes were large in portions and priced that way. The pizza was honestly just average. They have a ton of cheese which makes it a bit soggy after a few minutes. Salad was excellent. Overall a good experience and would recommend it. read more

Sadly I am downgrading my previous review. We were there last week. Happy people still greet us. The restaurant is still clean. Service was slow until I told the waiter that we were in a hurry. We were in town on biz. Then he pleasantly sped everything up. The employees are great. The accordion player has retired & is not being replaced. I asked several employees about him & that is what I was told. I also was told that the owner likes it more quiet. I asked to speak to the owner but he wasn't in. The accordion player was the #1 star there. The food was "ok". My wife says the menu has been changed. The food was not stellar as I remember before. Their prices are high so "ok" is not good enough. High prices need high quality. We had leftovers. My wife didn't want to eat them (what does that tell you about her feeling of the quality?). I did. I reheated them in a microwave. SO OILY! The oil didn't leave my mouth for at least 15 minutes after eating. The oil didn't stick when I ate it in the restaurant. There was over a spoonful of oil in the bottom of the bowl. This was the very next day. I had their chocolate cheesecake. It looks better to me than it tastes. I remember it tasted the same before. I suspect that this is my personal taste & not low quality. It probably is Italian style. I like it a little different. We were at the March Meet. It appeared that they advertise there. OK but I respond to quality. We've agreed not to return. We're not unhappy or mad. We're just not thrilled. read more

Went for dinner with a group coworkers tonight and everything was absolutely amazing! It's rare to find a place that actually cooks a steak to your request, but my medium rare steak was PERFECT! Our first time at the new location and it was not as I expected it to be. The waitress Gabriela took our drink order and then our food order. After about 45 minutes, we get our 2 pasta plates and one plate had a big hair on it. We told the the waitress and she did not even apologize she just said I'll get you another plate. We requested to get another plate instead and asked for the menu and she made a face. She came back to take our order, but we were still deciding what to order. It felt like she was in a rush. I asked her for her opinion on the pasta and she completely did not want to help and said she will be back when we are ready to order. At the end of our dinner, we asked for boxes for our two plates and she only brings one box when she saw we needed two. We ask for another box and she pretends she has trouble understanding what we are saying. We finally get the extra box after asking for it. Overall, I do not recommend this place. The service is bad and the waiting time is over the top. read more

If my review was solely based on my take out experience today I would give the restaurant a one star review. I ordered three items and neither one of them was acceptable to the point that we opted not to eat our meal. The raviolis were stuck together, the Mac and cheese sauce was clumpy and not cheesy what so ever, they're better off serving kraft Mac n cheese. The pizza was undercooked! Now my experiences for dine in have almost all been great. Food is always cooked great. However if you're doing take out please opt elsewhere, they don't seem to care about the quality provided for take out. read more

I have eaten at Frugattis several times over the years. I like the food, but it doesn't wow me. My food always comes out hot and fresh with plenty of flavor, but I haven't found that one dish that calls me back time and time again. Frugattis is clean, well organized and has good service. It is a family business and serves southern Italian food fare. They use wood fired ovens to cook most of the stuff you eat and this cooking style can be challenging. They do it really well. Frugattis is a really nice place to have Italian food, especially if you are in the neighborhood. Enjoy! read more

We came in a part of about 20 for a bday party. The room we were in was beautiful and the servers were very nice and extremely busy. We started with appetizer platter that had stuffed mushrooms, hot boneless chicken and fried artichoke hearts. All 3 platters had most of artichoke hearts left on them. I was not impressed with them either. The mushrooms and chicken were delicious. The salad course was excellent and the creamy garlic dressing is amazing! Would love to buy it. My main course was chicken fettuccini alfredo. I didn't realize it had red peppers in it. Not a fan but picked them out and it was very good. Others had steak filet tips and they all came out very well done regardless that most were requested med. rare. Portion sizes were so large! Lots of leftovers! In town for brief overnight visit during COVID and looking for some italian food....thot of Frugattis from when we used to live here. Ordered curbside for 3 people, food was good and prepared promptly. Only disappointment was were were not given any utensils or napkins. Really good. We had many things that were delicious. The only problem was the Margherita pizza. It was SOGGY. Like a literally soupy mess. Disappointing considering that's supposed to be one of their best items. You can see in the picture that the cardboard under the pizza was drenched. Other than that everything was awesome. read more

Party 5 November 16. Maybe the worst dining experience ever. Reservations were for 615p and we were seated by 620p. That is the last of the good news. We sat for 20minutes with no one even acknowledging our presence. We flagged down a bus boy and asked for water and a wine list. Another 10min before water and bread appeared and still no wine list. Another 10 minutes before or server appeared then left to get a wine list. We ordered a bottle of Chianti and our food. Two of us asked for salads with our entrees. Then we wait 10min. 20min. after 30 min the salads appear but still no wine. When asked the server informed us the manager had to get it from the vault. Are you kidding me it's Chianti in an Italian restaurant. Salads finally arrive. Four of the entrees came before we had finished our salads. Two of them, scallops and the beef were stone cold and still no wine. This time we were told the bar tender needed to open it and he was backed up. Finally the manager came with the wine and apologized. However the 5th entree was still missing. She left to go find it. When she did return to her credit she comped all of our food. We finally left at 830p. If I could give a 0 rating I would. We will never go back! read more

We went in very excited to try this place but left disappointed. I love Neapolitan style pizza but this pizza was not true Neapolitan style. The dough was too thick. The white Russia drinks were amazing while we waited for out outdoor seating and the servers were friendly. Came to try this place out for the first time with a group of friends, also their first time, and with noodles or pasta I always ask for extra cause some places don't give much so better safe than sorry if I was given a small portion, but nope it was a great portion. The complimentary bread was wonderful, and the carrot cake and cheesecake. Wonderful they weren't overly sweet like most pastries go, they were beautifully light in sweetness. Definitely gonna come back and hope to try their Gelato and Tiramisu. Our waitress was amazing, great energy and tended to us when she saw any of us running low on our beverages A+ there eyes of an eagle to tend to her table. Our server Elliott was helpful and friendly. We had an excellent birthday lunch for my wife's sister on a Saturday. We enjoyed the bacon wrapped asparagus appetizer, Very good but I would have asked for the bacon a little more browned (personal preference). My wife and her sister had pasta al pomodoro & spaghetti while I had the excellent Penne Primavera (pasta with veggies). All very good and with substantial portions. The highlight was the Lemon Ricotta Cheesecake (see the photo). This is a family run restaurant, which is well worth trying. read more

Absolutely loved it here. Celebrated our anniversary here after talking to some people and doing some yelping to find a good place. I was not let down at all. Fantastic Italian food made like it is in Italy. You can taste the authenticity. And the portions were fantastic, I was able to eat until I was full and then have leftover for a filling lunch the next day. Very disappointed with Frugatti's. We showed up for dinner last night then 2 families showed up after us. One of the workers told us to wait and she would seat us, when she came back she sat the other two families and said she would put us on the waitlist. They didn't care that we arrived before the other 2 families and once she put us on the waitlist she said we would only have 15 minutes to order and eat because they closed at 10pm & it would be a 45min-1 hr wait. We decided to leave and take our business elsewhere and we got a text 10 minutes after leaving that there was a free table! They just made us feel very unwelcome. read more

We just finished a wonderful birthday dinner with friends. All of our meals were excellent from Popos Pasta to the Fitness menu - then Tony's cannoli for dessert! Our waiter Kyle was delightful and very attentive throughout the meal even though the restaurant was full. Frugatti is located in a cute small plaza with a giant tomato in front of the restaurant. Inside the interior is cute and appears to look as if you are out in the streets of a small town in Italy? One thing I noticed is staff here is nice and especially our server. I wish I got her name because she is one hard working individual who basically was serving half of the restaurant during our visit there. As for the food it was ok. Pizza was soggy and I personally had better Margherita Napolitano Pizza at other locations. For the bruschetta it was the same experience, the bread was very soggy. Skip on the Cesar salad it's also just alright. As for their pasta I would think they were the better part of our meal. Crab and shrimp ravioli were delicious and baked pasta is very cheesy. No room to try any dessert. My rating is represented by the great service and food being ok. I have had better salad, pizza, and bruschetta at other places. So I would think getting pasta at Frugatti is the safest bet of not being disappointed. read more
