As you walk in, the decor is well done and welcoming. Bathrooms and overall restaurant was tidy and clean. We were quickly seated and welcomed. (Group of 5 for lunch) We got our drinks quick. Our waitress was friendly, too friendly (noticeably fake). The bread rolls were dry and flakey like my scalp -lol- Not good. My grandmother ordered a meal with a drink included. The waitress didn't mention that it came with a drink, luckily my brother got the same meal and told her about the drink. The food took around 30 minutes to arrive. Once arrived waitress came to our table to make sure everything was good a few times ( good service). I ordered the linguine with tomato cream sauce. Never again! Dish was basically tasteless and dry. I ate about 1/4 of my food and took the rest "to-go" Which i planned to eat later, but just ended up in the fridge, then to the trash. We were torn between here and Urrichios downtown. We decided to come here and immediately regretted our decision when we got the overpriced and lackluster food. Our lasagna had "meat sauce" , not actual meat. You're better off with lasagna from olive garden. The server was really nice and knowledgeable about the menu. I went with my girlfriend and we ordered the spicy chicken Parmesan bites (I think that's what they were called) for our appetizer. That was delicious. But my dinner.. Which was the veal. Was an absolute disappointment. I could hardly even cut it with the knife. And it was incredibly chewy. This has always been a favorite place to eat. The food has changed over the last decade but is still yummy. Don't plan on eating here if you're in a hurry, but the service is good as is the food. The fired pizza is wonderful. For lunch we had to have the carrot cake with the fantastic cream cheese frosting with a house salad to counteract all those carbs and calories. I've been here before and the food was great. The service has never been bad. The last time that I've eaten here was about a year ago. I ordered chicken fettuccine alfredo tonight and was very disappointed. The chicken was extremely chewy. I was grossed out. The flavor was also unpleasant. I'm not sure if it was just a bad night or if the chicken gets prepared differently now. It hasn't been a problem before. I'll stop by again and see if the chicken is any different. read more

I want to star saying that we came today at noon and the place was packed so we went back home and decided to come back at night because we really wanted to dine here. It was our first time. Service was on point. We took a few pictures with the family on the water fountain and the waiter was so nice that we got a table outside. At the end the waiter named Jay comes to the table and brings some to go boxes and says "the little one paid for everything so you guys are good to go" (referring to our 3 year old daughter) we looked confused and ask "what do you mean?" And he repeated she paid for everything. And we were even more confused. Then he says "someone who doesn't know you saw you taking pictures and decided to take care of your bill". We were in shocked as this never happened to us before. So we asked to charge us something so we could tip and he said that not only the check has been paid but the tip was covered and they left a really good tip so we didn't have to do anything but to enjoy. Honestly this creates a big impact and we decided with my wife that we will start doing this for others. It just made us feel so loved by someone that doesn't know us. If you're reading this I encourage you to do it, the idea is to make it anonymously and for someone that you don't know at all. So for you stranger that covered our check. I have lived within a couple of miles of Frugatti's for 25 years, and I've been dining there just as long. It is hands down my favorite restaurant in town. The food is consistently great, and always served piping hot. The ambiance and decor is soooo charmingly wonderful - and is absolutely why it's my fave "go-to-alone-and-chillax" spot! I like to sit in the small booth in the corner, order a Lemon Drop Martini, and breeeeaaaathe It's like you walked into Italy - 'cept everyone is speaking English ;-) They have an accordion player (probably only on Friday and/or Saturday nights), playing "stroll-through-Venice" type Italian tunes which is a really nice touch. The servers are always attentive and professional. The prices? well, they've gone up mildly over the years - but who's prices haven't? And you absolutely get what you pay for. You can usually judge a restaurant by its lasagna. This lasagna was basically four or five strips of pasta about 3/4 of an inch high with some ricotta and cheese melted in between, was absolutely horrible. read more

This is the hands down best Italian in Bakersfield. I am well aware of the blasphemy I am saying because a local who knows we love our Luigis, but this is better I love the menu. The fit menu is an awesome component to have for a non-franchised restaurant and a great options for when I'm wanting Italian, but not a thousand pasta carbs. The pasta though, is awesome. I personally love the Theresa's tortellini, but I like the crab ravioli and the basic spaghetti and meatballs. I am a huge proponent of local business, especially when it comes to restaurants, so I highly recommend this restaurant of the garbage in town franchises like Olive Garden and Macaroni Grill. Seriously guys (and gals), if you want Italian food, patronize this outstanding restaurant and forego the sub par chains our town is littered with. read more

We are visiting Bakersfield for a conference and wanted to try one of the local spots. We Yelped nearby restaurants and found Frugatti's. I love spaghetti and I can eat almost any kind so my review may be biased. The location is easy to get to, the atmosphere was very much what you would expect from an Italian restaurant. Our server was a bit rude, but I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt because I've worked in food service and sometimes we have bad days. But I noticed she was nice to other customers but rude to us so for this review, her service was bad. The bread was huge and delicious, the spaghetti was delicious and my coworkers ordered pizza and they liked it as well but it was overpriced. Overall, good food, bad service and probably won't go there again, if I'm ever back in town. read more

This is our family's favorite restaurant. The second favorite isn't even close. The atmosphere is fun and inviting, the service is always warm and exceptional, the wine list and other bar drinks are great, too, but the food ... THE FOOD! I have never been disappointed. The price might scare away some (although it is incredibly reasonable for this sort of restaurant), and it does keep us from visiting as often as we'd like, but if you've ever heard Ralph talk about the ingredients, you'll understand the reason behind the cost. The quality is unmatched, and there definitely isn't another Italian place in town doing anything close. This restaurant is our favorite (only) special occasion spot, and calling it delicious doesn't begin to describe how tasty it is. The spicy sausage ravioli, baked chicken, eggplant Parmesan, Nonni's pizza, stuffed mushrooms, bacon wrapped asparagus, pasta with Gorgonzola cream sauce, salad with creamy garlic house dressing ... the list of our favorite dishes continues to grow. This restaurant was recommended to me by a Bakersfield resident when I asked for the best Italian place in town. We were not disappointed! While the wait was a little long, and the staff was a bit crude and rough around the edges, everyone was friendly and fast as heck to get us our food and drinks once we sat. Dear management: my wife and I just moved to Bakersfield and were was told this place was the best for Italian food. We made a reservation through their website and showed up just to be told that they had given our table away. The two indifferent girls (hostess) said we would have to wait another half an hour. They claimed they texted us to notify us. However, that never happened. This is the second time I had to deal with their Indifference and lack of attention. Management, I can deal with the wait and your online ONLY reservation system, but you have to do something about those female hostess you employ, they need training as they have no manners. My Server was exceptional. Keep kicking ass Sarah C. She made my 27.00 crab and shrimp ravioli much better than what the cook made by suggesting a side of alfredo to mix in the watery sauce. I dont know if it was suppose to be watery but I would bet my bottom dollar it isnt. The sauce was also to sweet. Like, not in a good way. That savory cheesy alfredo sauce not only thickened the watery sauce but gave it a flavor that was to infinity and beyond. Thanks Sarah! The clam chowder I ordered was on the bland side so I had to add salt and pepper. The salt and pepper shakers were sticky and needed to be cleaned. All around, I'll be back. Once I doctored up the clam chowder it was pretty good. And with that delicious Alfredo sauce I'll definitely be back. The food has good flavors. I would def go back for the Roman artichokes. This was just so delicious. The lasagna was very good as well. The penne primavera was delicious as well. The pizza was not good. We had just a pepperoni pizza. The cheese was just too much and it just didn't have a good flavor. The cosmopolitan was good. The tiramisu was creamy and packed with alcohol. It was delicious but very overpowering for me. But I'm sure that's what the real tiramisu is supposed to taste like. The service was ok. Our server seemed to forget about us, we didnt even try to flag her down we just waited. All on all it was a good experience. Ordered through phone and didn't get what I ordered. Salad was soggy and didn't even include the dressing I asked for. Had to eat because my fiancé was hungry. Just put on some grocery store dressing. Asked for bread but no bread included. Tip for phone or online orders - check your food before leaving for completeness. We shouldn't have to if we're paying a premium for food but at this place, it's definitely a must. Being busy shouldn't be an excuse for poor service. I've had the worst experience tonight at Frugattis. I went in completely understanding that it was NYE and that it would be busy. I'll start with I waited on hold for 35ish mins. They kept picking up the phone and putting it on hold and then would forward me to their voicemail. This was at roughly 4pm. Since I was around the corner and I went in to place my order. They told me it would be about an hour wait. That was fine I understood. I got a text at 5:40pm that my food was ready. I went to the ginger haired woman who was very rude and she pointed me to one line and then sent me to another line. I waited in this line until 6:45pm with people who did not receive their message that their food was ready. I asked the dark haired woman at the front if I could speak to a manager and explained how long I had been waiting and I was worried about my food being cold. She said she could get the manager but wasn't concerned about my food being cold. The manager an older tall man with gray hair came out and wasn't very sincere with his apology or attempted to do anything to make it right said he would look for my Order. He never came back at all. They didn't even have my order completed and it was cold. The staff at the front didn't really seem to care about the type of service they were giving. The only decent worker was the ginger gentleman that at least attempted to move everyone along. I won't ever patron this place again or recommend them. read more

My family and I went in for dinner last Saturday night 1 hour before closing time, their customer service was great, they were eager to serve us despite the time we walked in. We were greeted rite away and sat us down rite away. It didn't take more than a minute or two before our server came by said hello and took our drink order. Our drinks came very quickly and he took our order promptly. Our appetizer came out with in 5 minutes of us ordering. and our food came out 5-10 minutes after that. Our server never let our drinks fall below 1/4 of the cup. The food was fantastic, you could definitely taste the authenticity of their food. The portions were generous. Supporting local in this difficult time for restaurants. But local businesses have to be smart too... Ordered 4 entrees ($85) to go because the dining room is closed. They gave me 3 dinner rolls. I asked for a 4th and was told there was an extra charge. If we were to sit in, we would get one each but their policy is 3 rolls for to-go orders. This upset me...I know I'm being petty but what business sense does it make for them to deny. There are other local eateries to give my $ to. Thank you for the response. To clarify, they were "rolls" not "loaves" and my salad, that you say was not an entree, was a $15 menu item. I don't want to do this, but I have to. My family was celebrating and chose this place for our dinner. We made a reservation for 14 and arrived literally about 5 minutes late and our table was "given away". It seemed very suspicious, no other large groups had been seated, it didn't seem like anyone had just been seated. I think that was a lie, they didn't honor our reservation and that's ok, that's all you have to say, don't lie about it. So we waited about 30 minutes in the tiny back area by the corner because there was 14 of us and no where else to wait. Thank God for one of the servers Nayeli, who asked if we were thirsty and wanted bread, she was also our server for the night. If it weren't for her helping us I would have for sure given this place 1 star. She definitely saved this place, she was so patient and kind all night long, especially with our big party. The only other mishap was my sister in law did not receive her order, and it was just a salad! Who knows what happened in the kitchen I just know everyone was done with their food and she still hadn't got hers, she just ended up canceling it. Always used yelp but never reviewed any places until now due to the amazing service we got at Frugatti's! So we used the yelp check-in to unlock the free appetizer. Our server, Ashley, forgot to put the appetizer order but at the same time, we weren't so hang up on it because of her excellent service she gave from the very start. To make up for it though, she threw in a complimentary dessert which was very kind of her. And we appreciated it very much! Now onto the entrees, the Bayou Ridge Fettuccine, the noodle were a little bit dry but the sauce was AMAZING! I eat a lot, and man!! Their portions are enormous.
