They have done a very good job building a restaurant from the ground up. The high ceilings give a real sense of space and luxury to the dining experience. The outside even feels like a restaurant that has been well established despite being new and not having any other locations. I would wager the heavy attendance will lead to them creating additional locations. It appears that the bigger tables are mostly inside while smaller ones , suitable for less than 4 people are outside. I noticed a few private dining areas too which should appeal to bigger groups. The food of course is great. I would not spend too much effort on the complimentary bread. It's pretty average and should be avoided if you're about to consume a carb heavy meal soon. We had the creamy Gorgonzola red pepper pasta. It's heavy and packs a serious punch. I don't know if anyone who hasn't missed a meal recently would be able to consume the entire dish without sharing. The Caesar salad was good too. The lettuce was perfectly fresh. Our server was friendly and very attentive. I don't have any complaints. read more

Honestly.....disappointing. I came to Frugatti's for a family member's birthday celebration looking forward to eating at this new location. The service was good however, the drinks were not. My husband and I had 3 Sangrias each and we both felt they were very mediocre in taste & alcohol content. Went today for a nice lunch with my son who recently moved back home. While the service was as usual, very good, we were asked to move after being seated and settled in with our drinks and basket of bread. Apparently there was a large party and our table was needed to provide space. We were a bit thrown off and we're surprised there was no offer of courtesy or gratuity. This is a late review, i really thought I have given one before. :) It was our first time dining here and in this new location. Came here on a late night weekday. Location wise I think this is better than the previous one as it has a lot of parking space. The ambiance and decor gives that Italian feels which was great. We ordered seafood pasta and pizza which i found the portion size was huge and good for 2. The dishes tasted amazing too esp. the seafood pasta! Service was fast too. Great place. Food is always amazing except for today. I found a piece of metal in my pasta, it looked like it was from a grill cleaning brush. If you love fettuchini you want to live at this place Soooooooo good. And the server was so on it! I sell ads and this is a place I would take clients. They are so on top of everything. They treated us the same as you would think you would be served for a lot more than they charged and their good especially pasta and pizza is so authentic and you can enjoy it because you don't have to worry about some crazy bill coming. The server made sure we always had drinks and even walked my son to where the bathroom was and he came back to the table smiling so that's saying something good cause he is so shy! Our office personnel had lunch today and sat at the Sinatra table. Our server, Roberto, was attentive and made great recommendations. My coworkers steaks were cooked to perfection and I ordered the chicken breast with mushroom sauce, which was delicious! Prices were reasonable for the quality. First time eating here since maybe 2004/2005. New building is nice, definitely an upgrade from the previous location. Staff and servers were friendly and nice. So all those are essentially why the its a 3 star. They lost 2 stars due to the food experience. So this is where it goes downhill, we place our orders, they're busy so we expect it to be a lil bit to get the food out, no biggie. Entrees arrive, well 6 out of 8 do. They say oh the other 2 will be right out gotta go get them. (Calzone and kids chicken meal). We start eating, 5, 10, 15 minutes goes by and still havnt arrived. By then the calzone order was about to be cancelled cause they didn't want to get there's after we have already ate. Then 20 minutes they arrive. Calzone was not fully cooked, still light colored and doughy unlike the same calzone we had ordered that arrived with the first 6 entrees. But whatever they start eating, the baked fish dish we had ordered came with mashed potatoes and asparagus had another issue, the potatoes and asparagus we cold, fish was piping hot though. We tell the server and she said let me bring you another set of sides, cool. Well couple minutes later she brings a dish with potatoes and asparagus, well dish was cold again, we all tried the sides so we could confirm that they were not heated up long enough. Literally room temp sides even the dish had no warmth to it. Very disappointed in that, especially having to bring another out. But the fish was great. Management did make it right before we left so that was much appreciated. But I still have to be honest with my review and give them what I feel is deserved based on the experience. At some point I will probably go back and give them another shot to redeem themselves but not sure when. read more

This is one of our favorite spots so we ordered my daughter's graduation celebration meal for pickup. I liked the ability to order online but wished I could have scheduled pickup ahead of time. I called to ask about scheduling ahead but was told just to order 45 minutes before I wanted it. Not the end of the world but inconvenient. The pickup was easy and the staff were friendly but when unpacking the food at home we noticed the meatballs that were supposed to come with one of the family meals were missing. The chicken that came with the fettuccine was tasty but smaller than I remembered. We ended up with a disappointingly small amount of meat for the dinner and I was a little embarrassed to serve it. We did get a ton of bread rolls which was nice but I wish I hadn't added on breadsticks. Also nothing was provided to serve with the bread. For what we paid it was kind of a bummer. read more

Our first round of drinks took a little bit to come out but Lucey kept our waters filled and it was peak dinner time so it was understandable. We came on a Thursday night about 8:15 pm and we were seated forthwith. Bread and butter came swiftly, but no oil and balsamic (O&B). Food arrived and the request for O&B was fulfilled. Clearly the waitstaff were in the "It's quittin time" mode. And surprisingly, a staffer came by and asked if they could collect the O&B set up from our table and then proceeded to move it to an adjacent table for a wipedown and refill to prep for closing. Why not start that process by collecting and servicing the O&B setups from the already unoccupied tables, and there were several? This is a management and training issue IMHO. Everyone in the party of five reported their food was good, but nobody raved about their meal. I had a Caprese Salad, and the tomatoes were clearly at a pre-ripe stage and not as described as being ripe. Had I known, I would have ordered another salad. Overall, our visit was just OK, not bad, but just not better than just OK. This is my second 3 star review for this place, so at least there is consistency. read more

Found this place on the drive into Bakersfield. We had traveled 10 hours were hungry and tired. Nothing more comforting that Italian. The lasagna perfect blend of meats and cheeses. The eggplant and tomato pasta a killer combo. Finished off with two of the best desserts on the menu. This is a can't miss place. The service was top notch the waitress discussed many dishes with us and made our visit exceptional. The vibe of the place is definitely Italian. Almost forgot the fresh bread and olive oil. oh what an awesome starter. Definitely try this place. There are many more awesome sounding dishes on their menu. The young woman Alyssa U. that served us took 30 mins to take our food order, we didn't get to order appetizers because I had other appointments after lunch. Quickly we were met with disappointment. My garlic chicken fettuccini was not appetizing. It just felt sloppy. My boyfriend's stake was overwhelmed with garlic. Hands down, one of our favorite restaurants in Bakersfield, and the leader in Italian food by far. My go to is the Atlantic Cod with extra capers,, but let's start at the beginning.... appetizers. Haven't met one I haven't liked yet. Mushrooms, artichokes, bacon wrapped asparagus - all great. The hit for my wife and I is their salad, especially if you're a blue cheese dressing lover. The chunks of blue cheese to dressing ratio is outstanding! I'm very picky about my blue cheese dressing (don't know why) but theirs is the best my wife and I have ever had (and my wife was not a blue cheese freak until she met me). We always start off with the bread and an oil, vinegar, Parmesan cheese mix to dip into. My wife loves the spaghetti with sausage - her personal favorite. I've had a lot - Beef Braciole, Gorgonzola cream penne, ravioli, but my take home dish (yes, after dining in, and taking leftovers, I plan for the next day. ) is the Sofie's Gnocchi. Please, if you've never gone out of your red sauce "comfort zone" like some people I've known, please try this! Simply divine. The staff is incredible. We've never had a bad waitress, or busboy for that matter, even at their busiest peaks. A great Bakersfield institution. Debated on even saying this, but I am handicapped,. We came with a larger party than anticipated and the staff was very responsive. Our server Tanner was amazing! Knowledgeable, attentive, and handled every request with grace. We had a party of 18 and he was able to sort each check with no issues. I gave 4 stars because I tried a new dish ( chicken picatta) and it wasn't my favorite. Imagine coming from out of town to spend your birthday with family and friends to make it a special event... Some recommendations were to order food from Frugatti's. Well.... Over $200 Worth of food was ordered from Frugatti's on coffee rd. What a disappointment and a waste of money, not to mention a completely ruined birthday dinner! The best part of the dinner was the bread and butter they give you, which is mostly what some people just took a piece of while searching for food to eat. All the pastas were so hard and flavorless that you could've whipped up something 100 times better at home by boiling noodles that were done and putting in a jar of sauce. That's how bad this dinner was. The only descent thing was a small me margarita pizza and the bread and butter. Needless to say people went home hungry, how embarrassing, and most of the dinner was trashed. What a disappointment!!; Don't know if we'd give this place another try especially with All the money that was wasted on a horrible useless dinner for a birthday that was a fail! Definitely not worth over $200 read more

The restaurant is huge. Lots of seating configurations for parties of all sizes. The waitress was super nice and working hard since she had a large area of customers to help. Service was a bit slow, but it was ok. We had a nice time just hanging out chatting and knowledge that she was doing a great job. The food was tasty. Portions were large. The side salads that came with the entrees were HUGE. The style reminded me of a huge Macaroni Grill and Buca di Beppo combined. It had the polish of a big chain restaurant, but the service and quality of a mom-and-pop restaurant. Bread that they give you in the beginning tastes like cardboard. I get it that it's free but it doesn't do any justice with how great the olive oil is.
